OK, so I keep hearing about this apocalyptic toilet paper shortage going on. Every time I go to the store lately I keep expecting to see empty shelves and rampaging mobs. I haven't seen any of that where I live in Southern California. I've been to both regular grocery stores and club stores. Plenty of supplies on the shelves. No crazed crowds in sight. It's been pretty chill as far as I can see...so far...
P.S. I actually need to get toilet paper soon. Not for hoarding purposes - just for wiping. But I feel a little self-conscious buying it right now. Don't want to spark a panic or get accused of stockpiling.

Walmart.com available in Texas in my location no problem but Chef Barbell says not in Queens NY. Guess you got to check your area for what you can find to what types of delivery is available .
I noticed one site MFP recommendation for wouldn’t send to Texas. Lots here are using it tho from other states. Another MFP sends to Texas but not California.
If you find what works for your state post might help another one of us out in the same state.
Been watching Dr John he updates info he finds is a Doctor in Australia if I remember right. So might not align with your country 100% unless you live there.Gives insite on what the Docs are seeing to what that particular country is trying or doing.

That's Dr. John Campbell, a professor who instructs nurses, and he's in the UK. He is an excellent source of information.
Thanks for sharing this detailed info.1 -

That was supermarkets in Australia since last week, including my own regional town with at present nil cases of coronavirus.
Bizarre.

This was the headline before the Utah Jazz player's test came up positive... guess he made his point.

He must have already been positive during this little stunt, and then all the reporters had to come handle the equipment. *eye roll*2 -

Between him and the congressman who thought it would be funny to wear a gas mask on the floor of Congress and then had to self quarantine, perhaps openly mocking covid-19 is not the best idea. It seems to have a vindictive streak. I hope it hasn't achieved self-awareness19 -
My parents went to Costco and Walmart today in our rural Central VA town looking for paper towels, tp, and Thomas English muffins. Only went home with English muffins. They're going to try CVS tomorrow hoping people haven't bothered to go in their yet lol. The funny thing is everyone here says it's all a hoax, but I guess they're still building a tp fort anyway8

That's what I thought... of all the players to be the first diagnosed!4 -

Did anyone who watched Trump’s address tonite from the Oval Office on coronavirus think he seemed a little wheezy? He was with people a day or two ago that have tested positive for the virus.8

I actually hadn't thought of that. My take was, since he was reading very unnaturally from the teleprompter, that he kept running out of breath in awkward places. Now I wonder...2 -

Keep in mind that is a guy whose odd sniffling has been commented on going way back to the 2016 debates at least.

I'm in NC, where we have 7 reported cases, mostly in Wake County, where my 81 year old mom lives. She volunteers several times a week at an outreach organization, and emailed them yesterday to let them know that she was staying away until the threat is reduced. I am very relieved she did that. She just had a heart valve replaced in mid-January and is still recovering from that. I thought I was going to have a fight on my hands, as I'd called her to suggest she not go.
I live in a county a bit further east and work in a hospital that is part of a larger organization. The emails have been coming hard and fast for the past couple of days. Our state's first presumptive positive came a week ago last Tuesday. We've been told to phone in to meetings with over 50 people, not hoard PPE, etc. Our county does not have any presumptive positive cases to date.
Some genius decided to start a rumor that we had a COVID patient in our emergency department this afternoon. Let me reiterate that we do not at this time. That *kitten* spread like wildfire and I ended up sending a text to my boss to either confirm it or squash it. He squashed it. In the meantime, one of the ladies in our group was in a panic. She is a legit germaphobe. (How she ended up working in a hospital is beyond me, lol. ) But she was honestly freaked out.
To date, I hadn't been terribly concerned about this, tbh. I am aware of the potential of it spreading into our neck of the woods, but I honestly don't think I truly believed that it would, which was apparent by my own inner reaction, which was a really uncomfortable feeling in the pit of my stomach. If I was feeling that? I knew she had to be feeling so much worse. *sits and wonders what she's going to do when it isn't just a rumor*
Our prep at home is that we have enough food and drinkables to get us through two weeks of potentially not being to go out. @GaleHawkins I have pets and I didn't even THINK about food for them, so off to the local Walmart to get a couple really big bags of dog food just to put in the back room "just in case." At work we are behaving as if the virus is already in the building. In healthcare, you have to be aware of hand hygiene, but this has really made all of us hyper-aware of ALL the surfaces we touch (door lock button combos, elevator buttons, doorknobs, stairwells, etc.) and also aware of how often we touch our faces.
I hope everyone stays healthy, does proper hand hygiene, eats well, and doesn't stress over this too much. Scary? Yes, but stress just doesn't do anything for anyone.
I try to avoid using the inside of my hands, to touch things that aren't my personal property. For instance I use my knuckles, to press elevator buttons.
Yes! This! 👍🏼 Yesterday, I used knuckles for the buttons. Today I used the back of my pen, and hit the hand sanitizer dispensers and cleaned the pen, as well. I’m also using the sides of my arm to manipulate push-paddles for doors. I use the heel of my hand for lever knobs and my hips for doors with bar releases. Rather than the hand rails going down the stairs, I use the side of my arm against the walls, as nobody touches them.
Great minds, think alike!2 -

