Rye - You certainly look like you could be a trainer. I would say that is a NSV
Allie - Hate those days/nights when the mind won't shut off. Looks like you have a lot of good suggestions to help deal with this.
Lanette - It seems that your DH has a very good doctor for him. I hope the doctor was able to ease your DH's mind.
Thanks all for the compliments for my daughter on the cake. Since posting the photo of the cake some of my nieces and nephews have contacted me with memories of the cakes I made for them. I didn't think they would remember so long ago.
We think Harmony is quite cute but we could be a little biased.
I am having a hard time staying awake. I am not sleeping long periods at a time. I sit down, fall asleep for 5 minutes , wake up. Not being able to stay awake nor stay asleep is very exhausting.
Trying to get our Christmas party sorted out. I'm not supposed to be a member of the Social Committee just a mentor. It seems we have to do this before the end of the month. The woman who was supposed to book the Escape rooms didn't get on it and now it seems that they can't accommodate all of us at one time. I do have a date to try to work some magic with a restaurant. Not sure how I got roped in for this.
Everyone is bored at work these days. Customer traffic is always slow in January and you can only clean for so long at a time. I am writing up some SOPs for the stuff I do. It takes a while to go through it step by step. More steps than I thought and then type it up so that others can follow it easily.
Made a recipe in the slowcooker with perogies, cabbage and sausage. 4 hrs was not enough on low. I will just have to adjust it next time.
Keira called me this afternoon because she got to build a snow man with her Mom. You would think with all the snow we had this would have happened before but sometimes it is just too cold to build one. Today was perfect although Jheri said the Chinook was giving her a headache.
Maybe tomorrow I will be more awake.

I joined the not sleeping brigade last night, awake for three hours in the middle of the night. It's because of the viewing tomorrow. I'm partly annoyed at DH for not negotiating a more convenient time. Even half an hour later would have made a big difference. But it is what it is.
Plus our yoga was quite tough yesterday and my thigh muscles are sore. Even today's exercises haven't ironed them out. But I still did it, even though I felt knackered. I might walk to the pub for lunch for my bonus exercise.
I have lost around half a pound this week, but I may have some water retention. So a pound and a half since the New Year.
We are negotiating our spring York trip with the girls. Hard to find a date to suit everyone. I really don't want to give up a yoga session, but may have to. I will talk to my friend at lunch time about it.

Morning ladies
Slept pretty well last night.. gloomy Gus brother has dad in a casket .I told him with all that is going on I am taking everything a day at a time.i will make copies of all I have for dad for my brother.so he can be more involved..he doesn't have the patience to deal with this as his MIL is different than dad .she has Alzheimer's dad has a bit of dementia and likes to talk alot ..and that's where Sean loses patience..
I have given any of the Drs permission to speak to both Sean and Jean..working 12-6 today6 -
7.2 km of walking ... this business of walking from the edge of town all the way to the university and back every day, plus a lunchtime walk, really adds up!
Then I went for a 14.8 km bicycle ride outside after class! It has been a while since I've ridden in the evening.
And today was my last day of class for the time being ... this 8-day stretch of classes every day is done! But the course isn't finished yet. Next I've got a project worth 25% of my mark. Part of it is due on the 29th when I have another all-day class, and the rest of it is due in the beginning of February. We all had to start our projects and give a little introductory presentation today, and I realised that there will be a lot of work involved!
Meanwhile, however, I return to work tomorrow! I am actually kind of looking forward to that. While I enjoyed my 8 days of class, they were pretty intense. A lot of information!! And the way the afternoon tutorials were run, it was like we had test every day. The tutorials did include a short quiz, and then the tutorial itself had to be finished and submitted by the end of class, so we had to work quickly every day. It's amazing how tiring that is! Mentally tiring.
My job isn't usually that intense ... and it will be nice to be back at my desk, with my usual food and everything.

Morning all, afternoon and evening,
Yesterday was crazy busy, and we've got snow coming in. Was supposed to start snowing 4 a.m., but it's apparently moving slower than they thought. Kids have a snow day, and the base is doing a late start, at 10 a.m. However, the snow is on radar now, and if it tracks as it's showing now, the rain will get here about 10:30 a.m., and then snow by noon if it doesn't break up. Interesting to see what the base does about it. I appreciate the emphasis on safety, but believing weather reports is always risky!
But... I work at home, and I don't care, as long as the electricity stays on. My daughter did purchase a small propane heater, as the house is all-electric, so we've got some backup.
Two days in a row of logging and staying in my calories has me feeling quite chipper. Now to do a half hour of some exercise or other, and on with my day!
Love y'all,
Lisa in West Texas8 -
Was offered a free hearing check while out shopping, when she looked in my ears found both full of wax so gave me a referral letter for Dr. I have an appointment with Dr tomorrow so will give him letter. I have had problems in the past with wax as apparently I have very very narrow ear canals.
Tried my heavier KB yesterday, feels good.
Got an email today re Broken Brain progs so will look forward to that tomorrow

Baribie and Machka thanks for sleep ideas. I try to drink tart cherry juice every night too. It is tart so I know it not for everyone. It is also a bit pricey. Still it is cheaper than a sleeping pill. It is supposed to raise serotonin levels naturally and give you better REM sleep.
Allie glad to hear you slept well. Sounds like brother needs a chill pill. He is being a pill. You have enough on your plate without adding him.
Heather hope it goes well for you today. Pleasant dreams tonight!

