Hey all,
I know I said I would write to everyone personally and I will soon, just extremely busy with last minute things before I take my flight on Monday morning to the US.
Thank god for my parents who have come to stay with us and the kids as this trip is “sans” kids.
Went shopping and had a great time, for into the infamous S size, somehow I was picking clothes which were too big for me and then remembered that I need a smaller size, so bizzare, but in a good way
So this may be my last post for the next 2 weeks, if I get wifi in the US then will definitely check in.
I promise to eat small portions and try and clean and not go bonkers on beer. As theslightedgeforever says this weight loss is for my life and not for this trip alone
Giving myself a 2 kg concession, I plan not to put on more than 2 kgs on this trip..
Just one question, how is the weather in California and Nevada, do I need to pack warm clothing. NY will be cold I guess.
Bye guys, please take care of injuries and eating habits
Love you all, will post when I can0 -
Hello all,
I got on the scale and said oh my, I have to get back to control. This has been a long week and I chose Ice cream to comfort myself...NOT...I just ate an apple and PB and was surprised at how much 2 T was..I don't usually measure that because, I know when I eat it, I am usually going in the wrong direction..but today I did...
@trooworld day 4 headache...I usually use my oils, but I have to be careful around the baby with my headache oils...so going without...
@krupalip I say just enjoy your vacation...how many times do you get to go on a vacation to another country and without kids...LOL
@TeresaW1020 Yes, we have homeschoolers in our church on Tuesdays....madhouse I say, madhouse.. Luckily the office is in another suite down so I can stay away from the noise..LOL I am glad you spoke up..sometimes we just keep doing and we should say wait...let me really look at this from all sides.
I learned a new acronym today..
Ask yourself this and then do the opposite..
Are you?
Hungry- then feed what ever is hungry...physical, spiritual, mental?
Angry - opposite of that is affection...don't pull away, embrace
Lonely - community, be with people, whether it is church? friends? like hobbies?
Tired - get some real sleep...

Trooworld I’m glad your head feels better too. As far as temps Northern California sounds like the place to be. I was just telling my sister last night I’ve never been to California. I want to go drive by the Pacific Ocean.
Cbabie. Was the PB measuring a good surprise or a bad surprise. You just reminded me that I didn’t log my PB toast. Now I think I’m over calories 😩. If the oils aren’t good for a baby are they good for you?0 -
Krupalip. We all need a kick in the butt sometime. My family calls it nagging. I am also trying to learn about different perspectives. Testing and analyzing why do we do the things we do. I’m still trying to figure out mine. I have had one vacation without kids (mine are grown. They revert to little kids when on vacation). It’s pure bliss. Enjoy it immensely
Teresaw1020. The kids noise would bother me too. The older I get the worse I get. Tic Tac addiction. I think I have an icebreakers addiction

@theslightedgeforever in regards to the oils....yes they are good for me, better than chemicals....its the peppermint...its too hot of an oil for baby when they are little...you can dilute oils ..but I need the full effect...lol0

Cbabie. Thanks for the information about the oils0

Happy Sunday!
@cbabie, I'm sorry you are suffering from headaches. Are they migraines? I have never heard of using oils. When I get a headache I just pop 2 or 3 Ibruphren. My husband buys me the industrial size from Sams because I think Ibruphren is the cure for all things that ail me.As for peanut butter that had to leave my house. 2 TBS isn't very much!! I'm a Jiff girl so I now buy my dog Skippy and I've just told myself that it's nasty and won't even taste it.
@trooworld, I'm sorry you are also suffering from headaches too!I hope you have a great time camping! I went camping once and pretty much thought it was the worst thing that ever happened to me. I prefer my nature from a window or on the TV!
So, today I've decided to do something radical. I'm going to meal prep my lunches for next week. I'm going to cook up some chicken breast, roast a bunch of veggies and mix it all with some riced cauliflower. I'll spice it all up with some yummy Mexican flavorings. My normal workday lunch is 8 points so I'm hoping this will help me manage my points better and allow more for dinner. I'm really want to kick up my weight loss!! I've been on WW for 89 weeks and have lost 42.5 lbs. That is less than .5 lb a week! Now, don't get me wrong. I am super happy that I've lost that much and I have no intention of stopping until I lose the rest, but I know that I can be doing much better. If only I didn't love food sooooo much!!!OK, I'm off to workout and prep my food! Have a good day, girls!

