Annie - Might try Leslie Sansone walking in place. I think you can find some of her stuff on YouTube or buy CDs. "Walk Away the Pounds". I have used some of hers and like them.

Amber I’m scared to trim our dogs nails as they are black and I fear to cut the quick.
Annie, neither do I quite have the using strengths daily homework down yet. Are you using the app? My strengths came out as Gratitude, Honesty and Forgiveness. Are we to pick one and practice daily for a week? Or pick one and practice different way each day for a week? Or??? Nor do I have the tracking app down [sigh] and not yet inspired to figure it out. I enjoy listening to the Professor tho’
Michele at this point no roadblocks here. Park entrances are blocked with cones. Don’t know how police will enforce, imagine someone would have to be pretty flagrant to get their attention.
Evelyn good to see you post. Like you I’m a shopping warrior with the weekly newspaper fliers and coupons. I am surprised at how much I miss shopping… and eating in restaurants. Reconciled my credit card bill and started to cry thinking that was the last time I’d dine in that particular restaurant. Knew I’d miss the people in BB&B, dog group, church and line dancing. But shopping and restaurants? Somebody’s got the blues.

An interesting ... and quite realistic ... read:
Coronavirus across the world: What happens next?

"When will normalcy return?
The answer is simple.
We don’t know. But we know what it will take.
We can only hit the streets again in the same way we did back in January once some 80 per cent of the population has resistance to COVID19.
And you only get that once you’ve had the disease and recover.
Or, you get a vaccination.
.
.
.
Australia can only open for business once again when the risk can be managed. And that won’t be easy.
It will need all-encompassing testing. Massive contact tracing. Isolating the infected.
This could entail privacy-intruding surveillance and monitoring that goes against our democratic grain.
And it could last up to two years."2 -

I need an intro level low impact aerobic exercise. Maybe just marching in place? Would that replace five minutes on the elliptical at the gym? I am trying to strengthen a weak knee and burn calories at home. I already do dumbbells and calisthenics on Tuesday Thursday Saturday, but I used to do the gym Monday Wednesday Friday. 5 minutes rowing, 5 min elliptical, 10 min treadmill then 10 mins bike. But not anymore 😔.

How unstable is your knee, Annie? That's your limiting factor, I take it?. Did you know that the original step classes (low impact, low step) were designed by a knee surgeon for his patients to rehab after surgery? It would be really fun to have ZOOM line-dancing classes with Barbie, but that's a pipe dream. Also, just walking or biking outside, if possible, should do the trick. Kettlebells can be very aerobic, and really tighten/strengthen the core, the butt, & the thigh muscles that support your dodgy knee. You can use a dumbbell if you don't have a kettlebell. Heather jogs, even though her knee is tricky.

Amber I was recommending soap y water for washing your hands after changing JR. Concerning your severely eczematous baby, dermatologists often recommend Cerave or Cetaphil for bathing; y Cutemol or Aquaphor for a daily grease-up, after bath, y for diaper area after changing. No need to put any type of soap on that boy ever. Especially love Cutemol.

Barbara Thank you. I'm excited about the turn my career has taken at this stage of my life. Who knew? I loved the snoring meditation, LOL!!! And the video of the a cappella group singing Bridge Over Troubled Water that came up next was transcendent.
I'm a bit fascinated by Project Aunt Elsie's Stove. Are you going to post photos eventually?
I use Zen Nail Clippers for dog nails. Some people use a Dremel, but my dogs would never tolerate that. If you have 2 people and a focused LED light, your helper can transilluminate the nail to silhouette the 'quick'.