Hi ladies,
Katla, you reminded me I need to repaint my toes. I think there is only my big toes that still has paint on them. My daughter is a little down as her boyfriend broke up with her again. He just stopped answering her texts. He is a fifty year old man and she is 34. He should know better than to break up that way. They have broken up about 3 times over 4 years. I told her I hoped she learned her lesson and that this is the end. She also quit her job Monday as they don’t treat their employees very well and she had enough. I’m glad. She is living with us while she goes to school so that’s ok and her dad said he would help if she did decide to quit. So, it hasn’t been the best week for her and it’s only Wednesday. Maybe I’ll ask if she wants to get a pedicure with me. Might lift her spirits.
Machka, we have a river that is within walking distance from work and I love to go there and sit and have lunch. So peaceful. Of course that’s only in the summer. Love the drawing about sweet exhaustion. That fits you to a “T”. I’m sure you will ace your project.
Pip, I can see the family resemblance. Great picture. Wish I was close to my sister.
Suebdew, I’d take the books to a senior center or nursing home. The hospital may like them too.
Kim, hope it works out with the new housemate.
Wendy, I love your saying about books. I collect magnets with sayings about books and have them on my refrigerator . Some of the saying are
>If you have a book, you never go to bed alone.
>A room without books is like a body without a soul.
>I will work for books.
>Turn off the tv and read a book! It’s called thinking outside the box.
>Reading is sexy.
Joyce, I’d call your dr. You shouldn’t have that pain. Maybe your dose isn’t strong enough or you need something else.
Pam, sounds like the decluttering is going well. My DH also loses better if he cuts out bread. He’s down another pound. I’m so glad he is staring to lose again. His weight is all in his stomach and that increases the chance of a heart attach according to his dr.
Sharon, as beautiful as your cakes are, I’m not surprised that people remember them. Are you on any medications that could be making you drowsy? I would be worried if you drive.
Heather, congrats on the pound and a half. Great start to the new year! Good luck with the showing. I’m sure your place looks great. We are always critical of our house and how it looks. Most times it’s in our head.
Allie, sorry to say but your brother is an *kitten*. Just keep doing what you are doing as you are angle to your father.
Lisa, sounds like you’re on a role with logging and staying within calories. You go girl!
Kate, my DH also has problems with wax build up. Thankfully it is an easy process to clean it out.
Margaret, tart cherry juice is good for any inflammation but didn’t’ know it was good for sleep. Will have to tell DH that.
Well the weather is 23 (-5c) so not too bad. Expecting snow storm but not sure when. Finally told my co-worker about losing weight. She had shared with me that she was going through a divorce so I shared my “secret” about trying to lose weight. She said she was sorry she hadn’t noticed as she was so focused on what she was going through. I told her I had kept it a secret as I didn’t want people telling me how to eat or exercise. I think she got it. Well better get back to work. Hope everyone has a great day.

Thx, I don’t c the resemblance but oh well. I hated her (and told her when I was in my 30’s). We’ve come to an understanding. After our sister died we have gotten closer. But I was definitely not close to her most of my life4 -
At out patient surgery with my mother in law. It is VERY COLD in the waiting room. I made pea soup yesterday and also brought that and some oatmeal with because her idea of a meal is a sandwich. I don’t actually eat bread so bringing my own food makes sense.
I’ll br I decided on the movie “Clueless”. For us to watch this afternoon if she isn’t sleeping. I’ll be spending all day at her house with her.7 -
Wendy Maybe sweet potato, yam, or pumpkin would be a possibility for your "go to" food. Nutritious AND sweet! I used to eat one small baked potato or baked sweet potato every day - just ate it like an apple, no butter or sour cream. Delicious.

Off to bone density test and yearly mamo. It is cold here for the first time. Boy I was spoiled!!! (26 degrees at 8 am)
At least I have clothes and know how to deal with it being from CT.

Terry (((daughter))) a loss of a boyfriend and a job so close together is tough. Glad she has you and school to see her way forward.2