Trooworld not measuring PB is dangerous if you eat it a lot. I did an experiment that said take a spoon and get 2T of PB out of the jar. Then actually measure it so you can see how close you were at estimating. I had 1.5 on my spoon. I knew for it to be one T it had to be exactly flat. Nobody eats a flat spoon of PB. Putting it in the microwave makes a little spread further. I never use a knife cause I can’t measure that way. I have PB every weekend with my pancakes though. Plus maybe once on toast throughout the week. Camping sounds fun. Enjoy the time outdoors
TeresaW1020. What an awesome weight loss. It’s good that you have analyzed where u are and made a plan. Prepping lunches sounds like a good plan. Anytime we can shave off a point here and there it helps.0 -
@trooworld, glamping does sound a little better but I would still prefer at least a cabin with all the amenities and lots of bug repellent.
No, I haven't been prepping my lunches. I usually take a Quest bar, Greek yogurt, 1/2 oz. of almonds, some fruit and waters. I'm not going to lie and say that I liked prepping yesterday because I didn't. I might have been too ambitious with all the veggies I roasted and need to cut it down to 2 or 3. But I was happy that my big bowl was only 2 points due to the sweet potatoes I used. I'll see if I can keep it up!
I hate to be a big whiny baby but my knee is acting up again!! It started yesterday when got on the treadmill and couldn't even last a few minutes before the pain was so severe I knew I better get off. I'm back on Ibuprofen and ice. My husband just went and bought me some super strength Blue Emu because he had read that it could help. I'm just so annoyed at my body right now!!
So, have you all heard the news about Weight Watchers and that they have changed the name to WW (Wellness Works)? My FB groups have been blowing up about it all day today! So many people get all bent out of shape whenever WW does one little thing differently. I think it's a good change because they are going to focus more on healthier lifestyles and not just the number on the scale. They are getting rid of all their artificial and highly processed products and in a couple of weeks, they will be doing some kind of reward program. I'm excited to see what's it's all about. How about you all?

Trooworld. Glamping. Lol. The last time I camped was with cub scouts and Girl Scouts. Many moons ago. Froze my patootie off at night. I’m more the use a coat hanger to roast a hot dog type. Although now I’m sure my biologist son would say something about that. He was aghast that I left the paper tabs on the teabags when boiling my tea. The ink and staple will do something to my body. 🙄. He also doesn’t believe in the 3 second rule. Lol. Enjoy your time with nature. That can be more fun than with hubby. I was ready to send mine into nature today.
TeresaW1020. I saw that WW change. It’s a good idea in theory. Some aren’t happy about having their favorite WW snacks taken away. My mom used to use Blue Emu. It worked for her. You’ll figure out your food prep. It just takes a little tweaking here and there.0 -
Hello everyone!
@theslightedgeforever, I bought 8 boxes of snacks today at WW! Just couldn't pass up that good of a price.
@trooworld, I really do hope you have a great time! We will miss the silence but I will try to fill in for you.I'm going to keep up the meal prepping for my lunches. I love to cook dinner so I will also work on making more to use for lunch as well.
Weighed in today and lost 0.8 lbs. Wish it had been more but at least it was a loss!So I was on FB and saw this hysterical post about Weight Watcher rules in the 1970's. I grew up eating liver once a week because my mom was on WW. Give it a read and enjoy!
dwlz.com/WWinfo/old1972ww.html0 -
Trooworld. Enjoy your camping trip. Take a lot of walks out in nature. I thought WW also changed their name to WW. Wellness Works. They won’t be putting the words Weight Watchers on any of their products or books etc. just the logo. At least the plan didn’t change again.
Teresaw1020. A loss is a loss. You are working on a new plan to increase that loss right? I love liver. It just has to be prepared correctly. I eat it a couple times a month. I dice it into little thin slivers. First I sauté some onions green peppers and tomatoes. Add a little garlic and then add the liver and some taco seasoning. I like to eat it with pita bread. My mom was on WAw back in the 70s too. I used to hate liver cause she didn’t know how to make it. Although she didn’t know how to make much 😉0 -
Here’s a pic of my liver Well not MY liver 😂

Trooworld. Happy Birthday and enjoy your camping trip.
Where is the rest of our group?0 -
Morning.....fighting computers and they are winning...lol
I haven’t stuck tompkan, but someone on this board triggered the fight back in me...I haven’t lost, just maintained. Saturday is WI for me so we will we. I think I might like WW new thought process...it really is all about health not weight.
@theslightedgeforever yo are right mom was not a cook....glad we did not get that part of her...lol
@trooworld happy birthday and I hope you get so relaxed and refreshed.....you deserve it.
@TeresaW1020 Your post about the sweet potatoes totally encouraged me...I love sweet potatoes!!!!
Okay I know I have missed replies to some, sorry working off my iPad...and I miss my computer....I will catch up on personals when ever my computer decides to work with me and not against me...

