Got text from son. They are at Er with grandson. He is 2 1/2 and decided to try to climb out of crib. Fell, broke both bones in his left forearm. Doctors at Phoenix Children's say clean breaks. They were setting it a bit earlier so hopefully they get home soon. I think Logan is probably handling it better than Mom and Dad! Son said Logan's biggest problem was he didn't like having to stay in the hospital bed--he wants to get up and explore. I am guessing son will convert to the toddler bed when they get home. Son just updated-he only gets splint tonight and follows up with ortho to get cast in a week or so.
Off to bed-work trip tomorrow. Luckily just overnight Monday and back home Tuesday. Sinus infection showing some improvement. Felt good enough to get a walk in this afternoon, It was near 50F and sunny. Going to surgery center in morning-brother having biopsy for tumor on vocal chords. Hopefully nothing bad.
Take care all,
Ginny in Ohio
>>>
Logan will be halfway healed by the time he gets his cast on next week. They heal so fast, and you are right that it is much harder on the parents than on Logan. Such guilt.
Hope your brother's vocal chord tumor is benign.

Machka: Hope this round of med appts get that RTW fiend off your back. Your tenacity in looking out for your DH is exemplary.
Kylie: What a weaselling rat of a POS! Hope he gets his comeuppance!
Imperial measurement: so called because they were standardised by the king/queen of the time. One of the earliest standardising attempts was made by King Henry 1 in the 1100s. The yard was the distance from his nosetip to the end of his thumb. Current British Imperial Measures were standardised in the 1800s. (Coincidentally, the length measurements do roughly relate to the proportions of the mature human body. The knuckle of the index finger is roughly 1 inch, the average human foot is approximately 12 times the knuckle measurement, (1 foot). The distance from nosetip to outstretched fingertip is roughly 3 times the length of the foot (1 yard). I have actually seen a market trader measure out cloth roughly using this method.)4 -
Ginny - What scary news! I have no doubt your gs is handling it better than your kids. Hugs for you and prayers for quick healing. I'm betting the cast won't slow him down at all.

Good Monday! I am on page 64 as I had no internet this weekend and was spending time with oldest daughter and youngest granddaughter.
Taken after her dance competitions
My granddaughter reading me and her friend a good night story.
Had a blast. It was great spending time with them. Had Chipoltle for dinner and my belly wasn't happy. 😢 I thought I made good choices in my bowl, but only ate half and my belly swelled so badly. The upside is I didn't get any other things going on. Was exhausted last night. Kept dozing in my chair at 7 pm. Was in my bed at 830.
Trying to catch up.
Hugs!
Welcome!
Congratulations!
Safe travels!

@exermom ... NASCAR driver Ryan Newman has revealed he suffered a head injury.
I hope they are treating it seriously. Even concussions are serious injuries, but many people just pass them off as not that bad ... myself included actually, considering I've had at least three concussions I'm aware of.

(My husband's was a hemorrhage with diffuse axonal injury)

Hi all,
Ginny - sorry to hear about the cot injury, but, indeed, they heal super quick! My younger son learnt to climb his cot walls very early, so his dad gradually built it up bigger and bigger with screwed in planks of wood, until nothing would keep him in! We got some second hand bunk beds after that. Max fell off the monkey bars last year and broke one of his arm bones. Soon mended.
Done a good stretch of writing this morning. I'm writing about when I was a young teenager and how I had to learn how to make myself attractive to boys. I thought of myself as 'plain' and trained myself to be a bit more vivacious. Mind over matter.
I'm just so glad I'm not that age now.

