janetr: I love the new message that you posted, "When you believe in yourself you have 100% of the people you need on your side." I like it, and may add it to my quotations list, if you don't mind. :flowerforyou: My motor-home driving experience is pretty limited so far, but I hear that old song in my head, "I can do anything you can do better . . ." So far, so good.
Heather: Vivaldi is one of my favorite composers. Enjoy Four Seasons for me this evening.
Meg: I am so sorry you are experiencing such a huge loss of companionship. It isn't your fault, yet you are paying a huge share of the consequences for your DH's actions
Margaret: I love your painted fence. It was very much worth the time and trouble in my opinion.
We took the new to us RV to the repair place to have the left front suspension fixed. After that is done, we're ready for a road trip. I hope this guy doesn't operate on Hawaiian time. I want to give it a test run. If it is done soon enough, we'll head over to Eastern Oregon to see DSIL before her surgery. Otherwise we'll see her in the fall when they head this direction.

Hi Gals,
Lisa – what a gorgeous home. Glad to hear that all that’s left is the waiting..sometimes the hardest part but you can do it. And time to make some plans, without paying on 2 places at the same time.
Heather – LOVE hearing about your trips, I have never considered cruising but you make it sound fun.
Allie – sorry to hear about your feet and legs being sore, when I know I’ll have a long day on my feet, I do the best arch support I can; but also change shoes ½ way through, the change up seems to help my feet not be so affected by the long day.
All newbies welcome
Katla – great job driving the RV - It’s not that hard! I drove a school bus in a past life… Funny story: we went camping for our vacations when I was a kid, my mom hates tent camping; no sleeping on the ground or bugs for her – so we did tent trailers, small trailers, trucks with campers; and RVs – My dad would talk to everyone he could to find a “rig” some friend owned that we could borrow; occasionally we would rent. One time in Oregon or Washington, my mom ended up driving the RV through a small town and clipped rearview mirrors all the way down the street…. She couldn’t find a place to pull over till the end of the main street, my sister and I had to walk back down the street and put notes on all the cars that she had damaged… My dad was so mad! But most of the folks whose car mirrors mom hit were just moved not really damaged, I made my sister go get the pie mom had made for dinner and paper plates and most of the folks took pie from us kids instead of making us pay for the mirrors to be fixed. Mom didn’t drive again that trip!
This is the week for my colonoscopy and while the drinking the clean out stuff is still to come, my medical provider has a pre-routine that is making me crazy. So for yesterday and today it is no fruit, no veggies, no coffee or alcohol, no whole wheat, nuts, seeds, beef, pork or game meat. – so white rice, white bread, skinless chicken breasts, tofu, fish, dairy, and all the sugar I want. And drink 8 ounces of water every hour I am awake. I am missing fruit and veggies! Tomorrow is just clear liquid, then as I have an early morning appointment Thursday it is up and down all night on a crazy schedule drinking the clean you out stuff. It seems so counter to everything I have worked so hard to learn, and really boring; as very few spices are allowed either, nothing with a red tint (chili, paprika, peppers, or any herbs)
I have talked to a lot of folks and this is the most restrictive of anything anyone has done. Just my luck!

So I don't do it this time. I do buy my step-kids and in-laws gifts, but they are from me, not us. If my husband wants to communicate with his family and buy them gifts, he can do it himself. This is exactly what we had to do for our colonoscopies. Your doctor isn't the only one giving these instructions. I did my prep at home & let DH drive me from home because I was too much of a cheapskate to rent a hotel room near the place. It was an unpleasant lesson with nearly 40 miles of feeling the urge. Luckily my insides were empty so it wasn't as horrid as adding an "accident" to the list would have been. When it was DH's turn, he did his clean out process in a hotel less than a mile from the surgery center. I recommend staying as close by the place as you can. The procedure itself was not unpleasant. The prep was the worst part for both of us.
With all sympathy,

