Machka: The pre-log feature is the business. I found it quite early on MFP and have a whole raft of personal entries which I use often. Like you, I also eat the same for many meals and adapt on the day.
On the way out for some retail therapy. I need new winter shoes etc.
NewGals: Mille Failte. You are very welcome. Sit a spell, jump in when the spirit moves ya! We are a very active group, so don’t be spooked by the number of posts 😂 😂 😂 No one expects you to comment on all!
Must dash. Back soonish mmm maybe not! Once I start shopping......

Meds makes me sicker lol of course. So playing the Trail Game app trying to stay in my calories with seafood y potatoes (fish y chips) with tea guess I’m craving my late mother’s British recipes. Making Hispanic foods for JR y hubby so imagine the smell of fish y gazpacho yuck need to make some cabbage will really have a stink lol. Nauseas terrible so these smells are magnified.Good news is loosing weight from being sick lol it’s the silver lining I guess.
JR had another growth spurt he’s taller

Today is our 10th anniversary. After three marriages and exactly one month from my 70th birthday, I finally get to celebrate 10 years.
I've been horribly sick with a nasty sinus infection, I'm on second round of antibiotics. Finally beginning to feel better.
My oldest niece, 6 years younger than me, has been diagnosed with a very large malignant mass on her left kidney. They think its been there for a long time due to the size. She has an appointment at the Colorado Cancer Center before scheduling surgery and determining what happens from here. Of course she's scared and I wish I were closer to be with her.
My outfit for our anniversary dinner this evening.
Love you my friends

Happy Saturday! Back from the gym, rousting my "on his fifth cup of coffee, but still in bed playing games on his laptop" hubby out. Want to get a few things done this weekend, as the daughter/son-in-law and grandkids will be here next weekend, and we won't get anything done at all...
For the gardener/country types:Plus, I've got a new toy - we do SO much tree trimming, and have so much more to do as we push the edges of the cleared space around the house back to the woods, that we broke down and bought an alligator lopper--pretty much a tiny little chainsaw that's my size, and runs on batteries. Supposedly, will take down branches or brush up to 4 inches in diameter. Should speed things up enormously. Plus, I had an idea--going to try to fasten a tarp onto the back of the riding mower to haul the brush over to the burn pit--when you're taking down small trees and trimming all trees up to head height, you build up a lot of brush REALLY quick. We've got a total of 11 acres, but only the couple acres around the house have thick underbrush at the edges - we've probably got ten feet more on two sides of the property to push back to get to forest that's thick enough that it naturally keeps the underbrush down to something reasonable. Basically, we want to get sight lines into the trees cleared.
Welcome to all the new ones - we're glad you're here! Step into any conversation you choose.
Time to get moving!
Love y'all,
Lisa in AR4 -
Heather, so sophisticated and stunning in your beautiful dress. I hope you had a wonderful day.

Ah, Saturday. How I so look forward to you every week. It’s almost like you are my long-distance lover were I find the weeks are so long and the day together is so short.
I am completely caught up with the group which will not last long. I love reading through everyone’s updates and am glad to have found such a supportive group. I just wish I had more time to catch up and join in to each conversation.
Sharon – I am glad to hear you are back on track. I remember the weather changes and how they have an effect on our moods and bodies. Do you have a sun lamp? I hear the modern ones do not bake you and seem to help with weather fluctuation moods. Your breakfast sounded delicious. I love experimenting with different flavors, textures, and cultural cooking too.
Michele – Hope you’re able to find a supplement that includes Silver and Fit. The post-work healthcare plans are mystifying to cull through. My good friend actually went through a consultant who reviewed all of his medical history, medications, current and possible future needs, etc. in order to select the best plan.
Michele and Machka – If you become friends with someone on MFP and your settings are set to “share food diary” you can see other friend’s diaries. I have been looking at other’s diaries for inspiration when I am in a food rut (same thing over and over again).
Lanette – Work was not as bad as expected. I do have to log in sometime this weekend to compile a few reports. I can let them go until Monday, if I want an early start to the day.
NYKaren – Bummer! I hope the self-nursing helps. I always find soups and broths beneficial when feeling under the weather.
Janetr – Happy anniversary! You look great.
Newbies – Clair, Kelli, Romwriter57, Sherrie, and Wendy, and Those I May Have Missed – Welcome to the group. We are a very diverse and supportive group. There is something for everyone here. Wishing you all well on achieving your goals.
Introduction – I joined MFP at the end of August. My starting weight was 195 pounds and the scale read 179.2 pounds this morning. My ultimate weight goal is to weigh 155 pounds. I have been a get healthy every 10 years type of gal (35, 45, and 55). Every decade I get down to my ideal weight only to have to creep back up at the end of the decade and am finding it gets harder to motivate myself back to getting healthy mode. Over the past trials I have found once I stop logging my daily intake the weight starts to come back. I want an active retirement and in order to maintain personal happiness it is time for me to get back on track.
Yoga Update (one of October’s goals) – One of the gals in the office recently became a certified yoga instructor. My employer is allowing her to have an after-hours mat class the second Tuesday of every month. It’s at no cost to employees (they want to keep us healthy to keep those insurance costs down – not complaining but there is always a motive). So my first yoga class is on Tuesday – yeah!
I hope everyone has/had a great day. SuziQ – Broward County, FL

