This thread is just what I need.
R77 SW: 246.0 lbs. EW: TBD
(This is my 1st Round. I’m here for accountability!!)
MGW1: 220 lbs.
MGW2: 199 lbs.
UGW: 185 lbs.
Day/Weight/Comment
05/13 – 246.0 lbs. – I wanted to continue C25K training Week 4 Day 1. I realized I didn’t eat enough to go for the run. Went home cook a good meal and worked out with my hand weights during commercials while watching 911.
05/14 – 246.0 lbs. – I completed C25K Week 4 Day 1. My sinuses threw me for a loop, but I was determined to finish it. It took me a lot longer though. Logged my meals in MFP for the first time in months and I was under calorie goal with the exercise of course. Got home and did 20 burpees, 30 squats, 35 crunches and 30 plank jacks. The burpees were the hardest, but I did all 20 of them.
05/15 – 244.3 lbs. – Now that’s a nice surprise this morning!!! YAY!! The plan for today is to take a walk with 5 lbs. dumbbells. Then, 45 jumping jacks, 15 push-ups, 35 squats and 35 crunches.
05/16 – 244.1 lbs. – (Hey, I’ll take that!) The bread from that sub is probably to blame. I packed my lunch today. The walk with the weights was interesting yesterday. Seemed to make me walk faster and get my core involved. I felt a lot of soreness in my side last night. Today’s Workout: C25K Week 4 Day 2. I’m hoping to get through it with the prompts and not have to extend the walk times to recover from the runs. Then, 45 High Knees, 35 sec Plank, 35 Lunges and 15 push-ups.
05/17 – 244.6 lbs. – (Ok, I need to get some green veggies in my system) I packed my lunch again today!! I am so pleased with my C25K training and myself yesterday! I DID IT! I made it all the way through with the prompts (2 sets of 3 min and 5 min jogs)!! Yay!! I wanted to do more last night but I also didn’t want to overdo it since my ankles were already aching. I plan to do a walk with 5 lb. weights today. Then 45 jumping jacks, 15 push-ups, 35 squats and 35 crunches.
05/18 – 243.0 lbs. – (oh yeah! Veggies putting in work!) Didn’t even workout like I planned to yesterday. Got up early this morning to complete C25K Week 4 Day 3. Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy! Also did 45 high knees, 35 sec plank, 35 lunges, 15 pushups and the circuit from yesterday I skipped. Accomplished!!
05/19 – DNW – Rest day. Saw Ella Mai in concert last night.
05/20 – DNW – Ended up being another rest day. My legs were worn-out. Definitely trying to listen to my body this time around with the C25K program. I laid with my legs elevated most of the day.
05/21 – 243.0 lbs. – (YES!) managed to maintain during my rest days. I’m proud. Planning to eat a salmon salad from Longhorn today and compete C25K Week 5 Day 1. Then, 25 Burpees (I’m getting better), 45 Squats, 45 Crunches, 35 Plank Jacks

05/13 146.8 ugh the bad choices on the weekend. I know this will come off quickly though so my goal should be achievable.
05/14 148.8 deserved
05/15 145.8
05/16 144.6 almost at my low from last round.
05/17 143.4 ?? I’ll take it going into a long weekend.
05/18 144.2 I guess I had a lot more sodium yesterday than I thought. I’m not usually surprised by a rise but I didn’t see this coming. Oh well...things are going pretty well so not worried.

GOAL. This month I am planning a non stop dieting month. The first week didn't go as well as planned so I am hitting the restart and refresh button. May 13th-JUne 13th I will be dieting non stop, fasting and will only allow 3 cheat meals at most (not days) and keep them limited to events I can not control (meaning no Saturday morning high calorie breakfasts that potentially will derail the rest of my day) this is an experiment to see what I could potentially accomplish if I stuck to it for the whole month.

