2.5 miles on the treadmill today, including 20 minutes of sort-of intervals (1 minute at 11 min/mile, 2 minutes at 12 min/mile). It's amazing how all of a sudden 2.5 miles is a "short" run, when a year ago I couldn't imagine running that far continuously! Supposed to do 3 easy miles tomorrow. I'd like to do them outside, but I'm not sure I'll have enough time before dark to get that done.
27.0/45.0 miles for January so far14 -
@girlinahat, wow! I'm absolutely in awe of your trip.0

@PastorVincent - Loved your "nice things list" about the treadmill (dreadmill as you call it). ALL reason why I prefer to run there verses outside, especially when the temperatures drop in Michigan. It is really my preferred method for running, even when outdoor conditions are idea, for all the same reason you mentioned.

I was at a gym place today. Did some treadmill intervals, mostly to prove to myself that in some dimension I can still hit 12 minute miles. I forgot to even look at how far I had gone. So, let’s call it 1 mile. So, 8.6 for the month?7

Y’all this is too much 😂 I usually obsessively follow this thread and include it in my daily(or hourly) social media checks, but I hadn’t looked at it in 2 weeks while out of the country. 4 hours reading through the thread and I’m still 20 pages behind 😂😭

Last (probably) run before Houston marathon. Tapering must be working because I just went out for an easy 3 miles, just trying to keep a slow, steady pace throughout the run. Turned out to be about :30 faster for each mile. Hoping in carries through on Sunday. If I am able to finish, @KeepRunningFatboy can cross Texas off the list of states

3 miles today. Great run could have went further but it was too dark and I don't have any lights. Question does anyone have issues with dogs? They are friendly but they follow me. I can't get them to stay home and I'm afraid they will get lost or hit by a car. I spoke to the owners of 2 that follow me and their solution was for me to not run down the road, join a gym. The other owners do not care. One of the dogs, Max, super friendly and quite large rolled me in the ditch twice and then once I started walking just followed me home. I called the number on his tag and his owner thought the story was hilarious and just told me to send him home. So my routes are getting really messed up and I don't know what to do about it really.12

@Scott6255 I'm looking forward to hearing about your race! You're going do great, I'm sure!3

W1D2 of c25k done. The last sunny day before the rain comes back for the next few days. While I love running with my dog, she loses focus really easy and loves to sniff. Luckily the longer walk sessions allows her to get most of her sniffing out of the way before the run sessions start up.

Yukon Do it! 1/2 marathon--December7 -
@Scott6255 so excited for your marathon and can't wait to hear how it goes for you. Enjoy your rest these next few days and try to enjoy the whole experience! My coach always advises a short 15-minute easy shake-out run the day before. I think it helps get some nerves out.
@Butterchop sorry about the dog problem. If the owners are going to be so uncaring about it I would probably call animal control or whoever deals with loose dogs in your town. Friendly or not, rolling you in a ditch is a problem and you shouldn't have to deal with this.

Another treadmill run today. Just barely left myself enough time and had to kick it up a notch a few times in the second half to get to 4 miles before my circuit training started. Not that it really mattered, just got my mind set on that and had to get it done.

I know my husband keeps telling me to call animal control. It's just I used to foster for our local shelter and so so many animals were never reclaimed and were euthanized I just struggle with doing it. I guess I will stick to my weird repeating paths until i come up with something. The 3 that followed me today were fine , they didn't jump on me or anything.I just worry about them. Honestly if my dog wasn't aggressive to other dogs I would probably just let them all live here lol.9

My stomach was iffy at best. I should have know better than to go out running. I knew I was in big trouble at mile 4.7.... It was a journey (and not in a good way).
I’ve thrown out a quarter of the food in my fridge. I don’t know what I ate, but I want to never eat it again.

No run, to many errands to run...5

A quick run after work as needed to go to the grocery store. Used the rolling hill setting and felt great. Would have liked to keep going, but knew I didn’t have time so was happy to get the run in.

Today's notes – Felt beat up this morning after yesterday evening's speed work. Took it really slow, and by 11 AM I was feeling good enough to do this:
Then registration closed by noon. This one sells out fast.
Lovely weather this afternoon, sunny and near freezing. Nice day for an afternoon easy run. But I had a podiatrist appointment at 2:30, sigh. That put a huge hole in the afternoon, and I wasn't recovered enough from speed work to run in the morning. Nothing for it but to run in the evening. Set out at 6 PM, in full darkness, for 8 to 10 miles. Temperature was down to 20° F (-7°C), with 16 mph NW wind. Temperature was supposed to drop slowly, and wind was supposed to ease off gradually.
Turned out I was psyched out about the weather for nothing. Put on the appropriate layers, added my reflective harness and lights, and set out to run familiar roads. There was traffic; but it's mid-January, not mid-December. The traffic did normal, predictable stuff that wasn't scary. Ran a residential section in the reverse direction of my usual route. Explored some residential roads I don't usually run. Ran around RIT campus. Started taking stock of known distances to home, and adjusted the distance to get close to 10 miles. Had to run past my driveway, but not very far past.
Look at results. 7:29 average pace? Oops, this was supposed to be an easy run, not marathon pace. Look at the HR. Typical fake peak early, but average 136 even with the fake peak. Look at the HR on mile splits. Past the fake peak, max HR was 141. Mile splits were 7:51, 7:37, 7:27, 7:31, 7:26, 7:33, 7:21, 7:22, 7:22, 7:17. Call it close to my new, faster MP (7:20 target) for the last 4 miles.
If it doesn't get warm on Patriots' Day, I could have a pretty good race this year.

Well, I did it. I upped my calories to maintenance. I have gotten to my goal weight and am getting hungry, which I never was before. It's a little scary because I've been at a deficit for almost a year and I really don't want to gain weight back. But, it's time. I am moving into recomposition. The extra calories should make the workouts much easier! I'm going to add in some more strength training to target some areas that the rock climbing doesn't hit as well.
Ran 3 miles this evening in the mist. Got rained on for a few minutes, but luckily it was towards the end of my run.

4.5 miles with Kody tonight, outside, on the streets, in the dark. Beautiful running weather at 18F and little wind. So far, so good. No pain but my right Achilles down to the inside of my heel was tight. I'll try a warm up next time.
I did get my first ice beard of the season but it wasn't worth a photo.
