Haven't heard from you in awhile and I miss it! Any updates you want to share?
Me - my weight has been up-down-up-down but only by a little bit (I weigh daily for motivation). I'm focusing on the last down because it's a new number! Yeah! Only 3 more pounds to my next mini-goal! Still logging faithfully.
Good evening my friends.
@ohbeautifulqueen Congrats on your new low weight. Keep going toward your next mini goal.
I am still going up and down the same few lbs. I know it is because I am not smoking and I am eating more. My lowest recorded weight was 183 before quitting. I am now wobbling between187 and189 188.2 today. This is ok for the time being I expected to gain a bit when quitting the smokes.
The last time I quit smoking I totally lost it and shot back up from 185 to 221 Then my mum nearly died and I went back on the cigarettes, with smoking and the stress I lost the weight but now need to stop smoking again.
I think a lot of the weight gain is my body just recovering from all the poison and toxins I have inhaled over the years, obviously if you are not poisoning yourself your body can start repairs so maybe water weight is part of the gains. This may be bull crap but it feels like it might be true.
On the up side though. My lungs feel so much better, I stormed up a hill this morning that would have had me stopping for a breather part way up before. So definite improvment in lung capacity my doctor is pleased with me.
All in all things are going ok for me.

Hi, everyone. I'm Steve. 65 years on this rock. Have lost about 50 pounds and maintained that for 18 months. Working on slowly dropping the last 20. Feel free to add me. Glad to share support and encouragement.
Here's a link to an over 50 group. You will find some like-minded folks there as well.

Hi Steve
Congratulations on your loss. Sounds like you have a good handle on this weight loss thing.0 -

Thank you for the kind words. Not sure about that handle, though. I think that I will probably be logging food as long as I am eating.1 -
Great thread. 65 here. Probably within 5lbs or so of my goal weight. I do OK with the eating thing (mostly). I'd like to establish a regular workout routine. I do OK with the aerobic exercise. I want to work on my core.0

Yup me too. That IS the handle

Almost 65. Hit first goal weight, not sure how much more I will loose. Working on activity level, mild weights and toning. Makes a huge difference.4

Hi everyone. I will be 65 shortly and have been a on again off again member of MFP for years. Every time I stop logging I slowly start gaining it back. I am 6.4 pounds away from goal and down a little over 60 pounds this go around. I also go to WW because there is something about weighing in front of people that is helping me right now since this last few pounds don't seem to want to budge. I hit the gym about 3 to 4 times a week and do cardio and strength training, I love lifting weights and I also bike ride. I think about how I was last year compared to this year and it is the best thing I have done for myself in a long time.

Amazing transformation your hard work certainly paying off. You look like a different person.
Below is the picture that kicked of my decision to make some lasting changes.
This is me at present. Give or take 5lbs.

Hello everyone, I love the before/after pictures. I'm a newbie myself in this group & want to welcome the other newbies. I've been going to the gym classes 4 days/week during the week. I love the step plus class because the plus is lifting weights, I love weights. Got off work early today & I'm rarely bored (I'm an introvert) but I bored today. It's too hot to do anything, including doing anything inside the house- It's 108 today, ugh! My gym is literally 3 minutes away & has a nice pool & am trying to talk myself into going but this heat wave has me worn out so may just play some game or read. Need to give 2 of my dogs a bath too0

I'm almost ashamed to post. I have a family of raccoons I feed every night around 11:00. Last night I was making them PB sandwiches, and the smell was driving me crazy, as I LOVE peanut butter. Just gave the knife a lick, after I finished spreading it on the bread. Then it was,: "Well, 1 tbs. won't hurt.". Next thing you know, more than a quarter of the jar was gone. Not only did I mess up my IF for today, but I probably scoffed down my carb and fat quotas for the rest of the year. However, that was yesterday and today is today. So, I'll just start again.8

@BlancheandSmooshyface , I do that with potato chips, lol. I'm glad every day is a new day1

I think you need to find something else to feed those little bandits. Something you don't like the smell of would probably help.

The peanut butter thing really caught my eye. I just finished eating a tablespoon of it and then I checked the carb count... ouch. Fortunately I'm at work and only had a tablespoon available or I for sure would have eaten more. I'm maintaining but since I just got back from holiday I have one more holiday pound to lose so today is probably not going to be too helpful.2

Glad to announce the I have undone the 4 pound damage I did with my late night PB splurge. Think raccoons can be trained to make their own sandwiches if I just put the bread and PB outside?5

They’ll probably start demanding jelly.

That is good news well done.
I think with their little hands you could teach them to do anything.
We don't have raccoons in the UK. I do have badgers who come into the garden, they like peanuts (unsalted of course)

I've been doing good on my calories lately...I do the opposite of stress eating, I lose my appetite. One of my dogs, Eleanor the shepherd has been getting worse with her "allergies" Last Friday she was so congested she couldn't breathe out of her nose & her nose was dripping. It got worse fast, she kept swallowing her saliva. every day a little worse so took her to vet. I went as a walk in & they had a lot of walk ins yesterday so had to wait 3hrs but I didn't care. Vet was wonderful. Turns out she has pneumonia. She still wants to give love & wag her tail but she's too miserable .They gave me very strong antibiotics. She was bad off last night. I kept praying so much for her & sitting with her, talking to her. I love her so much. I still miss my beloved Grizzly dog I lost in January too.Vet said if she's not 50% better by thursday to go get her a chest x=ray, They don't have their x-ray up & running there yet. It was so hard to go to sleep last nigh. I was afraid I'd find her past away this morning & my heart would be crushed but she's BETTER & she's not gasping for air!!! I'm assuming she'll continue to get better. I'm SO grateful to God for sparing me the heartache of losing another beloved dog, especially one I've not had for very long. She's such a great dog. Super ppl friendly & is friendly with ALL dogs (we go to dog park) even the ones that snap at her4

