Tracey, yes i think all of us here in France were thinking we might have "it" when we had the minorist of symptoms as the symptoms became so diverse. A friend had return of hayfever after decades without and had trouble breathing and a firm clinical confirmation of "it". but in fact when tests became available she was tested negative (apparently didn't have "it") though most of those seriological are not 100%. but she did turn out to have hayfever again, so it seems to be that.
I lived w a med student and he told me about how there was a thing in medschool to think you had a lot of things as you learned about them.
When a teen or in 20s my good friend said she and her sister would say "yeah i had cancer again last week" joking about their fear of potential seriousness of various symptoms.
Heather, it is so hot here too. 93°. No beach here (i AM jealous). not my fave. Supposed to meet fellow classmate today at 5pm (hottest time) in a café. I planned to walk there (about 20 min) but no way.
I did go for a fast walk this morning early w heart rate monitor to be sure i wasn't ambling and strolling most of the time.1 -
Machka yeah a real change in travel context.
Heather, i close the curtains, shades, shutters and windows all day and open them late, late, not before 10pm. and put the fan on late and early morning. It's 93 now but was 63 in early morning. Thunder expected and the temps are supposed to go down to between 73 low and 83 tomorrow. My place is north-facing 6th floor, windows very poorly insulated (don't always close properly, old metal frames, single pane from 70s.) An apartment opens only to one side but 6th floor helps make it a bit breezier sometimes. i bought a new fan online at beginning of lockdown and it is not as good as it seemed online, even with reviews..0 -
Just announced here ... a 5K and 10K event usually held in the northern part of the state in October is being held as a virtual event this year.
I've pencilled it onto the calendar. 10K might be nice to aim for. I can run 5K fairly consistently, although not fast, now.

We got a decent parking spot with no fees, and I wanted to run some errands in the city, and the sun was shining for the first day in a while, so I figured it was a good opportunity to get a good walk in.
I arrived back at the hospital 2 hours later, but he was taking his time coming out of the anaesthetic. Just a bit longer than they were anticipating. I wasn't allowed in to see him or sit with him, so I went for another walk and found a little bit of lunch.
Then I paced the parking lot a bit, which I didn't count in my total. Finally I started feeling really sleepy (I had to get up at 6 am which I hardly ever do!), so I sat in the van. And finally they rang me to come in and get him. He was quite chipper and chatty ... I'm never like that coming out of anaesthetic, so I have to hand it to the anaesthetist for giving him the right concoction.
When we came home, he didn't feel sleepy but he laid down to rest with some gardening magazines ... and I laid down on the sofa and was out like a light for 1.5 hours!
He's a little sore but not doing too badly so far and if it is nice tomorrow, we might go for a little walk.

