Hi all, joining as an almost 50! I want to knock the 7kg that I went over my usual weight after recovering from a major depressive episode in 2015 by August.
I know my weaknesses and my challenges.
Now gotta deal with them!6 -
Morning ladies
Thought I had almost caught up up but somehow I'm 6 pages behind.
Going for afternoon tea today with the Ladies Who group, I'm a little nervous, it's a smallish group this time but I only know one of them slightly. I've made it a goal for the year to attend more outings without my good friend Jean, and I'm better with smaller groups, so I'll take a deep breath and enjoy it!!
Mum feeling a little better this morning, I've said I'll take her for an afternoon soon, I think she'll enjoy it. She is on the waiting list for physio and we are hoping this will help her be a little more mobile, we'll see.
Better get my chores done, I'm trying to keep to my morning routine, not easy. I've also been decluttering for lent, (one item a day for 40 days) some days I have done more than one item, but it's getting difficult now, need to up my game
Love to all

Good Wednesday,
Typing as I go, so may answer questions others do.
Michelle- No antisthetic?!? Wow! I ended up getting double dosed. My body processes locals quickly. On the top right of my meals list is a place that if you touch will give you options of list. Mine is by date entered.
Amber- My girls were in cloth diapers. Rubber pants were a must. They didn't like being wet and potty trained well. Boys are a whole new ball game! Keep it up, but also remember some kids just take longer. I had one when I did family day care that when he turned 3 his mom wanted to potty train. After 2 weeks of pee everywhere he had to wear diapers at my house. 4 months later, he woke up, told his mom no diaper, and didn't have any awake time accidents.☺ He got really good at picking up nap blanket, undressing, putting things in washer, wiping down and repressing. He loved the sense of independence. No judgement. No embarrassment. Just part of daily routine.
My niece took MIL to doctor yesterday. That was a struggle! She has a severe UTI. Apparently, wouldn't take the meds she was given a month ago for the same thing! Rrrrrrrr! At least we understand what is going on. Now to make sure she takes her meds!
Onto page 34

Allie- Almost to the end! I have only ever walked away from one job with no notice. The man had just bought the flower shop I worked at. He was a mean, rude man. I spent 2 days in tears. On day 3, I left at lunch and never went back! It was my second job though. Fast forward a few years, he sees me at our shop. He says, I was trying to figure out how I knew you, then remembered you worked for me....uhoh.....He said, you were a great worker! Lol! Hugs to you!
So local colleges have shut down classes. University of Dayton is sending everyone home as of 6pm tonight. All classes will be conducted online. A bunch of the students got together in the streets, had a party, got out of hand (again), police called, left a huge mess in streets! I don't get it! A few years ago they actually destroyed cars during a street party. This is an expensive college! I don't think I would be comfortable sending my kids there.
One of my renters is a single young lady. Last year the senior lady next door died in her home. She wasn't seen for 3 days (unusual as she was quite nosey). I mean looking in people's windows nosey. Yesterday she sends me a news post. Apparently another death about 4 houses up. I hope she doesn't get spooked out. This one was a senior.
On to page 35.

I wish my university would finally do that. Right now, they're "threatening" us that if we don't turn up to class it will be deemed that we're not engaging with the course and could be removed from the course.
I figure less human contact is better.

Kylia - Oh my gosh! UTI in the elderly makes them completely crazy! My mother had the most amazing hallucinations. After she had recovered she said she couldn't believe how real it all felt at the time. "They were as real as you sitting there!"
Watch out for thrush as an after effect of the antibiotics. My mum was too ashamed to mention it for a while.
I was streaming with my cold last night, but was only awake for about an hour in the night. Tongue kept sticking to the roof of my mouth. Done my main exercises this morning, apart from weights, which I will get to when I have finished typing.
Haven't decided whether to go to French Circle tonight or stay at home. Will see what stage the cold is at. If I'm sneezing or coughing I won't go, otherwise I will sit at the back and not touch anything.
There's a budget today and a COBRA meeting. Half of me is hoping that they will ramp up the measures soon so I can get my cruise money back. A member of the health ministry has come down with the virus and was at a meeting in the infectious stage. Ooops!
It is Bea's 4th birthday on Saturday. Family and a couple of friends coming. I'm sure that is fine, but I'm not sure about DDIL's arrangements for 28th March. Can't see that happening. i360 followed by a cream lunch/tea at the Grand. Oh well, my son has reserved it, so we will see.
I've delved into my cupboards and found a large silvery blue cake board and some ice blue food colouring. The cake is a 4 shape and I have lots of Frozen 2 stuff to go on it and four glittery candles. I will, of course, post a photo.
Very glad I'm not trailing up to London tomorrow.

