    114.93/90 miles completed

    Today's run was 10.25 miles which puts me at 114.93 for June. I kind of wish I had run another .07 miles, but oh well. It was a good run. I wanted to get up early, but we celebrated my Mom's 75th birthday yesterday at my sister's and even though I didn't get home all that late, we video chatted with our son in Japan when we got home and ended up going to bed pretty late. So instead of heading out around 6:30 I was getting up around that time and didn't get out until after 7. It was warm, but not too brutal. It was 71F and the humidity was only 85% and dew point 65 so it could have been a lot worse weather wise. I didn't see a lot of critters, but I did see one cottontail and a really pretty pair of cardinals. I also saw some pretty horses. One kind of startled me because he was right next to the fence and I was kind of lost in thought and as I passed a tree he was just right there. I was also startled by a couple of dogs. I didn't even see them. They were sitting in the shade in their yard and they just came walking (not running or barking) toward me. I would have turned a block sooner if I had noticed them, but I did not see them until they were right beside me. I just kind of started and said "go away" and they both turned around and went back to their yard. I guess they were pretty well behaved dogs even though they probably were not supposed to be in the front yard.

    For some reason my run didn't upload to Strava. I did some yoga stretching later and it uploaded. Has anyone ever had that happen, and does anyone know how to upload the run? It shouldn't really matter, but it annoys me to no end.

    Congrats @PastorVincent on your finish and to Kristi on her run.

    Congrats on your race and AG finish @Tramboman!

    @PastorVincent great finish in adverse conditions! And congrats to Kristi for making it as far as she did! I love the award thingies.

    @Tramboman Congrats on the AG finish!

    @shanaber happy birthday Hobbes the Visla! What a good doggie sitting there not even looking at his treat.

    @MobyCarp I read your race report out loud to my husband and we both got a kick out of it. We kept getting hopelessly lost when we were trying to practice on the trails for our winter trail series, but at least on the day of, everything was well marked with plenty of volunteers stationed at confusing switchovers. At least you have the satisfaction of knowing you ran well... in something generally akin to the right direction...

    @PastorVincent That mud is just gross. It reminds me of what we have at the edge of the cow ponds on the farm. Yuck! You are amazing for finishing! I can't imagine doing that for 7 hours! I am curious as to what the criteria was for pulling people from the race.

    @Tramboman Yeah! Congratulations!

    @NiigataA Oh no! Hope it isn't too sore this morning.

    @shanaber Great run! Happy Birthday to Hobbes!

    @katharmonic Sounds like a brutally hot and humid run. Glad you enjoyed Chicago. O'Hare is the worst!

    @noblsheep @quilteryoyo @rheddmobile @katharmonic @kgirlhat thanks!

    @quilteryoyo some people were clearly pulled because although they wanted to continue it was obvious they could not. Mrs. PastorVincent (aka Kristi) was pulled because she missed the cut off on her second loop. They pulled people that did not complete the second loop in time so that no one would be running after sunset in the deep woods.

    @MobyCarp Ugh, I have taken wrong turns at races before. That sucks, but I was never in any danger of winning, that would just make it worse.

    @PastorVincent I cannot get my brain around that race, let alone think what to say except you survived it in one piece and that in itself sounds like a huge achievement!

    @shanaber Love that Hobbes got a proper birthday celebration! He’s had a rough year and sure deserves a day to himself.

    6 mi short. . . running wise (26 of 33). Did more hiking, though (34 mi). I think next month 45 is a reasonable goal (substitute 15 mi of running for 30 mi of hiking.)

    Not saying that I fell behind on keeping up with everyone but

    Spent 7 days out of town for work - was planned for 2 days and spent 7 - you do the math on suitcase/clothing management. Which explains the gap from the 15th to the 22th. It did allow my grumpy calf to come back to normal.

    06/04 2.2 km - 2.20km - 137.80km - YTD 391.11km
    06/05 6.0 km - 8.20km - 131.80km - YTD 397.11km

    36 km short of goal for the month.

    Onward to July. Once I find the link for the July Challenge.

    Which I started with a 14 km Canada Day run up Judah Hill to the viewpoint.

    @juliet3455 - you did get behind!
    wait... there is a Calvin and Hobbes forum group? How did I not know this!?!

    @MegaMooseEsq - great job on your 5K and listening to your body. It might not have been a PR but your finish time was great considering you are coming back from injuries!

    This. Seriously. One of the major differences between runners who are successful long term and those that are not is that they learn to listen to their own bodies.
