STATS:
Age: 28
Height: 168cm
Round: 108 (first time participating)
SW: 111kg
CW: 93.6kg
RGW: 92kg
UGW: 75kg
DAY / WEIGHT / COMMENT
03.18 / 93.6kg / We're on lockdown, advised to stay at home, social businesses are closed, social gatherings are discouraged, so we get no visitors, mostly because me and my kids are all sick (regular seasonal flu). Older one is 3 and a half, younger is a year and two months old, and staying at home all day alone with a huge list of treatments for all three of us has been stressful, trying to be on top of everything for them has left me slide back into emotional eating. We don't keep junk food at home so at least it's nothing like that, but it's noon and I've already shot my calories for the day, and I'm afraid if I slip back into this without hitting the breaks somehow I'll lose the progress from the past month. So I'm happy to have found the challenge and I think having to add those comments will help as well to process things.

SW 242
42yrs old 5’4”
Goal 121- half of my former self
Ultimate Goal- Maintain under 130
3/18- 145.3 this is not a real number, I rarely drink but I had a few cocktails last night so I’m super dehydrated. Lol I’m a little hung over so now I’m going to eat too much and lay around a bunch. Lol I predict up 5lbs tomorrow.

Started MFP 12/27/19 - Heaviest Weight Ever - 186.0
Round 100 -7.6 lbs (actually 12 days - includes the 2 initial days on MFP)
Round 101 -1.9 lbs
Round 102 -1.5 lbs
Round 103 +2.5 lbs
Round 104 -2.6 lbs
Round 105 -0.6 lbs
Round 106 -0.4 lbs
Round 107 -0.7 lbs
Round 108 Goal: Just try to keep my head in the game with everything going on. That's it - if I can do that then I succeeded this round. It's easy to lose perspective when all of a sudden losing weight seems trivial compared to everything else. But I'm keeping in mind it's about being healthy and strong (emotionally, mentally and physically) and that takes on even more importance now.
03/17: 173.2 (end of round 107)
03/18: 173.4 Starting round up but it's normal fluctuation so no worries.
When I joined this group, I thought it was all about losing weight but now know it's much more than that. The support here is amazing during normal times but takes on even more importance during hard times. It's comforting to know you have a group of people that are so caring and kind and we can help each other during this difficult time. I'm so glad people are relaying what's going on in their state/country and their own personal stories. It keeps us connected (around the world) when we are physically in isolation.
Stay safe!
Debra
Short-Term Goal: Back into the 160's!
Long-Term Goal: Don't wear sweat pants or ANY pants with elastic for an entire year! I don't even know what a belt is any more!

@zaraizzy1 Happy Birthday!! I’m sorry you’re home alone sick and hope you get well soon.
@jamfullhouse I homeschool as well and my husband is getting a lot of questions about it at work because they’ve shut down schools here for the rest of this school year. I think because it’s government ordered they will still get credit for the year, but if nothing is done I suspect next year will be a struggle for a lot of them. I really feel sorry for the kids whose college plans may be affected by all this.

@zaraizzy1 I hope your birthday is a great, peaceful day! Feel better!!6

3/18 - 180.8
In a weird way I’m fine with holding steady within a pound of 180 for the past 5 weeks. I’m no longer gaining as I was, my metabolism is settling down, and I’m getting a good sense of what my maintenance calories really are. I haven’t been exercising much but as the weather warms up I’ll get back to walking long distances and I’m planning to expand one garden and plant a new herb garden (assuming the nurseries are open), so that will help. I also have some house painting (inside) left to do, so if I can keep my calories steady, I should start to lose again. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it. Now to shake this stupid cold! I hope you’re all finding ways to stay calm and healthy and in touch through these chaotic times.

03/18 - DNW - I honestly forgot about it. I have an ick "head cold" (not the virus, its from the sudden change with allergies to/from TX). Just a slightly stuffy nose and some mucus that's drained to my throat. Woke up with cotton mouth and chugged water before I ever even got out of bed. Forgot I was going to weigh in today until I got out of bed a few minutes later. Oops! I think I know where my claritin is and I'm going in search of it through the packing madness in my house. Definitely need to focus on my water, I'm so dehydrated. My skin and body are showing it (like giving myself a bloody lip this AM when it cracked from dryness). I'm sure it'll also help with hunger as yesterday I could NOT be satisfied. I'd eat and still be hungry. It was madness. Today should be better, especially with water. Going to make some tea, as well, for caffeine since I already packed and moved my coffee pot. Body slowly adjusting to less and less caffeine throughout this, at least. I will weigh in 2 more days and then hopefully have a chance next week sometime once I start unpacking. I'd like to see some progress during this round, but only time will tell...

