@shanaber Thanks for the props! I credit the cooler temps. Last time i tried that work out i petered. But it was 95+. Might be time to increase those running times!

It really is amazing how much time seems to pass in that millisecond too! Almost feels like you are in a movie and stopped to do an aside in the middle of a fight or something.

When I fell two weeks ago and rolled my ankle, it honestly felt like I was *placing* myself on the ground.0 -

Honestly, a few years ago when I looked it up, I was surprised too how much difference there was across the USA. I just do not think of USA being all that big and definitely not that tall (north to south).1 -

It does timing, and also parkrun barcode scanning (scanning the finish tokens and the personal barcodes).0 -
Re: Shin splints
A lot of times it is a signal about shoes but last week or so I had a run where I got shin splints. It wasn't the shoe. I hadn't been stretching much. I am super tight and definitely need to stretch more than I do. I started stretching, no more shin splints.6 -

Oh stretching is a must! That's my one big thing doing all this, stretches. I've actually taken up yoga during my lunch break to get more stretching in during the day1 -

It was raining so waited a bit to head out. Wrong decision. The temps weren't bad but man it was muggy. In better news, the back didn't speak up until last bit. We're getting there.
@RunsOnEspresso saw your post and immediately started stretching6 -
11.01 km along the Riverbank trails. The wild Saskatoon's are just starting to ripen so there were a few stops to adjust the Berry Load on the Tree Branch's. Which explains why my fingers have a dark purple stain. Packing for 2 weeks of rough bush/tent camping with some mountain runs tossed in for Emperor's Challenge training. Bear spray attached to the outside of my Running Hydration pack and a spare canister inside a 2nd pocket. Especially after my GP Friends had a dance around a trail with a grizzly bear last weekend.

I was supposed to do an Xterra trail event this morning but it was over an hour's drive away, and as I was only doing the mid distance, about 10k, I couldn't really be bothered. This is where I need a dedicated running crew. I have never had a support crew and it doesn't bother me except for the long drive to an from events. I'll note that for next year when entering different races. Instead I went out for a nice long run around the neighbourhood - a few extra kilometres but a lot less mud and waaaaay fewer hills.

June Running Update
Week 1: 26.6
Wasn’t able to run on a beatific morning to get to 36+. Had a mild knee discomfort/stiffness at the beginning of a couple of runs earlier in the week and it compounded on my long run yesterday where I now have difficulty extending or bending the leg. Seems like runners or jumpers knee which has to do with patella tendon based on my self diagnosis and consultation with Dr Google. On a rest/ice/compression/elevation treatment plan and clearly no running to see if time will allow recovery. Pretty bummed. Hoping no more than a week or two. Will see doctor if it doesn’t improve in the next few days to confirm it isn’t anything worse. Seemed to come from no where....thinking a hard track workout may have been a initial culprit and I’m nearing useful life of my shoes which didn’t help minimize the issue as it really didn’t feel painful until after running 2 hours yesterday and only now causing real pain and discomfort10 -

I have now been on MFP for three years. My starting weight was 223 lbs. My original goal was to lose weight, until I hit normal BMI. I passed that by and just kept right on going till I found a range I was good with. My range is 125 lbs to 135 lbs. I started walking when I first started MFP. After about nine months, someone asked me if I was a runner. I adamantly stated 'no'. After that day I thought about what the lady had asked and thought, 'why not?' I started running in spurts, no plans, just repeat in my head, 'don't stop'. Now here, I am pushing goals I never thought I would ever achieve. I ran a marathon a few months ago, now I just want to run, no destination, no alarming goal, just get up, get out and run. I thank everyone here for all the help, I have learned so much in reading about everyone. Thank you so much for the inspirations, insights and the smiles that go with my miles.25