"Get to do"s and "chose well"sChose well: invest 10 mins tidying office, church, “Almost Maine” with friends.Suebdew is having eye issues and won’t be doing a lot of reading on the computer. She and her husband have had a rough time health-wise since going to Colorado to visit family, are back home now and getting medical attention, but alas, her eye issue has not yet improved. She asked me to tell everyone she misses them and hopes everyone is doing ok.
Bonus: more than an hour of filing.
Get to do: invest 10 mins cleaning Master Bth, carry over 10 mins cleaning Kitchen/Laundry, BB&B, drop off paperwork at Dr, Denise’s house for email, BiMart for rx, Freddie’s for complete series TDAP <$48. voicemail Doug about Win10 update and iCloud install, board meeting minutes, bake bran muffins, call Carolyn D. Tuesday Shadow to Mini Pet Mart to shop for crate, line dance. March: get Shingrix vaccine, follow up for DEXA scan appt. Reward: inventory seeds, plan garden, order replenishments.
Alas, tried to put together Tumble’s new elevated cool bed. Got frustrated, threw a toddler temper tantrum including pieces onto the floor, now I’m missing one of the little plastic gaskets. Will ask Joe for help tomorrow. Pfui.
Katla Joe’s afraid the puppy would be destructive. In a way I agree, since we haven’t taught her how to stay alone. So far she’s been satisfied with dollies, kongs and sticks, but Joe remembers how Tumble chewed his sandals, glasses and OH NO the remote. Joe has never enjoyed leisurely meals whether in or out. As eldest of 5 who grew up in lean times he fills his plate and eats quickly. I like to chat and enjoy a glass of beer or wine while I eat, so am grateful for a few gal friends who do likewise.
Pip :brokenheart:
Lanette “everything is back to normal” hooray!
Karen a wee wee, would love to hear the story behind that one
Kylia those apples fell not far…
Too sleepy for more.
Lighter, lovelies!

Good morning ladies!
Skimming through....
Janetr popped into my head this morning. Sending heaps of good wishes her way.
Barbara AHMOD - thank you for the update on Suebdew! I sometimes imagine myself standing in her pecan grove. Sending good wishes her way as well.
Tracey - good observations about chemicals in our food and the potato experiment! Thanks for sharing that!
I read an article this morning about what happens when we lose weight (fat), and how chemicals, hormones and toxins stored in that fat are released into our bloodstream. https://getpocket.com/explore/item/when-you-lose-weight-your-fat-cells-don-t-just-let-go-of-fat?utm_source=pocket-newtab Thankfully, our bodies do a good job of eliminating this stuff. I always thought the purpose of drinking lots of water while dieting was to mainly fill up our hungry tummies, now I understand better how the water is helping flush the garbage out.
Lisa - glad to hear you are clickin' with IF. I seem to be automatically trending to 17/7, some days longer. Some days shorter. Funny how when we start eating for hunger and not out of boredom, our bodies let us know when it's time to eat.
Heather - I watched an old episode of Midsomer Murders yesterday where the Barnaby cousins solved a murder that took place at Brighton Beach on Brighton Pier. (Season 12 maybe) I am curious if that really was near you or filmed elsewhere - so many shows supposedly set in Seattle are actually filmed in Vancouver or other places in Canada - cheaper filming costs. At any rate, very nice beach wherever it was!
Kylia - you and your daughter look like sisters!
Better get crackin'. Have a wonderful week!

Lanette - Our beach is pebbles. The nearest glorious sand is some way west at Littlehampton.
Kylia - You are looking very trim I'm not surprised you were tired. Anything out of the ordinary wears me out these days, even happy times! Lovely family.
Sending love to Suebdew. Barbara, please convey all our thoughts and wishes for her recovery.
Wind and pouring rain again here. What a February! At least I haven't got Viv's snow. I had a food delivery this p m and forgot to order salad, so DH has gone out in the driving rain to save the day. They didn't have the bread I ordered (it's hand cooked, so I expect it wasn't baked yet when they packed everything) and, worst of all, they substituted real beer for the AF pack I had ordered. The delivery guy was just as horrified as me and said he would have words when he got back. Poor guy, it was absolutely pouring down!
Still expecting an Amazon delivery.
I'm making a ragu this afternoon which will be big enough to freeze some. Hooray!
Viv - Isn't it nice to get a real treat. I just love good service in an old fashioned way. A good waiter can make or break your whole experience. The ones at the Wolseley were absolutely spot on. Just the right combination of friendly and efficient. We even had a discussion about changing a 'have to' into a 'choose to' and a laugh about it. I like my waiters to be people, but not over familiar. I really respect and admire people who do their jobs well. That's a major reason why I enjoy the cruises so much - everyone is just excellent at their jobs. It is soooooo relaxing.

I have just been diagnosed with fatty liver disease, and two of my doctors have told me I must eat a low fat diet and lose weight. I am currently 54 pounds overweight. I am going to need a lot of encouragement to do this, so any tips or advise will be much appreciated.14

I was just taking my vitamins. I realized that my bad eating habits came back when I stopped the coQ10. Hmmm. Maybe I am being superstitious. What kinds of vitamins do you all take?
I take B, C, D, garlic, biotin, turmeric, iron and minerals.