5/13 142 triple yikes, this weekend was less than ideal. I am restarting my whole month because I can and I am the boss and now that I have seen the gain, i know for sure this is a slippery slope. I am also starting a 16-8 fast, hoping this will shrink my appetite. Cheers to new beginnings (day 1/31 accomplished)
5/14 140.8 2/31 accomplished
5/15 139.0 3/31 accomplished fasting has been going good so far. Ending my day after 8 and eating my first meal at lunch around noon has been surprisingly easier than I thought....But tomorrow will be a rough day. I get to eat breakfast but my fast starts at 10 and doesn't end until 6 am Friday morning. My first long fast. I have a bunch of things planned to keep me busy and although I have had not so hungry days before, i have never forced a longish term fast based off will power alone....So wish me luck
5/16 139.4 4/31 accomplished no real reason for this gain, worked out, stayed under calories and accomplished my fast yesterday. I have also accomplished my longish fast today and am hoping for good results tomorrow. The only good thing about this fast, is it is forcing me to get my water in lol.
5/17 137 5/31 accomplished
5/18 136.8 x. 5/31 Tonight was concert night and I wanted to make sure I ate enough since I was planning on drinking. I stuck to my fast but definitley ate over calories.
5/19 no weigh in 6/31. Today is a full day fast so I won't be eating until tomorrow morning at 9 am. I will be pretaking the win for the day out of good faith. Just tons of water and some black coffee for me
5/20 136.4 x 6/31 did my fast but ended a little over my calorie goal. So that is two days taken off so far. I am pushing to really save that last day for a day I have no choice in the matter, like a family barbecue or event. Luckily I am finding it easier to stick the path (even if I am only a week in) fasting has really helped me (already!!!) Control what I eat, the amount of food and has shrunk my stomach enough to feel full faster. I have never been a fast advocate (I understand it's healthy from time to time but I am not a fan of it being used for weight loss goals alone) but I am actually really loving it. I didn't think I could do it but now I know I not only can but I can push forward for more!! It's great

After a bad end of last round I’m hopeful of staying on track and getting close to my first 50 pound loss.
05/13 335.2 A nice beginning of round loss. I’m hopeful of getting back and beyond the low I had middle of last round. I was fully on track yesterday and hopefully that trend will continue.
05/14 333.4 I’m cautiously optimistic about this weigh in. I was very on track with everything yesterday. I know that all the supposed gain of the last few days was water retention and this weight is very close to last weeks low. If I continue on track I might hit my mini goal this round.
05/15. 332.6 And back to a new low. I’m happy to see the weekend gain gone.
05/16 331.2 That’s on track and it looks like the last of the water gain is gone. I’ve hit my 50 pound lost goal and if I stay on track the rest of this round I might see my monthly goal weight too.
05/17 330.2 I’ see if this sticks, but I won’t be too surprised by a slight uptick. It’s not unusual for that to happen after a couple of large drops. I’m hopeful though because this is a half pound from my goal for the month.
05/18 330.0 Almost there, if I stay on track and low sodium I’ll see my goal for the month tomorrow. If not I know that I’ll see it before the end of the round.
05/19 329.0 I’m not sure about this free fall of my weight. I’ve been on track with everything so maybe some of it is from water retention or something. I expect that it will stop or even bounce soon.
05/20 327.4 Still in free fall. I’m still holding my breath and waiting on the bounce up. I’ll be surprised if I don’t see one this round.
05/21 328.8 I’m more than okay with this bounce up. At about 6am I had a coughing fit that resulted in a bunch of water being drank before my weigh in. That combined with a high sodium day yesterday and being under the weather, well the bounce up was going to happen. I’m just happy that it wasn’t higher and that I remained under my goal for the month. I’m on track and I’ll see some more drops soon.

I am a 50 year old 5'5" woman. I am trying to get healthier to avoid diabetes and all of the problems that come from being overweight.
I have found this challenge to be both rewarding and frustrating! Looking at my weight daily has been a real eye opener to see all of the fluctuations and how a high carb day will affect me and the loss for 2-3 days after. I have been participating in this challenge since Round 40.
Start Weight Feb 2018 - 202

Round 76 - SW - 175.2 EW - 176.2 - Average weight over 10 days - 176.5
May 13 - 176.2 - had a lot of carbs and salt over the weekend and really feeling heavy today. Hopefully lots of water will help.
May 14 - 177.2 - my stomach is a heavy ball of nerves today, does that affect the scale any?
May 15 - 178.4 - got through my interview and really had a great day whether I get the job or not. Food wise, not so much, but Ill be better the rest of the week.
May 16 - 177.4 - had a pretty laid back day yesterday. Managed to keep food under control by crafting most of the day. Tonight is my swimming lesson.
May 17 - 174.5 - this was a surprise to see this morning. Had a wonderful swim lesson last night and lost of calories left over for the day.
May 18 - 176.4 - very late night and early morning could be a contributing factor. Also, the frozen pizza and cheesies probably weren’t the best decision.
May 19 - out of town no scale.
May 20 - 177.6 - two very high carb days in a row and way over calorie count for two days. A couple days of regular activity and lots of water should help.
May 21 - 177.4 - another high calorie day and not a lot of exercise yesterday. Seemed to have slept better this morning so hopefully a better day today.7 -
@MarisaMSimon Hang in there! I am impressed that you are taking good care of your physical health while dealing with the PTSD. DH has PTSD so I have some idea of how debilitating it is. Hope you have some better days soon.6