All caught up again.
Katla- that was a strange post. I concur with others, is all okay?
Machka- I went to grocery Monday night around 730 and I was shocked at limited selections. I ended up with regular tuna when usually buy low sodium. Hopefully I can handle it. Mmmmm....maybe I will need to rinse before using. That is what I do with canned beans even low sodium ones. Our freezer is stocked with deer meat so we will be fine there. Also have boxed Mac n cheese since I am not suppose to eat right now. Reckon it wouldn't hurt to get a few more canned veggies(yuck) in the event needed. I can always donate to food pantry if not needed. Maybe some more frozen fruits. Otherwise, yogurt would be the only thing I would be concerned about. I will just try to buy an extra or two when I shop. We don't eat much bread and use little milk. Eggs would probably be another thing I should buy a few extra of.
I am TRYING to attitude change....really I am! Sister in law worked 10-1 yesterday.
Upside- got home from dinner last night and told husband to give me 20 minutes then I would list more stuff on eBay for him. He said okay! He then thanked me for doing it! We have made enough to pay for his new recliner and the other half of our cabin in September. Added benefit is he has gotten rid of over 40 items sitting around!
Our banquet is still on this weekend. Apparently hunters are hard to keep down. Hand washing, no touching. Maybe they figure there is enough alcohol in most of the attendees to drown any germs! Lol!
Need to get my day going!
Welcome to the new ones checking in!
Hugs to all in our daily struggles!
Thankful for all your support!

I am thinking of ordering a carton of eggs next time I place an order. I don't usually get eggs because they make my gall bladder very painful, but they're OK in baking and we've got flour, oats, sugar, oil etc. With eggs, we could make something!
I just can't bring myself to order canned veggies. They taste completely wrong. But a few more canned beans might be OK ... chickpeas, 3-bean medley, etc.
Frozen fruit might be a good idea ... I was thinking about how to handle the fruit situation. I've got some fruit cups but frozen might be nice.
Edit: I've also picked up a few novels from a couple different OP shops.
Lots of my time at home will likely be spent doing uni homework because I can do all of that from home. And some of my time might be spent doing work because I can do a tiny bit of that from home. But with an extra 1.5 hours where I'm not busing to and from work, I might actually have some time to read a novel.

Don't know why frozen veggies didn't pop in my head-hehe. Much better than canned!0

Good morning ladies
What I am grateful for during this time of possible quarantine....
1.) Amazon and other online retailers who can generally deliver what you need within a day or two. Drop it in the front step.
2.) Local grocery store pickup (Walmart-place your order online, and when you go to pick it up, it's delivered to your car) and even delivery from our local Safeway. And the pizza guy, lol.
Regarding our gut microbes, here are 2 important ones that are mentioned in the literature I'm reading: Akkermansia muciniphila https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6223323/ and Faecalibacterium prausnitzii https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5492426/ I am not a microbiologist, nor do I play one on TV, but the the upshot on these bugs is that they love many resistant starches and fermented products, and colored fruits and veggies. We've been told to eat from the color spectrum and eat fermented foods - these (very technical) articles kind of explain the why, and there are many other resources in the internet. These bugs also help with obesity, can help heal leaky gut, and boost our immune systems. Kind of interesting reading if you are bored or have spare time.
Tomatoes have started to germinate and will be moved to the "nursery" today. They'll be basking under a full spectrum flourescent lights and keeping their toes warm on heat mats. Of course, a little snow is possible this weekend and highs of 41 - their garage environment is unheated but I think they'll be fine.
Make it a great day, ladies.

How many times a day do you touch your face?
The health advice includes washing hands with soap frequently throughout the day and avoiding touching your face.
When I hear that my first thought was, "That's OK, I hardly ever touch my face" ...
Then I started paying attention to it, and it's like my hands are glued to my face!! Rubbing my itchy, sore eyes. Checking my broken tooth. Scratching my itchy nose. Brushing my hair out of my face. Pushing my glasses up.
I'm trying to really focus on not touching! And I might need to start wearing my hair back.
Oh, speaking of hair, I've started washing it 6 days a week instead of just 5 and I might go to 7. I'm also debating about having about 6-8 inches lopped off the bottom. I can almost sit on it now. It's possible it might be healthier to have it slightly shorter.
M in Oz6 -
I have my fingers in my mouth virtually non stop when I'm at home. I reckon once I'm through the door my own bugs are all around me so I'll wash my hands carefully when I come in and then just carry on. The important thing is not to bring new bugs through the door.
Lanette - The problem is that any object has been touched by multiple people, so to be absolutely safe you would have to disinfect everything. For me that is a step too far. I have been putting things away after shopping with my gloves still on, carefully peeling my gloves off, and then washing my hands.