Morning everyone
I hope everyone is well and going amazingly on their journey. I have not back read, so will start to catch up from today.
Sorry I have been MIA. @theslightedgeforever - thanks for checking in. The short story of my absence is the stuff that was happening in my home has finally happened. My husband was "retired", hence reduced income. We needed get over the shock, rationalise and reduce. This was a fairly hefty bump in our lives, and one we did not expect going into the new year.
The positives are is that I am a full time home husband, I come home to a cooked meal every night. He does the laundry etc, runs the teenager around and all in all takes a lot of pressure from me. I am using my spare time for me. I now come home and relax for 10 min before getting up and doing my thing. I no longer have to think twice, if I can do something for myself as I know that DH will be available.
BIG NEWS - NO 1.After 10 years absence - I have rejoined WW on Wednesday (woohoo).
BIG NEWS No 2. I made a decision on my birthday last week that alcohol and I wll no longer friends and never will be friends again. I watched my mum's behaviour at my husband's 60th and thought - nope that is never going to be me, I t was enough that I spent the next day apologising to the guests. I thought about her behaviour and the fact that I have other alcoholics in the family for the next fortnight (one of those weeks I was interstate with work - so I could do alot of thinking) and decide to DIVORCE alcohol effective the next day which just happen to coincide with my birthday.
I am hoping that I get some guidance here as it has been a long 10 years away from WW. I struggle that there are a lot of "free foods" and because of that I am not hitting my daily goal (well I know it has only been 2 days)
Thanks for still being there for me
Chat soon

Hey guys, managed to get WiFi and log on...so good to read everyone’s post
Right now I am on my way to LA, had a great time in Vegas and at the Grand Canyon
Looking forward to LA now
@trooworld happy birthday and have fun on your camping trip
@cbabie yes enjoying myself with hubby like it’s our second honeymoon, although missing the kids, we video chat with them everyday
@theslightedgeforever how are you, after being in the US for the past couple of days, I just keep wondering to myself about people not taking care of their health.
@TeresaW1020 congratulations on the weight loss, please visit the doctor about your knee, hope it’s not a serious issue
Bye guys will try and log on soon

Hi Girls!
@cbabie, glad you haven't given up yet. I also think the new WW is a good idea. If we don't change our way of thinking about our relationship with food we will continue to stay on the same old roller coaster and frankly I'm too old for roller coasters!
@TrishasTime, welcome back!! You sure have had some big life changes. I also have a retired husband who pretty much does everything around the house. I don't let him cook dinner though because I like to eat edible food, but he does do the dishes.
Congrats on rejoining WW. I really do love the plan but totally agree that the "free" foods can be hard to manage. The biggest thing to remember is that all zero point foods have calories. WW doesn't like for us to talk too much about calories but facts are facts. I joined MFP in July to double track and was amazed to find out that I could have a 500 calorie difference using the same 23 points. So, I will continue to double track for the time being. It's a pain but I try to just do it first thing in the morning and adjust in the evening.
Good for you for recognizing your need to give up alcohol. What a great birthday present to yourself!! I also come from a family who has alcohol and substance abuse. It took my dad's life and I'm afraid it will probably take my sister's life someday too. I now rarely have anything to drink and truly don't miss it at all. Plus, who wants to count those points!!
@krupalip, Hey girl!! You sound like you're having a great time in the U.S. I look forward to hearing all about it!!
Well, today was a good day but it almost wasn't. This morning I went into one of our church buildings and there were boxes of cookies that had been left over from a youth event. Without even giving it a thought I grabbed several of the cookies with every intention of eating them at my desk. WHAT!!!As I walked to my car to drive over to my office I heard that little voice inside me say, "What the heck do you think you are doing?" I sat there looking at the cookies in my hand wrapped in a paper towel and stopped my car and walked to the trash bins and threw those cookies away! Super proud that I managed to get a grip on myself before I ended up with guilt and regret.