5/15 172.9 I'm pretty happy with that number considering some of the questionable choices I made while visiting my sick friend. Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and prayers. He is stable but still in critical condition. I drove home yesterday; I had to come to work today. Luckily I have a job that allows me to take 3 unexpected vacation days with no warning or penalty. I think what saved me weight wise is that I walked twice a day. I found a couple of nice trails close to the hospital in case I needed to go back quickly. Sitting for 12 or 14 hours in the hospital would have been too much. I can tell I'm stressed, MS is making my legs tingle and despite sleeping well my body is aching all over. I'm trying to decide if I should walk tonight. Part of me thinks it would make me feel good mentally, part of me thinks my body needs a break.
5/16 171.2 Maybe all that walking made a difference. I don't know. I took off yesterday afternoon. Came home and napped for an hour or two then planted flowers and did everything I could to relax. I am feeling much better today. My friend is still stable which is all we can ask for right now.
5/17 171.2 I'm still happy because this weight is lower than my round goal. Of course, I'd love to go even lower in the next 5 days but I'm just going to stick with the program and see what happens. I haven't walked since Monday. I looked it up on Mapmyfitness and I walked 20 miles last week. Stress walking at it's best. I wanted to go last night but it was in the '90s so no walking outside and the thought of going to the gym didn't appeal to me. It's going to be in the high 80's but cloudy this afternoon, I think I'll be alright. Happy Friday ya'll.
5/18 171.5 I did walk 2.5 miles but was getting hot and stopped. Ate at maintenance, so the slight bump is not freaking me out. Definitely getting a walk in this morning then yard work before the rain comes.
5/19 170.4 I didn’t expect that. I wasn’t able to walk due to rain. My friend is doing ok. He was off the ventilator but he wasn’t getting enough oxygen so they put him back on. The nurse called and put the phone up to his ear. My nephew and his gf were here and we all talked. The nurse said he smiled through the call. It’s hard being so far away.
5/20 No scale. Flew to New Orleans for work today. Spent a couple of hours walking around the French Quarter and a short mile on a trail that was actually kind of boring. The one that I wanted to walk that is near a swamp was flooded My watch says I walked 8.78 miles. Hopefully, that will make up for the beignets I won't know until Friday. Still tracking. I ate back all my exercise calories plus 84... Don't care I've never been here before and the rest of the week will be meeting after boring meeting.
5/21 No scale Slept so well after my early morning flight and walking all day. Breakfast provided had fruit and little else, I suspect trying to be good will be very challenging this week.

OSW : 213 lbs (May 2018)
CSW : 203.7
MGW: 197 lbs
Challenge GW: 200lbs
UGW : 135 lbs
Total Loss-to-Date : -10.5 lbs
Goals I've set for myself until the end of this month:
1/11 workouts by 5/31
0/11 days drinking 90oz+ water
Day/Weight/Comment
05/13 203.7 Was out of town the weekend before plus mother's day, so starting fresh after today.
05/14 202.6 Had a healthy lunch and dinner, kept it mostly low carb.
05/15 201.5 Healthy lunch, but I gave in and had 3/4 of a bread at Panera. Had an unsweetened iced tea
instead of diet soda today! Going to boyfriend's house today after work and he always messes up my healthy eating, so hope to keep making good choices.
05/16 ??? Spent the night at my bf's and his scale is always wrong. Says I'm 203.4, but don't think it's right, so waiting until I get home from work or tomorrow morning to see where I'm at. We had Lucille's for dinner last night, but I portioned everything and skipped on dessert. I did have some diet coke, but also ordered a water and had a little of both. Hope to stay on track today!
05/17 201.1 Had a healthy dinner last night keeping it low carb and only drank coffee and water, no diet sodas! Didn't get to the gym, but decided to take my dog for a walk instead as my workout and feel great! Now just need to get my water up.
05/18 200.6 Knocked out early last night, so been up since 5:30 this morning energized! Had a healthy lunch yesterday and made plank grilled salmon and a salad for dinner. Really happy with results this morning!
05/19 ???- Wen't to my boyfriend's sister's housewarming party last night. Ate very good up until the house party, but I only snacked on a few things and skipped the desserts. Did take a couple shots and had half a coke. Didn't get to weigh in this morning, so hopefully didn't mess up too bad.
05/20 201.9 I'm so upset that this weekend, mainly just Saturday really messed me up. I know I can do great and lose that lb I gained quick, but hate how hard I work and then only a few hours with people can mess it up. I did have a keto breakfast yesterday and today and had a good dinner last night. Staying strong these next few days and going to try and up my water more.
05/21 202.5 Was pretty upset when I saw this number on the scale, especially after how hard I've been working. Not sure if it's water weight from the extra water I'm drinking or from my lunch yesterday. I did have a bento box, but swapped the rice for a salad. Think it was the edamame and vegetable tempura that did it. Everything else I had for lunch and dinner was healthy/LC. I know I got this, but I'm concerned about tonight. My boyfriend is coming over and we're going to the movies. Lord give me strength not to have popcorn and mess everything up!