Hello everyone.
It has been a few busy days for me. I cannot believe it is pre-Friday! Oh, how I love this day. Actually, I love all days, the good, the bad, and the ugly. If I wake up it’s another day I have on this planet we call earth.
My best friend contacted me two days ago and she would like to come for a short or long visit. I have no problem having her in my house – she has been in lock down since the start of this thing and does not go out due to severely reduced mobility. She has made plans in the past so I am trying not to get too excited, but it’s hard.
Machka – I was glad to hear everything went well with your DH’s procedure and you felt comfortable with the medical team. Sending healing thoughts.
Katla – Would love to see a pic of you astride Arrow.
Tracey – Oh, no leveling! Will that have an effect on the deck too? Glad you were able to get your hair done. Doesn’t it feel nice to be groomed?!
Cell Phones – I always laugh when we have these conversations. We are NEVER not (sorry for the double negative) tracked when we use/carry our cellphones. We call and text everyone from everywhere, we check our accounts, we pay for things, we order things, we visit sites, etc. Yes, we can set privacy settings and avoid certain apps, but the reality is – it really does not matter. We are watched/tracked all of the time. My viewpoint is…..I do not do anything illegal so let them track my boring life!!
Checks – Still using for some merchants because they want to charge me for paying online. Sorry – I am not going to pay someone to get my money quicker. When the cost of a stamp is higher than the online fees that will be a different story.
Pip – Yeah! Two week notice!!!!! I am so happy and excited for you. DNA testing – LMAO…..but, I guess it keeps those picking up after their beasts.
On Dog Droppings – OK, everyone is going to think I am so bad. A neighbor got in to the habit of not picking up after her very large dogs. Since I am in a town home community it is impossible to avoid those piles when walking to and from my car and the mailbox. After cursing under my breath for weeks and after everyone left for work (I was remote that day) I picked up all of the piles and placed them in a bag (there was like 10 pounds of the stuff). I tied it off and put a very nice note on the bag stating if she did not start picking it up the next time I delivered the piles to her door they would not be in a bag. Problem solved! I know it was a passive/aggressive move. Normally I would just talk to someone if I saw it happening but she was purposely walking the dogs when no one was (or so she thought) watching.
Heather – So happy you had some time with your friend. Although we have technology to see each other it still is not quite the same as being with someone in close proximity. I love the current movement of all being free to be who they feel they should be. Even the use of the term non-binary is putting people in to a group, but it does allow for us to learn about how others view themselves and the world.
Lisa – The glider turned out great! It is so much fun seeing how different we can make something.
Ginny – Sorry to hear about your staff member. Hopefully it is a mild case and he can heal at home. I have a feeling as time passes each and every one of us will know someone.
Vicki – Sorry to hear about the work hours and the hives. Also about the lack of cause/determination.
Allie – I just shake my head – who knows what SIL stated to doctor. Oh, but of course how would she know? She really does not care for her mom.
Kim – I think we have all learned a little more about ourselves. It’s a great feeling to flip the negatives.
Karen – How sweet of you to run out for chocolate ice cream. Wish I had some right now! LOL…..I need to keep that stuff out of the house.
Beth – It sounds like nothing has changed with the individuals at your place of employment. Sorry! Glad you are able to get a haircut. I certainly felt like a new person after I had gotten mine cut.
Rori – Glad to hear from you. Big hugs and waves of support.
Well, it’s time for me to put my butt back in to gear and earn my living.
Hugs to all,
SuziQ – SFL

Machka, so glad your husband's surgery went well and that you got in a bunch of steps. I got a couple of frequency buzzes (at least 400 steps in a short period of time) but didn't really go for a long walk. Leaving the hospital would have been problematic. i did take the stairs to and from the cafeteria and get me some lunch. My introverted close-mouthed hubby was also very talkative after surgery. He was volunteering all kinds of stuff to the chatty nurse that he would normally keep to himself, cracking jokes with her as just an example. None of that is his usual personality.
I made it one day - yes, one day - without breaking my food boundaries. Let's see if I can go for two!

Karen--They did scope to find out where the bleeding was and they found some small uclers but nothing that would cause blood loss. So they figured I wasn't making red blood cells. Things are slowing building up, but still feel weak and get tired really easy. I don't eat much meat as can't chew it, do eat seafood and fish. Been years since I have had a period and can say I am very happy about that.
Machka--So glad all went well with DH's surgery.
This week is flying by and more business are opening. I just think I never went before the lockdown and not interested in going now. Just seems so strange to see people wearing masks.
Blessings, Vicki GI NE3 -

Thank you, everyone, for the kind welcome! (I’ll have to learn how to tag individual people on my replies eventually).
I’ve been playing bass and guitar for ages now - so picking up the banjolele has been fun and easy. I love old timey music and vaudevillian jazz (as well as some primitive rock and roll) - so I’m throwing it all into one big melting pot.
Been baby sitting my sick pup, Ms. Moneypenny, for the past week - she has Intervertebral Disc Disease and keeps getting herniated discs in her back. It makes me very sad to see my sweet little girl suffer. Hopefully some crate rest will set her back to right.
Hopped on the treadmill this AM - got my workout in! I tend to do 40 minutes which is close to 2 miles at a time. Feeling good in that respect! I even convinced my DH to start using it too! A miracle!
I would love to expand my circle of support here on MFP - if anyone is interested - Please send along a friend request!