Barbara Thank you! I love the nickname question, so here goes: started as Boo Boo (which I later found out was because I “wasn’t meant to be born” – Daddy quote), then Little Lu (maybe my favorite because my Momma called me that), Cindy through elementary school (my sister and her kids still call me that), Luci (from my sweet Hawaiian 5th grade teacher), in high school Lucifer and Juicy Lucy came up…definitely wasn’t a fan, then one of my dear friends gave me “Lucc” which caught on well and lasted with some of those friends for life (pronounced Looch), now I am Luci or Lucinda which is my given name. I just found out where my name came from last year! All the years my Mom and Dad mislead me saying it was just a name they liked, but at a family reunion I was looking at the map from a college they attended together…my sister and I were both named after the streets on either side of the college campus. I thought it was neat to find out but am super curious why they lied.
Thank you for the update on Suebdew!!
Amber Yummy pizza recipe!
Pip Super broken hearted with the doggy cuddle picture! I love my doggies so much and when they go to the rainbow bridge they take part of me with them!
Lanette Glad to hear you are infection free! Also, glad to hear you like the Barilla chickpea pasta. I’ve been thinking about trying it. Think I will go for it.
Ginny So sorry about GS’s accident…how scary! Happy it was a clean break. Hope you are continuing to feel better! Prayers for brother’s biopsy that it is benign!
Lisa “I do read y'all's stuff and keep up with your lives. Not in a creepy way.” – LOL!
Kylia Super pictures!
Machka Your running class sounds great! I miss my running days. I assumed Newman would have a head injury. DH argued that he was extremely well protected, but nothing can protect you from that kind of trauma! I know my head injury has changed my life dramatically. The 200+ pound person in the back seat broke the headrest into my head along with the whiplash of a 50+ mph crash. Nothing like what your DH is going through, but I am not able to think clearly, process information, or make decisions, etc. even though I have improved since the injury.
Patricia Welcome! I, too, was diagnosed with fatty liver disease (and diabetes) last year. I have been able to lose 45 pounds so far and my A1C and liver enzymes are great. If I can do this, I know you can too!!
Hooray! I'm caught up! Just in time for a doctor's appointment then off to hold my Iris!!! I am so much happier since that little nugget came into my life!!
Luci - cold and rainy in WNC

Annie I take C, D, B complex, multi for women 50+, and Curalin (herbs for blood sugar control)2
-
Welcome Patricia - you are in the right place. I lost 57 lbs and I love my food! You can do this!
Luci- Wow, those legs! You always seem so coherent when you write. It's hard to believe you have any fuzziness.
I've just booked the rest of the excursions we had bookmarked for the Norway cruise. Unfortunately, one was already sold out, so we had to go for the slightly more expensive option that includes a short Grieg concert in an old wooden church along with a scenic drive. (I had already booked the RIB trip around the fjord for the morning of that day. Just for me as DH is worried about his bad back. )
Also we have a trip to an old fishing town with wooden houses and a visit to a house, and another is a longish walk through apple orchards to a cider farm for a tasting of cider and apple brandy and a visit to the orchid house.
As it will be April we will need clothing for all weathers!
I am excited, though I realise that everything might be cancelled if the Coronavirus really takes over. Everyone on the ship is over 50 and a lot are over 80. Some 90+. I guess it's just wait and see.
Allie - Hope your return goes smoothly. Can you post a pic from your phone to keep us going?
Much love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx4 -
My wrinkly-dinks, oh how I miss u7 -
Carol Thanks!

My friend Lynette is surrounded by family and dear friend Shona this morning in Colorado. Shona stayed through the night so Lynette's husband Rod could get some sleep.
I commented yesterday that today would be Lynette's mother's 84th birthday and Shona replied that she & Rod thought it would be perfect if Lynette joined her mother on her birthday.
Shona said Lynette held her own through the night, and seemed to be waiting for Rod to get to the nursing home this morning. Now that he's there, Shona says Lynette seems to be letting go.
Whoever said that a person with Alzheimer's dies twice was spot on. I didn't really know it until now.
This is a not very good photo of 4 of us at high school graduation. It's a photo of a photo. From left to right, Lynette, Shona, Jodie, and me. Missing is Pam, who took the photo. Also missing is Daylene, who was an after high school addition to our little group of friends.