Hopefully I can just maintain this round and stay where I ended the last round. We have 3 graduation parties, my son and niece’s actual graduation, and a ton of family in town. Lots of eating out and drinks I am sure. It is a time to celebrate, so I’m trying to learn how to celebrate in moderation, both with food and alcohol. That has never been a strong suit of mine, lol.
Round 73: 150.4 - 148.8 (Avg 149.51)
Round 74: 148.8 - 151.9 (Avg 150.65)
Round 75: 151.9 - 148.8 (Avg 148.41)
Round 76: 148.8 - 147.7 (Avg 147.97)
5/13 - 149.6 had Panda Express last night for dinner, so I’m assuming I’m up because of the soy sauce and carbs. Plus I’m sure it’s the rest of my Saturday night activities coming back to haunt me. On a Monday to still be under 150 I am happy. I have my 1st grad party tonight at an Italian restaurant, so I’m going to try and choose wisely. Plan today is to drink lots of water to get the sodium and beer out of my system and try and fill up on salad for dinner. Also no bread or alcohol tonight.
5/14 - 149.6 same which is good. Italian dinner with family last night, plus my husband surprised me with an afternoon movie. Finally got to see the new Avengers which was worth the wait. Ended up having a couple of beers during the movie, but no bread sticks at dinner. We also stopped and grabbed burgers before walking into the movies, so staying the same was expected. Should be back down tomorrow, work all day and the my youngest has her talent show tonight. So meals are planned and prepped.
5/15 - 148.0 Nice drop today, should be back to 146.xxx tomorrow. Just in time for loads of family to come into town. My son and niece graduate tomorrow, so will weigh and check in quickly in the am. Hopefully I can make decent choices tomorrow, I know lunch and dinner will be out and there will be lots of celebrating. I don't think I will make my goal of 145 by tomorrow, but I am really darn close and happy with where I am.
5/16 - 147.0 ate really late last night trying to get ready for the graduation today. Two restaurant meals today and a lot of sitting. Wish me luck!
5/17 - 148.0 and I am back up. I now officially have 2 children that have graduated from high school! I did really well yesterday food wise. I did have a spicy bloody Mary (I just love them so much), 2 beers and maybe 3 glasses of water ( I know terrible). I know I was dehydrated because I woke up twice last night thirsty. I was way under on calories though, my breakfast was just over 300 and then I did not eat again till dinner which was only about 600 calories. Back at work today and hopefully will be back down tomorrow before we have to start the weekend. I have 1 more graduation party on Saturday and I will be done with events for this round. Half way through and right now I haven't made any progress, but I have maintained, which in my book with all the celebrating and eating out I have done, I'm taking it as a win!
05/18 - 147.0 still here just hanging out. My trend weight is the lowest it has ever been, so winner, winner, chicken dinner. Last grad party in this round that I have to attend today and hopefully I will do well and weigh in around the same tomorrow.
05/19 - 147.0 was hoping I would be back to 146.xx but I’ll take it. Did eat a couple bites of a cinnamon roll and French toast casserole. Holding steady and looking to get lower before this round ends.
05/20 - 148.1 kind of surprised I am up. Did really well this whole weekend, way better than usual. I did eat more carbs on Saturday than I usually do, so maybe this is just a delayed reaction. Looking to finish this round strong before vacation this weekend. Have all meals planned for the next couple of days and should be back down by Wednesday. 2 more days!

@deepwoodslady Donna, did I tell you that your dancing has inspired me? My TV is set on the 60’s music channel so every time I turn it on I dance a little. It’s a start!
@FarmerCarla I hope your anniversary was wonderful! Your posts about Chalene remind me daily of the BB DVDs I have collecting dust. I really need to get them out!5 -

What we need to succeed is a sustainable way of eating, not a DIET we go on and off.
This is NOT A DIET. It’s a LIFESTYLE.
5/12 No scale for 3 days
5/13 125.0 Happy with this after 4 days of not great eating and two days driving.
5/14 126.0 Ate at Taco Bueno before heading to airport yesterday evening. I ate all the carbs and didn’t drink anywhere near enough water so am super pleased with this. We’ll see how it goes for the remainder of this busy (but at home) week. Art Quilts and community bingo tomorrow, quilt guild meeting Thursday night, anniversary on Friday.
5/15 126.0 Busy day today
5/16 126.5 I ate a small bag of potato chips last night. My innards sound unhappy.
5/17 127.0 I’m not worried about this. I bought a bag of salted sunflower seeds in the shell to munch during the drive to Iowa last week. It said it was 2 servings but the bag lasted a week. I suck all of the salt out of the shells - doesn’t everyone? - so this could very well be water. Just not overly concerned. Our 49th anniversary
5/18 126.0 Lovely steak dinner last night and part of a baked potato. I think that is the first white potato I’ve had since starting keto 22 months ago. It was very tasty with butter, sour cream, salt and pepper.
5/19 125.0 Carlito’s tri-tip yesterday! YUM!