Did a hard workout yesterday morning. Then we watched my granddaughter last night so Mom and Dad could have a date night. That meant pizza for dinner that I hadn't planned on. I was super hungry and I ate too much pizza and (almost) everything else in sight. I logged it all - 3000 calories worth. Lesson learned - make a better plan next time. HAHA!3
-
You went right back to following your diet the next day though and that's what counts, so good for you!1
-
@Evamutt So sorry your dog is ill, it is heartrending when think you might lose one of them. Glad to hear that pooch is now on the mend.
@alteredsteve175 Ahhhh pizza. If I am going to have pizza I try to make it a thin crispy base that reduces the damage a bit. No reason to go without but yes you do need to plan a bit when with the grandkids. But I bet you and the kids had a great evening. Back on the wagon and full steam ahead.1 -
Hello everyone, been busy watching 3 of our grandkids who live next door for last 2 days while mom went out of town to spend overnight with her good friend. My husband is so good with them, he especially loves the 2yr old, the other 2 are 9 & 11. I don't like taking care of them at all, I know , I'm a bad grandma . My husband got a shot at dr's so it made him drowsy so I was with them most of the day & slept over...didn't really get sleep & they were up at 6:30. Our daughter got home by 1 today so that was good. I hated to be away from my dogs, we have 6. I don't really have a problem eating much of their food. They do have snacks but I don't care for them. My grand son's favorite snack is crunchy seaweed, Today was better because my grand daughter slept over her friends so it was a lot quieter. We took the boys grocery shopping with us. I'm making chicken salad for our church group that meets once a month & I barely ate anything so far & not hungry(stress) I have been with mfp since 2016, I'm just newer to this group. I'm finally able to not snack too much at night after quitting smoking in March, so I recently lost 1 pound, yay. I twisted my leg at Zumba last monday so all I did was swim & went for bike ride this morning. I'm glad to start getting my routine back to normal & will be glader when I hear from vet to find out when I know to take Eleanor out again. I feel bad for my other 5 dogs because I can't really take them out without her. She's SO attached to us, it would stress her out if I did that3

oh dear, I just saw this group is under getting started, can I still be here? I am restarting the weight I gained. I love this group-1

I think this is just where the thread began and anyone can join at anytime!0

So glad to hear Eleanor is on the mend. My dogs send wet licks. ❤2

I am 61 years old. I weight 256 lbs and I am 5'4". I am finding it very hard to lose weight these days. My doctor says I am healthy but if I don't lose weight that will change. I am seriously thinking of having the gastric sleeve. I just wish I could lose the weight and keep it off. I have struggled with my weight most of my adult life, I have done my share of yo yo dieting. I love sweets, bread, rice, etc. I am not very active. I have started again this week. I am going to start walking. I have logged for the last 2 days!4

This will sound probably stupid, but for within your 1500 calories, 30 carbs that’s quite low isn’t it. Do you consume a good amount of protein, that’s what the Atkins diet is isn’t it?
I’ve just been playing around with my meals last couple of days as I’m not officially weighing in until Monday, to see where I can cut back on the calories. My water allowance is ok, I do drink over 8 glasses a day of water.
Exercise is not good, have recently been diagnosed with Osteoarthritis, not good lots of pain, but trying to do 5000 steps a day, not a lot but I hope to improve on it.
Do you weigh each week?
Have a good weekend, and good luck over the next week on plan.
Diane x
Not sure why you think Exercise is not good because you have been diagnosed with Osteoarthritis. I will be 66 this December. I have Osteoarthritis in both my knees plus meniscus tear on the right knee since last 3 years. Walking is more painful for me so avoid long walks but do all sorts of other exercises like swimming, elliptical, rowing, stationary bike plus strength training and yoga etc., Exercise is helping me tremendously. The pain is more intense if I stop exercise for a week or so like when I am on vacation. With the knee pain, it is important to strength different muscles in our legs. Helps to recover better after knee replacement also. Just my 2 cents. Take care.2 -
dlwin793, before you decide on having invasive surgery to lose weight, please give Keto, low carb, or Carnivore a try. I have been confined to bed and wheelchair since 1990 and I finally became disgusted with how much weight I had gained. Even doctors were recommending I consider weight loss surgery. When I came back here in April I was the same weight you are now (also the same height) and started off following Keto, before switching over to high protein and/or carnivore. Since doing so I have lost 44 pounds. Surgery is so drastic (and expensive, even with insurance) so consider all your other options first. We all know how hard it is but we're all here for support and encouragement.

Yesterday I did 30 mins on the rower and 30 mins on the treadmill, just gentle stuff nothing to drastic. This morning I went for an hours bike ride. Again nothing too strenuous it was all on the flat.
I feel like maybe I am starting to get back on track. Watching my logging/calorie intake and doing a bit more deliberate excercise should help me to start losing again.
Hope all you lovely people are having a good day as well.
