I had a bulb light above my head moment. Yes, I know, it surprised the heck outta me too! So when people start trying to eat healthy yadda yadda, and they see foods all over they can't have my thoughts are, "instead of concentrating on what foods you can't have, look forward to the foods you can have. So for me, not putting white sugar on stuff I say, I get to have honey, and a bit of brown sugar. Instead of saying I can't have that pastry, or cookie, I say, I get to eat foods that feel good in my gut, not foods that sit there making me crunch on anti acids. I eat foods that fuel me, and that alone makes me feel mauvalous!
So for these 4 -5 days the scale has not budged at all! Yes, I have to look at it as a victory! Sometimes I need to stop and appreciate where I'm at, regain my footing, to move forward. And I suppose my body is fighting change.
Rebecca's body: "Why is she giving us less????? This is madness!!! I can't work with all this pressure!!! What??? She wants us to downsize.??... But...butt...but, I have cute little fat cell mouths to feed.... She is heartless! I shall declare mutiny!! She will have to really work for every lb lost, while I'm here!!
Me: *looking at my scale oh so not budging,* Oh you are so on.... I can hold out longer than you!!!
So that's my life in a nutshell! I channeled a belly dancer last night while exerdancing, and I got a aside cramp! So my body is really rebelling!
Rebecca's body: Ahoooooga....ahoooga, evacuate hip area, she's trying maneuvers that are out of safety regulations!!!!!! Fat Cell Scotty yells, "I'm giving at all I can captain, but I can't shut her down, without implementing side ache proceeedures! Captain yells do it!!!
Me: * long sighs* heavy breathing.... Aack!

Hi Sisters, wow, my calves are sore this morning from climbing hills with a pack on yesterday! Good sore. But I am up two pounds on the scale. I am believing you Machka, that this will go away and is just from intense exercise.
Kylia, I took photos with my phone which I then sent to my facebook page. I ticked Just Me so only I can see them. From there, I hop on my laptop and open the pics on my facebook page and save them to my desktop where I can find them quickly. Then I open this page on myfitnesspal and hit reply so I've got the empty box. Then I click on the picture icon that shows a circle and a triangle (sun and mountain?) and it gives me the option to search for a photo to insert. I search my desktop, select the photo I want and I think I have to OPEN it and then I can post it on here and it shows up. I dont know how other people do it but I think there are some different ways.
You won't believe it but all of a sudden my husband wants to talk to me. When I got back from my hike he actually wouldn't shut up all evening. LOL. It's like all this stuff has been bottled up inside him for whatever reason and someone pulled the plug and its all coming out at once. I enjoyed it while it lasts, LOL. It wasn't deep conversation for the most part, but he was excited because his friend's horse won a big race. And he'd had a bit to drink. He told me last night that I can stop making queens for the season. He went through hives yesterday and found they were all shutting down for the coming cold season. This will give me a lot more time so I feel happy. So many other things I need to get caught up on! I have got my van booked in next week to get the water leak sorted and find out if it is a cracked head, or head gasket or what. We got a small pay out of the money that is owed to us, enough to fix my van and take care of taxes and other bills, so some of the financial pressure has eased off.
Pip thanks for your sweet comment. I wasn't even sure I wanted to post that picture because I think I am so "bottom heavy" at the moment and ten pounds over where I usually try to be. But really, I should be grateful I have strong sturdy legs that will carry me up mountains and quit wishing they were sticks. LOL Here is a group photo from the hike that the leader sent me. I am squatting down.