Machka: I hope all goes well for your husband’s surgery. Does a virtual bike race or or distance running event occur inside buildings on treadmills or outdoors?
Allie: I hope Faith’s shower goes well. Getting her hospital bed should help so that she can be more comfortable. :flowerforyou:
Terri: Your descriptions sounds like there are fires somewhere causing air quality issues. We’ve been through smoke from distant fires a few times in the past several years. We sheltered inside the house and the air conditioner helped a bit. We were okay but a bit uncomfortable.
Luci: I am going to assume that I’ll be safe. I know they are being very careful. Thanks for your good thoughts.
Heather: Our schools closed early and there were efforts to crate online classrooms. I don’t have a school aged child so I don’t know how it all went. I do know the children have been fed at least once a day by the school district. They were given sack lunches to take home. I think that is still the case. :flowerforyou: I love the photo of Svalbard.
Pip: I hope that Kirby doesn’t test positive, and you don’t, either. :noway: It has been years since we moved. I know how much work is involved. Like you, we were hoping to start a new adventure. It has been a good choice. I believe you’ll be happy with a change, too. If not, get out your boot and kick things the way you want them to go.
Amber: I hope your daughter is doing well.
SuziQ: I have a photo of Arrow, but I’m not riding him. I am not sure when my next ride will be, but I’ll ask my teacher to take a photo. Then she can point out my less than stellar posture, and all sorts of other less than perfect work. Starting to ride at 11 is quite a lot different than starting to ride at 60ish. Here I am at 70. Time marches on.
Rori: I’m so glad that you’re making changes that will make life easier and more pleasant.
I had fits logging in here today and I’m glad to be here. I tried repeatedly to get logged in and finally made it! Things can go my way more often when I don't quit early.

Melanie- It would be a miracle if I got my husband to hit the treadmill too. He does not do any physical activity besides walking while at work(and before this pandemic, that was limited to 15hrs a week as per retirees limit- that has been lifted so he is working 40hrs a week now)

Did a Cathe Legs with Weights DVD today. The plan for tomorrow is to do some HIIT. This will be the first time I’m in a gym in quite a while. But this gym I feel somewhat comfortable in because it was always very clean.
Melanie – welcome back. Water workouts are a good compliment to your walking. Admitted, it isn’t weight bearing (mostly)
M - great news! I don’t have any intention of flying. Now Jess plans to fly to Idaho to see Colby’s family in mid July. Personally, I wouldn’t do it.
Amber – why wouldn’t the Navy tell your daughter if she was positive or negative? For some reason, the last time I used my cherry pitter, it didn’t pit a lot of the cherries. Well, cherries are on sale again so I’ll get more and pit them. We shall see how they come out
Pip – I certainly hope Kirby doesn’t test positive. Will keep good thoughts for him
Good luck to all the runners
SuziQ – the IRS charges you to file online. The price of filing is less than the price of a stamp. They want you to pay to make their lives easier? So we don’t do it
Deb – you look so pretty in that picture. Problem is that you haven’t changed
Melanie – for lots and lots of support, keep coming in. I wish I could get my dh to do even a little bit of exercise. He’s waiting for “vitamin e” to be developed…lol
I am going to do some HIIT tomorrow. This’ll be the first time I’m in a gym in 3 months. I almost forgot that I needed to charge my headphones! And get my things ready for tomorrow. Boy, is this strange. But I think I’ll be getting back in the groove.

Hi all!
Well, the beach adventure went pretty well. It was just wonderful to see the grandchildren IRL. They managed to keep one metre away, more or less, but they did talk away to us and had a great time swimming and riding my son's new paddleboard. We sat near the sea, so most of the crowd was behind us. The beach was busy and by the time we left the young people were taking over with their boom boxes and their bottles. We queued up for ice creams and they were just fabulous. I had chocolate chip in a tub, which I could sanitize.
Arrived home gasping for water and drank three large glasses. It wasn't too hot by the sea as there was a good breeze. I'm so glad I don't live in London any more. Summers were far too hot. No breeze tonight, so I will take my fan upstairs. Must remember to shut the Velux as we might have a storm.
I am a very, very fortunate woman.
Also DDIL told me about a friend of a friend who is delivering mezze meals to homes every other Saturday. No delivery charge. The menu looked amazing and it is really reasonably priced, so we've ordered two for Saturday at 6 pm. We have hardly spent any money recently, apart from food, so we paid for the ice creams and are splurging on the mezze.
I have so many photos and videos of this afternoon that I don't know which ones to post. Here's one of the whole family in the sea. The two older ones are very good swimmers and Bea can swim a bit, but wears floats.
Here is Edie.
And here is Bea, sent by my DDIL, at the end of a long day.
Oh my heart!