The Science of Well-Being - VIA Character Strength Report:
Top 4 strengths: Perspective, Social Intelligence, Creativity, and Kindness.
Bottom 4: Curiosity, Gratitude, Bravery, and Prudence.
This week I made a major career decision. It took Perspective, Social Intelligence, and Creativity, (three of my top strengths), but also Curiosity and Bravery, two of my weakest areas. Maybe I'm braver than I know!
To those taking this course: I'm adapting the course to suit myself. Right now, I'm trying to use (& notice) when I use a strength, and I'm focusing on savors & gratitudes.
Savor/Gratitude:
Savor: delicious juicy mango with lime & salt
Gratitude: my generous partner, who is donating a Mac Pro, large monitor, and her lovely office to me for my new career. She is doing almost all of her work downstairs now in a recliner on a work laptop due to Achilles tendon slow healing/difficulty with stairs.
Another Gratitude: my son got a dozen eggs for me today and will bring them to my garage tomorrow. I'll wave at him from the doorway. He'll take a box of frozen Chinese dumplings for my 11-year-old swimming granddaughter. I taught her how to steam them 'just so' in the IP and now I've created a dumpling monster. Mom supervises, of course, but granddaughter is pretty adept at using kitchen gadgets.
Another Gratitude: my 13-year-old grandson called me today to tell me he'd finished reading Lord of the Flies for school. I was really wanting him to read the whole thing (or have it read to him), because it's a big part of his 8th grade English course this semester. I said, "It's dark, isn't it? And the timing!…" And he said, "Yeah. It is. I liked it." This is not as sad as it sounds. Acknowledging the dark side of his psyche & bringing it into the light of day actually helps him not to secretly dwell there. I told him I was really proud of him for finishing it (he tends to blow his reading assignments off), and I could tell he was proud of himself. For those that don't know or remember, he has autism. I am Learning Coach, but now his mom is Taskmaster because C-19 is keeping us all home. I send a weekly checklist that helps keep him on track, but Mom is working really hard as Learning Coach, and teaching her own 6th grade class remotely, and helping 5th grade granddaughter with her schoolwork whenever needed. She deserves more than a medal. And Dad (my son) is working upstairs in his home office. It must be a little bit tense over there.

Today's Gratefulness List
- I am grateful for another day of life.
- I am grateful for the technology that has allowed us to keep informed, in touch, and entertained during this challenging time.
- I am grateful for my court yard. It is just large enough to be easily maintained, yet large enough to provide a space for a very early morning walk. It is also a place where I can get my hands in the soil which has always been a source of contentment for me.
- I am grateful I was finally able to find TP!!
- I am grateful for the relationship with my brother, however strained. We had a good call yesterday remembering our parents, our early lives, and how being welfare kids assisted us in knowing how to live without.
Background: My relationship with my brother has always been one fraught with being polar opposites of decisions on the lines of right and wrong. He has survived by taking advantage of people while I have survived by working for and towards the things I need and want. Over the course of our lives we have started and stopped our relationship for numerous reasons the primary one neither has learned to agree to disagree and judgement of each other's decisions. Since both of our parents have passed we have begun to learn to walk the fine line of not hitting on the sore points and trying to establish a balance that works for both of us. Our relationship will never be idyllic which I do believe we both realize. Yet, I do feel it is cathartic for us to be able to share our upbringing and to connect when we are able to do so in a positive manner.7 -
Still catching up, about 5 days behind
We have been "advised" to stay in and only go out when necessary - for food, to pick up medication, to care for a vulnerable person and to exercise. The police are able to stop people and ask why they are out. A second person has died here in York. It is all quite worrying. I go out every day to check on my mum, but luckily she lives close by so I don't have to venture too far. I only go to the local shops (stopped going to Asda, too many people and not enough stock on shelves!) I shop for mum too and pay her bills at the local shops, she hasn't got a debit card or cheque book so pays everything in cash. Not sure what she will do if she runs out of money, I don't know if the banks are open, and also don't really want her going into the town centre to the bank. Might have to ring their helpline for advice.
Thanks to the person who mentioned petrol pumps. I'll have to remind both son and daughter to use gloves or paper towels when filling up with petrol.
DD and I are very careful disposing of dog poo on our dog walk, we use a stick or the poo bag to open the poo bin.
We've stopped touching gates to fields on our dog walk, in fact we have to stay quite close to home now, and not take the dog in the car to walk her (like we usually did) but we try not to touch anything and if we see other people, we cross over the road.
We've even been advised to wash the handles of our wheely bins once they have been emptied by the dustbin men!
So many things that we've not had to think of before, but just shows how complacent we have become.
It's not all doom and gloom, the sun has been shining and I have been decluttering and keeping busy so haven't been bored at all. I too have been watching Midsomer Murders Glad that your friend in York is doing okay Heather.
Had my first Zoom meeting with the Ladies Who group yesterday only to find that my PC doesn't have a webcam or audio, DS gave me his headset with a microphone on it, so I could see them and heard them for the last 15 mins or so. I could type some snippets in but they were so giddy and all talking at once it was hard to keep up It was like an episode of Loose Women! Next time I'll use my laptop as it has a webcam but not sure about audio, I'll have to ask DS to leave his headset just in case.
I've been exercising every morning at 9am with Joe Wicks on YouTube so I'm aching like crazy,
Hope everyone is keeping well, need to get moving.
Love to all