@jamfullhouse You reminded me of growing up on the farm with your post. I miss it so so much. When I found out I was moving to TX, I decided I was going to try to garden. Unfortunately, we rent, so I'm working on research while I'm remotely working for what will grow best in pots. Your post definitely fueled that little spark inside of me that has been impatient to provide for myself, so thank you.9

03/18 - 361.8 - Good news. My interview on Monday went well. Better news. I have applied for several positions with state (PA) and federal gov't. One position with the state just got back to me and said I scored a 100 on their test. Now I'm just a bit excited. Getting a job with either means I can use my time in the Air Force towards retirement. I'll have to work until I'm 72, but hey... it does take a huge weight off my shoulders. Bittersweet news... My mom has lived with me for the past 20+ years. We recently found out she has early stage dementia. But the state is saying she now qualifies for in-home health care. Which means that while I am at work, someone will be here most of that time. This would be another huge weight off my shoulders. I had to reset my scale and it jumped up. Not happy, but let's see how it goes for the next few day.

Welcome @penguinstuff I have found daily checking in here to be a good thing and since I am an extrovert, I need to interact with people. This has been a great source!
Thanks @GrandmaJackie for keeping us all going. Glad you got away for abit.
@kecward78 Congrats on the interview and so glad that your mom will have help while you work.10 -

If you can't find yeast, you could try sourdough, it will take a while for it to get going but if looking long term, it is a great way to make bread. I use to do it all the time but my kids are grown up and I don't need all that bread. If you can't find a recipe online, let me know and I can get you one. If you don't want to feed it everyday, you can put it in the frig and feed it once a week.

Round 108
Please join us! Starting on 03/18 JUST GIVE ME 10 DAYS, we will begin Round 108
Anyone can join us at anytime during the round.
Join us! If we stay mindful we can do this, you can do this.
Welcome back past members, welcome new members, let's keep each other accountable for another 10 days!
Here is what you do: Post your daily weight and add little comments along the way of how your day went. Post everyday to let us know how you're doing! Copy and paste the days in your response--tell us how much you lost and other non scale victories (NSV) you'd like to share.
FOR NEWBIES - I find it easiest to copy the dates to a document or note in my device and edit it each morning. Then copy and paste to the message board. MFP will return you to the spot on the board where you left off on your previous visit which is nice to know if you like to scan all of the posts.

03/18 157.1 ~ {Steps TBD} ~ Taking one day at a time, yesterday was extremely stressful but I didn’t go to food, yay! It turns out my daughter is working from home this week. This helps since I can be home with my husband this week.

3/18 192.2 Happy to start with a loss! Am down and blue this morning—didn’t sleep well, my daughter was laid off with the rest of her company, so this at least is something nice to think about. Working hard to get exercise in and keep calories green. Can’t let the blues mess with progress...

03/18- 177.8 - Definitely water weight but I'll take it. I had been feeling bad about gaining 5 extra pounds so I'm happy to see a slightly lower number. But need to keep chipping away otherwise it'll come back. I crushed my goals yesterday even though I felt a bit hungry after dinner I stayed strong lol. Today I promise myself to eat exactly as I planned again and also get on that elliptical for 30 minutes.

Oh yes, thank you. I would love to have a recipe that I can be sure of! I did finally find yeast. I only need yeast bread until Passover. Afterwards I'll be able to do the sourdough starter. I've never used it before. I don't need a lot of bread either, but I could share it. Things could get pretty rough in light of what's going on in the world.💕

R108 SW 132.6kg
Day | Weight | Change | Comment
03/18 | 132.6kg | No change | Busy day at work and had visitors all evening/night. My mum came in to town ready to babysit my son today, so I picked my sister up on my way home from work and brought her to my place as well so we could all catch up. Later, my dad also decided to come into town but he didn't arrive until about 9:30pm. So it was a late dinner and a few beers, I was expecting a rise on the scale. On the bright side, I didn't snack after work and I didn't have dessert. Got all my water in, but no exercise. Hubby out of town for a day trip today, will see how shopping goes - we normally do an online order that he can just pick up, but they have cancelled that service at the moment so that is frustrating. Stay safe, everyone!
03/19 | 132.7kg | +0.1kg | Made homemade pizzas on wrap bases last night, they were delicious and much lighter than the normal dough bases I make, but I think my sodium was very high as a result (perhaps I should choose a more healthy topping than pepperoni...). Only drank 2L of water too so that also wouldn't help. No exercise as I'm still trying to shake this cold off. Our supermarket shelves were bare when I went yesterday afternoon - no TP, soaps, potatoes, bread, pasta, rice, tissues, canned vegetables, flour, ready-to-make packet meals, cheese, milk...nothing. This was Wednesday afternoon. Our store gets one delivery a week, on Tuesdays. So I don't expect to find anything on the shelves for the next week, which is ridiculous. What's happening, as the cities stock out, people are coming further and further out into the rural areas to wipe our shelves clean too. Their stores get deliveries daily, but they can't wait that long. I don't know what I'm going to feed my one year old toddler by the end of the week, unless they happen to get another delivery in (which they have to pay the freight for, so they won't do that as they don't make enough profit to cover it). I really don't understand how people can be so selfish. It's not a production issue, there is plenty of product available, it's just distribution is the issue - they can't keep the deliveries up to the stores because the demand is increasing exponentially! People are literally panicking over nothing. They're panicking because the media is telling them to. I wish the media would just stop covering all of this and just report the statistics and whereabouts of the virus, nothing more. It's so stupid, people being worried that something is going to stock out, so they buy as much as they can, causing it to stock out. If everyone just stuck to their normal buying, it wouldn't even be an issue but no, people are selfish and greedy.
Sorry for the rant, I'm just extremely frustrated with people.

