To quote @PastorVincent The sun tried to kill me today. It was 93 degrees and my five miles took everything I had. My pace was 16 something and that makes me so sad! I know it was because my schedule was off and it was so hot, but dang. I can do under 14 some days.

I had to read that comment more than once cause I just had a mental block about that location and that activity. I must be getting old.
But, I mean, they did not at least lock the door?
If they wanted shelter from the rain (which I think was over at that point anyway), there was a rest area with dry seats and a roof, right next to the potty. And if they needed a private location, an entire half of the reservoir is surrounded by thick forest area.

I have only ever heard LSD used for Lysergic acid diethylamide... which decidedly is not a running thing
Long Slow Distance is what I assume you mean... I am not hip on all the terms we use, but I always just said "long run" - mayhap most of the rest of the thread uses LSD and I am the only not hip one. *shrugs* Would not be the first time, nor the last.2 -

Actually, it has provided me with a great deal of entertainment... it makes for a great story....lol... With the work that I do, I deal with so much off-the-wall, stupid, gross, disturbing human behavior that your encounter seems mild and funny to me. I am so desensitized I cannot remember the last time I heard something that shocked me.

LSD was a new one for me, too. I was thinking "That @noblsheep is a pretty crazy runner, tripping out like that while she runs. If I tried that they would find me sitting along the trail talking to ferns."3

To date, I do not think this thread had a TMI limit. This definitely would not be over it though. I mean it is gross, but it is not like you got your camera out, recorded it, and posted a timeline of events, reactions, and sounds. (please don't btw... )3 -

So I was tagged in this twitter post this morning. I guess the AHSAA (aka Alabama high school athletic association) is having their conference this week and this company did elevator door wraps at the conference site. Look who got herself on a door, my sweet girl. ha ha A week or so ago Bethanny Frankel (from Real Housewives of NY and Skinny Girl fame) posted a picture of her on her instagram account and now this. ha ha

Another hot and humid morning run. Looking at the results from our local 8K race on Saturday night and the guy who won it had an average pace of 4:35! First mile was at 4:22. Amazing! He was from Tanzania (Geay). He ran it neck and neck with a guy from Ethiopia (Mekonen) until he pulled away in the last quarter mile. No world record set this year. They are changing the course slightly so maybe next year they will be able to bring it back.

Yay Skippy! The overall female winner at our local 8k race Saturday night is a freshman at one of the local high schools. She ran it in 30:45 (6:12 average pace).3 -

I'm joining half through the month and it's my first challenge...I'm going to shoot for 25 miles by end of month. Big goal, eventually run a marathon (so far only 5k but they've been easy). Need to find 5k and 10k races before next summer, then try a half marathon. Or does anyone else have tips on working up to that? BTW did a virtual 10k on the treadmill but not irl. Tips/advice would be appreciated!9

Welcome! Since you have already ran the 5K distance, you are probably beyond the Couch to 5K program. Check out some of Hal Higdon training plans. He has several distances with both beginner and advanced levels.3 -

@RunnerGrl1982 Welcome! There are runners of all levels in these threads. Some that are hoping to run a whole mile someday, and nutcases like me that have run 30-mile races, and even nuttier ppl than me that do 100-mile races. Some of us run 14 min miles, some run 6 min miles. BUT we all support and help each other best we can. It is a good group, IMO.

Pretty bummed about the fact that 15 miles into my 50 mile month I've had to stop running. I am having pretty bad IT band pain and knee pain too. I'm going to keep up with exercise on the elliptical and I'm doing some exercises to strengthen my core and legs and back...but man, I'm bummed. I hope to join back up in August.11

Temperature was feels like 77 F at start, 95% Humidity, Dew Point 75.
Yesterday someone was running in my neighborhood at 2 pm with a feels like temperature of 106 F.
4.40 miles of Embracing the Suck this morning! Foot did not cooperate and hurt the whole time. Painful run/walk with slow time. Apparently a lot of cars driving by knew me because I had two shouts of way to go and I couple of horns being honked. Maybe they were just being encouraging.
Trying to figure out the rest of the running schedule for the week leading up to the 5K trail race on Saturday. Tomorrow is suppose to be a Speed Workout Day but not sure if I can do that if the foot is not cooperating. I would like to be halfway to my mileage goal, but short a little bit. Feel like I can till make up mileage before end of month.
I actually slept for 10 hours last night, something I rarely if ever do. I was asleep at 6 pm and slept until about 4:30 am slightly before alarm clock starts buzzing to wake me up.

@RunsOnEspresso @amymoreorless and @rheddmobile - RunsOnEspresso definitely has the highest temperature. I thought we were bad with Louisiana heat and humidity.

Today was a scheduled rest day after lifting but since I am going on vacation Tues (well, housesitting for a lady with a palatial home and pool!) still out with blister recovery, gonna try picking up a short distance tomorrow and see how foot reacts. Was able to do upper body circuit this morning and a slow walk on the treadmill(not counting it as was 2 mph for 15 minutes). Have an awesome day everyone!

It was yuck outside this morning after I dropped the kids at camp, so I wound up at the gym on the treadmill. I ran 2.5 and walked 1 mile. It was boring. I did bring my ancient ipod with me and listened to songs I forgot I even owned...that was amusing. But not amusing enough. I'm going to have to just suck it up and run in the heat because that was terrible.
