@rheddmobile Congrats on meeting all your goals! You have accomplished quite a lot this year!!
Met my Dec goal today! Beat the rain too, so all good!
I got a Fitbit versa for Christmas this year! I really liked my Fitbit but I was looking for an upgrade and desperately missed having a watch. It syncs with Strava, so I also signed up for that today. I used it for my run today and I think it will be cool, but I'm going to have to play with it a little to figure out all the stuff it can do. The watch is supposed to start automatically tracking, but it takes too long to recognize when I am actually running. So, definitely going to manual start in the future. At least I have a backup if I forget. It also had one of my splits at like 7'50" or something crazy like that. I am not that fast. Not sure what happened there.

I made my goal! Plus I finally caught up on this thread so I feel accomplished.
I had a great run this morning. It was really fun. The weather calls for rain and thunderstorms all day. But it looked like I might have a good window this morning so I got up early to run before work. I got some sleeves for Christmas and I really wanted to try them out. It wasn't cold (60F) but it was pretty windy (16mph) so I thought that the sleeves would be ok. It wasn't raining when I set out but I could feel some droplets of water in the air. The first 2 miles were really good. I also got new gloves and I took them off after 1 mile because it really wasn't cold enough for gloves, but they did help with the wind. I had just taken my sleeves off at almost 2 miles when it started to rain. So I put the sleeves and the gloves back on. It worked really well. I would definitely have been too hot in a jacket, but the sleeves were perfect. I wasn't too hot, but it was nice to be protected from the rain. I got a new hat and new a new ear band too. I wore the ear band because of the wind and it was good because my ears get pretty cold when it is windy, but the hat would have been nice after it started raining. I'm excited to try out the hat too because it is pretty snug and the hat I've been wearing is kind of loose. Either way I really enjoyed running in the rain this morning. I'm glad I got it done too because it was a nice rain and after I got home the thunder and lightening started and I wouldn't have wanted to run in that. I think we are in for more thunderstorms today too.
I hope everyone who celebrated had a great Christmas. We had a good one. Both of my kids were here so that made it good. I didn't run yesterday or on Christmas Eve, but I didn't plan to. I just spent time with my family and really enjoyed that. I got some cool running swag that I have already enjoyed. Plus I got a medal rack and I am excited to put that up. I don't know if it changed my life, but it made me happy.

@elise4270 - is there a way to edit the title? I couldn't see it but I know in other groups I have been able to.
I was also going to repost the link in the challenge 'announcement list' to add 'January 2019' but forgot to add that and just reposted the link.... it won't even let me edit the post there.
Ya I thought i could edit the title and its contents indefinitely. Something may have changed or i made that part up.
Grrr! And i tried so hard no to goof it up!3 -
3.9 km Riverbank Shorty. Between the boot packed snow and the light powdery snow it made for challenging footing. Very unstable as the boot pack would crumble out from underneath your foot resulting in lots of ankle rotation and a Toes up position. As a result of the Toes Up position by 1.5 km I felt the start of stress in my calf's from this and decided to cut it short of my planned 10k. By the time I got to 2.7km I had to stop and do some calf stretch's to release the strain.

Well I’m still here, lurking.
Just skimmed through comments and now I want an iPad too....
So I’m trying to get back on track with running, and am following some random 1/2 marathon plan I got from somewhere. It has lots of interval type sessions, so I’ve been using them to build speed.
On Monday I looked down at my watch and saw the words ‘7.48’ in the current pace box. What? Not possible!!! This made me very happy, especially as I realised my ‘easy’ pace was now around the 11 minute mile level. There’s a lot to be said for speed sessions it seems, and these things have given me no end of motivation that improvement IS possible!!
The last couple of days I’ve been visiting my family and borrowing/stealing my sisters dog for walks and runs. This morning we had lots of beach (doesn’t mean no wet feet) so a good run/walk along there.
Feeling great for the end of the year. My January will begin with snowshoeing, ice-axing and climbing a mountain in France or maybe Spain. Too late to be fit enough now, I just have to not be injured.12 -

I decided to give up my Facebook account so I had to delete my MFP as a result and start over. This is why I only have a few posts under my name. My goal was to hit about 110 miles for the month. I had a to skip a few runs here and there due to some sore hips. But I'm feeling a lot better now.6 -
Turns out that me feeling a little better on Sunday morning was a fluke. Spent the night with a marvelous stomach bug that knocked me out for a good 3 days. I’m pretty sure I’m good now though! My run was hard today but I got it done

