Hi all
: Busy time, rehearsal dinner tonight and Dson's wedding tomorrow. Don't know if my mom will make it or not. My sister is being a poop. They were supposed to be here before the 4th and bring mom up for the wedding. Then their DD came to their house with her kids and they decided to stay there and come up here after they were gone. I understand wanting to see and celebrate with her grandkids. But she afterwards made a Dr.'s appointment for this past Wednesday. It takes them 2 days to drive from Northern Cal to our place north of Seattle. They supposedly left yesterday so may get here tonight but probably not in time for the rehearsal dinner. Sister got one of those online certificates that allows her to do marriages, went out and bought a fancy robe. She is frustrated and angry because my son and his fiance will not allow her to officiate at their wedding and her own son and his fiance will not allow to officiate at their wedding either. This is my son's 2nd wedding and they are keeping it very small so did not even invite DS and DBIL. Had we known they were going to be so stinky about it we would have flown mom up for the weddings. I am taking lorazepam, trying to keep busy and not eat.
We have a bumper crop of blueberries this year after babying the bushes for 3 years. Yum, yum!
Allie - Sorry about the results of the tests.
Kelli - You enjoy that boy!
Bandit is pretty sure he knows what is at the end of the rainbow.

Kelly - give Joaquin a big hug from me. He is a doll.
One of the things I love about retirement is having the time to cook. I never really cooked before since it is just me.
I stopped at an East Texas farm stand for tomatoes on my way home from visiting my mom over the 4th. A large basket of delicious home grown tomatoes for $5.00. There was more than I could use, so I made Southern Summer Tomato Pie. It is really good. I am always slightly amazed when my dishes turn out good.

Rebecca Have you been to the Oak Harbor Senior Center to see about their classes and activities?3

Skippity-Do-Dah - Have not read the past 10 pages - but as for Facebook; I deleted 2 accounts; then found a way to get back in under a different method; so if I get tired of it, I will deactivate it … easy to do and not permanent. Between my middle sister and oldest son's wife - I get way more politics and drama. Thankfully, as of this moment Jenn has not asked me to be her friend; although son got an earful as to why I unfriended her (short story, she unfriended me first because my oldest sister reamed her a 'new' one because of her settings, very loose; like her mouth. Louis is just amazed at the 'personal information' about others that she seems to know and wants to know if people put their business out on it or if she just asks. I don't know; but, I have a total of 79 friends, most just close family members and former HS classmates and a few from here. I'll get to a point of just reading and not commenting other than a 'like' or something like that. One day, I got 15 posts one right after another from sister, who is one who cannot 'just let it go and realize that her politician did not win'. Get a life; get over it, let Trump 'try' to do his job and don't worry - worrying never added a day to our lives and it just messes up the present. Youngest son won't have an account; and isn't very happy that Tami has one. But, the charter school where Mallory attends uses FB in order to announce things, so she does keep it. But, she told her clients to STOP texting/posting for appointments because she might not even see them if she is out at the lake house (they don't get good reception out there so she just turns it off). That created problems between both DDsnL. I just don't even get into it … it can be so petty. But, when Will is 'finished' with someone … there is 'no going back for him'. So the fact that he just does not care for 'her' means that they will probably 'never' come back to Georgia to visit. He still has a good relationship with his brother, except when Will calls his Dad on his cellphone and because Louis is hard of hearing he has it turned way up and Trey can hear Will's comments. Example: Will does not think that Louis ought to be cutting the grass. Or that Trey needs to 'find a job' other than working for his Dad, especially since he has NO desire to take over the business because of finding 'help'.
I'm doing my best to take a positive outlook on life and not getting into the petty gossip or trying to change anyone.
Well, I usually do try to keep up reading MFP; but, even then, I get overwhelmed and just don't do it. At the moment, I haven't been tracking my food; but, I don't think it has made much difference. I meant to weigh myself when I went to GNC and pay the extra dollar for the extra information such as % of water, fat, muscle, and BMI, and forgot to do it. Trey was in a hot, big hurry.

Becca: Your singing is a gift. I'll bet there is a choir somewhere nearby that needs your voice and has people who might become your friends if you join. Church choirs are also great place to meet other singers. So are community choirs. Friends of ours were active in a community choir for many years. Good luck with your surgery. :flowerforyou:
Sue: Congratulations on the wedding of your DS. I hope it all works out very well. :flowerforyou: Bandit is gorgeous and smart. He knows who is responsible for the good things in his life.
cbessell67: Welcome! There are many motivated friends in this group. You can join us by clicking on the blank star at the top of the page. It will turn yellow. Then you can find us again by clicking on the yellow star.
The replacement lens is installed in my glasses frame and I brought the original one home with me. It is placed carefully in a labeled glasses case so I can find it if I end up wanting to change back. Right now, I'm feeling comfortable with the new one. We'll give it time and see how I feel about it in a few days.

