Finally got around to changing my profile pic. It says "Don't be a window licker"...LOL. Don't know what that means but don't be one just to be on the safe side.
Becca - I am totally impressed with your packing and housecleaning! Feel free to pull in here any time and put your talents to work, lol.

Ahhh.....no! I'm a terrible cleaner! Great mover, terrible cleaner! If I cleaned under the frig on a daily basis, I might've not had such a job to do. I'm a decent surface cleaner. Here on the coast with all the hotels and vacation homes, there is always a need for housecleaning people. My husband would hint, and I would state to him, I would be such an angry woman!! Nope definitely not a job I would ever do! I could pull in and maybe dust a table or two for conversation and a cuppa!

Thank you all for your concerns, thoughts, and prayers.
An update ...
My husband has a chest infection, which they are treating. These are not unusual when on a ventilator.
My husband has a blood clot in his right shoulder and arm, which they are treating.
Those two things are only incidentally related to the main issue: My husband's brain injury from the accident he had on March 22.
He has been in an induced coma since he was admitted to hospital on March 22 in order to keep him and his brain calm so that healing can take place.
They are just starting to ease the sedation off and he has been responding to voice (people calling his name) by opening his eyes a tiny bit. He's not seeing or focusing ... it's just a subtle little response.
They cannot assess him and his brain function until he is fully awake.
There is still a long way to go.
And I'm tired.
Meanwhile, I've got a heap of things to do regarding all this ... paperwork, forms, meetings, appointments.
I'm also continuing with my university course. My instructor has been very helpful.
And my employer has given me lots of time off to deal with this. Plus my work colleagues have been very helpful with many things. I see one or another of them almost every day and am in daily email or text contact as they check up on me and assist me with various things. One day I do plan to return to work ... probably half days for a while.

Machka, thanks for the update. Life is so hard sometimes. I am so glad you have been able to focus on some other aspects of your life. Hugs and prayers.

Thanks ladies for the well wishes on my job position! Now I have to go back to school. I will get STEM certified since that is the new trend here in Arizona. Very fun way to teach. Always nice to get new ideas.
Lisa - Happy Birthday! I hope you have a fantastic year ahead!
Kate - I would be very excited about your kettle bell! And I know you were going to enjoy it!
Machka - (((hugs ))) and prayers for you and your husband. I am so glad that you have a lot of support around you.
Have a fantastic day everyone!

A substitute cleaner this afternoon at a slightly later time. Threw my day out of whack.
I didn't do any editing this morning . Didn't go running because it was pouring with rain and didn't go to the dump with DH because I was waiting for the cleaner who got lost. :grumble: DH went off alone and also shopped alone. I did manage to get on the recumbent bike for my bonus calories and tidied my "holiday" drawer. So not an entirely wasted day.
Oh, and I watched my elder son on Utube, demonstrating some exploding toy grenade thing. He is a keen Airsoft player and writes for the magazine. Nice to see him being more confident these days and happily engaging with his friend, the editor.
I would have liked to have saved the video, but didn't know how to.
Feeling a bit unsettled.

Machka,
Although we don’t know each other, my heart certainly goes out to you. You have such a heavy load right now. I’m glad to hear your instructor and coworkers have been helpful. I prayed for you and your husband and hope things change for the better quickly.

Machka: I am so glad you've posted. It helps to know that there are signs of healing for your DH. Hugs and prayers.
I saw the first Osprey of the season sitting on top of a piling this morning. She was perched on one of the prime fishing spots. It is nice that she's here --proof that spring is moving along.
Dog goes to the groomer this morning, and I have half an hour to get him there.

Lanette in SW WA I take 2 shots every other day. Left arm for pollensand plants. Right arm for molds and animals. Each bottle so far started at small doses and went up to a set dose dose where it stayed until I received 14 shot days (28) shots. Then next strength serum and back to the low dose working up to the full dose. For me, a new bottle starts at 0.08 ml then increases slowly to .40 ml..
I went through this 10 years ago in TN 4 times in 4 years from 4 different doctors. (Problems with insurance). Each doc started with allergy tests then the same process for shots. And yes, the shots do help.

Barbara in Oregon we love anything alien related. We have been to Roswell and White Sands so far. Both fun and interesting. We watch the skies all the time for UFO’s ( and that doesn’t necessarily mean alien craft jus unknown lughts) and have seen many lughts in the sky that are UFO’s to us. Being in New Mexico where there are many military test bases and space ports, could be anything, at least it is fun for us to experience!