Morning everyone
@TeresaW2010 - Well done on not eating the cookiesIt seems the habit saying no is becoming stronger than the habit of picking up the cookie. High five for the weight loss and what a terrific milestone
@cbabie - You only fail if you stop trying - Like Teresa, I think that changing our just our eating is only part of the story. That is why we keep restarting. I am excited to learn the other bits as the first part was only delivered this week in Aus.
@trooworld - Sorry you are feeling down and that you are in pain. In ancient history when I used to do the "body" classes, Body pump hurt my wrist etc. The Dr said too much weight, too often, too soon. Perhaps if you drop it to 1 class and a slightly lower weight, do walking, swimming, on the other nights. How is the dietbet going? Happy birthday for 26th - min was on the 19th, so we are only a week apart.
@theslightedgeforever - I like your nagging - it has made me take stock a couple of times. How was your weigh in this week. Well done on not eating you "blues" and reading instead
It is Saturday here, with it raining here, other than a Dr visit for a script and food shopping, it will be an inside pottering day and my leslie Sansone dvd
Take care all

Hi Girls!
@Trooworld, glad you had such a good time camping. When I was young I loved a good horror movie. My first one was Friday the 13th when I was 15. I had to sneak in and I was so terrified but I didn't dare tell my parents. Now, I can't handle the stress of being scared. Bummer about the weight being up but good for you for going to that meeting and seeing an old friend that you can walk with! You will get that weight off for sure. What are you making this week? I did my first week of meal prepping my lunches and it went OK. I will attempt it again for this week.
I've spent most of my day at the computer after I did some laundry and worked out. We just got Hulu Plus which is awesome!! Hubby has been in the living room watching football and I've been binge watching Master Chef. I have such a thing for Gordon Ramsey!!0 -
Morning everyone
@trooworld - I am so glad you had a lovely time "camping" . Camping is not for me but I am glad you enjoyed it. Horror movie marathon - 12 hours - woohoo. My first and last venture into that was "Silence of the Lambs". I still shudder when I think of it. You had a gain - that is lifeHowever today is a new day. You know what to do. It is good that you have found a WW friend. If this friend is a regular at the meeting you just went to - maybe you could go there for a while and walk before or after the meeting.
@TeresaW1210 - I had to google Hulu Plus to see what it was. I absolutely love Gordan Ramsey too. I tend to prep my lunch during the dinner the previous night. Now my husband is home, he has found my mandolin and other vege curly things and is making some wonderful salads, so I usually grab a portion of that with some protein.. He is supportive of me this time around and lists all the ingredients when he makes dinner.
I leave you with a thought that my WW leader said "there is 100 days to the end of the year - how are you going to make them work for you"
Trish1 -
Trishastime Good to hear from you. Change is hard. Especially with less money. I dread the day my DH retires as I have no work to escape to. I get nothing done on the weekends and I imagine how this will be for the rest of my life. Lol.
Good decision you made on the alcohol. Less points that go into your tracker. I think I might be one of the few who is not doing WW anymore but still counting calories. But watching everyone and reading I think the most thing about the free foods is watch your portion control on those items. Decide how many points per meal you want to spend How many do you want left over for snacks. How many weekly points will you spend? Just because they give them to you doesn’t mean you need to eat them. I know someone who has proven this. If she sticks to her 23 daily points and eats all her allowed weeklies she gains weight. Find your magic number. I lost 1 lb this week. I forgot that mandolin has another meaning. When I read about your husband finding it I thought he was seranading you in the kitchen. When I was a little girl an old man in our church played the mandolin.
krupalip good to hear from you and that you are enjoying your trip. Was it a shock to see how many fat people there are walking around the US. I think it’s the amount of food offered everywhere there. Portion sizes are much bigger than in other places in the world. You didn’t even hit the Midwest or South. I really think they are fatter in those places compared to the coasts.
TeresaW1020. Great job on the cookies. The old Teresa’s habit was to see cookies grab cookies eat cookies. Now you are forming a new habit. My daughter loves Gordon Ramsey too.
