Monday -- I took today off work!! WooHoo!! I would so much like to go to a 4-day week but still be paid what I am. The weekend is much, much better when there's 3 days instead of just 2.
Unfortunately, it'll be another 3 weeks, at least before I get another long weekend. Oh well ... that's life these days. Exhausting.
Meanwhile today has been lovely.
Another much-needed sleep in.
A little shopping trip to pick up some stuff my husband is working on, another bamboo plant which will join 3 others and act as a screen between us and the neighbours behind us once they start growing up this summer, and a new backpack for me ... among other things.
Then I listened to the lecture I skipped last week. I'm almost thinking that's the way to do it. Skip the actual lectures and just listen to them later. It was much shorter than going to the lecture and I did my nails. Multitasking! However, it's a little bit of a risk ... in another class I skipped a lecture and that was the one they didn't record. Oops!
I also got enrolled in my spring/summer course. This one is a bit different. It is run by the Australian Maritime College within the College of Sciences and Engineering and it's entirely online. I've been saying for years that the IT College should go entirely online ... after all, we're IT!! So I'll get my wish with one class in another college.
And then it was time to hop on the bicycle to Zwift! My husband and I rode for half an hour and then I rowed for 18 minutes.
Evening now ... watching Midsommer Murders wrapped up in warm fleecy pjs.

Oh Kim, A VERY, VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY for the other day.
Lots of love, Heather UK xxxxxxx1 -
Janetr ... your transformation is inspirational to me!
Heather ... dizziness can be very frightening! Hoping it's a passing thing for you.
Kim ... Happy Birthday!
Lanette ... the new carpet smell is finally starting to fade! Thankfully, the weather allowed us to open the house up. Had it been installed this winter, it would have been very uncomfortable.
Food Shopping ... since I've changed to the IF lifestyle, my eating window (or one meal really) has become very important to me. As you know, I love to try new recipes and now that my nutrients for the day are primarily coming from one meal, I really need to think about what I'm eating. We do have a loose budget, but I don't worry too much about it if I go over. My husband from the first day of our marriage made it clear that food on the table took precedence over every other household expense. Whether I have a vegetable box or not, I start my list by researching recipes that I want to try, look to see if I have the ingredients on hand and, if not, add them to the list. I have to balance how many new recipes I try with tried and true meals simply because it can get expensive buying items you're not familiar with. We eat very little processed food mainly for nutritional reasons, but I also have a problem spending money on something that tastes marginally good knowing that I can make it better. When the freezer gets full of "bits," I plan meals that use them up.
I had a bag of pearled farro in the pantry. Decided to use it up this week and found this recipe... Charlie Bird's Farro Salad. We had it with panko crusted baked salmon. It was delicious!! https://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/ina-garten/charlie-birds-farro-salad-6589464.

Kim - Happy Birthday as well!! Glad it was a good visit with your mom
Terri - I too make out my shopping list according to the layout of the store. Heaven forbid I get distracted and miss an aisle, lol. I even mark through the items on the list as I put them in the shopping basket, and circle the ones where the item was out of stock to put in the new list I create when I get home. Creatures of habit, lol. your garden sounds great, by the way. That U3A group sounds very interesting!!
Heather - I enjoyed reading your spending plan. So true about spending money on what you enjoy now - like your meals. Since we don't spend much money or travel or entertainment or clothing - I have loosened up on buying better quality food items as well.
It dawned on me the reason I gardened for so many years was to save money and have fresh good quality organic food just a few steps away. Things have changed - I no longer can, the deer and rabbits have become such a problem here that I can't depend on the garden to thrive. DH no longer eats fruits and vegetables like he used to. Other than tomatoes and a kale plant and some storage onions, I'm happy to turn over the garden area to snapdragons and other flowers.
I found a new source for veggies - a gal has a "farm cart" on Saturday mornings in a little town nearby only 8 minutes away down a country road. I went there last Saturday and loaded up on lots of fresh organic produce. That's going to become a regular stop for me.
Make it a great week, ladies!

