Good morning Ladies!
My January results were great.
1. Lose 6 lbs - Smashed this one thanks to migraines and my intermittent TMJ issue. Oh, and NYE bloat that upped my Jan 1 weight by almost 3 lbs over 12/31 but was worth every single bite I had that night! Total loss 12 lbs.
2. Close all rings every day, DONE
3. Stretch 3X a week, DONE. Most weeks 5 times.
4. Log every bite. DONE, I find this one easy.
Have a great day everyone!!

I'm sitting at my desk working. If I turn my head left and look out the window, I can see the full moon/blue moon/super moon, which is due to start turning into an eclipsed "blood moon" in about half an hour. The skies are fairly clear.
Lucky me to be able to see this rare phenomenon from the comfort of my chair in the middle of the day!

Good morning all! Happy Wednesday!
Wendy- Sending up prayers and good thoughts and vibes for you and your daughter!
Superbluebloodmoon- I love nature. I love to see the moon out when I am outside at night. I don't really care how big, how close, what color or how often (as long as it comes up each night). I think I would be more wowed about it, if I just happened to see it. Somehow, the media's penchant for naming EVERY.SINGLE.COSMIC. or weather event is wearing thin. Personally, now, if I walk out to see the Superbluebloodmoon, I better see Tom Selleck or Mark Wahlberg in it.
Kinda crabby this morning. Need more sleep or more coffee. Coffee will have to do. ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)5 -
Kelly, I love the moon, too. But where I live, it DOESN'T come up every night. It's like the sun: half the year we see it, half the year we don't. And the reason we don't see the moon in the summer isn't that it's light 24/7, but because it never climbs high enough to get above the horizon.
Machka - There's a pesky mountain in the way right now. I'm confident the moon will reappear as it slides eastward. It is currently just 5° above the horizon. In half an hour it will be one degree higher and above a valley rather than a peak. So I'm hopeful.5 -
Shot from my door step as it went as fully eclipsed as it is going to go. I'm going to go back out now and have a look at the progress ...

It has shifted position from when I took the photo above, and is even redder now. So you might get lucky!

Good morning, Ladies!
It's doubtful the super-duper moon will be viewable in my area of the Pacific NW because of heavy cloud cover, but I will keep watch. Maybe the moon will peek through as I drive into work!
I've thought about goals for this month and because I have a tendency to start with a bang and sizzle out, I will set only 1 goal.
Goal for February
Log ALL food, regardless of how much or what I eat.
I believe that seeing everything I eat in black & white will help me to be more mindful.
Time for work!

When I walked the dogs it was hard to tell if I was seeing eclipse or just the moon partly covered by clouds. I pretended that it was the eclipse so I'd enjoy it more. Then the clouds totally covered it.4
-
Sue - that sounds like a fantastic goal to start out!

Morning, all... things are going well here... still getting used to being debt-free again, and going through the hassle of trying to close a bank account that's 1500 miles away is helping me understand that it's all really real.
Started something a week ago that has given me hope of being able to actually change how I look at food. Haven't said much, as it's something I've objected to quite strongly in the past--a specific way of eating, rather than just trying to move less and eat more. I've known for a long time that for me, counting calories forever just isn't going to happen. Call it what you want, but at some point, I simply lose interest. Also knew that fad diets aren't just bad for you, they're destructive. But at some point, I also had to acknowledge that I couldn't keep just trying to change myself meal by meal and failing miserably. Being angry at yourself 3 to 6 times a day is even more destructive.
I talk about it more on my blog than here because, bluntly, I don't want to encourage anyone to follow this path, or advise anyone that it works until I know that it does. And, because I am such a wart, I've done some modifications to the original plan. To the point that it's pretty much just their framework and my reality.
Nonetheless, it's working. For now. I'm really, really good at beginnings - sustained effort has never been my forte'. We'll see how it all works out. Sorry to be so vague... just happy, as my weight's headed in the right direction. Without medication or medical intervention. That's an interesting place to be for me, for the first time in a long time. Trying to lose enough weight by the 8th of March that, by the time I see the doc about knee replacements, she'll know I'm serious about making it work.
Love y'all,
Lisa in NC