Trooworld. So glad you met a friend in WW. Someone who shares similar interests. So was the glamping trip everything you wanted. I don’t like horror movies Just hearing the music to Halloween gives me the creeps. Plus Freddy Krueger movies especially the dream one is bad. I gave birth to a daughter who loves scary movies and haunted houses. Even when she was little she would just laugh at things that jump out at her. Meanwhile her older brother was yelling Let Me Out. Then I yelled at him for leaving his younger sister in there but she came out laughing saying can I do that again. Each to his own I say. Now that I think about it she cuts into people and cuts off body parts for a living. Lol.0 -
Cbabie. Maintaining is better than gaining. So keep tracking those points and exercising
Sorry you are having computer issues. I had to learn to type on my phone when my keyboard broke on the computer. I hated it. But I’m getting faster plus the iPhone has that word suggestion feature so most of the time I only have to click on the word
What about using the microphone feature so it types out what you say then you can go back in and edit a couple of things if needed0 -
-
Morning everyone
@theslightedgeforever - Your weekly magazine is different to ours - so I get the benefit of both - thankyou
@trooworld - Sorry the horror fest was a bit of a disappointment, better to be safe then sorry when travelling though. Thankyou for the receipes - Something else to add to my packet of goodies. I just love the chocolate coated pretzels snacks - do you get them over there?
Back at work to day - but I did 20 min on treadmill. I note that the WW add double fitbit points - does anyone know how to stop that?
Hello to everyone who cruises by
Trish0 -
Trishastime. I’ll see if I can find an Aussie version on YouTube and look at it. It’s always nice to learn. Are there any other differences in the program between here and there Yaaay on the treadmill0
-
Okay guys, I am on my computer while I have internet...not looking a gift horse in the mouth. Hoping my typing skills are still fast...LOL
I have figured out that I just have to get control of my emotions... I am expecting my life to be one way and it's not for now..so I need to accept it, but not give up my prayers and my hopes and dreams.. I have eaten too much ice cream and making my self say NO, because I can't do just a little..I have even been better with JIF than I have with the ice cream..the other thing I figured out is I MISS my exercise. I loved my treadmill. I have fallen several times in the last two weeks...still can't kneel on the floor without pain..so this is caused from no strength training. I am supposed to do weight-bearing exercises for 30 min each day..for my bones....So I have to find a way to get back on a treadmill!!!
too many post for me to catch up...I am so sorry I am not on here everyday. I just get tired of fighting my computer and to the Slightedge....no I don't like my phone...I know I can talk into it..but ugh...Can't I just have one thing I like..LOL
It's great to see Trishastime back...I missed you!
Okay I have to run.. I will try to do some more personals later in the day..I have to run to church here soon...
Cbabie0 -
Morning everyone
@theslightedgeforever - I have not found the utube, buy I can certainly download the documents and link them here if you wish. They are totally different here. We have justed moved into WW which encompasses the mind, body and health. I believe there are "bonuses" if you achieve certain milestones for healthy rather than losing weight. Still more info to come
@trooworld - Jury duty - I have never have had to do as my husband was a policeman and they judge be to be biased. Hope you get dismissed early so you can do food prep. Does something trigger your arthritis/ I avoid certain things as I know they trigger mine.
@cbabie - Have you still got your old treadmill that you needed a part for? It is hard to give up our expectations and just let life happen - hugs to you
@gemwolf - I am glad you had a fab time at the wedding, yes I can definitely tell you - all these things get harder as you get older.
I am doing EOM today which involves a lot of sitting, so I have hatched a plan to set the time on my phone for every 40 min and then get up and take a walk from one end of the building to the other
Hello to everyone else
Trish1 -
Trooworld. Jury duty sounds fun. I know most people don’t think so. Self care is a good thing You’ll get your meal prep done because that’s what helps you be successful on this journey.
Cbabie. You know Mom’s philosophy when life gives you lemons...... I always hated hearing it but it taught me valuable lessons. Why do you think you are falling so much. That doesn’t sound good. Broken bones are not fun. Remember? Until you get a treadmill. Go walk outside. Like you said you have to deal with where you are right now.
Gemwolf. Loved your fall pic. I’m so glad you have a workout buddy. The wedding sounded fun. I dont know if things really get harder as we get older because of age but because of our habits, fitness levels, weight, etc. I was discussing this topic today with friends.
Trishastime. I looked yesterday too for videos and couldn’t find what I’m looking for. It’s always fun getting a sneak peak at new WW programs each year. Usually I look at WW UK Good plan for getting more steps in.0
