Even one day, you will also no longer look for size LARGE--just mediums and even smalls will be your target size you'll look for. This is THE BEST feeling/knowledge ever. It WILL happen to/for you if you so desire--it's just going to take time.
I'm starting to run into this. I've been still shopping larges at Goodwill because brands all fit differently, and find it's now become an exercise in disappointment, haha. We wouldn't get the fancy brands that tend to size way small in our town, so they're pretty much all too large.
Shopping at Goodwill is so WISE, you'll find really excellent stuff at 1/2 or way less than the original price too. Also, it's smart to shop there because as you're getting down to size, you don't want to invest in certain sizes as even though the scale may not be moving as much as you'd like, the inches will be decreasing like crazy (at least it did for me). You don't want to be spending lots of money on sizes that will be too small sooner or later.
I went from a size 22w to now size 8's (which are starting get too big in the waist for me--even though my stomach area still needs a lot of work--it's weird, but I don't want to rush anything, slow and steady has won the race thus far with no loose skin, so I will continue to wait for my flat(ter) stomach to arrive. I made the mistake of buying too much stuff as I got to a size 16w and 14w only to drop down to a size 12 and 10 actually faster than I'd imagine. So when I got to sizes 12 and 10 I only purchased a few things and now that I'm a size 8. I'm glad I didn't buy a lot of 12's and 10's.
I'm starting to size out of some of my transitional clothes too! The difference between a size 8 and 10 is also smaller than the measurement difference between a 16 and an 18, so the transition continues to speed up. I remember the first time I lost weight, I actually skipped size 8 and went from 10 to 6 because I waited a while before shopping again.
I also like thrift shopping because it gets me out of my comfort zone with style. I'm more willing to try something on just to see and have found some gems and styles I didn't realize I'd like.
Honey, that's another HUGE thing no one tells you...you WILL EXPERIMENT and even CHANGE your style!!! My style has really changed from when I was obese and overweight. I, like you, are now taking a lot of chances with colors, styles and looks and it's so much FUN and freeing to rock all kinds of new looks and feel GOOD about myself as I rock these new looks/styles. My entire look has changed, including wearing belts, HEADBANDS and all kinds of fun and lovely jewelry and even shoes and everything in my style has changed and I LOVE IT!
I see MANY obese and overweight woman who look tremendous, their styles are soooo CUTE and goodlooking...unfortunately, that was never the case for me when I was obese and overweight. I used to have the WORSE time finding styles and colors that looked good on me. Now that I'm slim and trim EVERYTHING looks and feels good on me and again, that's a HUGE wonderful thing about getting down to size. As always though, it will take TIME to get down to size--take your time and do it right and righteously and BOOM, you'll be so GLAD you did.10 -
Shopping becomes so difficult. I’m used to grabbing bigger sizes because I always wore oversized clothes when I was larger. Now I can’t ever find clothes small enough. I’m ftm trans so I have a petite frame but wear mostly men’s clothes. I’ve only found one store than sells pants small enough for me. Shirts are usually fine but button ups always fit baggy. I’ve had to shop in the kids section a few times. It’s not the greatest16

My husband is 5'10 and can rarely find clothes small enough for his ~30" waist (he is more likely to fit into a 28 than a 32). His favorite pants aren't even made in his size anymore. Everything at Costco the other day was clearly labeled as 32 and up, don't bother looking for smaller. I can't imagine what it is like for someone with his frame, but shorter!!
My thing for this week is that my belly is no longer big enough to support the laptop in my favorite position in bed.

My cat's normal kneading spot (my collar area) has become a no-go zone because there isn't enough fat there anymore, so she's moved to my stomach lol.2 -

Mine seem to gravitate toward the boob area. Also less there than used to be0 -
That you have this artery in your abdomen and when your cat presses her little ankle into you just so, you can feel it throb. Even better, when you're asleep, your dreams then turn into weird and horrifying things where your insides are writhing.
The cat is going to need some sleep adjustment. XD
I never knew this. But now that I know there's an artery there, I can feel it from my sternum down. I am super weirded out by this!!1 -
I feel like I agree with like 90% of the ones posted here, but I've got a couple more
- It takes a long time for your body shape to change. Even though I've lost 35lb and 6 inches off my waist, since I feel like I've just "shrunk" and not restructured much yet, it's a lot less noticeable unless you compare before/after pictures.
- I feel WAY more comfortable saying I'm hungry. It's like I'm no longer the fat girl obviously asking for food, lol.
- Some days I barely meet the minimum calorie goal, but others I'm ravenous all day and it's a struggle.
- My self-image fluctuates way more than my weight does. Some days I feel like I'm the new hot girl on the block and I'm proud, but others I feel like I haven't lost a single pound.
- My male friends (even the ones in relationships) have started treating me better. Not that they weren't nice before, but they're extra considerate now. It's actually kind of discouraging at times.
- I feel SO much more comfortable not looking my best. I used to have to look cute and have my hair/makeup done all the time, but now I'm confident in an old t-shirt. I think my mentality used to be, "since I'm fat, I have to prove that I actually do care about my appearance."35 -

Man, you hit the nail on the head with these three. The one about being unashamed about being hungry especially. I was starting to get into "lazy" mod with my dress, but then I started having acne problems and it made me feel like I needed to be "made up" to feel comfortable again.