Kelly: Congrats on the 3 lost pounds!!! :flowerforyou:
Becca: We found our own way when we started out our married life. Each looked at their parents & said I'm NOT doing XYZ. Then we set about figuring out what we liked and what suited us. It seems like your kids are in that stage where they are figuring out life after the navy. On the subject of phones & pics--I take a bunch and delete the ones that aren't appealing or are repeats. That is one of the joys of having a phone that is also a camera. On another subject--put me in the older than dirt list. :ohwell:
Lisa: Congrats on the sale of your TX property!!!!
Michele: Thanks for the good wishes on our travels. We're now with DS & DDIL. The flight was easy and it is good to be here for a while.
Heather: I am often envious that you are able to see your grands so often. My daughter and kids live 1739 miles from me. I'm lucky to see them once a year. DS and DDIL live even farther, 2800 miles away.
Rye: Congratulations on your weight loss! WTG!!!
Rita: I guess I'm in the older than dirt group too. The earliest phone number I remember is 36-332. I was in grade school and it was a party line.
Wendy: I'm so sorry that your daughter needs surgery. I hope all goes well. Prayers for a good outcome. :flowerforyou:
We are currently staying with DS and DDIL. Had a lovely sleep last night and are planning on "Thanksgiving Dinner" tonight. The grocery store had two frozen turkeys & we chose the smaller one. It is BIG compared to our usual birds.
Newbies, this thread will disappear tonight. Barbie creates a new thread for each new month and will post a link to the new thread at the bottom of this thread. She usually does this near the end of the day.

Omgosh! I actually woke up at 6am! OK, don't make fun, I get excited over the most simplest things... Can this become a habit? Hmm its nice to catch the news.
Wendy- prayers sent for your daughter! (((((((Hugs!)))))))))
Katla- It looks like you and your husband have found what works. Hugs, and enjoy your time with your family!
Personally, I'm pretty picky where I lay my head at night. I will admit I'm not the best traveler. I like my own routine, and it keeps me happily home. Of course we had fun staying at the Navy Lodges now and again. Beds were too crisp though!
Had a nice call from my eldest sister yesterday. We were both saying we missed Mom on Facebook, and then she called me. Its nice to share emotions, and her and I have really bonded over the years. When our middle sister gets strange we vent to each other. She has an upcoming trip to Montana to fix up a home her new husband and his ex both owned. A rental. Definitely something she does not wish to do. I confessed that we are patiently awaiting a call from the doctors to schedule his surgery. She understood my need to be here, and not on a trip to Montana. She said she was just whining. I said you are mad because you are having to take care of a problem they (her new husband and his ex) should've handled a long time ago. Hmm just call me Mrs. Obvious! She confessed she was... It was as always a calming breath of fresh air to yptalkj with her.

Happy Inspire Your Heart With Art Day!
Many of you share your art with us, and it certainly inspires my heart!
Drkatiebug - Wow, I didn't realize having your lungs freeze was even a thing!
Terry - Grilled cheese is such a satisfying comfort food. My perfect comfort lunch is to pair it with tomato soup.
Janet - Glad to hear your husband's surgery went well, and hoping that problem is gone for good this time.
Theresa - Welcome! Would love to see you on an outing with your two "babies" in the stroller.
Felicia - Thanks for letting me know you enjoy the "days." Some of them are pretty whacky!
Karen - Hurray for being on the mend!
Wendy - Oh, no, your poor daughter! Wishing her a swift recovery.
Michele - Yes, Lexi's prescription food is probably a special low protein formula for patients with kidney issues.
Kim - Oh, when we sold our home in Austin we got personal letters from the potential buyers too! They were pretty fun to read - pictures of the dogs, kids, etc. Unfortunately, we weren't able to sell to the ones we really wanted to.
Penny - I missed the lunar eclipse. The viewing window here was just too early... I can't get up that early, and I'm getting a little too old to stay up that late!
Okie - Congratulations - you had a great January!
I started calling banks and brokers yesterday, and sure enough... Dad left his financials very tidy, but they are still going to demand that the will go through probate. Dad's lawyer had warned me that the money guys tend to be more conservative about that. So now there are lawyers involved and there'll be a lot more waiting while we file for probate and complete a full list of assets. I've got some more calls to make today.
I've been really really good this week, but I only lost a pound. I'll take it, though.
See you in February!