JanetR - you look aMAYzing! Happy anniversary, glad you're getting over the sinus crud. Kinda lovin' the low-profile hairstyle. You certainly don't LOOK 70.
Lisa in AR2 -
Janet, You look amazing in your anniversary outfit.
Michele, take a few minutes to look through the lists of "Recent" and "Frequent" foods on your food diary. I think you will be amazed at how many of them are exactly the foods you are looking to post.
Jake was going to walk with the dogs and me this morning but then he decided to make bread instead and has everything laid out and he won't be ready when we are ready. He'll go with us tomorrow. Sasha is waiting by my feet and Bessie is under the table finishing her breakfast. I just finished my breakfast so we'll be out the door soon and will probably need a flashlight.

Happy Saturday y'all! I survived my day one of the music festival....logged my 2 beers and snuck in healthy food (Thunderbird fig carrot protein bar, some nuts and some olives). Actually had 28,000 steps on my fitbit. Think it was a win win. And I was motivated after seeing Axl Rose of Guns and Roses as the last band. He needs to join MFP and start logging lol....looked a little bloated : )
Day 2....plan to walk a bunch, eat healthy and log those unnecessary yet delicious beers in 97 degree weather while waiting for the Cure!!!
@Romwriter57: sorry to hear about your diagnosis. Cancer is a B***ch but you are on the right track with exercising and eating healthy. I hate the gym too as I live in Centex and love being outside. But to avoid the god awful heat, I have been going and riding the bike, treadmill and rowing to cross-train and listen to a good book or podcast to feed my brain so its a win-win. And there are lots of great videos on netflix with all kinds of exercises, from stretching to yoga, to beginner weight. Just body weight exercises are great. Wall sits, planks, bridges, pushups. Put on some good music and go for it.4 -

Our wedding picture. I had gastric bypass in December 2013 and lost 125 pounds. After three months of steroids three years ago I was up 25 pounds, decided oh no not going back there. Got back to low carb, low fat , high protein diet and started working out daily. I'm in the best health and strongest I've been in my adult life, and loving it.

Heather: You have the right attitude to be a successful traveler. You are good at making appropriate adjustments as necessary and finding something to appreciate and enjoy. I am delighted that you’re going to hear an ABBA tribute band. I went to a concert in college days and heard the original ABBA singers perform live and in person. They were fabulous! I’ve remembered the concert with fondness all these years.
Machka: Sorry about your eye glasses woes. :flowerforyou: I love daylight savings time and wish we had it year round.
(((Amber in TX))): Be well soon!
Romwriter57: What a sweet pup! Welcome to a great group!
Shelly: Welcome!
Barbie: I’m delighted to hear that dear friends are back in your dancing group.
Barbara: I think DH is careless and impulsive, but not mean. He sometimes says things he shouldn’t. He has a tendency toward criticism. :ohwell:
Machka: We go back to standard time November 3. I will endure it. :ohwell:
Janetr: HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!! You look fabulous.
We have a foggy morning and it feels cozy to be inside. DH just saw the otter family heading upstream at high speed. We love those critters!

Michele in NC - What I have is called Versa-Bell II, but I am not sure that brand exists anymore. Amazon pushes a similar one called ATIVIAFIT. Essentially there is a bearing in them that moves when you turn the dials to change the weight. It looks like the ATIVIAFIT work a bit differently, but it's the same idea. https://www.amazon.com/ATIVAFIT-Adjustable-Dumbbell-Weight-Single/dp/B07S8MZ399.
I added a photo of my home gym...most of it. I also have a Concept 2 rowing machine in another room. The mister has a pullup bar in his cave and a barbell, that I never use. The TV is important. We use it as our mirror to check form.

