Shoe rant: Went to Brooks running to try to order some new Adrenaline's. The don't have my size in the GTS 20's! Boo. Found one pair of the GTS 19s in my size. And they were on sale - $50 off. Yeah! Go to order them and it won't take my credit information....says it is incorrect. I did get a new credit card that I hadn't activated yet, but I thought maybe that was it. So, I called to activate it and tried again, putting the new information in. Nope. It still won't take it. So, I try to call Brooks to see if they can help, as they say that is the only pair they have left and I don't want to lose them. The recording says "We are currently closed. Our hours are 8 - 5 PST." It's 7:10 at my house, which means it's only 4:10 PST! Geeze. Not my day. I just gave up, so probably will not get those shoes tomorrow. I'm bummed and frustrated!

The little critter stayed there most of the day until mama came and collected him near sunset. We were working in the yard most of the day, so I guess we kept him safe from any predators.3 -

Cloudy, low 60s F, with a little breeze from the southeast. Heard toads singing today, so spring must really be here. Tried to run at an easy pace but a moderate speed, if that makes any sense. Legs were a little tired in the last kilometer, but nothing too bad. I saw a walker with an umbrella and chastised her for carrying that bad luck with her -- I did get drizzled on.
I really appreciate @kgirlhart giving me all the shots at glory for the Pavement Pounders. We went over 1,000 miles today.
When you pop in here claiming your December 2020 mileage, what accomplishments will you have made?
Return to a good running weight of 175 lbs

Realized late last night that I owe the Brooks staff an apology. They are only open M-F. It was Saturday. Who knew? It's hard to keep track these days. Still frustrated about the credit card not going through though. I'll try again this afternoon. Don't have the time or heart for it this morning.

No run for a week due to bad AQ. Easy 10km in the early morning. It was 15°C (60F), and I'm pretty sure this is going to be the last cool/cold run this season. Weather forecast has 39C (102F) in the books for next week. I am so not ready for it to be summer yet.6 -

Thanks @quilteryoyo ! He is very talented with the camera. I gave him my "old" Canon DSLR when I upgraded to the SL3 used here and he gets some great shots with it or really any camera.
I tried a few times to set up a webpage for him so that he could show off his work, but so far he has not wanted to take advantage of it.1 -

I keep telling people it is the day before tomorrow, and if they press I tell them it is the day after yesterday. For some reason, this does not seem to satisfy them.

Yesterday I ran 13.6 miles with a couple of friends in a nearby city (Johnson City) for a change of scenery. I walked outside at 6 am this morning and couldn’t resist getting out in the beautiful weather so I ran 4.6 miles. Part of it included doing a couple of errands for my mom. I delivered a bag of seed beans to my neighbor about a half mile from me (left them hanging in a bag on her mailbox) and then some genealogy papers to my dad’s cousin about a mile further down the road (left them in an envelope in the paper box). Heading out for a bike ride after lunch. Hope everyone has a great Sunday (or Monday for some)!

I really enjoy reading everybody's posts, and wanted to note that I think of tons of interesting things to post about during my runs. But by the time I get back, that information has evaporated.
Very slow, easy paced 10 miles this morning. Was raining when I went to bed Friday night, and never stopped until after I ate breakfast this morning (Sunday)! So planned around where I knew there would be standing puddles. Was successful for the most part. I think these new shoes have been on 1 dry run since I got them May 2.

You couldn't ask for a more beautiful morning. 50 degrees with a light breeze and blue sky. I was tired but had some company for the long run along the canal so it went okay. The last mile was rough but I was really happy to get over 10 miles in for the first time in months.

@Teresa502 That's cool that you did so many errands in one run! I did one run this week to the "Amazon Locker" to pick up a parcel. I sometimes do that, as there and back is almost exactly 5km. Only this time I realised when the locker opened that the delivery was not only my new cell phone case, but rather the 5kg of cherry pits that I had ordered for sewing heat packs. Made for a fun run back ^^

@quilteryoyo Hard to keep track of days - a friend recently sent me a link to a youtube song about that. We have video meetings from the home office at different times on different days - 14h on Monday, 16h on Tuesday, 13h30 on Wednesday, 11h on Thursday, 11h15 on Friday. No idea how it ended up messed up like this, but I set recurring phone alarms accordingly, and it helps me keep track of the weekdays too

Four runs for me this week:
Tuesday 5/12/2020 5.4 km (40:54) - about half of it carrying a 5kg sack of cherry pits
Thursday 5/14/2020 13.1 km (1:39:07) long run - unexpectedly sunny and I was dressed too warm. I was really struggling, so I looped back by my apartment building and dropped my vest under my car after 10km, the rest of the run was much better.
Saturday 5/16/2020 9.1 km (1:04:21)
Sunday 5/16/2020 4.7 km (33:49) - nice and easy
81.1km for May of 100km (120km) done.
Unfortunately, I realised today I made a book-keeping mistake! I own the Saucony Zealot version 1, 2 and 3, one each. I really likes those shoes. I found them after some trial and error after Saucony stopped making my beloved Cortonas. And now the Zealot is discontinued too. Why do they keep doing that?!
Anyway, I thought my Zealot 1 had gotten left behind in my office last time I went there in March, and 2s were at my parents place where I currently spend all my weekends, and the 3s at home. On Wednesday I noticed I had the 2 at home. And Saturday I checked and indeed, the shoes at my parents place are the Zealot 1. So probably the 3s are in the office. The mix-up must have happened in February. So now I will spend the next few hours editing all my running logs of the past few month to make sure my shoe mileage tracking is correct ...

