JANUARY 2020 WEIGHT LOSS CHALLENGE😀😀****

I'm curious - do any of you fine folks practice intermittent or extended fasting? If so, what are your windows?
I’ve been doing some variation of IF for over 2 years now. When I first started I was very strict and wouldn’t eat anything until 5:00pm. But I actually found it difficult to eat enough calories in such a short time frame.
Over the past year, I’ve found a WOE that really works for me. I have coffee in the morning, I have a protein shake (160cals) that I allow myself to drink from throughout the day. If I’m hungry, I have a sip and I’m usually fine. Anytime between 2-4pm, I’ll eat one of my veggie concoctions (butternut squash w/kale, roasted mixed veggies, kale&bean soup, veg chili, etc.). Then I’ll eat dinner with the family. I love being able to have a big dinner. (I still weigh all of my food. It’s totally possible to go over calories even if you’re eating OMAD).
Disclaimer: I didn’t read anything about IF before I started it. I probably don’t follow it as “written”, but this is what works for me. I kind of fell into this plan after having my gallbladder out in 2016. I felt sick after eating anything and changing up the timing of my food is the only thing that helped in the long run.
My diary is open. Yesterday is a good example of a typical day. Pretty much everything is listed as a snack or dinner.
One last thing...I’ve learned that if I’m hungry I should EAT! It’s important to listen to your body. This is a lifestyle for me. Not a diet. I am super close to my original goal of a 40lb loss. I feel like I’ve created some great habits that I can sustain once I move to maintenance.5 -

I've been trying to lose weight but it has been a very slow progress. aka lost 10 lbs over the course of 2019. Hopefully a 30 day free trial with MFP will help me pick up the habits I need to get to 130lbs before my wedding, which is on Halloween.

It's never too late to start, and it is NEVER to SOON to start! Glad you're starting. Slow and steady is the way to go.
My Fitness Pal actually is free. Don't quit after 30 days. If you're doing the 30-day trial, it's for their premium service. There are some neat features with that service, and definitely it's nice to get rid of the ads. I had a three-month free trial for participating in a challenge. There wasn't enough benefit for me to continue, but if I did continue, I'd for sure do the annual fee rather than monthly. Much more affordable. If you miss premium after you get on the free standard plan, sign back up. Don't quit, though - this is a long journey, and MFP is a powerful tool to help guide you.

This is a lifestyle journey and along everyone's path there are rest areas, detours, traffic jams, wrong turns, vehicle issues, delays, and speed bumps. Today is a great day to continue on your journey.