My husband’s work place closed for the week to clean. Everyone is working from home. I’m getting a glimpse into future retirement and him around all the time.
My biggest complaint-I’ve enjoyed cranking the stereo while cleaning the house, dancing along a little bit. Can’t do that while he’s working and I feel self conscious about doing it when he’s home.
Dirty house and no tunes makes for a grumpy 😡 lady!

Hubby and son had to go to an emergency service call, get to the house,go in and take care of the issue only to find out the young boy is extremely sick and they’re from overseas.DH is upset/angry,he doesn’t want to get sick or bring it home to the rest of us.The renters didn’t inform Anyone there was a sick child or that they had been out of the country.Im not worried for me but hubby and gs are both highly susceptible to pneumonia and everything else.

Didn't feel like running today with my cold, so I went for the exact same route, but walked it with DH. Really I think I find running easier than walking. Anyway, good to get some bonus calories in and the fresh air was invigorating.
On the way home we stopped at an artisan bakery and bought four spinach and ricotta pies and a blue cheese focaccia. That's three lunches for the future.
Sun is shining now! Our spring flowers are lovely in the front garden, especially the hyacinths, pink and blue ones. All inherited from the previous owners.

They were madly restocking the toilet roll shelves in the supermarket where we do our shopping. Not much other sign of panic buying. The shelves of some staples like rice were a little depleted, but we got everything we normally buy. There was plenty of fresh fruit/veg, and most things. The checkouts were rather busy, but the car park was definitely less crowded than usual.
I am very aware of how often I touch my face/eyes/mouth at the moment. Trying to stop is a nightmare as the habits are so deeply ingrained.
Heather: Like you, I reckon it's not in my home, and I am taking preventative measure to keep it that way. I mean, how far do you go? Strip off every stitch when you enter the house? Put clothes into washing machine, then shower? A little too extreme? 😂 There are very few reported cases in Northern Ireland so far, but that could change in an instant.
Hubby had an appointment to have his regular prostate test this morning. Receptionist rang him first thing to check that he hadn't been in contact with any one who had recently been abroad. Then they vetted him again before he was allowed into the building. It's good to know that our medical practice is being careful.
Stay safe, everyone.6 -
JRs touches my face more than I do lol 😂. So trillions for JR touching it on top of my touching.
JR grabbed the box of brownies y cake 🎂 he was so excited put it in the ground tried to open them himself. Don’t worry mopped y waxed the floor last night had too all the potty training accidents.
Realized today after someone said something that many of you like my hubby family wears their nasty 😷 out door shoes inside! I was brought up to use rubbing alcohol to washing machine on all kids shoes. We have outdoor shoes y indoor shoes. You do not wear your outdoor shoes inside! Considered Rude by 80% of my family (culture thing). Hubby leaves his shoes outside or on a mat (the fancy ones) .I put JRs outdoor tennis shoes for going to stores y Doctor in a pouch in his closet (Mickey mouse shoes y sandals for indoor/ plain cheap one for going out) .Same with mine like JR got pouch.
JR woke up didn’t want underwear 🩲 he cried so told him sit on potty you can have a diaper.Saved 4 diapers yesterday/1 diaper saved so far today at least.
Hubby did great shopping 🛒 found a lot they had just stocked up luckily. He of course couldn’t get our exact products so some were anything he could find . Giant bag of potato mix to box of brownie mix. We have shifted our shopping 🛒 to what will JR eat mainly. So if worst comes to worst he will eat for sure. The Head Baker wore mask 😷 y gloves 🧤 made it no writing on it handed the birthday cake straight to hubby.4 -
I had an unfortunate trip to Safeway and was involved in a fender bender in the parking lot. The driver of the other car backed into me. I have good photos of the damage to my car and the evident lack of visible damage to the other car. I have been notified that someone wants to sue me for their car damages. I went to my insurance company and they helped me fill out a traffic report for the DMV. She faxed it in right away and they have it now.
The same night as the parking lot fender-bender, DH had a medical problem that needed help from the paramedics. They were brilliant at helping and he is doing fine thanks to their help.
Between the two events, I ended up more than a bit stressed and rattled. Now we wait for the next step for the car repair. I have quite a bit of damage where the other car dented mine that will have to be done in a body shop & we are waiting our turn for the work to be done. My car is still drivable while I wait for my turn for repair.

Eating easy items might cook the steak 🥩 tomorrow morning. Just easy stuff today.
Had a slice of high calorie birthday 🎂 cake with a peanut butter sandwich 🥪. Later not sure.Hubby this ok some of our groceries to his Mom so she doesn’t go out.3 -
