Happy New Year to all the friends I have met on here!

Here is a new thread for us ... a fresh start for the year 2020!!

I originally started this thread in 2017 .. when I was at my all time highest weight, and so down and discouraged with myself. This is the 4th year now that I am again starting this thread. Losing weight is not easy, and it takes daily commitment. Losing weight also means changing years of bad habits into good habits, and that also does not come easy. It takes daily commitment. If we fail one day, we can always start fresh the next day. This is why this thread is called "JUST FOR TODAY". Because that is all we need to do ... try and do something to improve our habits and lifestyle for just one day.

In this thread, we set daily goals each day. Then the next day, be accountable, and say how you did with those goals, and set new goals. Some of us are very busy, actually most of us are!. So the goals can be very simple, or they can be like a " to do" list. But it is about not giving up and being accountable, and having a group of posters to encourage you to hang in there, and keep going.

So I invite anyone who would like to join us. This is not a group .. anyone can join. And the more you post, the more you get to know other posters, and have that great support and encouragement. This is a thread where we can vent if we need to, ask for help when we have had a bad day, get motivation when we are struggling, and have us as a cheerleader when you have had a good day. It is a thread where each day starts fresh ... one day at a time. Because that is how we can change unhealthy habits to good, healthy habits, one day at a time.

Hi all! I fell way off during the holidays but I'm back.

        My goals for 2020:

        1. Prioritize health and wellness, both physically and mentally
        2. Exercise regularly
        3. Maintain the house instead of letting it go and doing major cleaning
        4. Get pregnant (I'm with you on this @HEGoddard0928 !!)
        5. Cook more frequently

I actually cooked today for the first time in a while and made a nice healthy dinner! I also stayed within my calories for the first time in idk how long.

I'll be back to post goals in the morning, happy New Year everyone!!

Happy to see a new post for 2020.

I haven’t made any goals yet for the year or even had a chance to think a lot about it.

Hubby and I just had an argument our first in quite a while but my first thought was why do I want to be here. I want to be happy and I want to have a husband that I wants to please me as much as I want to please him. I don’t think he does and I don’t think the small things I do are appreciated. Maybe I’m wrong but right now it sure doesn’t feel like it. Maybe I need to focus on that this year getting and keeping a happy marriage or being alone.

I’ll come up with some goals soon.

So sorry to hear that your new year is starting out this way. You guys have both been under a lot of stresses lately .. praying that things can get better for you, or that you can have some peace, whatever that would mean. Hugs dear friend.

        Happy New Year, everyone!

Today I have done some balance practice. I'm going to do some core work, portion out some of the soup my husband made, meal prep for next week, go for a run, and then we're visiting friends this evening. And I'm going to try to log on and check in tomorrow morning.

Good morning! Husband soup is pretty tasty. I'm a little achey after my core work yesterday, but I did it! I'm going to try to do that and the yoga for balance today. We're going to visit my parents for a late lunch. I might see if I can manage an inside run after lunch. And I want to clean off my desk, and make a necklace for a friend. Also I have my gloves sitting out and I don't really have a place for them. I need to find one. ETA: And I'm going to try to put the laundry away. There's not a lot, but hopefully if I put it away when there isn't a lot, it won't be as much of a chore! (Hopefully.)

My run yesterday was my longest one so far since I started running again - 5.2 miles!

I don't yet have any goals for this year. I've been sorta-kinda thinking about it, but for the moment, I'm content just to do what needs to be done.

@snowflake1968 - Sorry to hear about your argument. :( I hope you're able to get things sorted.
Thanks for getting us started again @mytime6630! Those sound like some great goals :)
@PackerFanInGB - Like you, I gained rather than lost (although everyone seems to think I've lost? so I must have done something right!) but it's a process. I only gained a little, slowing my rate, so hopefully this year I can turn that around and send the scale back the other way.
Good luck with the pregnancies @HEGoddard0928 and @aubyshortcake! Hoping everything goes smoothly and healthily :)

Happy new year JFT! Thank you so much @mytime6630 for starting a new thread for 2020. I like fresh starts. This group is so supportive and inspiring, and helps keep me accountable.

        2020 Goals:
        1) Get weight below 160# (last time was 4/20/19)
        2) Plan meals most days & prelog whenever possible on MFP
        3) Post weekly weigh-in on JFT for accountability
        4) Take measurements & log on MFP monthly (I stopped as weight plateaued & went up)
        5) Exercise 5-6x per week (minimum 4x) ~ mostly walking but include weights/circuit & other x-training
        6) Participate in race events ~ have planned 7 5Ks and 2 10Ks at minimum
        7) Be considerate and loving to hubby and have fun together
        8) Make efforts to keep in touch with parents, siblings and friends (most live in other towns or states)
        9) Declutter home office, bedroom and basement

        Word for 2020 = Persist

JFT 1/2 Th ~ Back to work after 12 days off and boy, was it hard to get out of bed this morning!
        1) Move hourly / stairs breaks / 5 somethings
        2) Change clothes & leave early for workplace mindfulness hike (bah ~ not enough snow for showshoes)
        3) Prelog meals & snacks / not sure of supper plans since hubby not at work tonight / 14c water
        4) Wish niece/goddaughter happy bday / schedule annual physical & shingles vaccine / catch up work inbox since absence
        5) Spend evening w/ hubby <3 / unplug 9:00 / FLOSS (let this go on vacation :s ) / retainers / bed & tv off 10:20
