Thank you! I believe that September is the new January also. Lol kids get back on their schedule and so do I.2

Our big adventure this morning was a trip to the drug store for our yearly "flu shot date". We also got our names on the really long waiting list for the new shingles vaccine.
Pip and Kirby, congrats on your ride so far. Lunch at Deception Pass sounds awesome.3 -
Love the night time eating ideas. I am going to have a larger meal with protein for lunch and then try a lighter dinner. The idea of 13 hour fast 7pm to 8 am is something I’m willing to try. My teaching day starts very early and woah to my poor students if I’m hangry

Barbie - I had the new shingles vaccine, as well as the follow-on and final shot (which has to be done in six months). The first one took my left arm out of commission for almost a day, and the bruise lasted for nearly two months--but the second one barely left the arm sore. Worth it, if it keeps me from getting shingles. Awful stuff.

I had the first shingles shot (of the two shot series) a couple of weeks ago. My poor arm hurt for 2 days. They told me the second one needs given between 60 days and 6 months later. Lisa, I’m glad to hear the second one doesn’t hurt as bad. Hubs is on the waiting list. They’ve run out here again.

I live in a small community about which it is said that "it is where old people go to visit their parents". The over 65 population is huge considering how small the town is so our share of the vaccine has run out faster than it might elsewhere. I'll be glad to get it no matter what the side effects. I had the older version when it first came out but my doctor said that the new one is much more effective.2

The ride used to b called around the sound, then they just called it the MS 150 then it’s now the Deception Pass Classic
That’s only on the back of his shirt, not mine8 -
Pip - Did you have to ride in the rain? It rained here but not a lot. Glad you are having a good time.
I think they are running out of the shingles vaccine everywhere. I got the first one last week but when I asked about it at the clinic they told me they would have to check to see if they had any. My arm was sore for a couple of days and I was really achy but don't want to have shingles again. I got the old shot and then had shingles twice. My doc said the old shot was not meant to prevent shingles only the post herpetic nerve pain that could follow. This new one is actually meant to prevent shingles. We shall see. I need to get the booster sometime after Halloween.
I made a lower cal version of apple crisp today using apples from our tree. I think the arborist was right, they do seem sweeter since we used compost on the tree this spring.
I am having a quiet day today by myself. Dson took his dad to the Huskies game. They are playing North Dakota I think. DD should be home from her trip tomorrow. I will be glad to have her back. The horses took a gate that goes from the shelter into the barn off its hinges, got it wedged in the opening and then walked over it bending the wire and the frame. They scattered a bale of straw and some bedding around and broke part of the door frame going out to the paddock but luckily could not get into the tack room or the feed area. We just had 40 bales of new hay delivered yesterday so that could have been a real mess. DD's old buckskin mare has a few scrapes on her but didn't see anything on the other two.
KJ - It is so nice you can be so creative about the things that you do at your day care.
Heather - Edie looks more than ready for the challenge of school.
Rita - Lovely scenery. Glad you are enjoying the hosting.
Everyone take care, Sue in WA4 -
Yes Skype will be our lifesaver! I haven't seen that kid since last Christmas, so its going to be tough not seeing him this Christmas😢😢! But I have to get it thru my head and heart, that the Navy has him now. The job he is doing is bigger than just himself💗.

We made a darn good team and sent ice cream home.with alot of them.....we gotta Hardy applause for our efforts lol...going tomorrow to do some cleaning at my dad's house so the real estate lady can take pictures.....my son wants to come down to my place to do laundry and watch the football game ..and I said yes....I don't ever get to see him...3

Hi friends. Wow! So many cool pictures! I have enjoyed looking at them and reading all your posts. Don't have much to say today except I am really going to try to get on here, at least on one place, every day. Football team lost, but at least they played hard til the end, which hasn't been true with our last coach. It's beautiful here and I am cooking up some cauliflower soup. We'll see how it is. Have a good evening! Meg from fall-ish Omaha.4

