Hi to all hope everyone is finding things getting easier for those struggling. I just wanted to thank everyone here for the support. Tomorrow will be 1 yr since I quit beer all together. Cant really believe I did it but its done. I have nothing to compare stats wise other than 35 beer bubbly pounds gone. But Im sure Im in a better position and my liver thanks me. Gone are also the miserable hangovers. Dont miss it.
Congratulations 🎉!!5 -

Hi Friends, all is well here. I feel so happy because we finally have sun. It melted the snow and tomorrow should be really nice.5

A group of 4 of us went out to a usually very busy restaurant last night. So sad to see barely anyone out and about. This Coronavirus is really doing a number on the economy. I am choosing to just go about my business and live my life, though washing my hands more. I'm not going to become a hermit over this. Have a Sober Sunday, Friends.4

Good Morning Sober Squad. I don't like mondays but they are better without wondering what I did last night. Awfully dark early in the morning after the clock change. I'm grateful to be alcohol free to deal with the stock futures down as far as they are today. Normally I would be sitting here shaky with palpitations and a clammy sweat. Now I can watch my stock portfolio evaporate in a much calmer fashion. Oil is getting crushed so cheaper gas is on the way! I wonder if my lack of drinking has effected the stock price of any of the major booze producers. Have a great day everyone!

Can I join please. At, never been a big drinker as I rarely go out but when I do I make up for it and it gets veryou very messy which then leads to a massive dip in my mental health.
The hardest part of giving up alcohol for me is peer pressure and confidence,my friends just don't understandand someone going out and not drinking and because I suffer from social anxiety alcohol just makes everything easier...until the next day.7 -
@RubyRed427 I absolutely LOVED that read It started off so full of despair but then it ended with so much hope. Thank you for sharing . Welcome to all the new folks! Please feel free to share your sober tips!4

I'm with you on the time change absolutely for certain!!! R-r-r-r-r-r!! I wish they would just leave things as they are with more light in the evenings. One day................................!! Congrats on another 243 -
Welcome to all who are newly on board with us here working toward an AF life!! So supportive and encouraging to see the many comments.
@RubyRed427 That article was definitely worst-case scenario! The progression of alcoholism is scary from alcohol initially being the answer to social anxiety and then to the drinker eventually ending up being alone as the disease takes hold. And ALL the time and disasters in between!! I've seen people go down that road and don't want to be one of them. LOVE being sober!!4 -
6:51 am in Vegas another 24, yesterday was close for me! Stressed out about alot of crap at work and nearly stopped by the gas station 😳 that would have ended up disastrous, glad I passed but hope I keep my mojo, have a great AF DAY!7

Strong woman! Glad you were able to pull thru it. Wouldn't have done you any good anyway. Especially tomorrow! 😱8 -
Today is my 30 day mark. I've also been on strict bed rest for a month, & have another 3-4 weeks to go. It has been such a physical, mental, & emotional drain, that I am equally shocked & thankful that I've been able to do it without alcohol in the mix.7

Tomorrow I go back to the dietitian. Its been 2 weeks and I willl be weighed. Frantically looking through my closet for something light weight. I don't think I can weigh in in my swimsuit LOL. I'll let you know the results good or bad. I am hoping that I have been eating clean enough to lose at least a couple of pounds Lordy, it is HARD at my age!7
-
@Stephanne13 30 days is a HUGE DEAL!!! You can do this! Sending continued good wishes for a speedy recovery .6

@JenT304 Thank you so much. It's been a challenge. Bed rest leaves a person with very little to do to occupy time. I'll be glad when this leg is healed & I'm able to work on being active & physically stronger. I know it will only aid in my AF journey as well.7 -
Good morning all food for thought as to motivation I don’t post much but read everything here
In May I am 12 years AF and 😀160 pounds lighter I am 72 swim 1.5 miles a day and run most days also I have a hat that says Older than Dirt because people continually ask “ how old are you or why are doing that at your age?”
With Coronavirus a lot of my peers are staying home because of comprised immune system or respiratory problems. I never imagined that being fit would have these benefits but I am really glad it does
We can’t foretell what benefits we will have in the future but it’s worth thinking about when you have harder times staying AF.
Our health is the gift that keeps on giving9 -

Congratulations on 30 days! Hope you heal up quickly, bed rest would drive me crazy! Jen,I laughed at your swimsuit weigh in🤣 leggings are a good bet for weigh ins I think 😎 7:09 am in Vegas another 24 of no drinking-its gross have a wonderful AF day all 💗4 -
Wow I haven't been on here for a very very long time!! I am reading these posts and realize how much I've missed everyone!!! @RubyRed427 I had to see if you were still on my friends list!! I'm glad you are
Update on myself.
This January I said ENOUGH I am done with this binge drinking. I have not binge drank yet this year and I feel so AMAZING. This allowed me to reflect and I really had to come to grips that I have a problem with binge drinking alcohol. I don't drink during the week but the amount I drank on the weekends made up for the entire week. I learned that I binge drink when I'm happy, sad, depressed, angry, bored, relaxed. I binge drink with all my family and friends NO MATTER who I hung out with.
Because I haven't been drinking the peer pressure is through the roof! Which makes me wonder about my relationships with my friends. Like last weekend I had 1 vodka/club soda. My friend pressured me sooooo bad saying "Come on Dee you need to get at least one more drink." I was so annoyed when she wasn't paying attention I just had a club soda with lime! She has even said "You are not fun when you don't drink!!" WTF!! Do I have to be the drunken slob kabob to have fun!! If people don't want to hang out with me anymore then so be it. I have gotten to the point where I am ok with not drinking.
My weight is finally dropping! I gained 5 lbs muscle mass and my BF has gone done 4% thus far. I am seeing muscle definition and my workouts are so efficient.
I never want to go back to the binge drinking EVER AGAIN!!!

OK I went to the dietitian this morning and I've lost 4 lbs! I realize that is not a ton for 2 weeks BUT it's better than zero! Instead of high fiving we bumped elbows and made heart hands at each other LOL. She said keep up the good work. TIP: Do you love tuna salad? Mix the tuna with Tzatziki dip (the Greek stuff) instead. I could not really taste the dif in my sandwich yesterday. If you can't find it, ,maybe some Greek yogurt instead? A lot of little changes add up to lbs. Also if you like avocado, try mixing that with your eggs to make egg salad instead of mayo.. Good and healthy fat!8

That is 2 lbs per week! That is an awesome loss in my book! I'll take that any day!
Congrats to you!