Thank you all for the interesting articles, the lovely grand baby pictures, the selfies, the puppy pics, and coping/support posts. To think when this group was started we never thought there would be times like this and were ahead of the curve of social distancing and using technology of a way to keep in touch and being in support of one another.
To say yesterday was exhausting is an understatement. Being awake at 2:30 am was just the start of it. After catching up with some household items and getting the morning routine completed I started my rounds based upon when the various stores opened up.
I was at the bank getting a little cash at 5:25 and then in the line at Home Depot at 5:30. I was the first in line and had 30 minutes to kill. Decided I would step in place and make good use of the time. Slowly but surely the line got longer and it was nice to see people were practicing social distance.
After Home Depot it was off to Walmart's Family Grocery or whatever they call themselves. The store opens at 7:00 am. I am not a fan of Wally World for too many reasons to list here, but during times like this we cannot always stand on principal. Again, I was 30 minutes early and this time second in line. Another nice conversation and taking advantage of the time in line by stepping in place.
My third stop was Publix our local (and one of the best) grocery stores. The store opened at 8:00 am and I found I was another 30 minutes early. I was third in line and as people started to line up there were a few conversations one almost turned ugly when politics were brought up. I had to play referee......simply told the folks if we are going to raise voices we are not having an intelligent conversation and an exchange of beliefs so I think we should change the conversation. The "two" grumbled a little and would not look at each other but I was able to defuse the situation. Again, I stepped in place during all of this because why not?
I was able to get almost everything on my list. Some the items not found were paper towels, hand sanitizer or sanitizing wipes, or regular flour. I could not find plain yogurt either. All of these items I can live without. Let's face it - we are shelter in place and all have workarounds.
Finally got home. After carrying everything in to the court yard, wiping down perishables, getting things in the front door, stripping down, washing up to get stuff in the refrigerator, showering, going back in to the court yard, wiping the rest down and putting it away, washing and wiping again, starting laundry, etc. It was 10:30 am and I had almost 12,000 steps in. And, to think I still had to log in, work, and find some time to throw something together to eat. TG I was smart enough to pick up some prepackaged luncheon meats. Lunch meat is not on my normal things to purchase but figured those prepackaged ones have a longer shelf life and can be added to things like a salad or omelet when I want a little meat.
Near the end of the day we received an email from the company president. It stated those of us who can and are working remotely should plan on doing so until May 4th and if we work for other divisions (me) our leaders will provide guidelines. Our president has scheduled a town hall on April first (yes, April Fool's day). I imagine the same request will be forthcoming. I also imagine based upon the local and national news we may be remote well past May 4th, but am remaining hopeful we will see a downward trend by then.
I guess I am glad I have not yet gotten rid of the desk in my guest room. Part of this weekend will be spent creating an official office place. I typically work at my kitchen counter and move in to the living room or court yard for a change. This is fine for the times where I had to work remote for an extended period of time (10 days being the longest). But, yesterday I realized I never really feel "away" from work because my laptop sits plugged in and ready to go on the kitchen counter and taking up my down time space. It is a constant reminder. With an official "office" I can keep things plugged in and ready to go, but do not have to view them all of the time. And since I am wireless I can always move to the living room, court yard or counter if I want a change of scenery.
I hate saying this, but I will be making a trip out to the nursery today. I "want" to pick up a few more flowers to brighten the courtyard and am in need of some starter herbs. It will be my last trip out for a while. Yesterday put me in a great place to be able to shelter for at least three months for most things except fresh vegetables. I will blanch most of what I purchased and freeze and will also look for some hot weather lettuces at the nursery to supplement my meals.
I hope everyone has had or is having a good day.
Hugs to all and prayers to those in need.