Bearly63 ~ Nice to see you...you seem like you are having a ball at the music festival. Enjoy your beer.
Janet OKC ~ What a wonderful transformation you have made. You look fantastic and even when you were overweight, you looked like a beautiful lady. Good thoughts for your niece.
Barbie ~ Glad your dance friends have returned.
I am in a dither! About 10 yrs ago, my husband had a heart attack and they had to insert 4 stents. He quit smoking on the dr's orders. Well, lately he has been sneaking smokes in the basement. I am furious with him and ready to scream.

Went to the Hallmark Ornament debut where I was good – only had one Kiss, then to the post office, now home and we’ll cut the grass. Got dinner ready to be microwaved, and breakfast for tomorrow. Logged that. Before church I want to color my roots
M – forgive me – where is the snipping tool? Makes sense about logging into the future. Never thought of that! Lucky you gets DST.
NYKaren – get better fast
Janetr – happy anniversary Feel better fast HUBBA BUBBA … that outfit and you in it
Lisa – the previous owners (why, I don’t know) left a chimney (all bricks, so very heavy) on the land that’s under the power lines but we need to keep mowed. Anyway, we hooked that up to the tractor and pulled it to the back of the property. We trim our treeses every year, I’d like to drag the branches further into the woods behind our house just so next year I have room to put the branches we cut down
SuziQ – Vince’s company offers consulting for medicare, so that’s who I have the appt with on the 18th. Not that I’m really looking forward to it but it has to be done. I do the same thing – check out others diaries for something new to have for meals (especially breakfast)
Had to run buy gas..now to go cut grass (funsville)

Hallo everyone.
Off in a moment to some ballroom dancing before dinner. DH is really gaining confidence.
Oslo is great. We took the Metro to the Munch museum this morning and loved it. They are building a new one on the waterfront because of all the tourists wanting to see THE SCREAM. We got there early, so were just ahead of the Japanese.
After that we came back via the new Opera House, worth a Google. We walked up the slopes to see the view from the roof. What an amazing building!
This afternoon we went to the huge castle, next to where we are moored. An excellent museum devoted to the Norwegian Resistance.
Tomorrow morning we are going to a huge sculpture park, by Metro. All by Vigeland, who I had never heard of before. The park is a must see.
Slept better last night. Still finding it hard to walk all day. Hips hurt. But I can still dance in the evening.
To the cancer lady - don't be too hard on yourself. I was OK for the first couple of sessions, but after that I really couldn't do much at all. That's fine. Chemo is tough. You will have plenty of time to exercise another day. We are not superhuman.
Much love to all, Heather UK XXXXXX still in Oslo.3 -
This is our ship. I took the photo from the castle. Our cabin is right at the front, near the top, with a little bit of curved edge.

