Actually logging my run on the day I did it! That’s a rare occurrence for me lately.
Anyway, went out this morning with my husband for a 4 mile pace run per my training plan. Usually we just do his pace when we run together, but I like to try to do the pace runs at my actual race pace. Push myself a little and see what I can do. We started together and both were feeling a little stiff but as I got loosened up we got to a point where he decided to let me go ahead and he dropped back to a more comfortable pace for him. Ended up with an average pace about 15 secs a mile faster than my targeted race pace, which I was really happy with given the heat and how stiff I felt for the first mile or so. I was running blind because I forgot to charge my phone and my watch relies on it for the GPS info. I knew the route well so as long as I had a time I could calculate it back. It seemed like a good practice in learning how my pace feels rather than relying on my watch.

Well done @katharmonic! I would like to get back into those someday!1

Haven't posted in awhile due to my calf injury, however I have tested it out the last few days and it seems that I can run/walk relatively pain free 90%. I'm hoping I can still do my race on Sept 14. I'll resume the training (where I left off) with run/walk intervals and take it from there.
Congrats to all the racers! Really enjoy reading all the reports, keeps me motivated!10 -

Notes:
Yesterday was the Groovin' Woodstock 7K XC race, the 4th in the MCRRC XC race series. Unlike the last club XC race, this one was a true cross country course - mostly grassy fields with a few sections on mud/dirt trails and one short section on a gravel road. It took place at an equestrian center, so for most of the race the ground was very uneven, with tons of tiny holes hidden under the tall grass. We got some good elevation changes for this one too- 505 ft according to Garmin, though I started my watch ~3 minutes late so I think it was a little more than that. My official time was 34:15, which was good enough for 3rd place female OA and 1st in the 25-29 age group! I stuck with the 2nd place woman for the first 2ish miles of the race; she kept dropping me on the uphills but then I'd catch back up on the down hills. I guess this is my sign to keep practicing those hills so that I can hopefully stick to her better at the next XC race!
Two race pics:At the start (I'm in the yellow singlet, black shorts, and black hat)
Coming up to the finish line, I felt even more tired than I looked

It's my first time posting in August. I hope to get 50 miles this month. I had an uneven start.
8/2...2.12 miles. My husband was sick. So I offered to cut the grass, leaving very little day light for a run. Better some miles than none.
8/3....3.1 miles.....Getting it in before it got dark.
8/7....5.27 miles. Late start with my run. Wanted to get 6 miles, but the sun set earlier than I thought.
8/9...Indiana State Fair...Lots of walking with my husband, at least 5 hours of walking. I am not counting this, but I am sure that it helps legs get strong. Those farm animals are sure cute....my favorite are the sheep. They are so sweet.
8/11...4.2 miles....After work, very sunny and bright, and no breeze. Legs felt like I was running in glue. Also needed to use the bathroom the last 1.5 miles...so very uncomfortable.
total....14.69 miles
goal...50 miles.
My husband and I are going on vacation at the end of the month. He has recently hurt his knee, and assures me that we are still going on vacation. He sees his doctor tomorrow.9 -

I'm doing a terrible job of keeping up with the thread. Work has been so busy and then I get home and things are even busier. Even if I'm not commenting, I'm doing lots of likes.

@ariceroni @MegaMooseEsq @katharmonic Congrats on your races! @ROBOTFOOD That is an amazing picture with the flag almost ghostly in the sky.
Heat advisory again. Lifted yesterday, today was supposed to be a running day but the temp was 102 and the heat index was 118. Just no. Thought about waiting until after dark and running the neighborhood but the forecast says the index won’t drop to 100 until after 10 pm. And tomorrow is supposed to be the same. Instead of dreadmilling it at the gym I did 30 minutes hard on stationary bike at home, tried to match the perceived effort of a 5k running, played around with the tension to simulate hills, etc. Although my quads are burning now, it’s a nice break for my Achilles’ tendon.
Wednesday is our anniversary, and also supposed to be cooler, so my husband and I agreed we are going out and celebrating Tuesday when it’s too hot to run, then running together on our anniversary.9 -

That is awesome! Once you get past that 2 mile hump, in my experience, it’s much easier to add mileage from then on.5 -

I wasn't sure I'd run today, but I felt like the more I sat around the worse I felt. I went to the gym late afternoon and sat in the whirlpool and then went in the regular pool and took some very easy laps. That felt pretty good. I then sat in the sauna for a bit and did some stretching. My timing was bad as just as I was ready to leave there was a heavy downpour so I waited it out a few minutes and then made a break for it. Fortunately it was slowing down and then stopped completely as I drove home.
I decided I felt okay enough to go to run group and just do an easy base run, not the speedwork. Instead of breaking the humidity that downpour seemed to have ramped it up - it was a very sticky night. Even though I intended it to be an easy recovery run, Strava classified it as "tough relative effort" and my heart rate was pretty high. Definitely felt a little rough.6 -
Great job all of you who raced this weekend!!!
I'm back running normally, did a speed workout today on my normal route, more or less 200m slow, then the next 800m (until the km beep on my watch) around 5k pace, repeat for 5k.
Going on a motorcycle trip tomorrow to Niagara Falls as an early anniversary getaway with my husband Will try to run a little, of course!10 -

Currently 14.7 of 40 miles goal for August
I’ve been reading everyone’s posts and am excited to see all the race reports. Especially since I haven’t raced yet other than Parkrun each week. I can’t possibly keep up with tagging everyone with encouraging notes. So I hope you will all take a moment to pretend I said something worthwhile and encouraging. I know I’m encouraged reading all of your posts!
@katharmonic I love your race photos! You look like athlete of the month!
@cyoka13 congrats on your progress!
I skipped Parkrun Saturday to attend a funeral for a friend that passed away last week. She was 91 years old when she passed and had been on hospice care the past several weeks. I’m thankful I had the chance to have dinner with her a few weeks ago and pray with her when she asked me to. She had a long full life and the service was truly a celebration of the love and encouragement she showed others throughout her lifetime. I obviously miss her and have found myself reflecting on my time with her during my training runs over this past week. She was very special and I’m a better person for having known her.
Last night’s training run was slow and steady since Houston is still hot and humid... but I made it 4 miles. My training time window stopped at 3.95 but I found myself thinking I just couldn’t stop until I completed that last .05 mile. This is my longest run. Ever. And my hip did great!15 -

Congratulations @cyoka13 ! Amazing progress!!
@polskagirl01 Happy Anniversary to you too! Have a great trip!
@emmamcgarity Sorry for your loss. It sounds like she was an amazing lady. Great job on the run!2 -
2 miles under a 10 minute pace which is my goal, now to increase the miles! I feel like I must log my food & weigh every day & my reward is I am healthy enough to Run! I plan a mile or 2 on the treadmill after work. Incline, not speed.8