Really really enjoyed my baked potato last night. Dinner with the family was lovely so I will take the extra lb and give it back tomorrow. Meal planned Sat and shopped and prepped lunches last night. Gonna be another good run I think folks.
14-May... 187.2... -1.8
Skinnytaste meals all day. Good workout. Good results. Going to keep it up today with oats and fixins for bkfst, bbq chicken salad lunch and easy garlic lime pork chops with Instant Pot refried beans for dinner with a southwest salad.
15-May... 186.8... -0.4
Wow.. went over calories by more than 1,000 yesterday and cooked salty foods, but Skinnytaste recipes and down 0.4. I think my body wanted that food. We will be really good today and will do my week 7 C25K 25 minute run. Tomorrow is Knotts Berry Farm with the hubby and lots of walking, but will be enjoying some beer, an awesome beef dip sandwich and even a bite of funnel cake.. although I will enter all that to keep myself honest. I know I will be up so to be down just a little more would be really nice. We shall see, but feeling really good no matter what. And eating like a queen. My dad was super happy with his Skinnytaste birthday meal!
16-May...185.6... -1.2
Ask and ye shall receive. I think eating more often is helping me. I also ran the full 25 minutes + some of the C25K week 7 day 1. Super proud of myself. Not as sore running outside as I was the first time. Made Gina's Skinnytaste parmesan crisps with a little bruschetta tomato mixture on top for a delicious 60 calorie snack. She is my hero. I'm gonna ride this high all week! 185!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Crazy!!!!!!!!!
17-May...190.8... +5.2
Such BS.... Calories were double what they should have been, but that is only a half lb.
18-May... 190.2... -0.6
Completely pissed.

Little by little. Not fair to tease me so with that 185 then crush me back to 190. One day did that. Can't be.

If I finish this 10 days with a gain after being up to start with I'm going to cry! No alcohol tonight and getting my butt on that treadmill. My knee is feeling the street.