I had a great 10 mile run this morning. It was hot, 64°F at the start and 73°F at the end, but pretty typical for May in Texas. I could have gotten up earlier, but it would have just been around 60-62°F at the start and 64° at the end, so the extra sleep was worth it. It was still a really pretty day. And even though the last mile was tough, sometimes hot and sweaty is good. I was glad I ran my virtual half last weekend though. It was cooler and not as humid and was just perfect running weather.
Today's run was the "Dreams Un-Canceled" 15K. I was really just planning to run 9.4 miles, but I don't do math well while running and when I got home I was at 9.89 and I couldn't stop there so I went a little past my house to get to 10 miles and it made me think of @Mobycarp.
Not only did I get the 15K bib for the Un-Canceled project, but I got the individual 500 Mile bib for Run the Year and @Tramboman and I got the 1000 Mile bib for our Run the Year team.
@Tramboman I also think of lots of good things to write about during my runs, but when I get ready to write up my report all those good things have vanished and my reports are pretty dull.

Hello beautiful runners and walkers, active or recovering.
Cool pics of well used shoes, new shoes, beautiful horses and Bambi! Love it.
Today, I gave myself a birthday present - I ran/walked for 57 minutes. Woohoo! That number only coincides with a random date on some random calendar. If I had run the age I feel, I would have stopped 10 minutes earlier. I know for a fact that I am in better shape now than I was at 47. My fitness level has improved due to the Peloton - I get my heart rate up much faster and for longer periods. The run felt easy but I just needed to see if my femur could handle it. It was a little sore after. We shall see. But it was wonderful to be back out on my favorite trail, running in 68 degrees. Let's just say that my zygomatics were sore from smiling so much. People probably thought I was crazy. And yes, my distal phalanges were overcompensating, which was fine too. Yay!!!!!

Went onto the Brooks site this afternoon. Of course, the pair of GTS 19's that were on sale are no longer available. Today, they had, or I did a better job of finding them, a pair of the GTS 20's in my size. I ordered them. Credit card went through right away. I'm thinking there was a system glitch or something yesterday. Since the 20's weren't on sale, they were more expensive. At least I have a new pair on the way. Probably 2 weeks before I get them.5

I am very behind on posting. But actually doing fairly reasonably on the running overall- even if none of the runs have gone exactly according to plan.
Friday, was a telework day. This gave me a bit of extra time to run. And I put in 4 miles, which is the longest run I’ve done in at least 9 months or so. I was pretty pleased with it.
Yesterday, was rainy all day. I still somehow talked myself into starting a run in the rain. Weather said it was almost 50 degrees. So, I decided my raincoat over whatever shirt I chose would be plenty warm enough. Oh I was SOOO wrong. And I think the weather was oh, so wrong, also. I froze, my legs didn’t want to move. I shortened my run intervals, and somehow slogged thru a very terrible two miles. And spent the rest of the day trying to feel warm. I MAY have pressed the button on the dreadmill in my frozen state. Oops.
Today, was gorgeous and pretty and warm. I took the early turn to go up the frontage road, which has a not so nice hill to start it, that I usually walk part or all of. Today, I managed to charge up the whole thing, and started a walk interval at the top. However, by the time I finished the frontage road I was kind of out of gas for some reason. So, I decided to just slow down and enjoy the weather and slowly wander my way home, just shy of 2.5 miles total. There has always been a strava segment for the frontage road. And apparently, managing to run up the hill, got me my best time on the segment by almost a minute. And my previous best time was set clear back when I was still staying in the hotel here still, so almost 2 years ago. So, I will take that as a win, even if the rest of the run didn’t go according to plan.
So, all of that puts me at 25.8 ish for the month / 50. So, almost caught back up to being on pace.
Given the out of gas feeling I’ve had the last two runs, I will maybe see tomorrow if the snow is off the forest service trails yet. If so, I may try for a nice little hike instead of a run for tomorrow, for a change of pace, scenery, and muscle memory.

Glad you got some shoes ordered even if they aren’t the bargain ones. They never seem to have my size when they are on clearance. After yesterday’s run we stopped by the Fleet Feet store and one of my friends got fitted for new shoes. They have a cool machine that you stand on and it analyzes your foot. She normally wears Brooks but bought a pair of New Balance yesterday. I hope they serve her well!3 -

Thanks @Teresa502 . I'll keep that in mind when I decided to run the Tweetsie. I'd love to meet up for a run. I do remember @workaholic_nurse. I hope he is okay. You never know why people disappear off of the the internet. My dad goes to the VA there. It is a beautiful campus. Sounds like a pretty run. I wasn't sure if Fleet Feet was open or not. I really need to get fitted and see what they think is best.