Spring in the desert is so different from New England or TN for that matter! Watching the cactus turn back to green from purple. The creosote bushes have turned greener and make these tiny yellow flowers. The ocotillo cactus, which look like dead crown of thorns have tiny green leaves and fiery red blooms starting on the top. (I’ll try to get a pic). And our menagerie is growing. We now have a small lizard, kangaroo rats (desert mice that jump to catch moths), morning doves, a thrasher, some other small birds yet to be identified, bunnies, and hares. So much fun to enjoy nature!

Machka, sending you all the positive calming thoughts I have four you and your husband. You are so strong, and handling things. Give yourself permission to feel all the emotions though. Somewhere safe, quiet, it will keep your body healthy, dealing with the chaos and uncertainty of life right now. I know for me, it was scary to let myself go there. Like if I cried, I'd never stop, but I did, and I got back up. I had to be strong for husband and my son. Brave faces do come off, but they can be put on again! Hugs to you!!!

Machka - I missed your post before I posted last. I've been thinking of you such a lot. So glad your colleagues are rallying round and everyone is being understanding. Having to just wait must be the worst thing. We have you always in our thoughts.

Mary, congrats on getting an exciting job. What is "earth science" exactly?
Machka, thanks for taking the time to let us know the latest. It must be so difficult waiting for any little bit of progress, but the body takes time to heal. You are under mental pressure, having to be the strong one and make all the decisions. I am sending you strength and healing for your husband.
Lisa, I am like you. I don't want all that fuss about my birthday. I am going riding today with my Aspergers student and then tonight is my husband's farewell party at work and we are going out to dinner after that. Will have to squeeze my bum into the pantssuit.
Found out the new filly's registered name: Lady Aamira. I am going to call her Lady as I think it suits her. I played with her for an hour after work yesterday before dark, untangling her dreadlock mane, picking up her feet, brushing her, worming her, doctoring her cuts. Tried her out on some of my training toys, a whirligig and a rattle baton. She was not spooky at all, just curious and tried to taste them. I really love her attitude and nature. She nickered to me when she saw me coming out to the barn in the morning. She is what I call a "Tent Arab" the kind who would love to share your tent and be part of the family.

Hi all. How are there 14 pages already for April?
I'm having a bad week here; first DD#1 won't let me come over with Easter baskets, then she told me I can't text the BF, then last night she told DH he wasn't her father over the phone and that her real father died in and is buried in Russia. Of course that sent the poor guy totally over the edge. It's bad enough, but he can only talk on the phone for 15 minutes max and then it hangs up and he only gets a few minutes at a time on email. So it's like he can't communicate. So in addition to being angry and hurt, he's frustrated. And she has just been a *kitten* to me. She claims that we "threw her away" and don't want her in the family, then tells people to stop texting her. She's bound and determined to be a victim and live in chaos. We can't do it any longer.
So we came up with a plan. We are all disengaging with her and IF she contacts us (which she rarely does) we will say "I cannot respond until you communicate respectfully with everyone in this family." I will mail her birthday cards and the like and send cards to the kids. I'm opening up a savings account for them and I'll add the money I would spend on gifts and let them know in the card.
She has been bad for years, but all this behavior has gotten worse since she re-connected with birth mom in Russia a couple of weeks ago. She will find out that birth mom is not really interested in her probably but only in what she gets from it. The last time she called us she wanted their deceased father's house and money. We agreed to give her the house, but not the money. Never heard from her again.
I'm sorry to rant on and on about this. I'm sorry I am not as supportive of all of you as I should be and want to be. I am trying my best to take care of me and reach out to care for others. I do think about you all the time and miss the thread when I am not here.

Hi Gals,
Beth – sending good thoughts
The new profile pics are interesting, and like many of you I picked one that doesn’t have my face, but it is making me realize how dependent I was on the pictures to know who was who, especially if we forgot to sign our posts…
Machka – So glad to hear your work place is being supportive and that progress while slow is beginning to show up. I can only begin to imagine how exhausted you must be with worry, for him, and all the “chores” of running life on your shoulders. Sending ((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))) and thoughts of caring.
Pip – the 12th is not to long a wait….
Meg – Vent all you want, we each have our time when that is all we can do, and it’s the best thing we can do! I like the idea of the savings account, but not sure I’d tell her about it, Just let the money pile up and when the time is right, pay for something “bigger” with it.

Kim ~ The story about my profile pic. It is a photo of a very small vintage pin that I have in my collection of costume jewelry. I tried to sell it on eBay but it never sold. A painted porcelain face decorated as a flapper.
