@Elise4270 I am so happy to hear that. There are others similar to BitGym if you find you really like that.
Peloton is AWESOME. I have done several running and a couple of walking workouts already since Friday. They also have Bootcamp, Strength Training, Yoga, Meditation, Stretching and Cardio. All of which I am looking forward to checking out. There is a hefty monthly fee of $19.50, however to have all these classes in your home verses having to go to a gym it just might be worth it.
Here are a few of the other apps that I have checked out.
Treadmill TV offers something similar, but I don't think the video speed is based on movement, although it is only $2.00 a month for all their videos. You can control the speed a little, but it isn't intuitive on how to do it. It is irritating that every time I login I have to restore my purchase, but I guess for the price it is worth it.
Virtual Active is similar to BitGym, but you pay around $7.00 per video, but the videos are yours for life, verses the monthly fee of BitGym. However if you cancel your BitGym membership the videos are gone.
Treadmill Trails also similar to BitGym, but it is just a video not based on speed. Their videos are only $0.99, and they have a bunch. Again, once you own the video it is yours to keep forever.

@polskagirl01 that snow globe run sounds divine!
I got out last night for an hour long power walk. My daughter was going to join me but she had just returned from the gym with my son so she backed out. It was just Kody & I. I could tell it had been a while since he'd be out in the neighborhood because he had to stop EVERYwhere to sniff the previous dog's scent and add his own. That and four poop stops make for a slow walk.
It was only the second time out with Kody in his Noxgear LED harness and I got a compliment from a neighbor for it. It really lights up well.
One of my pet peeves is when people post those "Make $500/wk from home!!" or "We buy houses for cash!" signs at the busy corners. I think they're trashy and consider it litter, so I do my civic duty and pull them out and take them home. I find the make great target holders when we take our rifles target shooting. So thank you, neighborhood litter bug!

The holiday streak is so fun I don't want it to end! Must admit my ankles and legs are a little sore, but not terrible.
Today is my 33rd anniversary. FYI, if you are planning a wedding, I don't recommend Dec 24th. We tend to forget it is our anniversary because we are so busy with Christmas stuff. When our kids were little we would completely forget it.

@ddmom0811 Happy anniversary!0

I somehow lost track of time. I swear I did one of my normal 5 mile routes, but I ended up with 6 miles. Oh well, felt good. Nice recovery run. Weather was perfect.
Happy anniversary @ddmom0811!
Merry Christmas to everyone! Hope y'all get some good running swag in your stockings!9 -
Happy Anniversary @ddmom0811!
@msarobix thanks for the tips on apps like BitGym, etc! I was not aware but should have guessed there were apps like that. Might have to try although I'm usually audio entertainment only on the treadmill, maybe visuals would help.

I drove to Lake Placid today and had to get a run in almost immediately after I got here. It was very snowy and the footing not great, but I just circled Mirror Lake which has a sidewalk path all the way around. They run a dogsled on the lake for rides so I stopped by and checked that out. The ride was very short though so I didn't do it but enjoyed watching the dogs.
Have a happy holiday everyone.

Happy anniversary! I know all about bad days to get married, my husband and I have our anniversary on the day Elvis died, and we live in Memphis. You can forget about hotel or restaurant reservations for our anniversary!5 -
5k around the lake. That's goal for me - actually I hit it last run but failed to notice. Another beautiful day at the park! I ran wearing a hairband with bells on it and people were laughing and smiling at me.
Today we saw two red-tailed hawks, including a HUGE one, a kestrel, and a very irate kingfisher. I don't know why he didn't like us but he was extremely vocal. Maybe my bells bothered him.
This was supposed to be an easy - well, easy-ish - run since yesterday was a heavy lifting day for legs and the day before was a long run, but it was chilly and breezy and we ended up running our second fastest 5k time. 27:33. And honestly it wasn't that hard, hopefully not a fluke.
Merry Christmas all my running buddies!9 -
I ran parkrun today (special Xmas parkrun, yay!) and my foot/ankle/heel felt good!
Merry Chrimbo, MFPMRCers!

Today is my 33rd anniversary. FYI, if you are planning a wedding, I don't recommend Dec 24th.
One of my Great Aunts ( grandma's sister ) got married on Dec 24th - back in the Old Days when you would get married and 9-12 months later have a child. Married on the 24th when my uncle got off the Train after returning from his Tour of Duty with the Canadian Army - became a mom/dad on the 26th, you do the math.
The managers sent us home at noon today, I was at a remote site doing a repair so didn't get back to the office until just before 3pm. Everyone was gone, doors locked and lights turned off.
I hurried home and quickly geared up for a short run in the Twilight. Managed a very nice slow 10.2 km along the Riverbank Trails. The trails are Boot/Shoe packed so lots of uneven footing which is tough to run at speed but a good workout for core stability as you have to make so many little balance adjustments to prevent a Face plant.
The Big sheets of pan ice are starting to pile up at the bends in the river, at islands and on the bridge piers so it won't be long and the River should freeze in. Usually its frozen by first week of Dec. The crew building the new Bridge over the river are quite happy that it's not frozen yet - they are required to pull all their Construction Pile Walls and back filled construction berms out as soon as it freeze's so that when the spring thaw comes the ice has a clear path to move through town without backing up and flooding the Town Center Business District.
Once the River Freezes we can start to think about our traditional Run Across the River that we try to do - if ice conditions allow it. Last year the ice did not set in a smooth surface but set and then moved causing huge pressure ridges, open holes and lots of water on top the ice so we opted out for safety reasons - none of us want to do a un-planned polar Bear Swim.
Merry Christmas to all my MFP Friends