@allmannerofthings thanks so much for the kind words! It is extremely tough at times! With time, I hope to find the best coping techniques so I don't have to be pushed with medication.6 -
@MarisaMSimon Sorry you had such a rough day, and I pray today is much better. It's odd you have to wait for therapy you need now. I thought you might be in Canada or another socialist country with long wait lists, but I see you're in California. I hope you soon get the help you need.
It helps me to remember Philippians 4:8 (KJV): "Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things." Another favorite is 2 Timothy 1:7: "For God has not given us a spirit of fear; but of power and of love and of a sound mind." (I've never had a great memory, so I particularly appreciate the "sound mind.")
God gave us minds to make choices--good or bad, healthy or unhealthy. The writer, Paul, chose to be content in whatever situation he found himself in, and he was in some very bad places and situations.
I pray for your health, in mind and body, and that God directs your thoughts to good choices every day.
God bless you, Marisa!7 -
ROUND 77 (Round 19 for me)
5’4 ½” 67 y/o Texas Lady
SW 178 lb.
Goal: Maintain between 135 and 140 lb. and increase muscle mass
I started Round 54 and Keto WOE on September 24, 2018.
Cumulative weight loss for Rounds 54-77 = 44 lb.
I started and finished the last round below my maintenance range. I like the keto WOE and, mostly, stick to that, but I add extra carbs when I’m under 135.
Day/Weight/Comment
05/13 132.6 I’m off to a low start, which means I can indulge a little. Strict adherence to keto paid off while I was losing weight, so I’ve earned the privilege of eating extra carbs. I’ll have rice with my Keto Gumbo this evening. It’s good without the rice, but I don’t want to lose more weight. My husband loves the Keto Gumbo, and, since he’s thin, I always add rice to his serving. Thor and I are going for a long walk today—I’ve kept him waiting for 3 weeks because of our cruise and all the rain since we returned. The sun is shining!
05/14 133.2 Thor and I enjoyed our walk yesterday, but I’m afraid I waited too long and have to get him used to it again. I checked the pavement several times yesterday to make sure it wasn’t too hot, and it seemed okay, and he didn’t act like anything was wrong. He walked some on the grass, but he seems to prefer the pavement. His feet were obviously sore last night. I’ll give him a couple of days before we walk again and keep the next couple of walks a little shorter. Yesterday, we walked a little over 4 miles and jogged part of the way. Thor ran out the door to chase squirrels this morning, but then slowed down. I hope he’s okay.
05/15 133.0 I started strength training with the Chalean Extreme program. I’ve procrastinated and let other activities take priority, but I’ve done it before and know how well it works, so I want to stick with it. I may have to get tough on myself.
05/16 134.2 I’m still below my maintenance range. I had muscle soreness this morning from lifting yesterday, which may account for the gain. We’ll see what tomorrow brings. Today was a rest day, and I lift again tomorrow. I brought home two kittens today to be company for my dog, Thor, and keep mice off my back porch (after they grow up). Thor’s a sweet dog, and he had a cat when he was a puppy. I’m convinced he’ll accept the kittens, but it may take a while for them to get used to each other.
05/17 133.8 I haven’t done my strength training today, but it will happen. Tomorrow is a grandchild’s birthday, so I have to make a trip to town before I lift, and, hopefully, I will make it to our community game night this evening. The kittens are doing well. I have the kittens set up with a litter box, food and water bowls, and their bed in a large dog crate next to my German Shepherd’s crate, with a cardboard barrier between them. They were all quiet throughout the night, so we’re off to a good start. I’m too old to trip over anything or any animal at night.
05/18 133.8 I got my strength training in yesterday evening and did a “burn intervals” workout this evening. I enjoyed the grandson’s t-ball game and spending time with the kids this afternoon. We stopped at one of my favorite Mexican food restaurants on the way home. I ate about half my food, didn’t even cut into the shrimp stuffed avocado, so I have lunch for tomorrow. My husband has leftovers, too, so I only have to cook breakfast. That works for me!
05/19 133.6 Happy Sunday! It’s been a good day for me. After church, and visiting my MIL in the nursing home, I took a nap, then finished my first week of Beach Body’s Chalean Extreme, which I’m excited to continue. My results may not be as impressive as they were the first time, when I was (only) 60, but, at 67, I know I will still be stronger and more agile. This time around, I lost the weight before I started strength training. I have plenty of loose skin, so I may not end up as tight, but I won’t let that deter me.
05/20 133.8 I thought I finished my first week of Chalean Extreme yesterday, but forgot I started on Wednesday and not on Monday. I finished the 3 heavy lifting days, and a cardio day, but had to do the “Burn It Off” and “Recharge” workouts today. I like the heavy weight days and cardio workouts better than the “Recharge” (stretching), but I did it and tomorrow’s a rest day. If it’s not raining, Thor and I will get in a walk.
Today’s my 24th anniversary of marriage to a wonderful man. He loves pasta, so I’ll fix pasta for my husband (zucchini spirals for me). I thought about making a desert, but he has cookies and his beloved coffee ice cream, so I won’t tempt myself with something I like, too. I had a first today, helping a friend deliver “Meals on Wheels” to folks. It was enjoyable, and I look forward to doing it again.
05/21 133.8 Thank you ladies who sent anniversary wishes! Sometimes, I feel like my husband and I are still honeymooning. We are blessed.
It’s another threatening weather day, so Thor doesn’t get his walk. I have singing group practice this evening, in a town with a Sam’s Club, so I’ll go early and walk the aisles before practice. I need to buy more nuts. Since all our songs are choreographed, practice can be a decent workout. It’s amazing how much energy God grants to women in their 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s who are celebrating Jesus and praising His name!

