@7lenny7 great race report, and I nth the suggestion to get that foot looked at. Injury rehab sucks, but it sucks more if the injury gets aggravated!2

Whew! My November 3rd half is postponed until December 1st due to flooding.
Watch out Texans.
Yeah, the entire City of Austin has been on a boil water notice because the debris from flooding is impacting the water treatment facilities. They have not said when it will be fixed (not today and probably not tomorrow?). Its a great day to be a water seller. The grocery stores are completely wiped out of bottled water.2 -
@amymoreorless oh thats rough. I hadn't thought about the water quality. We've been lucky its all headed your way and flooding has been short lived here.
DH didnt get a hoverboard. *Sadness* said the box was empty and he never found anyone at Walmart to help him.. thats fine. Prob crap at Walmart anyway... Amazon can help me.3 -
OK, ok... I have an appointment tomorrow morning for my foot.
@rheddmobile what you said made me call. I can move my toes, but 'hanging toe' is exactly how I would describe it. The pain has gone down but the swelling is still there. If I walk around barefoot my toe hangs enough that I catch on the carpet from time to time, kind of like a stubbed toe.
It's worth the copay to know what I'm dealing with and if it will impact running more than a few days.
Oddly, the back of my right knee now feels a little swollen even though it never bothered me Saturday.
Everything else... Right hip, ball of my right foot, left knee and quads.. Are all doing pretty good and recovering nicely.13 -
Got the mildest of stomach bugs. W6D2 done, another 3.25km in the bag.

@7lenny7 Congratulations on your race! I'm glad you're getting your foot checked out.
I ran with a headlamp for the first time today, and it was great not being limited to routes with streetlights. "Fartlek" is in quotes below because that's really what I thought I was doing, but my pace chart afterwards kind of looks like a straight line. Whatever, it felt great! I'm back running!
Found out there's a 5k at the Botanical Gardens on Saturday, which is about a mile from my house. So of course I'm going to sign up.

This morning I spent most of my run with an impromptu mantra of "thread through the head; nips and hips" playing on repeat in my brain. I also worked on trying to think about pushing forwards from my back leg rather than pulling forwards from the leg that just landed. Sort of makes sense to me but I find it hard to actually do. I've gone from thinking my form can't be all that bad to deciding absolutely everything about it is terrible and I need to correct a million things. My brain just needs to have something to worry about and beat me up over, apparently.
Anyway, plan called for 7km this morning, I had to slow myself down a couple of times but pretty much nailed the average pace I want to stay at overall. The sky was ugly yet again and I got excited around the half way mark as two raindrops fell on my head, but as soon as I went to hastily stash my earphones out of danger and hunt for my sandwich bag to stick my phone in it stopped again. Bummer.
Tried a quick pre-run warm up stretch/yoga/something from the internet before I went out simply because everyone else had left before me so there was nobody to give me funny looks! Then did a cool-down one from the same page when I got home, didn't really like that one though and had to do my usual leg stretches afterwards.
Finally, I apparently died on my run today (Admittedly it's really dark here when I set off, roll on clocks changing this weekend, and two cars failed to stop for me at pedestrian crossings even though I was in fluorescent yellow so maybe I actually did get run over and it hasn't sunk in yet).... when I went to check my pulse immediately after I stopped running, as is my habit to check how I recover, I didn't have one! Either that or my fitbit's playing up again **sigh**
2/10: 6km

LOL I enjoyed chatting. I really hope you sleep well!
I'm all set for my 11k run tomorrow. I'm planning on running twice around the Auckland domain. Should be interesting as there are many paths and im likely to be dodging other runners/commuters. I'll be taking my phone on case I get lost... This should be interesting!6 -
Anyone hear how @LaDispute57 did? I feel like he should have finished his race by now, but I did not see any update...4

Miles for Dennis
https://strava.com/athletes/milesfor_dennis If the link doesn't work, just search for him. "Miles for" is the first name, "Dennis" is the last name
Once you're connected as followers, tag him on the run you dedicated to him (under "edit activity". That's the "add a friend who didn't log" option.) Once we get the notification, one of the administrators can save it as a Dennis run. When we have everyone's runs logged, someone who is good at the fun mapping tools can come up with some visualizations for us This will work for the marathons people are doing in the future as well.
Administrators: How about @Orphia , @Elise4270 , @_nikkiwolf_ , others??? Basically we're accepting friend requests, then when we get notification that someone sent us a run, add it as Dennis' own with the name of the person in the title. I had to save the picture and manually add it to my own run.
@polskagirl01 Sorry I didn't reply right away (spent Fri-Mon at my parents 50th wedding anniversary, didn't get a single chance to check in at MFP). Thank you for creating the account! Letting people tag runs and adding them seems much better than giving everyone the password. If you need one more person to accept requests & add runs, sure, I'll be happy to help3 -
Nice cool 5 miles this morning. 55F with drizzle. Felt good not to race. Looking to get into the meat of marathon training. Sounds good now, but I know it will start to get really hard very soon. Just hoping I can keep up with the miles without getting hurt.
Good call on getting to the doc @7lenny7. Hoping for good news.4 -
Thank you, @MegaMooseEsq. You're right. I need to keep a better attitude, too.
I'm stupidly excited about a couple new purchases. First, I picked up my very first pair of tights/leggings - North Face Warm Winter ones, or something like that. Wore them walking on Sunday in approx-freezing temps but was a bit too cold for that. Running yesterday in the same was great, though! Just enough warmth and it made me feel like a real runner. lol Then yesterday our Tracer360 and LightHounds arrived. Fitted the three of us and am about to head out for our morning walk. Thanks to @shanaber for sharing the discount code for those.
Have a great Tuesday, everyone!8 -