Love Heather UK xxxxxxx
I work weekends and evenings. I have cut back on my hours, working about 1/2 time, so average 3 shifts per week.
Adorable Edie.
Kelly The great thing was my grandson's ability to appreciate the dark humor when he looked up the word "despondent" and discovered what it meant. He said, "Oh my gosh, this is the most depressing word of all, Grammy. I mean, look at what it means!" Then we laughed uproariously about the fact that the word he didn't know was in the same genre as the ones he deliberately picked out. It was cathartic for him, and considerably brightened his mood for the rest of the day.
Yeah, so here is the problem. My son loves my grandson ridiculously. He absolutely is not deliberately being a bully to him. But he is, in fact, being a bully. Frequently. And it is hurting my grandson. A lot. So my son's feelings are just going to have to be hurt for the sake of my grandson. My partner and I had my ex-husband (my son's father) over for salmon and asparagus tonight and talked about it. We are all on the same page. My ex is a lot more worried about hurting my son than I am. I told my ex, "Look, his feelings ARE going to be hurt. He is doing something very wrong, and he is striving to be a perfect parent, so it is going to be a huge blow when he finally acknowledges that he is bullying our grandson." My ex looked stricken & teared up a little. He is such a good man.
Despite everything, I think this may be the best "first week of school" my grandson has ever had. He finished all of his work. He got all A's on quizzes and assignments. He has worked one day ahead in 2 subjects. And he is all organized for Monday. No "homework" over the weekend. That's one of the best things about this. It's so efficient that all the work gets done during the school-day. It is a free online public school. There are similar programs in lots of other parts of the country. Because it is part of the public school system, it is free, and the "intent to homeschool" forms do not have to be filed. His teachers come from all over Virginia and North Carolina.

I was less than 97 pounds until I quit waitressing in 1998. The weight started raising, then reached its max of 155 in 2003 after quitting smoking. I haven't been that high since 2009 at 139. Thank you for a compliment. I appreciate it.

Did Kathy Smith’s Build Muscle Shrink Fat DVD. Boy, was it hard getting back in the groove of exercising after spending every day walking on the beach! The plan for tomorrow is to do a Leslie Sansone walking DVD.
Rebecca – congrats to you and your son
Weighed myself. According to the Wii, since before we left I only gained 1 lb. But since my last official weigh-in I gained 4 lbs. Not too bad for the vacation.
NYKaren – night time eater here!
Carol – even with all the problems on the trip, it was still lovely. I’d go back in a heartbeat, but I know that it’s VERY expensive. The graduation will be in Miami in a few years. Evidently, they only have a graduation once/year for all the people in each of the semesters. So you might wind up finishing 6 months before the actual graduation.
Lanette – Jess will be in school in St. Kitts for 2 years, then she comes to the states to do her Clinical. I think she’s hoping to do it at NC State, but who knows where she’ll wind up?
Have a chocolate zucchini loaf in the oven for Vince right now. Shhhh…don’t tell him there’s zucchini in it or he won’t eat it. I’ll just tell him it’s a chocolate loaf. Actually, I put some of the mini chocolate chips in it so if a bit of the zucchini isn’t pulverized from the food processor, I can just tell him that what’s hard is probably a chocolate chip.
Rye – it probably won’t be for another month or so before we close the pool. We usually have to (much to my dismay) in mid-October. Nice weather would be good……
You go pip!!!!
Barbie – we got the new chickenpox vaccine right before we left. If we got it now before Vince turned 65, insurance would pay for it 100%. Had we waited, medicare wouldn’t have paid 100%. Therefore, we got it now. We should be getting the second shot in a few weeks. There has been a shortage all over the country. This is what we were told when we called to get the vaccine. We got the last two doses in this county

At the beer garden, they had a jersey fashion show. Out of all those people, kirby got 3rd place!!! I was so happy for him !!!12 -
Nice day today! It was our 34th anniversary, so we watched Navy football! They played Memphis and won 22 to 21! Crazy close!
I made chicken fried cube steak, spaghetti and bread sticks! Husband was belly happy! I did a great job and crammed as much love into the meal as I could! Haahaa!
Was able to chat with middle son. Feeling loved today.👍.💗⚓🌹

Rita ... beautiful rainbow photographs!
Barbie ... knitting while lying down? Amazing!! Hope the rest helps.
Heather... Edie is ready!
KarenVA ... your grandson is so very fortunate to have you in his corner. I think the two of you are going to do quite well this school year.
I didn't set my goals yet for the month!! I had hoped to lose weight in August and I did ... 8 pounds. So this month's goal is to maintain that loss and try to lose 4 more.
My son is doing very well. Saw both his primary and his surgeon this week. Surgeon was very pleased with his healing and concurred that he had dodged a very large bullet. We are so very thankful! We had the opportunity later this week to see his temporary housing accommodations while his place is being renovated. It will do. My husband and I spent today looking for an inexpensive chest of drawers. Took a few hours but found one on FaceBook's marketplace. Hadn't used that site before. I think we overpaid the seller, but my husband doesn't like to negotiate and I just kept quiet.
Had a wisdom tooth pulled yesterday. It was due to come out earlier in the year but circumstances had me putting it off. Then when my son was in the hospital, it started to throb. So Tuesday I called and yesterday an oral surgeon took care of it. Was a tough one I guess .. I was in a sweat and so was he!! Not doing too bad, but I can tell tomorrow is going to be a little more difficult.
Trying to get caught up with things, but it will take a while. One bite at a time ...

