9.1 miles - slower than I like overall, but started with some strides and didn't feel too bad once I got to the slower and consistent running.

The weather was still humid, but much better than it has been. Still too humid for me, not ready for this weather. I really needed a spring to ease me into it!4 -

So, being raised in a hunting family, and having lived in the southern US for a long time... that is not what I think of when someone talks about "packing" protection.

Ran during daughter’s soccer practice on the trail. It was a bit windy, maybe 70F tops, but no humidity. It was the kind of weather that I would have been chilled standing at practice in my t-shirt and shorts, but beautiful for a run.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that!
I'm used to seeing holsters everywhere. Or the real smart ones that just tuck it in their waistband.1 -

@girlinahat - your race activities sound awesome - so much fun! Hope your marathon is great and you have a really fun time with everything!
Lots more to catch up on but it will have to wait until tomorrow! I am too tired to update my mileage and respond to the posts tonight...2 -
My goal is 3 runs per week minimum with a total monthly goal of 70 miles.
And to keep up with this thread (sort-of)
So my plan was to go to the gym after my hair appointment. I chose to take some pictures downtown, because I am rarely in the area (my hair stylist moved her location a few months ago). There are little gardens nearby and some beautiful architecture. I also saw the Kurt Vonnegut memorial library....it was closed but at least I know where it is now.
Anyhow as I started to drive to the gym, I saw a weird cloud roll, shaped like a cocoon or tunnel...I don't think that I ever saw a cloud that weird...it was long large with deep gray...I wish I had taken a picture because it was spooky and I was driving toward it. By the time I got to the gym, it was raining very hard, and I was drenched before getting to the door. I promised myself to go to the gym twice a week and tonight was my last opportunity. I had a soggy squishy treadmill run, followed by a weight lifting session.
My hair was drenched as well. It is like buying a bouquet of flowers and having all the petals fall off before you can get it home. Bleh.
Not going to make goal due to have a late start. Oh well....maybe I can achieve 50 miles this month.
6/4....7.07 miles
6/9...1.07 miles (treadmill)
6/10...7.08 miles
6/12...7.19 miles
6/17....1.93 miles (treadmill) +weight lifting
6/19...4.35 miles.....hot and humid...whew!
6/21...2.4 miles (treadmill again)+ weight lifting
total= 31.1 miles
Goal is 70 miles.

Omg! @ereck44 when is this adventure? They currently have me working in the South Dakota/devils tower area.... if I am still up here when your adventure is we should totally figure out a rendezvous plan!
ETA- I haven’t been up here enough to have much input on the area... other than watch out for deer.
Cool! We are renting a house in Custer from August 26th to September 2nd. We wanted to avoid the Sturgis bike festival. Also I knew I would have a better chance of getting my vacation granted if we picked a time in late summer. How long will u be in the area? Definitely we should meet if you are still there.0 -

I no longer envy you treadmill runners and I will probably never step foot on one again. Not being able to “freely” change my pace is not fun. Lol. I was doing my warmup when my towel fell on the treadmill, totally messed up my balance and I went down and jacked myself up so horribly. Thank sweet Jesus I have a sense of humor, I just laughed at myself, and kept going. I think I’ll stick to running outside cuz even with the elliptical you still can’t “freely” change pace. Now I will baby myself for a couple of days cuz that s**t hurt. I played basketball and did MMA in college and have been hurt a lot worse but holy crap am I in pain. Treadmill skinned me alive. Lol
I love my treadmill but I have a fear of the thing stopping suddenly while I'm running. It happened once at a gym I used to go to. Power went out in the middle of my run, and THAT was a rude awakening. Ever since then I've been scared it'll happen again.
Treadmill mishaps are the worst! I have accidentally hit the stop button as well. Yeah, you really can't control the pace that much. Now I am just using the treadmill to warm up before lifting weights. I never think of it as a substitute for running outdoors.0 -

Accidentally hitting stop, or knocking out the safety key is so common in my world that bearly phases me anymore. I am just so graceful and coordinated!0 -
We were rewarded with cloud cover and a couple of rain showers during the 10K yesterday. No PR for me but that's ok. The last mile was all up hill. Over 300 feet in elevation gain which isn't a lot for most of you trail runners but I ended up doing a lot of walking in that mile. Here are a couple of pictures from the run.

6 very slow easy miles. I was surprised that I was a little stiff at first but finished much better. Race day tomorrow. Race finish is all down hill for last 2.5 so I'm going to conserve and go for negative splits early and start pushing after the half-way point. I used the virtual pacer feature for my last race and it seemed very good.

Looked like you were having fun on your 10K @Teresa502. Pictures are great!
Good luck on your race tomorrow @cburke8909! Sounds like you are ready!
Good luck on Sunday @ariceroni! I know you will kill it!
Hope to get back to running on Saturday. Calf/Achilles have felt great the last two days. Will go slow and short just to test it out.
Good luck to anyone else that is racing this weekend that I missed!3 -
J P Morgan Corporate Challenge last night. Temperatures had dropped to a very pleasant 66 deg F and the humidity was waaaaay down. Perfect conditions for a run. Except I just wasn't really feeling it. I needed a last minute pee and had to wait in line at the porta-potty which meant by the time I got to line up for the race I was quite far back and in with all the walkers. There were 7,000 runners which meant a lot of dodging and weaving and wasted a lot of my time. I couldn't get a rhythm going and ended up slowing right down and mentally throwing in the towel. Finished in 34:27 (9:51 pace) which is a good four minutes slower than my time last year. But it was a fun night out with my work friends, and that's why we run it.

-
@BruinsGal_91 - Sorry you weren't feeling it but at least you had fun with your work friends!
@Teresa502 - love the pictures! Great job!
Very humid here as well ... but I guess normal for the six months of humid weather in Orlando.1 -
Hello! New to the group. Getting back into running (again) after multiple attempts to be consistent with it. Yesterday I ran 4 miles straight without walking, so I'm pretty happy with that!
My goal for June is to run consistently for the remainder of the month. So run at least 5 times in the next 9 days. Looking forward to setting a distance goal for July!10 -
Got my run/walk in this morning. I was worried about the 3 min run/3 min walk because it was quite a jump from the 90 sec run/90 sec walk I was doing before but I did it! Turns out it was 2 sets of each so the jump wasn't as bad as I had anticipated. C25K day 1 week 3 is in the books! Rest day tomorrow so I will probably just walk.
2.46 miles in 38 minutes today.