Barbara, I broke the ankle because my foot fell asleep then crumbled under me when I tried to stand. I have a history of injuries to this ankle. It is my short leg, my weak knee, and my weak ankle. As to the mammogram expense, it’s complicated, and they did cover some, but....
If we had waited one more week, and coded it preventative, insurance would have covered 100% of the mammogram and would not have done the ultrasound because they wouldn’t have deemed it necessary. If it had been coded preventative at the time I had it done, insurance would have paid zero. As it was, with being coded diagnostic, insurance paid for both, but I had to pay my share and my deductible needed to be met as well. Hence my share was $630. This happened to me once before with a colonoscopy. The doctor freaked because there was blood in my stool and coded the colonoscopy diagnostic. I had to pay $1000 for that one. The next time, he coded it diagnostic due to family history and insurance paid 100%. I’m still going to see the surgeon on July 10. I just love paying for doctor’s.
Back to the ankle, my DH gave me a lecture about how as I get older I need to plan my moves better when transitioning, especially from a seated to a standing position. Don’t I feel old?
My boot, my scooter and I went to annual conference today and did just fine. I sat on the front row with my scooter in front of me out of the flow of traffic. It actually wasn’t bad. There is a zippered pouch on the handlebars for all my stuff. What’s rough is sleeping in the darn boot. Not comfy. Surprisingly, pain meds are not necessary.
Lisa, congrats on the House. It has great potential. I can’t wait to see what y’all do with it.

Evening Ladies
Just went through a boatload of pictures,to give to my daughter for the wedding.Family that is no longer here...wow will have to set some time aside when there is yucky weather and sort through them all,and sort of get them into groups of Families..
Tom watching the lil guy tomorrow afternoon as they are coming to put in the microwave, and Doug is going to put down the strip between the carpet and laminate floor...and that will be that ...got the condo Documents from real estate agent.doug sent them to but will download them onto my laptop.
Mary the curmudgeon at work is ticked off.. because our office manager is away next week, and I am leaving early Friday, because of closing, and wedding, her son graduates the night before.and all she can do is complain that she will be up all night and she has to work the next day and I'll be no help because I will only be there a few hrs.
When I am sitting in the office with her,I answer the phones, make the appointments, field from every which way ,while she texts away on her phone or gets up and goes to talk to someone...she could have taken the day off,but she never goes anywhere or does anything with her husband or son...
Not my fault I have plans, and the closing was changed by attorneys not me..
Ok rant over lol...
Well I'm.hitting the hay..nighty night.2 -

Did the bonus sections of the Totally Hot Cardio DVD since that didn’t take a long time. Had an appt. with the MD about my trigger finger. He gave me a cortizone shot but I suspect that I’ll have to have the surgery for it in the near future. The plan for tomorrow is to do a Gay Gasper Urban Rebounding DVD
Lisa – that’s wonderful about the house!
Katla – Vince always says to me “never go for your CDL license”. I would NEVER drive a motor home as large as yours
This not being able to use my thumb really s*****. But I know it’s only temporary.
We’re planning to go up to PA to help Denise move this weekend. I convinced Vince to leave there Sun (I really am concerned about him doing too much). Jess called last night and asked that we visit Colby and Shadow. Then we’ll go to a ceramics place, then spend Sun night w/ my cousin’s husband (the cousin I was going to stay with last summer but she passed in the meantime) and get home Monday
Terrill – welcome back!
Where I got the wasp sting is still itchy, but not nearly as itchy and as often as it was. Still feel awkward putting my watch on, tho as I can see that I’m still somewhat swollen
Heather – oh no, bummer….
Rye – I never knew that I was doing a squat incorrectly until a personal trainer watched me and pointed it out. Now I’m VERY conscious that I use the correct form.
Margaret – I absolutely LOVE that turtle. How tall is it? It looks like it’s sitting on some concrete blocks. I’m thinking that you can use taller blocks, can you? What is the “eye” made of?
Drkatiebug – the way you broke your ankle sounds like how I fractured my ankle many years ago. That’s when we found out I had osteoporosis. Do you?

Michelle I like the idea of making Joe the turtle higher. The hosta has filled out and he is harder to see. His legs are made of wood too. Right now he is not sitting on anything. I am not sure what was used for his eyes. I call him Joe because the person who made him name was Joe.1

Traveled all day today. Got to Bluewater State Park in New Mexico but it was full. I called yesterday and they had plenty of spaces! DH got honery and we ended up backtracking 25 miles and staying the night in an RV Park where campers are packed in like sardines.
Off to Arizona tomorrow. Wish us better luck for our next stop.
RV Rita still in New Mexico7 -
Lots going on.
Lisa- happy for you and Corey. It looks like you have pecan trees in front of your house. Nice cottage industry. Lol
DrKatie- so sorry you broke your ankle. My DGS broke his foot, Jones Fracture, and has to off it for 6 weeks. He has a scooter and graduated 8th grade on his scooter.
Being an Air Force wife for 24 years, meant many movEs and starting over every few years. Since retirement we have been in the same community for 20 years and have made golf friends, water aerobics group friends, Sunday School friends but no really BBF. DH is perfectly happy at home with his computer but I need people so do a lot of activities like yoga, golf, water aerobics, bridge and book club.
DH is the oldest of 5 boys, two have already passed and one just diagnosed with cancer. He is very upset.
Heather- you and your hubby really take advantages of everything the cruise has to offer. We are suppose to leave July 2 if DGS is able to travel.