@katharmonic Many years ago (1997) I lived in a city where the Aboriginal Trappers and Hunters would use there dog teams to come to town to go shopping during the winter. They would travel along the frozen rivers and setup a temporary camp in the shelter of the trees along the river right in town. There were so many Dog teams that they actually installed warning signs for " Dog Team Crossing" the same way you night get a Deer Crossing sign or a Train Crossing sign on the roads.
I got to know a few of them and as a joke we borrowed a Taxi Stand sign from a hotel and planted it in the ice on the river and did a little video. We had 5-6 people line up at the sign. A snowmobile pulled up 2 people climbed on and away they went then the dog teams came up and people climbed into the sleighs and away they went. We sent it away to our HQ in Lynchburg Virgina ( GE ) and they fell for it.
@Orphia You need to get a top, shorts and shoes that match the color pattern of your tights.5 -
Today I got to run 7.04 miles. I officially hit 50 miles for December - a pretty big drop from the 94 miles I ran in September, but nothing I’m going to feel bad about. PLUS I hit 500 miles for 2018, which really feels like an accomplishment even if it is a pretty arbitrary one (go base 10!).
Aside from the milestones it was a pretty great run, though definitely tough in places. My last run was four days ago and I’ve gone over my calories a few times recently, so naturally I was starting to worry that I was about to regained all the weight I’ve lost and, even worse, that I’d forget how to run and have to start over at the beginning. Only that’s not worry, that’s anxiety, and of course I can still run.
I had pretty good weather for my first official winter run - 25 degrees, not much wind, mostly sunny. I started off planning on running around my home lake and adding a lap around the neighboring lake if I felt up for it, but decided almost immediately to head for the longer loop around lake number three instead. This is one of my favorite routes and I believe was my first 10K run, but one I haven’t done in a while - not since October 9th by my spreadsheet.
I wore my Peregrines out of an abundance of caution - we haven’t had much snow but have had some melt-refreeze cycles recently, which made the sidewalks really treacherous early in the weekend. If I’d stuck to the paths I would have been fine either way, but as it turned out a shortcut turned into a half-mile or so of icy trail adventures, so I was glad to have the trail shoes. In related news, trail running is tough on my calves/shins/ankles!
Once again I went out fast, but weirdly it didn’t hurt me too bad towards the end of the run. Yes I was tired, but it wasn’t bad tired. Miles 2 and 7 averaged 11’16” and 11’12”, but considering that second mile was largely off-road and the seventh largely on sidewalks (and included a walk break to restart my music) the slower place made sense. Miles 1, 3, and 4 were all between 10’04” and 10’09”, which is pretty speedy for me and right around my 10K PR pace. Miles 5 and 6 were 10’20” and 10’30”, which is still plenty respectable for me and definitely faster than what I’ve been considering my “easy” pace.
I’m genuinely not sure what’s going on with my pace right now - checking my watch is a pain when I’m wearing several layers so I’ve mostly just been running by feel the last month or two. I’d expected my runs to be slower regardless of ice because of needing more time to warm up and because I’m just not running as often or as far as I was earlier in the year. I know a couple of times I’ve regretted staring too fast, but in general I’ve felt good after these faster runs, so who knows. /shrug
Merry Christmas to those celebrating! I'm a non-observant neo-pagan, my husband is an atheist, and neither of us especially enjoy gift-giving, so we generally only celebrate Christmas to keep his folks happy. They let us off the hook this year on account of recent house-buying and taking care of my mom, so other than sleeping in a bit it was a normal Monday for me, albeit one with my husband underfoot. I don't get PTO but I did get an unexpected holiday bonus, so I'm not worried if my hours are a little low this week.

@Teerai I've had something similar weeks ago. I just closed it and never saw it again. Definitely report it .
https://myfitnesspal.desk.com/customer/portal/emails/new
Virus’ access your computer even if you try to close them on the X.
That is why you don’t touch random popups.
Again, this only happens on the mfp food and exercise log pages.
I have continually closed the whole page and cleared cache immediately.
Even rebooting computer.
I access MFP by website (so much better navigation than app) but now have not been able to log food or exercise for 3 days.
I reported it to the link Orphia gave me. Thank you!
This is what it looks like:
NOTICE THE ADDRESS CHANGES EACH NEW EFFORT TO DOWNLOAD!
And this only happens on food and exercise logging pages.
Please report if you did get it or do get it!
Thanks

@Teerai I've never encountered that on MFP before but I get that same pop up occasionally on my newsfeed. It seems to be a bad ad. Have you tried adblocking software?0