Well, not dead yet. Since my fall last December, I was able to (Taylor actually) convince my DH that I really did need to be in PT & Balance. She must have harped on him because he came home and said, 'well, guess my telling you 'it was all in your head', made you think I was telling you that you were making it up'. No $#*T, Sherlock - exactly. So I got my GYN to refer me to the PT & Balance again and what a difference it has made. I was pretty dizzy on Thursday and I think Chris knew it. Much less than I was the previous Tuesday when I kicked out the step I was working with away from me and then tried to get back to the chair behind me. I did not realize that being in the harness made sitting down impossible, so I lost my footing and was dangling - not able to reach the floor or sit in the chair. The last thing I remembered was stepping up and down on the step and then, 2 people running over to me and loosening the harness so I could sit down. I had done 2 sets of 40 each and was working on my 3rd set. He told me I had done enough and he took me out of the harness and I got to leave. Had to laugh at my granddaughter the first day she saw Chris and said, 'oh, Nana!!! If I was only 20 years older ... I laughed and said, 'oh and only to be 15 - 20 years younger ... he is a real Cutie! I guess young people think that older women don't look at younger men as much as older men look at much younger women. WRONG!!! He showed me his 'new' slacks and I told him that his old ones made his butt look cuter. Then told him that I am sure when they got washed or dry cleaned, they will fit him better in the fanny. He laughed then because he knew I was just giving him a hard time. Don't know when I will work with him again. I have 2 other PTs or PTAs to work with before I do. But, since he is the only one who can determine what one needs to be worked with insofar as getting PT and/or working with balance, then he works with that person the first day. It is obvious that he really enjoys his job. They'll be moving next Friday to a much larger. So the following week they won't have PT because they will be working on getting the new place set up.
Other than that - not much going on with me. I went to get weighed in and had only gained about 2 pounds since I have been unable to exercise. Later in the week, I went to GNC to pick up some stuff and weighed myself on their scales - I knew I had not lost 11lbs in a week or 10 days. I have not been keeping up with my weight, exercise, and tracking my food; but, seemingly I have cut back a lot. I went from drinking 6 cups of coffee in a day to drinking only 2. So in that regard, very happy. I just cannot drink noncaffeinated coffee. Taste like drinking muddy woman with a bite at the end and then leaves a horrible taste in my mouth and like a cat, rubbing the taste out of it.
DH and kids will not put my mini trampoline together; even though I would have a place to hold on to. I meant to tell my technicians that my goals are to stop needing the cane (although I know it will be needed if walking on grass or somewhere I can't determine what they are) AND be able to wear my chunky heeled ankle boots. which are about as tall as my pointer finger on the inside where the joints are. Talking about 2 1/2 - 3 inches tall. Thankfully all 4 pairs of knee-high boots are flat except for the cowboy boots and my biker boots and a small heel on them.
Got to try to take a pair of shoes I bought 'on sale' back to store (without a receipt and cannot print out the page on my online banking showing the total price of the 2 pair of shoes I bought. I could not even wear them but once and was totally miserable, they kept sliding off my heel. Nothing I did made them fit any better. Maybe they will let me try on a smaller size. While they might be marked a 7.5 I think they are closer to an 8. I wear anywhere from 7 - 8 depending on how they are cut or styled. I have a very high instep and narrow heel.
I'm still off social networking sites and only check the MFP community every few weeks or months. I could not be happier. I did not realize how cranky and negative I had become.
Well, need to go and finish my housework. Next week is going to be busy for me with an MD appointment every day but Friday. Monday I will find out if Neurologist will allow me to drive again. Hopefully, 'yes' will be his answer. But I will tell him what DH and kids think; all I can really say is that it is very 'confining' to me and inconvenient for Louis if he has to drive me around and take me somewhere I'd want to spend the afternoon; such as the library or to the mall to walk around the interior inside perimeter of it. The only issue there is the floor is not level and I find that after walking around it the first time I am exhausted.
This past week I started having sleepy spells again. Not nearly as bad as before; and, I think it is because while I get into bed at 9:30 pm, I have not fallen asleep by 10:00 pm. Been watching TV and usually, that makes me sleepy. Louis sometimes wakes me up early to get to an early appointment.
Watching my decorating shows. Windy City Reno (not sure id that is actually the name). It makes me wonder what these people do for a living to afford those prices, whether or not they are renting or buying. No wonder when people moving from the north are so surprised at what they can buy in the South is so inexpensive they get a lot more for their buck if the opposite is true from South to North.
It might be another month or two before I'm back! Chow!

Carol in GA: I’d be upset with my DH if I caught him smoking, too. That did happen early in our marriage. I caught him in the act and threw a hissy fit. It has been decades since he smoked his last cigarette. I had parents who were rude and abusive chain smokers. They smoked in the homes of non-smoking relatives and dropped their ashes where ever they fell. I saw dad drop ashes into my auntie’s aquarium. They chain smoked while driving in the car and yelled at me if I rolled a window down. I am still a bit angry even though they’ve both been gone for many years. :ohwell:
Heather: I love the photo of your cruiseship. The merchant’s house is a mansion. I gather he was VERY successful.
Lenora: YAY!! How wonderful to see your post! Stop by whenever you can. :flowerforyou:
We’ve had fun watching the river otters swimming back and forth this morning. DH saw three and I only saw two.
I fly to see DD and her family in four days. I’m a bit nervous about it and will likely worry about it until I get to the airport next Wednesday. I have flown alone in the past so I’ll summon my inner courage and go. DH will drop me off at the airport and I’ll be on my own from there. I’ve decided not to bring my computer along, so I’ll be counting calories on my phone and posting to the list serve. Maybe I’ll figure out how to post to the group, too, but I"m not counting on it.

Stress city! So I had to go to Wal-Mart. I needed new slippers, underwear, and socks. So I go and pick slippers, two pair for $9, not bad. I go to the briefs section and its first what size am I in that brand, what style do I want, what price bundles do I want to pay, what kind of fabric will behave nicely with my LS, its just too much. My husband left me alone, while he went and got a floor mat. Then he came back, I was still fussing. I finally picked out socks, and said I was just overwhelmed with it all. Have I told you I hate shopping?😟