WENDY Hope you're daughter recovers quickly, thinking good thoughts for you both
MACHKA love the moon photo, don't think we'll see it at all as we are covered in cloud, apparently we wouldn't see blood moon anyway.
RYE congrats on weight loss
DD has called to tell me she has to have camera down her throat (senior moment can't remember the name) to investigate a lump in her oesophagus which may be cancerous. The doctor says highly unlikely but can't help worrying.

well its 10:30 am here in Portland,Ct and have been up since 6
Did play bingo last night, got up got DGD on bus, then went and fed my DFIL and then got the other pups outside... and came home and threw a load of laundry in,now in the dryer... have written out a life list for Dan , and he reads and sets aside...only reality is going to hit him head on pretty soon.. he has relied on everyone to carry him all these years, and now he has to step up .. I told him to contact social services as there are people who can teach him life skills... this is what he needs...6 -
Yvonne - a pound is great! Any downward movement is a good thing!!!
Okie3 -
Wendy - What an upsetting situation. How great she has you. (((HUGS)))
KIM - It so much depends in the UK on the area and the demand and the price. Our village is well thought of, but I don't think there is a queue of people at our price range. It's not London, where you have to bid up. Houses seem to stay on the market round here for some time.
I had a lovely lunch at the pub with my new yoga friend. I had two starters as usual. Parsnip soup and braised kidneys with a green salad. No carbs. I love kidneys, but DH is so-so. They remind me of Paris and the old fashioned bistros.
I came home and did an extra 150 calories on the recumbent cycle. We were going to walk there and back, but it was windy and wet and we like to glam up a bit for lunch. So she drove.
My cleaner kept going on about how wonderful I was looking. She always says, "I hope I'm like you when I'm your age" I was wearing a sequinned t shirt which is age 12 , tight jeggings, heeled ankle boots and a faux leather bomber jacket. And tassle earrings. Definitely not dressing my age. And why not? - I've worked very hard for it!
Katla - So happy you are getting some family time in.

Yvonne in TX, when I was a little girl, my Mom fixed bologna sandwiches and we'd dip them in the tomato soup! It was good, but now, I'd rather have toasted cheese!
Becca
Ps you can't type only and pound in the same sentence!! Congrats!2 -
Yvonne, Terry, Beccaand others eating or thinking of grilled cheese or melted cheese sandwiches: Have you seen the recipes floating around for the cauliflower or zucchini "bread" grilled cheese sandwiches? A lot of work, but if you prepped the cauliflower or zucchini before hand, drained it well; you could store it and use it on a later day. They look delish! And no bread! Mmmmmm!
Yvonne- Congrats on the loss! Down is good!
Heather- You make me want to live where you do, just from sharing your day to day roamings and errands! I think you should make a video to advertise your place! You could even wear the sparkly outfit you wore to the pub!!
Allie-Does your son normally live on his own? Perhaps if he could become involved in a support group it would help him. Sending you hugs! You are in my thoughts constantly!
Penny- I didn't think that there were areas of our world that didn't see the moon! Not sure how my brain slid over that fact; since it already knew that you don't see the sun for half the year! I will never take my moon/sun for granted.
Machka- Great moon pic! Like many places; it was too cloudy, here, to see anything. I did see the moon yesterday evening and it was BIG and low in the sky and a yellow orange. I like the moon in whatever shape or color.
Thanks for the reminder about this being the last day of January! Will look for Barbie's post that takes us into February tonight/tomorrow morning!

Today is my 800 th day in a row of logging on MFP. It was broken when I was in the hospital to have left knee replacement. I never thought to take my tablet to the hospital and at that time had no idea I could have the app on my phone.8