Round 77 (My first round)
Female, 4'11, age 57
Goal weight: 110
Day/Weight/Comment
05/13 149.8 Bummer - weight increased from weekend of 148.8, (drop after being almost constant since May 1) although within normal variation it seems. Seems that since I have increased calories to about 1400, but also increased number of calories burned that my weight seems to be more unstable on a day to day basis. water weight retention due to increased exercise? measurement error in exercise calories (likely)? error in food calories (likely)? Would expect a daily decrease based on calorie deficit, but clearly more complex than that as loss seems to be nonlinear.
05/14 149.8 well at least it did not go up again... seems to be a pattern of late to see a biggish drop of 1-2 pounds in a day, slight increases over a couple of days, and then another big drop. Wish I could determine why exactly and eliminate those ups! not enough data yet to correlate :-)
05/15 149.6 a 0.2 decrease !!! I'll take anything!
05/16 148.5 YEAH!!! 1.1 lb decrease and I finally made short term goal of having BMI drop below obese category!!!!!!!!! now onto goal of getting out of overweight category into healthy weight. Will see if weight stays at or below this for tomorrow. Again food diary and exercise diary predicts that I should see a drop, but I am guessing there will be a lag. Shorter term goal is to reach half-way point which is just five pounds away. So close, yet so far!
05/17 148.0 After the plateau from the 1st of May to the 12th, really excited to see another decrease!!!! Afraid it will go up tomorrow, but trying hard to keep track of food calories accurately and get back to the loss of 2 lbs/week goal. 4.5 lbs to midpoint on this journey!!!!
05/18 149.9 Well the nonlinear uptick today (which is starting to get predictable after a one day big drop) just wiped out the week's loss and BMI is back into obese category :-( Did cardio (spin class) and weights (just arms/chest) yesterday so definitely had a decent calorie burn, but did eat dinner later than normal last night. Grilled shrimp tossed with red/green cabbage and carrots, with soba noodles, mandarin oranges, cashews, mint, basil & cilantro, and a dark sesame oil/orange/rice wine vinegar dressing with a crisp rose. Lots of bulk with the cabbage. Slept in today and then went to gym for the step aerobics class (45 min with another 15 minutes weights/stretching). 15 minutes walking to cool down and then home to go out with family for lunch and to a u-pick strawberry farm. Picked 5 pounds of berries!!!! Super ripe and juicy and still warm from the sun!!!! Making overnight oats with yogurt and strawberries and will look for a sugar free ice-cream recipe, so let me know if anyone has any good suggestions!
05/19 149.1 Down again - I'll take it, especially as yesterday I was above calories for BRM! Hope this is the downward trend again :-) Today was slow day for exercise. 15 minutes on elliptical and then some core exercises. Need to update food diary, but should be blow target for the day. Will see what tomorrow brings!
05/20 148.0 Yes!!! Back to 148.0 this morning! Yesterday I kept carbs under control (although did have wine with dinner). So far so good today regarding carbs and plan a relatively low carb dinner - crab cakes and large salad with minimal bread crumbs in crab cakes, so will see if that helps. Hit the gym this morning for the flexibility/strength class and then 45 minute spin class. Knees still feel wobble after the push to increase the level up to 20!
Did not get to the weight machines so will just work that in later in the week. Positive Note - won the drawing for a t-shirt after completing a challenge at the gym the week before. Bad news I think I still need a large :-( although on the bright side, at least it is not because of the belly fat, but because I haven't changed bra size. Seem to be losing more fat on hips (yeah!)/legs/arms than on chest so far.
5/21 147.7 Good day! Another drop (happy with 0.3 lbs) for the third day in a row! Flexibility/strength training and Latin Dance class this morning. Debating whether to go back to gym tonight for pilates to work on core. Saving up carbs for most of today as this is pasta day. I am now eating half the amount of pasta of what I would formally eat, so able to work it in with current macro breakdown. By keeping some of my favorite carbs - pasta (usually once a week) and pizza on occasion, the "diet" this time round is likely to be sustainable as I get to goal weight!

05/13 - 137.2 (-2.4lbs) I don’t know if this is real or if it’s just going to shoot back up to 139. It has been back and forth the last several days. I should be in this range but will see what happens in the coming days.
05/14 - 138.7 (+1.5lbs) and there it is 😆 I’m sure it’s a bit of DOMS causing water retention. Im just going to accept the ups and downs as the new normal. At least it’s not 139s.
05/15 - 139 (+.3) can’t say I’m surprised. Felt bloated last night. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.
05/16 - 139.4 (+.4) 😂
05/17 -139.9 (+.5) DOMS? Bloated? Both? No idea. Very annoyed right now though.
05/18 - 141.1 (+1.2) I did eat late and made poor food choices. Woke up full so I’m sure that’s part of it. I know it’s not all real weight though. Just going to get back to eating very clean and not eating out at all. Hopefully things get back on track soon.
05/19 - 139 (-2.1) huge fluctuations. Water retention like crazy. Going to take a few days break from training and hyper focus on eating healthy at home.
05/20 - 137.6 (-1.4) no strength training to give my body rest and ate healthy (per usual) didn’t eat out at all.
05/21 - 136.9 (-.7) same as yesterday but today I weighed in a few hours later than normal so it could be artificially low. Will see what tomorrow brings.

It's great
5/21135 7/31 accomplished overall good day, didn't exercise but kept active. In it to win it!

Goals for round 77:
write my food EVERY DAY< ALL 10 days of this challenge and be honest and accurate about it.
Show a solid LOSS at the end of this round.
Day/Weight/Comment
05/13 187.0 (I think) in the aftermath of the mother's day/birthday week extravaganza. Looking forward to a drop tomorrow!
05/14 186.4 not bad, didn't make it to the gym bc some work things came up but stayed in my calories even though I had a beer after dinner.
05/15 185.4 Missed the gym (again!) bc of an unplanned dr visit to try to deal with chronic headaches, in which they were not very helpful. Tomorrow is another day.
05/16 185.2 Scale is looking good. I have a much easier time staying within my calories when I eat 6 small meals instead of 3 big ones. I've also been making sure to have protein with every meal. Doing well with honest and accurate tracking as well!
05/17 184.8 First time I've seen this number in a while! I think I was a bit dehydrated this am bc I didn't quite get my water in. Drinking more today and fingers crossed to stay in the 184.x tomorrow
05/18 184.8
05/19 185.8 Did a bit too much howling at the moon the night before! Hungover!
05/20 185.0 Gym and then Drs appointments, stressful day.
05/21 184.4 I feel good about this number, especially post weekend. I hope it sticks around but i had a salty dinner so we will see.