@tiabirdie56 I live near the Amish community and there is usually Amish Friendship Bread starters floating around. It requires no yeast and you can add to make flavors such as banana nut, lemon, and others using pudding mixes too. Each batch you use some to make your bread and share some starters with others. You can keep some of the extras too for the different flavors. The starter recipe and instructions are probably online. If I find them or can get them from the local Amish, I will email you a link (or a recipe).
@zaraizzy1 Happy Birthday. With this challenge you are NEVER ALONE. We celebrate with you! I hope you will feel better soon also.6 -

03/18 DNW Sorry I pretty much fell off the last round. I just didn't have the energy to track or journal. I'm just going to log weight for now. Between Mom's abdominal mass discovery and COVID-19, I'm losing track of life these days. I work in healthcare for a VERY large company. Things were starting to get stressful last week and then Monday the 16th all hell seemed to break loose. I don't have an option to work from home. We are still seeing patients but hopefully switching to telehealth visits, soon. Each day things seem to change. All elective surgeries are postponed. Specialists aren't seeing folks unless they are post-op. Radiology was still scheduling diagnostics but last I heard yesterday, therapy locations were postponing 2wks out. There is a limit of 1 visitor/support person per patient. Schools are closed. College commencements are cancelled. Dorms are even being cleared OUT. Restaurants, bars, and gyms were closed the other day. Today Governor DeWine announced closing barbershops, spas, salons, and BMV's. Banks are closing lobbies. Grocery stores are about the only things open.
Mom's biopsy came back as "Malignant Solitary Fibrous Tumor" so we met with her new surgical oncologist today. She has a rare type of sarcoma. It is slow growing. She is currently scheduled for exploratory surgery w/ possible bowel resection on April 21st but that could change. She is feeling pretty positive about what the surgeon had to say today. One day at a time!

03/17 …..200.4….. ENDING WEIGHT LAST ROUND
03/18 …..200.4….. Michigan has gone crazy. In 48 hours we have went from 2 cases to 110. 25 of those cases in the last 2 hours. I’ve cancelled all my non-essential dr appointments as requested by our governor. Business in my motel & cabins is down to zero as it’s not recommended for folks to travel. This morning we had our first Coronavirus death in Michigan-a male in his 50’s. They’ve closed the borders between Michigan and Canada as a joint effort between countries and that includes our Detroit entrance. If I put on the 24 hour news stations (CNN or FoxNews) it just about scares me to death. So I am going to try to check in and stay informed but use my time for some much needed projects that I should get done while I have the time. So far, no cases within 100 miles of me. That is how far our closest hospital basically is. I plan on going out only when I have to at this point. I am a high-risk individual-turning 60, diabetic and in remission with cancer. Better safe than sorry. For myself, but for all others as well. On the diet front, at this point I am just watching my quantities and putting more thought into the best course. Stay safe everyone!

@GrandmaJackie Thanks for setting us up again.
On general self-isolation. Did weekly grocery shopping today. Some shortages, but I got what I wanted. I always have a food store of dry foods, and we have stuff in the freezer. Northern Ireland has some supermarkets opening first 2 hours for over us 70s, so that helped the situation today
UK schools are closing indefinitely on Friday.
Take care everyone. 💕💖💕General goal is to maintain below 150, and trend slowly downward to 145.Never give up! Never give in!
The downward trend is a bit slow for my liking, but at least it's is still downward.
Looking forward:
- March: I need to focus on getting back to where I was pre-Christmas
- 2020: Goal is to stabilise weight around 145
- Strengthen strategies to reframe the tendency to use unhealthy snack food as a reward/treat.
- Make sure I have prepared healthy snacks available
- Cut down on eating between meals
Back Story:2018:2020
My goal was to get down below 160, to allow me to enjoy the indulgences of holidays and celebrations.
2019:
I exceeded that and have been below 150 for most of the last 2 months.
In 2018, I put on 10 lbs over the last 2 months of the year.
In 2019, I consistently lost weight since the end of July. I put on about 4lbs over the Christmas break, but was still below my original 2019 goal.
That's a WIN in my book!
Focus: maintenance! I might even manage to lose a bit more ever so slowly.

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieving permanent change.
REMINDERS One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.