Good Saturday!
Work could be crazy today.......hopefully folks are patient. The weather is calling for thunderstorms. Not good if we have to be outside. I think I will wear my butterfly rain boots. They make me smile and will keep my feet dry. We are staying steady which is better than some businesses, so for that I am thankful.
I promised husband I would list things on eBay for him this weekend. He has asked several evenings but I have been worn out. He has been patient. We are needing milk but should be okay this weekend. I really don't want to go to store on weekend.
Someone asked flavor/name of my fluffy dog. She is Sara. She is Great white Pyrenees mixed with Golden retriever. She is around 75 pounds and a teddy bear. She cleans her paws constantly and is rarely dirty. She is an old lady at 12.5 years. My in laws had Newfoundland dogs when I met my husband. They were larger than Sara and slobbered lots! But Alex and Bear were awesome! I am thankful for my Sara, but still not sure about when we might get more. I am sure that time will come as we have never been without a dog for longer than 2 months in 25 years. I do know when the time is right we will once again look at the shelters.
Just saw on the news that they think type A blood types are at more risk than type O according to ongoing research in Wuhan. Just found it interesting. They did say preliminary research, so don't panic.
When we started 2020 we all expected a year of change.........not so sure we could have dreamed up the changes currently happening in our crazy busy and normally mobile world. Activities that we took for granted. Freedoms we enjoyed. I am thankful that some have had a chance to slow down. I am hopeful that many will learn to be better citizens of their communities. 2020 will be a year to remember for sure.
Has anyone else noticed the lack of robberies, murders, etc on the news? Are they happening less or just not as important as Covid? I will say I am not missing the political commercials!
Better get ready for work and feed Miss Sara.
I love all the tips, information, sharing, and caring you all provide.
Stay safe!
❤

We have an announcement!!
My husband and I have become “parents” of a little black boy cat called “Rhody”!!!!
He’s almost 7 months old.
We got him from an organisation called Ten Lives, so he’s been de-sexed and has had all his vaccinations, etc.
We didn’t know who we’d end up with … just decided to go in and meet the kitties and see who chose us!
When I picked Rhody up, he started purring very loudly and we felt we’d been chosen! 😊
Photos of Rhody, flowers and the area around here:

I’ve missed the last week…..Lots of posts to catch up on….Sending best wishes and prayers to all…
My biopsy: I have a genetic skin condition called lichen planus. I have two types of topical cream with cortisteroids. The doctor gave me a shot of prednisone to help with the itching which it did to a degree. The bottom line is that I have to live with it and really try not to scratch the itch. It is just ugly and each spot looks like a scabby wound. So my summer clothing choices are maxi or midi length dresses or pants as I have a large out break on one leg. The outbreaks can take a year to 18 months to clear up. DH has to apply it to my backside and areas I can't reach. He has tried to make it funny by saying that we have foreplay every evening. All I can say is "Bless his heart, just bless his heart." Because with all this itching foreplay is the last thing on my mind. Then when he is finished applying the cream I feel like a greased pig!
I’m with Ginny in Ohio, transitioning to an electronic teleworking system is brutal. I work for Medicaid and we are doing everything we can to ensure that people are able to have financial insurance in order to get the medical services they need. Luckily the agency has supplied all the equipment needed to work from home (cell phone, lap top, docking station, additional monitor, keyboard, etc.). I am missing face-to-face interactions with my team but we are doing lots and lots of texting, conference calls, and meeting hangouts.
DH works for USPS and is now on a 58 hour per week schedule. That's been physically hard on us as his reporting time is 4 am. But we are adjusting. Now when the clock goes off at 3 am I've adjusted to turn it off, shake him, and go back to sleep before he has gotten out of the bed.
Katla: Sorry to hear about your parking lot mishap. DH just got his car back from his mishap. OMG! I thought he was going to lose his mind and cause me to lose mine as well. Although he had a 2019 Dodge Charger it just did not suit him. He wanted his 2015 Cadillac back!
Virginia is hunkering down with all non essential businesses closed. I've been ordering groceries for pickup or curbside delivery and that has worked well so far. The TP crisis is everywhere but I think we will manage. Otherwise, we will use wash clothes too.
Food for thought: When this is over there will be lots of clean houses, lots of babies and lots of divorces.