Nominal December mileage goal: 160 miles
Real Goals: Recover from the strained hamstring. Work back to running faster only as the hamstring allows. Run Freezeroo #1 as allowed by my physical condition on race day, with a blind eye toward age group standings. Have a solid base of 40 miles per week by the end of December to start Boston training.
Today's Holiday notes – Well, I got busy and didn't check in here. Christmas Eve morning, the local Fleet Feet sponsors the Egg Nog Jog. In past years, there were 2, 3, or 5 mile routes to run; and when you get back to the store, you drink a cup of egg nog. This year, there were only 2 and 3 mile routes. They were out of the 3 mile tic sheets when I got there. The 2 mile route was very familiar, I didn't need to look at the sheet. Looked at a friend's 3 mile sheet; there was only one street name I really had to remember to make a left hand turn, the rest was very familiar. So I set out, and it turned out that no one was using me as a pacer. I kind of deliberately missed that left turn to add distance, and got it to where a little OCD in the parking lot made 5 miles. My friend (normally a 9:00 to 9:30 pace runner) told me I missed the turn; I assured her that was planned.
Christmas Day, my daughter invited me to her place to watch Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and work on a 3-D jigsaw puzzle. Lots of fun, very sedentary. I got only about 3000 steps Christmas Day, and no running. But I managed not to overeat, so there is that.
Today I used the daylight hours to do a bit of grocery shopping and work on understanding 2018 tax law in preparation for volunteer work doing VITA tax prep. Got out to run about 6, in the dark. Given the light mileage so far this week, I wanted 8 to 10 miles. Managed to run a route that I adjusted on the fly to get right to 10 miles when I got back to my driveway. That felt pretty good, after just having a short run Monday and no run at all yesterday.
December goal check-in: As of today, I met my nominal monthly mileage goal; and I have 3 running days left in December. The strained hamstring is all better. I ran Freezeroo #1 fast, but not kill myself fast, and avoided re-injury. And I have a pretty solid base of 40-42 miles per week. Technically, Boston training started on Sunday; but the speed work is kind of disrupted until January 3. That's okay. And I need to think about goals for January, particularly since that thread is up already.
Month End Question: I didn't pick up any new running bling over the holiday, and that's okay. I pretty much have what I need for running.

Well, I left without my hand warmers. Dummy me. Temp was 46 to start, and knew I would need heavy gloves, but thought I could get away without burning a handwarmer set. Temp fell to the thirties by the time I got back though. Fingers where soooooooo cold.
Pulled them out of the glove/mitten combo and yep. Stark white. I mean I am "white boy" but this was way white. Like white paint white. Tried to take a picture but could not get my fingers working enough. Till they warmed up and were not nearly as white. Hurt though.
So I guess that is the final confirmation. I can add Raynaud's to the list of things wrong with me. Yay!9 -

Well the good news is you know what it is now. Instead of just being the guy who has to use hand warmers you are a guy with Raynaud's, a condition with a name!1 -
On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me... this medal rack and chalkboard which we hung today. Now I have to fill in our PRs!
It's supposed to be stormy tomorrow and I won't run in lightning, plus my legs were crying out for a low impact day, so we took a walk tonight and looked at lights. And we saw this bizarre scene, Snoopy seems to have become a lynching victim! I can only assume they hoisted him up because he wasn't visible behind their other stuff, and weighted his feet so he wouldn't blow sideways, but it really looks bad!7 -

We have something similar except it can be Christmas eve or Christmas Day depending on when the greatest number of kids will be around. The Scavenger Hunt is a set of clues for each kid or family group where what ever color the first scrap of paper is will be the color of all the clues for them and they don't all have the same clue so they aren't traveling in one big pack. On the bottom of the pieces of paper will be a single letter which they will need to open the combination lock on the mystery box when they find it, so they need to keep all the pieces of paper and remember what order they found them in. We do a lot of this outside to burn off some sugar energy ( and give more hiding spots ) with most of the clues hidden outside they have to run around the Farm yards or country acreage looking for the next clue. Usually good for an hour of running around outside after the meal. The most common item in the mystery box - books - nothing like a tired kid grabbing a book for a read and falling a sleep before they can get a second sugar - goody high.December goal. Yeah. Move.
12/25 cooked.
Upcoming races: January 4, 2019 Hilo to Volcano Ultra 50k Relay. In memory of @KeepRunningFatboy
@HonuNui Yes it looks like the remnants of a good evening with family and friends. I think I will have to hit the Trails on Jan 4 for a few km's in memory also.
@MobyCarp Accidentally missing a turn well done.
@PastorVincent At least you know it's Raynaud's and can make adjustments and allowances in your activities/clothing for it. We have a friend in our little club who has it and on the really cold days he just says nope not doing it - Like you he also uses the hand warmers - he got some light weight polypropylene wicking gloves modified with a little pocket on the palm and back of the hand where he can insert the chemical hand warmers - as he would say its a 2 pack day for the cold days. They are inner liners for his main glove. I believe he said he bought 2 pairs and took them to a lady who does sewing/repairs and she cut the one pair up and sewed it onto the other one with a chemical pack as a size model. I think someone posted a link or picture to gloves that actually had a pocket in them.2
