40+ Club : Where the Cool Kids Are

Hey kids. Today is my fast day, so since I logged on to log my little bit of breakfast, I figured I would give all of you guys in the Great White North a look at spring. This was Easter weekend at Torreya State Park. This is the last water source before you get to the Torreya Challenge Trail campsites. So if you forget, it's a 20 minute walk back to get water.

If you do skip the water source above, you can go about 20 minutes past the camp to reach this site. Sometimes I walk here to cook supper if I get into camp too early.

Hey 40+ peeps! Looking for any buddies to help me get on this! I've got a last 16lbs to go but this bit seems tough! Please feel free to add me!!3

5.5 mile run yesterday. Roads were clear enough to run on again.
No slips. No falls.5 -
great photos larrodarro!
Yesterday, I did get my lifting done. And had my Mother's Day celebration with my 3 kids....oldest kid is going on band-tour next week and won't be around for Mama's Day. We had fun playing away the afternoon at a board-games cafe! Oldest and I could enjoy a glass of wine and the younger two made due with slurpee-style concoctions.
So, my "eating" was NOT on-plan yesterday, due to the "surprise" mother's day....but, I am fine and even though my tummy kind of hurt afterward, I'll be okay.
Back to protein and veggies ONLY, today!4 -
I've been in audit for the bulk of last week, but should be finished by Friday, so I'll be back on track this weekend. Still hitting my loss goals, but not keeping up with lifting or running and suffering for it.0

Greetings kids, hope all is well. Love all of the photos. Our group totally rock. Gam3rguy, you are due to post some action photos. Welcome back Larro and 3furballs. I couldn't get out of the bed this morning and decided to take a hot evening Pilates class instead. I wish I didn't get bored so easily. Off to have a glass of wine. Good night kids.2

30 minutes on the bike. I was going at a pretty good clip, except when I had to take a call from an employee. “Are you OK? I can hear you breathing.” I slowed up a bit at that point.1

We are the cool kids right.3

7x400 on the treadmill, then bolted home for a video call. Threw on a sweater over my workout tank, brushed my hair, and almost looked work-appropriate. Almost.allenpriest wrote: »Been working crazy hours to get to the US tax filing deadline of April 17. I've done little for sux weeks but work eat work sleep a little and work. Happy End-of-Tax-Season!1 -
Had races this last weekend - managed to highside myself on my third race of the weekend, but we got the bike back together and my D-Air suit did its job and we made it back out for my last race of the weekend. Not too sore, all things considered.
Sister is visiting this week though, so no gym, but we did for for walk yesterday and moto rides both days.
Pics from the races:

Hi, I am 45 and I will soon be getting a gastric sleeve to help reduce my bmi. Obesity is something that my mothers side of the family has fought with for generations. I lost my mother in 2008 from cancer of the throat due to being bulimic since she was 16 and I didn't even have a clue. I have never done anything like that, but honestly, I can see the appeal and yet coming from a medical background I have always known what the dangerous ways of trying to get "skinny" can do to your body.
When I started at the end of last month I was at 275. I am currently at 260 and will keep on working on it. According to the surgeon, the surgery outcome could be that I would go down by half my current weight. I haven't been at that weight since high school. My reason for going this route is that I want to be healthy. I want to be able to go hiking for miles or get back into horseback riding on long trails. Just being active and getting the most out of life. I want to be alive when my children have kids. I want to finish my novel.
So I have a lot of goals, and I love to encourage others and be a friend. So feel free to add me. Thank you5 -
Hi!
Glad to join the cool kids. :-)
I have been really struggling for a couple years to stick to my medically 'safe' diet - I have a lot of allergies with low to moderate level reactions. So I can cheat a little, and feel crappy, but not die. And I've been doing that off and on for a few years now, because the diet is SO restrictive I have a lot of trouble with it (no gluten, dairy, soy, eggs, or shellfish, with almost no fish, nuts, seeds, beans, or most grains. Plus a few random foods, too. :-/)
But this year, I made myself a promise on my son's 16th birthday that i was going to spend this entire year eating only what I am supposed to, because i want to be healthy for myself so I can try to go hiking and out in the wilderness again, and for my kiddoes so I can be there more for them, too, you know?
So far, it's 2 months now and I have been doing well. I've lost 14 pounds in the last 3 months, too, which is great as well! I'm really working hard to keep things going the right way!

Happy Friday kids. Honeybadger love the photos. Full body weights today. Welcome newbies. Have a great day kids.1

Made an attempt at strength training today, but it was pretty lame. I need a plan. I will research this weekend. My goals are injury prevention for running and general fitness.
Also rowed 20 minutes.2 -
Needed a quick workout this morning. We did "20 hard minutes" - sprints interspersed with casualty drag, weighted carries and pushing the prowler. On a 50 second cycle - 24 rounds takes 20 minutes. You know it was intense - no one was talking at the end.2
