I have lost 90 lbs with keto in 18 months; currently I've been stalled for about 8 months and can't seem to get the scale moving again. HOWEVER, I have also reversed my T2 diabetes and have been able to stop all 3 of my meds; I've normalized my blood pressure and have been able to stop meds; I've lowered my cholesterol. I've CURED my decades long IBS/recurrent diverticulitis problems. I have ZERO inflammation in my body anymore and haven't been sick (not even a cold) for 2 years. I'd say keto is very, very good.
You can't cure diverticulitis. You can have remission of symptoms but it can still flare at any point. The only way to eliminate diverticulitis is a colon resection.
Way to go to minimise the achievement !8 -

It's not minimizing anything. If you, or your family, has actually gone through bouts of diverticulitis or understands the disease, you would know that what was said is incorrect.
My wife was hospitalized countless times and had the surgery. No amount of Keto would eliminate that possibility.16 -
Any "diet" = bad. Long term healthier life style = good.1

I understand and I agree. My husband suffered several years with diverticulitis before his death. There was no diet that helped on a continual basis. Too much fiber...not enough fiber...too much fat...not enough fat...too much meat...not enough meat. There was always a balancing act. No matter what he ate he still suffered. He too was hospitalized several times and was scheduled for surgery a week after his death. Believe me...if there had of been a miracle cure by diet alone we would have done it as I am sure that you and your wife would. No one wants to go through a colostomy.8 -

If you research diets for diverticulitis you will see that even the medical profession can not come up with any one diet. Some will say fiber others will say no fiber. It is a "kitten" shoot as to what works. Most often none of it works. Any food can collect in a pouch of your colon and cause unbearable pain. With my husband no matter what he ate it ran straight through him. No one is minimizing anyone's achievement. IMO saying that to just eat keto and you will be cured is minimizing what these people go through.
I don't mean to be argumentative but I watched my husband suffer for a long time with this disease. No only did he suffer but so did our family...my son only remembers his dad being in pain.12 -

Hate to break it to you, but the US military has been evaluating diets for decades. They are always looking to improve performance.8 -

Cool! After all of these decades it sounds like Keto human trials are going well performance wise and the keto anti obesity side effect is just a bonus for fitness to be ready to go to war.18 -

The bold is non sense.
Trials doesn't mean it can or will be implemented. There are ethical and legal issues with trying to force a diet on solders. And while early indications suggest there may be a benefit for divers, how it effects other solders hasn't been explored. Considering the performance impacts shown in many other areas of fitness, it's unlikely that it will be recommended across the board.15 -

Does this surprise you? He claims a lot of things with little to no evidence to back up those claims.6 -

You may be waiting a long time for clarity on that one.1 -

My bad. I should have typed perhaps Navy Seal types.3 -
@GaleHawkins any time you want to explain the "keto anti obesity side effect" I am ready. Please don't hide from me and or ignore me. IMO that is an extremely irresponsible claim to throw out there. Explain yourself...5 -

That is the primary driver behind the studies, your own link says so. There is nothing anywhere that states the diet is being evaluated for *All troops. That would be ridiculous and self defeating.
That said, as an ex member of our armed services with multi branch service I can tell you the military is tasked with evaluating a mind numbing number of diets/tactics/equipment/strategies across an extremely wide range of environments and situations.
Key word: Evaluate. Evaluate =/= Implement

Quoted for emphasis. I would like to see that....evidence as well.2