Ah - and everything changes, and yet, nothing does, in an instant.
Took the kids out to see their mom, who is part of a medical battalion. It was "Family Day" for the whole battalion, which has been in the field for the last eight days, about 20 miles from the house, all tents set up (spread over ACRES of ground, seriously), working the kinks out for an eventual deployment. Come to find out, the "eventual" is an exaggeration. They expect to get the news in one to two weeks of where they're going--which we most likely will not be privy to. And yes, my daughter is going with them. Once they get the word, they have to be on their way 20 days later. So... right now, my son-in-law is due back the first week of April. His wife, our daughter, is probably headed out a week to two weeks after that, if they're lucky enough to get that much time together. Please note, they've only seen each other for 30 days of the last year, as it is. They were apart for six months before Kels and the kids got assigned here--as Brian was in Airborne school.
But, for once, they were thinking ahead--and my co-mother-in-law, Brian's mother, will be on her way here, both to welcome him back and to take our place taking care of the kids. She's already agreed to do it, and she and her husband are the type that do what they say they'll do.
I am torn between worry that my daughter's going to be in a war zone, joy that my son-in-law will be back safe stateside (all good thoughts for that welcome), and relief that our own plans can move forward as we've already decided, and that we will get to leave together. We will have done what we said we'd do--made sure Kelsey and the kids were OK while Brian was overseas... It will be both a relief and extremely hard to leave, all at the same time.
The kids didn't recognize their mama in full battle gear today, not until she took off her helmet. Some tough days ahead. The picture below is after they finally did. Still trying not to cry.

you can buy compression sleeves for your calves, that'll help and up your magnesium intake, I have pills that I buy for that..3 -
Lisa- deployments are so hard on the families! Those kids are lucky to have such caring grandparents that are able to help in these times. Hugs to all!
Work was crazy busy. Only one grumpy customer! He just didn't listen when he was given pricing in January. Didn't have a problem with the price when I called him the beginning of February, but now has a problem???? Whatever... If you had a problem don't wait almost 2 months to bring it up. The rest of my customers were great! Lots of smiles! Last customer of the day informed me that her husband passed away last week. She started crying. Hug time! I told her we would help where we could. I liked him, he was a nice person to me. Sad
Wendy- thank you will have to try later!
Had my 15 minutes of quiet time, now to help my DH change calipers and rotors on his car. Wish me luck! I better do it right since I drive it!
Later ladies!

Heather, this made me cry. That is the sweetest thing ever and Happy Mother's Day to you tomorrow. This is how I'm feeling about my grandson right now he is absolutely over-the-moon in love.
By the way it's a funny coincidence, my oldest daughter is Megan and my grandson is marrying a Megan.

Today bought some fun things eating wise for the hospital. So this will be what I'm consuming the next week or so:
Individual prune packets
Individual Mandarin orange cups
Packets of Pike's coffee. Just add hot water! Comes in a tube.
Granola bars
Cut veggies
An insulated bag for my spinach, veggies, some apples and my Baby Bells cheese!
A small container of dried cranberries, walnuts and sunflower seeds
Couple of microwaveable minute quinoa and brown rice.
I think while husband is getting surgery and recovering, I shall be on my own journey. Eating like I mean it, journaling, doing crosswords, walking, listening to Pandora, and reading some books from the library (that we're visiting on Monday). A journey of self discovery!!

Becca, oh my! How I laughed at your description of your body vs your eating plan! It's so true tho!
Lisa, happy for you that your plans won't be derailed, lucky kids indeed to have grandparents on both sides who will step in and help out. Hugs that your daughter has a safe deployment. Also keeping your son-in-law in mind and that he gets home safe and sound.
Kylia, how nice it is to have a decent day at work! Sorry to hear that working with/for family is such a hassle sometimes. I do agree with you tho, good help is not easy to find these days! It's truly unfortunate when it's someone in the family.
Heather, it really is surprising what a woman can do for our sons! I got cards from my son on Mother's Day, but the year he got a girlfriend (soon to be his wife!) I got a potted plant! (and a card!)
Husbands! Mine goes one way then the other. We will have grand chats, usually not really deep or philosophical, but good ones, but then will go for lengths of time with no talking. It is comfortable silence tho, so we seem to be okay with it. I do find he opens up more when we go for walks, and I do think there is a lot to be said for the side by side thing, nobody has to look at anybody, have to watch where we're going, but can get some good talking done. We still make each other laugh and I think we've reached the point where we don't have to work very hard on our relationship, we can do little things that let the other know we care. I would rather have him do a few little things to make my life/day easier than some grand gesture. Although I wouldn't say no to a nice bouquet of flowers either..
Today is a work day, not so busy that we're overrun, but just busy enough to keep boredom at bay. Looking forward to quitting time, NOT looking forward to changing the clocks ahead tonite. Sure wish we could just dispense with the whole business. It will be nice going home in the daylight again, but in two weeks or so that would be happening anyway! Have to figure out which of my time display devices will change time automatically so that I can make it my alarm tonite as I have to work tomorrow too. Sure don't want to be late! lol
Hope everyone has a great day/night!