This was a little different... he was becoming breathless and cutting off words. Even my kids asked, "What's the matter with him?"4 -

Is NBA suspending season? Our news is saying yes.
Our police escorted the Jazz in, so they are worried about spreading it to all our police force.
It’s official. OKC has a confirmed corona virus patient. The Jazz player, Rudy Gobert is under the care of an OKC Doctor.
Our state high school tournament games are supposed to start tomorrow afternoon. We don’t know how it will affect them.
Pearl Jam has cancelled their April date here.
Cher just now cancelled her concert here tomorrow night. Would have been in the same Arena as the basketball game, and she didn’t want people coming in to a germy Arena.
The Oklahoma county health department has gone to both teams to test other players.
It shocks me that Cher chose to wait this long to cancel her concert, considering that she has Chronic Fatigue Syndrome {CFS}.1 -

I'd vouch that the best stores to shop at're gonna be those that're limiting quantities, as was true for me. I did've to wait an extra day, for delivery but they were only outta stock of a normal amount of products, that they typically've been. I was able to get, my toilet paper but they didn't have, my Lysol wipes.2

Well, he's a habitual wheezer and sniffer. I didn't notice anything different from his usual breathing/speaking.2 -
NYC St. Patrick's Day parade officially postponed. And all state and NYC colleges are moving to online classes. Now NBA suspending the season. Crazy times.3

There was a minor Jewish holiday yesterday and part and parcel of the celebrations involve a festive meal. My synagogue has one every year (Hubby and I go to a friend's). This year, it was cancelled amid Coronavirus fears.
The day of, my rabbi sent an email blast inviting people to drop in at his house for refreshments, promising two types of alcohol would be present in abundance: wine and hand sanitizer.
(Should probably point out that, at present, there are a total of two confirmed cases in my city, neither of which are in the community.)
Also, after services last Saturday, instead of the refreshments being self-serve, volunteers donned gloves and served out.3 -
Today our entire country (Italy) is shut down. I can only leave my apartment for necessities. All other businesses are closed. There is little to no traffic and few people hurrying down the street. This will last 2 weeks by government decree and I expect a month.
This morning on the front page of one of our newspapers was a picture of a young soccer player in the hospital with a respiratory mask. He said "I thought I was young, healthy and invincible--I was wrong". He also said "All of a sudden, I couldn't breath".
Please don't travel unless absolutely necessary. You will be saving lives--maybe your own.23 -

Well it is actually only the Schengen area that travel has been banned from, there are a number of European countries that are not in the Schengen agreement including the UK, Ireland, Croatia, Romania, Bulgaria and Cyprus. BREXIT has nothing to do with it, we were never part of the Schengen area.4 -
I am glad to see that people are starting to take it more seriously in the US.10

Ireland's governement just annouced closure of all schools, colleges, childcare facilities & cultural institutions from 6pm this evening and people recommended to work from home until 29th March if possible. Shops & Public Transport will operate as normal. Indoor gatherings over 100 people & outdoor gatherings over 500 people banned.1

Then I got home and read about the numerous developments late yesterday evening, and it wasn't quite so funny anymore. I've been cautiously preparing for the possibility of self-quarantine for myself and our family but at the same time not terribly concerned. *kitten* is getting real, though.12 -
Yeah, it's time to mask up and talk to the neighbors and see if the older people on street need me to get things for them. Be kind to each other, we will all need that in the upcoming month. Just stay your distance. Keep pressuring government for more masks and test kits. Not sure it will help at this point but it won't hurt.
I'm lucky, I work from home and have a home gym. Wife is absolutely going stir crazy, though. Two weeks ago, she said I was nuts. She doesn't work, but she's normally busy -- out nearly every day. I ask her not to do that weeks ago. She's now, at least, thanking me. Luckily, we just got bikes, so we can at least ride around the area on our bikes and get out in nature.9 -
My school district is closing tomorrow to give the teachers time to prepare 3 weeks worth of online lessons for our students. It's interesting that my perspective changed so quickly from 'why are people panicking?' to, 'hmmm, is my family ready for this?' My answer is yes, we're ready and I think that my school is probably going to close sometime next week. The cases of Covid are creeping closer and closer to home. Calm on the outside for my students, worried on the inside.6
