42 (I am life, the universe and everything) and I did my morning BodyPump class even though I'm still recovering from a cold and feeling rubbish.
I'm also feeling that I may regret this decision.3 -
I'm 47 and after a few years away I am starting again at changing my life to a healthier , lighter and fitter one for my daughter , who at only 5 needs her daddy around for a long time yet .
Wanted to say Hi and let any one know they can add me as a friend !!3 -
I reached 48 just a few weeks ago , and truthfully, I feel as I have very little in common with my peers of relative age.
When I look at the kids I went to school with and on the off chance I bump into one of them, they look sooooo old. And they move like it too, or have so many health problems because of diet or lack of exercise. My younger brother by three years is such a case.
We have all the tools one needs to stay healthy and strong. For example, in my local area I can count 10 gyms ranging from CrossFit, to personal trainer, globo gyms, to boot camps. Not to mention other fitness experiences like indoor climbing, dance, or walking clubs.
We are saturated in fitness. Yet many choose to become weak and have a miserable quality of life.
That I don’t understand and that is why I have so little in common with people my age.6 -
Agree. I'm 57 and all my friends, some even 20 years younger than me, don't do anything physical, drink beer and watch tv is all they do. I may not be in the best shape in the world, but I am trying, I stay very active skating, going to the gym, hiking. My wife is just like most, she has no interest in doing anything physical, granted she has a lot of health problems, but I think getting up and moving would certainly help her.2

Im very similar to you. Also 57 and trying(and succeeding😁) little by little to get in great shape. I mountain bike, do strength training, hike, and walk a couple times weekly with my wife.
I see so many people in their late 50's and early 60's that are such trainwrecks physically and they keep going further downhill. Many times it seems they just dont care to put in any effort to help themselves.
I want to go in the opposite direction and continue to get better. Being a fit Senior is wayyyyy better than the alternative.4 -

Glutes done last night!!! With a little help from my friend Jameson...though to be fair it was the terribly stressful day at work that made me want to cuddle up with a friend more so than the workout, the workout actually helped.
I was getting all experimental in the kitchen...boneless skinless chicken breast marinated in chardonnay with sage and garlic, then grilled with hickory smoke...just for the record, it was amazing!!!4 -
I will reach 65 in a couple of weeks. It was great reading all your posts today. It's good to know that I'm not the only seasoned citizen who is trying to improve their health and quality of life. Y'all are very inspirational!1

Legs & Shoulders @ the gym. Doc said I can do overhead press, as long as I’m not picking anything up off the floor...so I machined it today. No stress on my injury!1

Good job, gam3rguy. Welcome back to the exercise-grind.
I lifted yesterday. First time in a week, so I am sore today! Today I am working on my 10,000 steps a day.2 -

I didn't do any formal workouts over the weekend...but I did help someone move...5 hours on Friday, and about 6 on Sunday...I have a desk job, I do not normally do manual labor...I was still bouncing up the stairs at the end of the moving while, sadly, watching the folks half my age huffing and puffing to just walk up the stairs...I had no issues carrying and hauling and bending and packing...while many of the younger folks required long breaks after carrying a box down the stairs and to the trucks...really, it was eye opening, if a bit sad, and it made me feel really good about where I am in life!!!1

Surgery is done. My mom won’t take me home. Lol! Says I gotta stay here at least tonight. Getting fed!! And I just say Milano cookies. She just went to fill my scrip and get my dog. She’s bringing my Switch back too. May or may not play tonight.

Switched from runkeeper to Nike run club this past week. So far really good and this morning I achieved my fasted 1k run.3

I am glad your surgery is over, gam3rguy. Recovery is the right side of "surgery" to be on.
I am a cardio queen this week....did a cardio class on Monday, walked 6.5 km yesterday and did an advanced step-cardio class, today.
Now, I really do need to hit the weights because I am trying to lose FAT this summer and I don't want to be reducing my precious muscles!1 -

I spent 3 days moving people this past week...so I'm laying off the weights in favor of cardio so my carpal tunnel can heal. I will be back at the weights in August!!!1

Hey kids, it's been a long time since I popped in. Hope all is well. Gam3rguy, I know you are ready to start working out again. I wish you a speedy recovery. Beeps how are you doing? To catch you up, I left my gym and started powerlifting in January. I love it. Wish I had the courage to do it sooner. Have a great night everyone.4
-
Happy Monday kids, hope all is well. I had deadlifts and bench both yesterday and today. Finally found a local company who could fit me for knee sleeves. Have a great day kids.2

Hi caramel - how come you had to leave your gym to start powerlifting? ...I want details!
I hiked 7.5 km on Saturday, 12 km on Sunday, and kind of leisurely walked 7 km yesterday. And, I did not late-night snack, but I was certainly indulging in some craft beer and ciders this past weekend.
HAPPY CANADA DAY!
Tomorrow, I will try and lift. (I did lift on Friday, so it hasn't been THAT long...)1 -
Hi I'm 39 but I wanna hang with the big kids1
-
Did half my weights last night...short on time because I had to go pick up dinner for the birthday boy...one more year then he's all grown up!!!1

Welcome back @caramelgyrlk ! You continue to inspire!
It has been one hellova month. When my son was diagnosed with his brain tumor (May 29th), the doctors, CT and MRI reports indicated it was probably a malignant tumor. In fact his surgeon told him he was 95% certain it "was not benign". Needless to say, my son had 3 weeks to prepare his wife and family for a life without him. It was heartbreaking.
All we, and anyone else could do was pray. Pray that the reports and the doctors were wrong. I am SO HAPPY to report that as soon as the doctor opened him up, he was surprised to see a benign tumor! And he was able to get it all, which again, he initially thought he would not be able to because it had grown tentacles in between the two lobes. When the pathology confirmed that it was benign, the surgeon apologized for the initial diagnosis. But, I do get it - they have to prepare them for the worst. And it was.
Anyway, he is doing so well. We truly believe it was the power of prayer that saved him, so thank you to all that offered prayers, positive thoughts and energy.
This past weekend, I hosted our first family reunion. It was a lot of fun, but also a ton of work! Each night I fell into bed, exhausted. So worth it though - as everyone got to catch up and visit. We are literally spread across the country - from Vancouver Island to New Brunswick.
Need to get back on track now - my summer is calming down, so should have more "me time".5 -
I am so happy to read the GREAT news about your son, sdereski!!
How wonderful and it is a true reminder that every day is a "gift".
I hope the rest of your summer provides rest, rejuvenation and (more) relief!1 -
I did get my weight-lifting in, today. A full body workout and I did it in 55 minutes + 15 minute stretch. BOOM.2