Back on again! Don't know if I need a good talkin' to or a hug - bad sugar day! I have been on the straight and narrow since December but we traveled a week ago and I "let loose" with food choices. I have been struggling ever since. Major cravings for sugar and fat. Stop the insanity!
Brief bio:
I live in Minnesota - so right now that means we are in snow up to our waists! I'm ready for Spring, thank you very much. My husband and I have 2 great kids, both still at home - one in college and saving $$ by living at home in hopes of earning his degree without debt, and one graduating high school this year. We homeschool, so once our youngest is done this Spring it's back to work for me. I'm a little apprehensive about jumping into the workforce again. It's been 3+ years.
Hobbies: camping, gardening, reading, movies, travel (which has been on hold for a few years).
Exercise: walking, T-Tapp
One dog: a bichon-poo named Tucker. He's getting up there in age and getting a bit silly. We love him a lot.
Looking forward to chatting!
Jacque

Hi friends. I hope you had a nice Saturday. I had to go to “skills summit” at the college, then did some deep cleaning, a bit of exercise, and later I’m starting to organize the closet. I have 3 book projects to organize also. I’m not sure what’s up with the site, but every other post is blank!
Allie: I know what you mean. Even though my dad’s affairs were well in order, it still was a daunting task that took nearly a year to get through. (((hugs)))
Ginger: I’m sorry for your loss and tough times (((hugs))) to you too.
Rori: congrats on the retirement! Everyone I know says they are so busy in retirement they don’t know how they had time to work!
Kylia: awesome stepping! My fitbit is somewhere in the office mess!
Heather: only you could make such a yummy dessert!!!
Bwcetc: I can see that your kids are home. Hooray!
Michelle: I love the effects of the time change but hate losing that hour of sleep!!!
Coffee&pie: welcome aboard! That must have been a scary time for you. Good for you to take it to heart, pun intended. Sugar is addictive, I think that’s all there is to it! What shall we call you?
Katla: DH has only been gone 3 ½ months ☹ . we are hoping for halfway house or back to home confinement at 36 months. Home confinement is a misnomer; it’s the ankle bracelet thing, but he doesn’t have to stay at home. It does feel longer though!
Well I don’t know what’s going on here, either my PC or the site, but I have been kicked out twice now and still can only see about ½ the posts…no pictures of anything, so I’ll post this and head out. Welcome to any newbies I missed!
Take care, Meg from cool Omaha where the robins have just come out!8 -
I heard a bird sing this morning as I stepped out to get the paper! It was very exciting, I feel for the folks still up to their "you knows" in snow and other such nonsense! Hopefully spring will come soon for everyone. Well, except for those of you in the other hemisphere, here's hoping you have a pleasant autumn!

Beautiful day here in the Hill Country. We took the convertible out to stretch her legs and enjoyed the sunshine! Tomorrow is supposed to be 30 degrees cooler with possible rain.

I don't like daylight savings time. I get up at 4 AM on the western edge of my time zone and go to bed at 8 PM. Thus I lose daylight that is useful to me and gain it after I go to bed.6