Update: I've convinced myself it is not in my best interest to go out to the nursery. I was out yesterday and it's in everyone's best interest for me to bunker down. When I need something or physical human interaction I will go out during a week day during an off time. Yesterday was the second time in 11 days that I left the neighborhood and I am not worse for wear because of it. Plenty enough to do around here and I'm still a little tired from yesterday's foray.6

Machka Congratulations! I love kitties!
Tere I hope you find some relief. I love your husband's comment-lol! I was crying this past winter because I put on 3 pairs of jeans that wouldn't go over my backside. As I was lamenting that I got fat, he told me no I wasn't, the dryer shrunk my jeans! Bless his heart! I did remove those jeans from my closet!

My mother is going shopping again. She says she is just going to pick up wipes at the dollar store. She would not let me go in her place. I told her she might well need to go to three or four stores to find wipes but she thinks I'm wrong. So hard to reason with her. She said she can fight off a virus. She will come back full of germs, wash her hands once, and feel fine so she will do it again. Nothing I can do. After the news last night she said she would stay home but that didn't last. She really shouldn't drive in the rain to begin with. So frustrated!

I am starting to get feedback on the mask I am using. One person was concerned it contained fiberglass. The type of filter I am using does not. I would make me nervous if my furance filter contained fiberglass. That would mean fiberglass particles would be blowing around my house. Makes me want to double check the brand of furnace filter I buy.2

Thanks for the exercise tips! I will try to do a video with my phone tomorrow.3

I feel your pain. Major agrument with DH because I went to grocery store instead of him. I bought the wrong kind of bagels. Once I calmed down after a walk. I told him their were only about ten bagels left and this was the only brand. New reality for awhile we may not get the brand we want, but to be grateful to find what we want at all. They were all out of eggs at the store I went to. Fortunately we didn't need them. We also have a neighbor who has a restaurant that had to close and they have 15 dozen eggs. He also wanted his kind of sweet roll. No go there either. One success is I found his rye bread. My DH is not good about washing his hands either. I posted a big sign as we enter our home saying WASH YOUR HANDS. The poster I saw in proper hand washing fits the song I posted a few weeks ago. I did forget one line. Thumb Thumb Thumbkin clean. you encircle your thumb and give it a good scrub.
I will put it on my list to make a video singing that song to wash your hands. I will check to see it might already be done. I did learn last night that my shares only go to my friends on FACEBOOK unless I designate the post to go public. I did this with my making of my face mask. I am learning somethng new everyday.4 -
Hard since the new rules are not the same everywhere but our fur babies, feathered babies,y reptilian babies need us to care for them with in some areas less y less resources.
I love black cats Ive owned so many of them y a few Oreo ones . Lol 😂 most people are superstitious but I find them to be the most loving to unique ones.
Cities to any town lucky enough to have one - Petco is still open can check with them when you bring your pet whether their still nail trimming to hair.
-Vets a few have emergency phone numbers taking pets for elderly customers curb side on certain days to care for it (some cities their still open)
- Animal shelters can call some are kind enough if you explain your age fear of cutting you don’t get the jerk there they will say come in will do it
- If nothings available can let the nail grow out some more then cut the tip only when it’s that length again repeat.
- Over grown nails on a dog or some elderly indoor cats that don’t have outdoor time on surfaces that they can wear it down with can become dangerously over grown after a certain amount of time. Since we’re the honorable pet owners many have had their nails done enough that it can go a little longer if need be before a trim. If their too long can split or curve into the pad even make walking difficult. If you never had to get it done but no longer able to take long walks due to new rules in your area may have never been a problem but could be now. If you scheduled it every certain number of appointments with a vet you know your pet falls in that category after 1 missed appointment even.