Awe sweet friend, lewy body dementia is like seeing death in reverse. My father had gone to have a romantic rendezvous with a lady friend in Palm Springs California, way back in 1997. My parents had divorced back when I was in high school. So while there, and after a round of golf, he had a stroke. Probably a bunch of mini strokes as well, but I remember putting Vaseline on his tongue while at the hospital, then he went to a rehab p!ace still in California, (he lived in Portland Oregon). The nurses there couldn't understand him. All he talked about were, numbers, dates, months. Over and over. I told them, "Well he was a banker". I remember reminding them that just last month he was an active 70 yr old man that had been playing golf.
Being that he lived in Oregon, at a facility there, I didn't get to see him as often as I could. I do remember my visits were profound, and memorable.
One visit I went with my middle sister. We were sitting at a table, another lady was there, the nurses saying she taught Ballet for many years. I asked her if she would mind if I sang. So I started singing my opera songs and my dear father who was now bald from rubbing his head over and over, stopped rubbing and leaned in. My sister whispered to me, "You have his attention". The lady just wept quietly. Afterwards, my dear father ate his chocolate milkshake. Always had to bring him a milk shake.
The nurses said you visited on good day! My father was quite handsome! Him and I on my wedding day.
I think this house chose me. I have been looking at this house for months before it was time to actually look! Some things happen for a reason. I feel blessed.
Hugs friend!!

When Vince came home from shooting tonight, he told me that he doesn’t know what he did, but his back is hurting him again. But you know what? He hasn’t said anything about not going up to Denise’s. I really really hope he doesn’t overdo it. He says his back is better than it was than earlier tonight. I don’t know what to make of this

Dreamt of my BFF this morning, as she was when she was well and happy. Comforting.
Tracey in AB, please know you did the right thing. Hoping that as she stabilizes she will understand you did not abandon her but set her on the path to recovery.
Margaret you said it better. Thank you!
Kay ((hugs)) how did you break the ankle? If the Dr was so concerned, why didn't ins cover mammo? You don't have to answer, but please don't stay away. Feel free to vent and whine at need
Dana love your happy swimmer smile!
Heather if you'll eat surströmming, can lutefisk be far behind? :noway: Like KJ I draw the line at limburger.
KJ love your walking rainbow and oobleck. Please can I come play at your house?... that is when the girls come back...
Machka I wish I'd channeled you last night. Then instead of playing Spider and FreeCell I'd have meditated, done the knee exercises and maybe even tried to meet my modest steps goal. Must remember I'll "feel a little better about things" when I do!
Lisa Eeeeee! When it all falls together like that it was meant to be.
Karen in VA, have a flowerbed full of Iris plants, only one of which bloomed this spring. It was a Dutch iris, not my fave. Thinking to relocate them all the the edge of the driveway and put something I like better in the bed. Any tips for the great relocation project? Then again I might just chuck 'em over the fence like someone mentioned their friend did awhile ago...
welcome Starsub, ScrapStitching, PastQueenDebra, Terrill from BC!
Time to get down on the floor and meditate, exercise. No excuses!
Thank you all!

60 g protein 9/11, meditate 9/11, walk one more step 9/11, knee exercises 9/11, 5/8 times walk Tumble, times SWSY 0/4, hang up or purge art 0
Barbara If you have Dutch iris, they may not do great being chucked over the fence, LOL!. Bearded iris, on the other hand, would probably bloom happily with that treatment, as it would leave their rhizomes exposed. Dutch iris roots are little bulbs that look like onions or shallots, and should be planted about 4" deep in a sunny location. If you have Bearded iris, cut or break off the rhizome so you have only the current year's growth left, check for rot/borers, and plant so that the rhizomes are left exposed. I relocated my Bearded iris to a slope. They should do great.
Tell us more about your BFF...