Made red lentil soup, bone broth and yogurt in my IP over the past few days, so tasty, fast, economical and low-calorie WIN, WIN, WIN, WIN!!
I've got the decluttering bug today, could it be from reading all of your posts? Make me feel lighter packing away clothes and other items to go to Good Will Industries. DD loves to shop there--found terrific pair of boots for $7, and a blazer for $4!
I'm happy to be home due to the stormy weather, just can't deal with driving in ice. Afternoon should have improved roads so I will probably go to the gym but only if everything is clear.
Have a great day everyone. NYKAREN4 -
The viewers have cancelled because they decided they wanted to do work on the house and couldn't afford it. I shouldn't say so, but I am pleased, it was a very inconvenient time for us (me). DH is a bit gutted and thinks I am not gung ho enough. The agent wants to come round soon and discuss "marketing". That means, asking us to lower the price. We will do that.
Terry - I well remember breaking up with unsuitable men. It's still devastating and she has put a lot of time and energy into the relationship. I hope he doesn't string her along yet another time.
I walked to the pub, had a nice, very slimming lunch with some wine and then walked back again. An hour in total. Not bad for "bonus" calories. It's the first alcohol I've had this week. I think we've decided on our dates for the York get together. April.
Now got to make turkey with spinach burgers for dinner. I make six and we have two left for lunch the next day. Delicious!
Much love, Heather UK xxxxxxx5 -
something about our bodies we hated: my ultra skinny legs. Nickname "Barbwire". Geometry teacher asked if I'd had polio. 30 years later a "Friend" laughed at my bird legs. Grr! Finally figured out she was jealous, she had such sturdy peasant legs
losing besties :brokenheart: my BFF passed in 2005 at 56 after long battle with physical, emotional and alcohol issues. No one has since filled that hole in my heart, but for loving acceptance you gals come pretty damned close.
smoking in offices: The only Dr. I remember smoking was back in the early 60s. Back in the day I smoked at work, had a huge glass ashtray positively erupting with butts and ash. The memory now disgusts me. Funny how 20 smoke free years have changed my perspective.
Karen in Va, micro actions are my key to dealing with procrastination. Is there one thing you could do in 5 mins or less? If no specific thing, then could you devote 5 minutes to the "preliminary sort" and feel accomplishment whether or not you found any one specific document?
Viv sorry to hear about Frankie and Wizzy. ((hugs))
Machka thanks for the electrolyte info. Doubt I've ever sweated enough, but I do drink lots of water. Time to dig out the salt/mineral tablets my chiro recommended. Will definitely leave the 4 C spinach out of the chickpea curry, will serve an arugula salad instead do they make orthotic flip flops or slip ons for beach wear?
Rye Bingo! Will skim more and reply less to get up off my butt. "Jelly" Love it! Young and fit enough to be a personal trainer, that IS how you look! single leg stand, and toe raises, yup, but ankle pull outs? Doesn't seem possible
Margaret thanks for "Set your voice free", that sounds like what I was trying to remember.
Rita Well done!
Wendy Wow. Farm chores AND hiking with dogs? Tired just reading about it Hope liberation from doing the accounts comes just AFTER head office buys back your shares.
Terry and Lisa Keepers both. Aren't we lucky? Great "takes away today's peace" quote.
Michele, thanks so much for the not-Donettes recipe! Stayed close to budget at TJs as there was only so much room in the cooler If you've never had TJ's french onion soup, try it, you'll like it! My osteoporosis is moderate and Dr (and you and Katla) have talked me into taking my medicine. To avoid esphogeal whatever Dr. recommends eating a small piece of bread and taking my cod liver oil first, then drink rest of 8 oz water and sit or stand up for 2 hrs. Willing to try anything to avoid infusions, injections, or any more broken bones (haven't broken one since 2005).
Heather thanks for telling us how good it feels. Will incorporate that into my self talk.
Lanette beg to differ about puppy kisses. To me they are emotional and immune system medicine Dr Paul sounds like a great Dr. Glad you found him and your DH listens to him.
Timer ping, now to breakfast and T'ai Chi with 3 pgs to go

Machka: Your location sounds divine. I can think of nothing better than sitting by the water to eat my lunch in the company of ducks. :flowerforyou:
Pip: I love the photo of you and your sister.
DJ: Hello back-at-cha!
SueBDew: Our town has a senior center that is partially funded by a thrift shop they operate. We take most things that are still useful to their thrift shop. Goodwill is in the neighboring town and we've taken things there from time to time, too. :flowerforyou: I just read Kim's post about donating books to her library. Our library also has an ongoing book sale to help their book budget. I've donated many books to the for their book sale.
Kim: I'm glad the housemate is working out well. Yay!!! I hope this turns out well for a long time to come.
Joyce: I think Machka has given you the best advice. See what your doctor has to say. Chamomile tea is soothing drink before bedtime. Coffee is the opposite. :flowerforyou:
NY Karen: I'd like to know your recipe for red lentil soup. It sounds like it would be nutritious and tasty. Do you share recipes?
Peach: I am astonished at the cold weather you've been having in Georgia. I visited there in winter when my son graduated from boot camp years ago and it was chilly, but nothing like what is going on this year. BRRRR!
I'm finally feeling enough better to consider spending some time at the stable. This has been a weird ailment--no head cold, just a minor headache & chronic exhaustion for the past couple of weeks. I'm happy to feel better.

did an hour of zumba last night and a 2mile walk in the snow/cold with my dog. First in awhile Ive doubled up my exercise since I started seeing a Chiropracter about 8 weeks ago after a back injury that I have no idea how I did LOL. Anyway Im feeling it today, time for Advil. My poor dog has a swollen ankle joint today and its bugging him, so I doubled his arthritus med this morning and hes doing better. I have a husky that loves the snow and cold but it doesnt love him!6