I think after the Georgia Tech game today; they might be 'buying' the coach out of a contract. Nephew and his son thinks they should not have renewed his contract for 5 years. Georgia game really good; watched the 3 quarters, then listened to the 4th on our way home. Had to laugh that we had 'words' when trying to follow sister's directions to her house; I had gone that way once with her; and, Louis had his @$$ where it did not need to be; but, we got there. Trey asked what kind of directions we had gotten; because they always went back down Hwy 19; that is how we came home, following them, they made a turn and realized that their WAZE had dropped service during a pass though an area of trees. When Jenn turned around, and stopped next to us; I laughed and told her 'I guess her GPS wasn't working any better than mine was.
Rebecca - Losing a son to the Navy is about like accepting you lose them to a wife when they get married. But, now I don't worry about either of them. The sons still get along pretty good; but, DDnL#1 is so jealous of DDnL#2 it is unreal. I just have to 'ignore' her. One is just 'too far away' and the other is just 'too close at times'. But, I did announce that I had 'deleted' my FB account; and, cannot believe how less stressed I am. I'll miss the pictures; just not the 'drama'.
I need to get back to my tracking my food and liquids. I don't 'think' my weight has changed too much; but, I refuse to step on the scales we have at home. I'd rather take my shoes off and, put my purse between the scale and whatever is next to it at Publix. I could go to GNC and get a breakdown of my BMI, etc. At least it is pretty accurate or close to what I have weighed the last time I went for a weigh in. I'm the tallest in a family of 3 girls. Oldest sister very thin through her torso; but, I think she is the thinnest. Middle sister is shorter than I am; so it is difficult to measure size; I told them that I 'must' be adopted just like they told me growing up. I don't think I look like either one of them now. Sister spent a few days in the hospital last weekend with her blood pressure sky high - kept her to get it down.
I'm just mostly reading every few days or scrolling if the list is too long.
Take care! Stay safe! Enjoying keeping up with you. Still working on my moods; and, having to get used to the fact that Louis, Trey, nor Will want me to drive anymore. Been 9 months; so it can't be that bad. Told Trey the last time he took me to 2 MDs appointments that 'if' the did not 'stop bitching' I was going to get a hat and sit in the back seat so they would really be "Driving Miss Daisy"; then shut him up when I told him that all the tests were to rule out cancer. That shut him up. So far, the closest I've come was having Barrett's Esophagus. That being from having uncontrolled 'acid reflux' for over 12 years. Went off the Nexium and I could not believe how much better I feel! Now, I no longer take Pepcid, nor any OTC meds, no vitamins, or supplements and the only thing I have to make sure of, is that I have medications with me at all times. Got my seizure meds taken care of; now all I have to do is 'gamble' with being taken off the Dilantin and having my Lamictal upped under very careful watchh from my Neurologist. I saw his PA the last time I went. I thought I was going to see him; but, they said I'd see him once, then her. I'm going to call and get an appointment to actually talk to him and tell him that 'if' he is going to take me off it, I want to see him 'every' time I come in just to make sure I have enough seizure meds in my system.

Thank you to everyone who posted supportive comments concerning the homeschooling. So many of you face challenges on a daily basis. I appreciate the generosity of spirit and the encouragement I receive here. How lucky I am to have found this community and this thread! (Have I said thank you recently, Barbie?)6

Morning ladies~
overcast and in the 50s.. love the cooler weather... my favorite season is fall.....
going to go feed DFIL and then come home wait to see if my brother is going over to dads, and then go up for a bit my son coming to do laundry and watch football.. think I might make him dinner... he isn't much of a cook..3 -
Beth ~ Glad to hear that your son's body is healing with the new pump.
Karen VA ~ So glad that your grandson is responding well to home schooling online. I so wish I had been able to have that available when my son was growing up. He absolutely hated school and over the years I noticed that a lot of the teachers I worked with had some of the same problems with their children. Today, he rues the fact that he wasted his school years.
Lenora ~ Is Hwy 19 the same as I75? Which sister were you visiting? Was that your family reunion.
Pip ~ Rooting for you and Kirby.
Michele ~ Glad you enjoyed your visit despite the snafus. I would love to visit one of the crystal clear beaches.
Lanette ~ Your deck sounds very nice.

Quitting waitressing did me in too, I got up to 160 then when I quit smoking it went up even further. You are very fortunate to have stopped it in its tracks at 155. Good for you!