I ran across this on reddit and it really resonated with me:
"No one sees thru your eyes, but here’s a thought. No one else will look at you and only see your arms. No one will only see your tummy. No one will only see your right ring finger, your foot or your calf. But that’s what you’re doing to yourself. You are not your parts - you’re the totality of all the odd bits that make up who you are. What you think is “wrong” is just uniquely you, and your loved ones already accept it because its who they see."
I forget sometimes that people don't hyperfocus like I do. They don't look at body parts, they just look at the person and see them as a whole. Most people don't even pay attention enough to see past generally recognizable features, which is almost always going to be the face.13 -
And when you think about it, most of those people who are too busy to look at you or notice your flaws, are probably thinking about their own. It's a vicious cycle!5

Honestly I hadn't even noticed I was being more vocal about food until my close friend (who is in shape and super proud of me for getting there) pointed out that I back her up more often when we suggest the group get food. She asked something like, "Have you gotten hungrier more with working out?" and I was like, "No, I can just ask for food now that I'm not the hungry fatty." and we had a good laugh3 -

See, I’m the opposite of this. When I was fat, I didn’t even own makeup except for foundation, because no matter what I did I just looked terrible anyway, and my goal in clothes was to find something that didn’t make me look like a freak. Now I love doing my makeup and buying clothes, and I figure it’s just as easy to put on a cute outfit as an ugly one.
On the other hand, my hair has been terrible since I lost weight. I had a lot of hair loss and my hair came back curly, which is weird. High school me during the 80s would have loved curly hair, but today it’s not a thing! Just my luck.10 -

That’s crazy! I too wanted curly hair in high school (my dad’s went from straight to curly inHS, so I held out hope but it never happened). Instead, my hair got wavy after baby3, then definitely curly after baby 4 (obviously pregnancy/postpartum hair loss, though accompanied by weight loss for me), so I get the adult you thinking, “really? I need to relearn hair now??”3 -
I've said this before on this thread, but will say it again. One day, YOU who are reading and getting inspiration and hope from reading this thread (and other threads on "Success Stories Thread"), YOU will be posting a success story too and/or victory at last post too. It took me almost 6.5-7 years to finally post a success story(ies). I'm cheering YOU who are reading this thread on that it won't take you as long as it took me (but maybe it will...maybe it will take you LONGER than it took me, but YOU WILL SUCCEED in reaching your goals for sure--in time), but that you will take your time and do it right and righteously (not giving in to "HURRY or gimmicks and stuff like I did for so many years)--I'm cheering you on that you will ALWAYS remember that haste makes waste and it took you some (perhaps a lot of ) time to get where you are and it's going to take some time for you to get down to size too and before you'll know it, as you take your ever loving time-- BOOM...you WILL be posting your success story here (or on some other thread on the Success Stories too)...I promise! Kohls has some good options online for sizes that are smaller or larger.3 -
It doesn't make you an athlete - running, still tough!8

My boobs shrunk! How vain is it for me to brag I had to buy all new bras!..lol
It's not vain. I have the same problem. I go from 38 B to a 36 A each time I've lost a significant amount of weight. Recently I've had to buy new bras because I've gained weight. It's rough discovering that you will have to spend a large amount of money replacing all those bras.1 -
I nearly offered a coworker my jacket because she was cold (people like it way to cold in the office so I have a safety jacket), but then I realized it would be much too small for her. I've never run into this before, usually it's always too big so I can freely offer my jacket to others.22

This is exceptionally relieving and also very true. I need to remember this. It's so easy for me to get focused on one part - and it's often a part of my body that no one but my boyfriend and doctors will see! The world is not judging me on my wrinkled skin or poofy belly. They can't even see that.
I'm the one judging me for it.
This is really fantastic advice.4 -

Wow!
That is why mine hasn't been resized yet. I think it's safe to resize it now, but I kept putting it off because I don't want to have it done multiple times (I already had to resize it larger once )2 -
For me its how much easier it is to get cold. Ive always loved the heat, even as a kid. When I run leaner, I get chilled quite easily! We keep a light hoodie for me and a big scarf for her. I love seeing my wife wearing scarves. Specially when we are out on the water. Such a retro look!10