OMG- I just did this the other week. Not the ankle breaking part but slam down into the ground as my leg crumbled under me because I had not realized it was asleep. I was saved by my yoga mat which I had lazily not put away earlier. I don’t think I’d have broken anything but probably not have gotten away with just bruising.
Age may play into it some but really it was just careless of me to sit for so long with my legs crossed the way they were. I KNOW my leg is prone to falling asleep like that and I didn’t take care.
Take care of yourself now!

Michele - I think you were the only one who caught the news about the Hove house. I am still processing the probable loss of it. This is the second house down there that has gone "belly up" as we say.
Dr Katie - That sounds terrible! Many commiserations.
Off on a long trip today. It might be chilly as we are very near the Arctic Circle at the top of the Gulf of Bothnia. Taking my new fleece DH bought me.

Michele: I never expected to drive a 31foot motor home, but it wasn't a bad experience. I think we can have some fun with it together. We used to cruise on water in our sailboat, but DH can't do that anymore, so we'll be cruising on land. :flowerforyou: What is a CDL license?

Hi Ladies
I hope you don't mind I have been reading your posts and this looks like a great spot for me to be right now. I am barely over 50 and battling with menopausal weight gain, not much but want to get on top of it before it gets out of hand. I struggle with my diet due to being a vegetarian, I also have IBS which makes meal times challenging. To top it all off I live with a lovely man who has a serious addiction to cake, chocolate etc so I battle daily with the urge to eat bad things as there is always something in the cupboards.
My goals for June:
Lose 1lb a week minimum
strength training at the gym twice a week (so far this is going well)
increase my daily steps to 10,000 (struggling with this one as I sit down all day for work)
walk my dogs more often
rediscover my passion for running

Same here, Heather... But after your description of the chained process in Britain for home sales, I don't see how anyone successfully buys or sells a house there unless it's standing empty! It's hard here in the States... but so much harder there! I can see how you would prefer to just not think about it while you're enjoying your cruise on your favorite ship. Love all your pics and especially the joy in the pictures of you and your husband.
Katie, tremendous sympathy from me, and hope you heal quickly and well. So terribly frustrating when our bodies betray us in that way. Rye, glad you escaped with some bruises and no breaks!
Spent yesterday afternoon talking to home insurance agents on the phone... NOT my favorite way to spend hours of my life that I will never get back. And I'll spend more time this morning. My relationship with GEICO for car insurance outlasted my first marriage, probably 20 years with them all told, and I find it frustrating that, while they advertise home insurance, etc., they always palm you off to a "partner," in this case Liberty Mutual. So, in the end, the "discounts" that are supposedly available aren't, because it's a different company. They want to put an arbitrary replacement value on the home of nearly three times what we're paying for it, and won't budge from that stance. The only way to drop the monthly payment was upping the deductible. Very frustrating. And we have to pay the first year up front.
So, I'll talk to a couple of local independent agents this morning--because Progressive can't cope with the fact that I have no idea if the wiring was ever updated in the house. Short of ripping it down to the studs, I'm not sure there's actually a way to know, and won't lie about it... Blah.
On a better subject, am putting together a letter to my best friend to include with her birthday card... literally the only card I send anymore. The conversations here reminded me that it's time I tell her how much she truly means to me. Thank you for that.
And somewhere in all that, I actually need to get some work done today, as well.
Girding my loins in beautiful Northwest Arkansas--onward into the fray!
Love,
Lisa7 -
Greetings Ladies -
Katie -so sorry about your foot.
Heather - I can't even imagine the stress of trying to buy and sell a house there. A better house will come along.
Lisa - I recently changed our insurance and had the same problem, finding someone that would insure both our house and cars for a better rate than we were already paying. Several places were cheaper on the cars, but couldn't insure the house so no discount on the homeowners insurance negated the savings on the cars. Good luck!
Sammie - welcome!
I had a tough time getting moving this morning. I told myself to just get started, and as usual, once I got my walk started, I finished it. 9.5 times out of 10 if I just get started, I will finish because then I have 1) my exercise ring closed 2) my move ring closed and 3) my (arbitrary) 10,000 steps in all before I start my day. Now I will cool down, eat breakfast and get my work day started.
My yard guy didn't come Monday, he was going to be 2 hours late so we rescheduled to today. Since I work from home I'm here all day so I won't be waiting on him. I hope he shows up, fingers crossed.
Have a great Wednesday ladies!

Lisa. Telling your best friend how you really feel about her will touch her heart. It touches mine.