My mom came to visit on Thursday for my birthday and ended up staying till today as there was a plumbing problem at her house and no water for 24 hours. An extra day of company, actually it was fine, sometimes she is a pain and sometimes not, this was a good visit. Yeah!!! I tried hard to make good – or at least ok choices food wise while she was here and had some good and some not so good moments. I’ll get on the scale in a couple of days and see how things are. I find it easier to do food when I am in my routine.

Happy Birthday!

Backs better Hubby took JR with him to the grocery store so I could get a rare break (fell asleep) y shower. No exercise yesterday was busy day. Watched 90 day fiancé as a couple. We went outside as a family to play soccer ⚽️ with JR. Viva la Futball! Jajaja.
Shopping 🛒- A list sits in the kitchen I add as I go try to remember to add it. I research new items to add to try or switch to. Then either I go with hubby to shop or what usually happens he goes alone I hope he gets what I wrote .I hop on Walmart.com when needed too like for my salad dressing to vitamins. Then after we get our veggies, meats, fruit,y more I decide what to cook every day per person depending on their diet .None of ours match fully so a lot of tweaking. JR -high caloric intake 2yr old with rapid growth spurts he’s hyper y a extremely picky eater (he’s next level even organizes his cups to food on his plate picky). Hubby- Special Health Diet needs 1200-2000cal hard job Construction in the heat plus a 2yr old low metabolism.
Me- Special Health Diet 1000-1300calories 2yr old wrangler lol 😂 no longer high metabolism it’s low functioning now peri menopause building muscles back from surgeries. Diet for me is 4oz meat,Veggies lots, fruit occasionally, tea 4-8oz a day to Gatorade zero, water 💦 lots, low calorie ice cream to baked chips to snack on. Brunch,Dinner,y late evening snack or meal depending on calories left.If calories don’t get used or go over I try better tomorrow. Walking indoors. Cousin dieting same time so if got a question can ask each other to suggest new items y talk about the crazy folks in the news. Only me y JR have an app to monitor calories (JR only as needed).
JR yes electronics the IPad I programmed it to only have educational boy apps. So when he’s on it he’s learning. TV got educational programs on I occasionally get something for me . A lot of soccer ⚽️ to books 📚 y studying. Non-stop activities until I drop lol 😂 even at nap time he takes forever to wind down.
Trying to cook 👩🍳 everything (except JRs pizza he only likes PapaJohns) .Hubby y me trying to buy healthier options y teaching each other what we’re learning. JR learning to climb more to head standing so if I don’t comment lol I’m just busy wrangling
Weights yo-yo from 162-164 in a pattern so waiting for it to go down stay there.

Katbid: Welcome! Best advice I can offer-- Let MFP set your calorie goals and stick with it. As you lose weight they will reduce allowed calories. Sometimes the weight seems to hang in there for a while before it slips away. If you are consistent about counting calories you will win in the long run.
Lisa: I’m happy that you love your new home. It took time to find the right place, but the time and care are worth every moment of the “hunt.”
Rebecca: You are an organized and smart shopper. WTG!!! :flowerforyou:
Michele: Your soup kitchen sounds like a great place. Treating people like guests with real silverware is a step in the right direction for the dignity of people and also for the environment. Nice!!!
Kim: Happy Birthday!!! :flowerforyou:
Lanette: We live smack in the middle of town and deer visit our garden. I know they’re enjoying my blue berries, but there are plenty to share this year. The deer are year around residents here. They seem to hide in hunting season, although it is illegal to hunt within the city limits. I have a neighbor who tattles on the deer in my garden but I don’t mind sharing. I grow herbs like chives and parsley, green beans, and blueberries. Beyond that, farm stores are not too far distant.
Our DDIL’s mom has had a horrible round of cancer treatments and is finally getting the chance to recover. I found a cancer map online and shared it with my son. She lives in the state with the highest cancer rates in the nation. Our son & DDIL have taken her to their home for her recovery. Their area has one of the lowest cancer rates, as do we.
