You are doing fantastic!0

At 1 lb per week, the "normal" amount you should expect to lose in a year would be 52 lbs. Double that is 104 lbs.8

Wow you're doing great!!0

Many things can cause water weight (which isn't fat).
Water can be retained in the muscles for repair, if you've done new-to-you exercise.
In females, hormones cause lots of water weight issues (not your issue, but just FYI).
Eating more carbs or sodium than your body is used to will cause water weight. (I can't remember the scientific reason behind it.)
Travel/flying can cause water weight. I gain like 8 pounds in one flight.
Excessive temperatures can cause water weight.
I suspect you indulged a bit at Christmas, and now you're seeing the carbs/sodium water weight, plus the extra food actually still in your system. Get back on plan, do what you know to do, and it will come back off in about 4-6 days.
I went up 4 pounds overnight due to Christmas eating. It's all good.10 -
That's why we keep saying - stay the course. Weight is up/down according to all kinds of things. Especially when you are overweight by a lot, the swings will be bigger. It's just a percentage of your total weight. At 460 pounds, you can hold a lot of water.
Keep it going.5 -
Makes sence xmas is a bad time for carbs and over doing it on foods.8

Like quiksylver said, It happens. Lot's of things can cause it. sodium and carbs as well as climate are the big ones.
As I repeat a few times a month, This past July, I went to a BBQ 2-3 days after a race. Between post run feeding, sun, and eating foods that were high is sodium and carbs and corn, I weighed 12 pounds more the next morning.
By the time the sunburn(very mild-I used sunscreen) faded, the weight had dropped back off.3 -

Oh, yeah. I forgot about sunburn. That will make you retain water, too.2 -

Any inflammation. Even an injury.

No argument, but a 2-3% swing isn't even abnormal. 12 lbs was almost 5% for me, but 9 lbs for BJ is less than 3%. It's like 5-6 lbs for me. Which is about what I saw over the weekend.6 -
I understand where you are coming from as 2 years ago I was 378 Lbs. My health was in jeopardy and I could hardly get out of bed and walk to the bathroom which was just a few steps from my bedroom. I lost 160 Lbs in the first year but I fought for every pound lost and it was hard to keep up that kind of self-discipline for that long. I kept a tight reign on my eating and started exercising a little at a time just after starting. I added to my exercise during that first year until I was exercising for about 2 1/2 hours a day in total. Two years into the process and I am now almost 220 down. The lower your weight gets the slower the pounds come off.
I'm also of the mind that you don't put a time table on losing. I just took it one step at a time and one day at a time. One step at a time has become my philosophy for life in general. I began hiking in April of this year and when I get to a long step hill, I don't look at the whole hill, I just look at my feet and take one step at a time. I find myself getting tired if I look at the whole hill and I know it's all in my head. I reached one my goals and hiked to the top of Mt. Diablo which is 3849 feet and it was 15 Miles total round trip. Try to focus on small goals at a time otherwise weight loss can be very overwhelming. I've been there, a few weeks into my weight loss, I freaked myself out by telling myself that it was going to be about 2 1/2 years to lose all the weight. Math was not my friend. I was figuring the most I could possible lose was 10 pounds a week logically. I had to talk myself off the proverbial ledge to get myself back on track. I am pretty much on track to hit that time frame but if I haven't lost all the weight, I'm okay with that too. I have found that I need to be happy with everything I have accomplished and the rest will take care of itself.
I find that when I put a time limit on losing, its almost like I self-sabotage because when I'm so close, I eat something I shouldn't and gain a few pounds back.
My advice is just to take the weight loss one step at a time, don't get too upset when you have a set back as that just seems to escalate bad situation. Keep reminding yourself that you are doing the right thing and giving yourself positive reinforcement. I have found that to be extremely important. I yoyo dieted for a long time and every time I would stop a diet, I would seem to add 20 pounds to weight.
I wish you the best of luck in the future.

heck yesterday I was down in weight, today im up almost 3 lbs. I have been down in weight one day and be up 7 the next so it can happen. stop worrying about fluctuations they are normal. if its causing you stress or aggravation then weigh once a week. look for the downward trend. weight will go up and down its normal. its when it starts going up and up and up is when you worry.2