A quick hello and some updates on what has been distracting me from this thread:
(1) DH had both cataracts removed one week apart. The schedule for medicinal eye drops is making us both crazy. Now, he's going through that awkward period where his prescription glasses don't work for him, and I have to explain over and over that this is normal and eventually we'll get him new glasses.
(2) My DB is visiting from California. It's been a long time since we spent any quality time together, so I am relishing having his company and being a doting big sis. He has adopted intermittent fasting, much to my surprise. He walks every morning and has been to the pool twice since arriving on Tuesday. He doesn't look well, however, and I'm really concerned about his weight and some other liver-related issues.
(3) The mantle-makeover project makes a mess of the living room every Saturday. Stupid drywall dust gets everywhere and every scratch in the floor is magnified once the dust settles into them. I'll be glad when my handyman gets past this stage. Ugh.
(4) Then, our only car required a repair, which my regular mechanic could not diagnose. Fortunately, the day before on Nextdoor.com there was a discussion about best places to take Subarus, so I found my new mechanic pretty easily, and it's all taken care of. Nothing major, thank god.
Tomorrow, I'll take DB and DH down to Colorado Springs to see some sights. The days have been clear, warm and dry. Glorious. Next week, we'll head to the western slope of Colorado for 3 nights and even more touring through some beautiful national parks, mountain towns, forests and hot springs. Can hardly wait.
Sending energy and healing thoughts to everyone who needs it. Stay well. Think healthy. We can do this.

Went to the water aerobics class. The plan for tomorrow is to do Michelle Doizois’s Cardio Strength Fat Blaster DVD
M – I double everything KJ said about you. Congrats on completing your program! So proud of you
Sun just came out so I think I’ll go in the pool. Cut the grass and weedwacked
Sherndon – welcome to the group! MFP and the “m” group. For years I’ve been at the same weight, up maybe a pound or two, down a pound or two, but always in the same ballpark (at least it isn’t going way up). Just recently now that M has struck, I find that no matter what I do, there is this flab. Someone recommended that I restrict my carbs, which is real hard since I absolutely love my fruits and veggies. Cookies, cakes etc. don’t really call my name. But a sweet, fresh peach – look out!
Rebecca – good luck to you. I’ll be thinking of you Tuesday. I love purple potatoes as much as I love sweet potatoes.
Kelly – kiss Joaquin for me
Lenora – always good to hear from you
Cbessell – welcome!
Rori – boy, things have really been hopping for you. Thanks so much for checking in.

Rori: Your travel plans to Colorado destinations sound lovely. Our son was stationed at Colorado Springs for a while and we love the area. I suspect you'll have a good time. The western slope is uncharted territory for us. I hope you'll take pictures and tell stories when you get home. :flowerforyou:
We are contemplating a new adventure in our RV. It is in the shop for work we want done at the moment, but won't be there for long. We're looking at old favorite places close enough to home to make them easy destinations and 2 or 3 day stays rather than a week.

Machka "Tired this month" small wonder! Hope the weekend is restful and restorative. Ditto what Karen in VA said.
Margaret and Carol, thanks for the Kombucha info. Have a friend who makes it and it is yummy. Then she showed us the "mother". Yuck. Doubt I could trust myself to be careful enough to avoid contamination or over fermenting so won't be making it at home. At this point it's too spendy for me to incorporate daily, but if conditions change/warrant I'll reconsider. Someone mentioned ginger or turmeric kombucha, now THAT I'd try, if I could find it!
KJ so looking forward to new Joaquin pics
Katla lens "color might not match" original? Pfaugh!
Rebecca "shelf" mystery circular stains... hmm. . . Alien saucer landings? What DebCountsAll, Katla and Barbie said, taking a class in an activity that interests you is the best way to meet folk with similar interests... and you can choose your level of involvement! Keeping good thoughts for Thursday.
Sue in Wa Beautiful pic, lucky Bandit!
Lenora "not getting into the petty gossip or trying to change anyone." Wise words, gal friend.
Rori so glad your car got fixed in time for your western slope trip, which sounds delightful. Thank Goodness for Nextdoor.com, keeps us apprised of the critter sightings, this week it's a bear and her two cubs up a few ridges and a pea hen eatin' cougar within a half mile [shudder]. Joe's hooked up an extra flood light down on the driveway we can switch on and off from the house. He's been great about coming up with critter deterrent ideas AND implementing them.
Welcome sherndon, cbessel. Let us know what you'd like to be called and a general location so we can keep you straight.
Fell asleep during massage today, so glad therapist is immune to my snoring! Up at oh dark thirty tomorrow to car pool with new T'ai Chi buddy to dog show in Bandon. Looking forward to getting to know her better.
Slacking on knee exercises has taken its toll. Time to get down on the floor NOW.
Sleep sweet, lovelies!

Good morning!
Got out for my run by 6.15. It rained a lot yesterday, thank goodness, but today will be bright and warm for the renewal of vows ceremony.
I listened to Who Knows Where the Time Goes on my podcast and then went back to my old running play list, which I haven't listened to for weeks!
I'm nervous about my speech and poem reading, but I know it will be fine. Going to wear my long Mexican dress that I wore on the cruise, with my red, tasselled earrings. The dress code is "summer". There is a disco in the evening. Hope Max and Edie and my son make it over.
Love Heather UK xxxxxxx5 -
Heather I know you have butterflies in your stomach! But you'll be brilliant! Have a wonderful time...