1) Grades in by Wednesday 5/15
2) Walk 30+ minutes each day
3) Active gardening or household task 30+ minutes each day
4) Tighten up my logging and stay within 100 calories of my limit
Day/Weight/Comment
05/13 – 201.0 – Not the best way to start the week or a new challenge, but I’m trying to keep it in perspective and use these ten days to reinforce good habits. Rain all day, so I concentrated on indoor tasks and planned, pre-logged, and prepped most of my meals for the work week. Didn’t want to miss my walking goal on Day 1, so I walked briskly indoors for 35 minutes, incorporating 45 flights of steps to keep my heart rate up. Logging, calories, and water: all good. Wrapping up the evening with a big stack of papers – only 3 more sets to go!
05/14 – 199.2 – Now that’s looking better! Cold and rainy again – brrr! Did 40 minutes walking around a local mall instead of heading home for my planned lunch. Grabbed something on the fly, but kept to my calorie allowance. Drank my water and got through 2 more sets of student essays. Only 1 more to go!
05/15 – 198.8 – Last day of classes! It was nice to see the sun after so much rain. Finished my last stack of papers before class and got the final grades entered before dinner. Then I rewarded my patient pup with a nice long walk in the park (75 min). Started sorting through my summer clothes, trying some on before deciding what works for now and what may (hopefully) need to be replaced by the end of the season. Under my calorie limit, plenty of water, and an invigorating walk! Best of all, the grading is behind me. Summer break starts now
05/16 – 197.6 – First day of break! 50-minute walk on the boardwalk before a laid-back lunch date with my mom and my daughter. Pre-planning the rest of my meals helped me stay on track today.
05/17 – 197.0 – Surprised to see another drop, but I had a gain last round despite being pretty good. Skipped the walk because my feet were hurting and spent the morning shopping online for athletic shoes and sandals with good arch support. Gorgeous day, but energy and motivation were low. Sushi dinner and not enough water. Won’t be surprised to see a bounce back up this weekend, but I'm trying to focus on the trend rather than the day-to-day fluctuations.
05/18 – 197.0 – Lovely day! Did a bit of light gardening and made a trip to the nursery for some pond plants and annuals for the deck boxes. Hoping to finish those on Monday if it doesn’t rain. Walked for an hour before dinner, enjoying one of the narrow woodland trails before it’s overgrown. Skipped the wine and stayed under my calorie limit to bank a little for a dinner out tomorrow. Hope it works!
05/19 – 197.0 – Holding steady. Made an early start in the garden this morning and finished the new perennial bed at the end of the driveway. Then down to the beach for a long walk and a calorie splurge lunch. Over on calories and way over on sodium, so we’ll see what tomorrow brings.
05/20 – 197.4 – Little bump. Planned to get back on track today, but an extended power outage and a late meeting upended my lunch and dinner plans. Eating both meals out put me a little over on calories (but still at a deficit) and a lot over on sodium. Heat spiked today. Got some of the pots filled but still have the bulk of the container planting to do. Met my step goal but didn’t get to the park for a walk. Two more days to go – hoping to make them good ones!
05/21 – 197.6 – Up again, but just a bit, so I’m pleased. I think I’m finally getting used to the ups and downs of the daily weigh-ins. Today I got back on track with calories, sodium and water. Busy day with lots of errands, but an afternoon of power shopping helped me meet my step goal without my usual walk. Still haven’t finished the deck boxes, but at least I got some laundry done. Final weigh in tomorrow!

SW this round (5/12): 144.2
05/13 145 Up 0.8 from yesterday, but not too bad considering it was Mother's Day!
05/14 144.2 Started my gradual bumping up of carbs yesterday (from 20 to 25 net for this round). I totally expected to be up today because extra carbs are accompanied by extra water, plus, I didn't hydrate well yesterday, so this is a nice surprise.
05/15 144.2 Hmmm, again? Not sure why, but it's not a problem. A week left to try to reach my GW for this challenge. 17 days in, I think I'm more fatigued on keto...paying attention to this...
05/16 145 I think this is going to be round of maintaining, not losing. It's okay. I dropped some solid pounds and inches over the last two rounds, so I'm happy with my overall progress! Not expecting any more big whooshes for a while.
05/17 144 Yep. As predicted. Up, down, up.
05/18 144 Lol. Good thing I had low expectations for this round!
05/19 144 At least it's not going up?
05/20 142.8 Hey, finally moved down! I'm still expecting this to be a maintenance round, but we'll see.
05/21 142.8 Feeling better about this but nervous about tomorrow. Nothing in this round has made sense to me!
