Did a Cathe Legs with Weights DVD today. The plan for tomorrow is to do some HIIT. This will be the first time I’m in a gym in quite a while. But this gym I feel somewhat comfortable in because it was always very clean.
Melanie – welcome back. Water workouts are a good compliment to your walking. Admitted, it isn’t weight bearing (mostly)
M - great news! I don’t have any intention of flying. Now Jess plans to fly to Idaho to see Colby’s family in mid July. Personally, I wouldn’t do it.
Amber – why wouldn’t the Navy tell your daughter if she was positive or negative? For some reason, the last time I used my cherry pitter, it didn’t pit a lot of the cherries. Well, cherries are on sale again so I’ll get more and pit them. We shall see how they come out
Pip – I certainly hope Kirby doesn’t test positive. Will keep good thoughts for him
Good luck to all the runners
SuziQ – the IRS charges you to file online. The price of filing is less than the price of a stamp. They want you to pay to make their lives easier? So we don’t do it
Deb – you look so pretty in that picture. Problem is that you haven’t changed
Melanie – for lots and lots of support, keep coming in. I wish I could get my dh to do even a little bit of exercise. He’s waiting for “vitamin e” to be developed…lol
I am going to do some HIIT tomorrow. This’ll be the first time I’m in a gym in 3 months. I almost forgot that I needed to charge my headphones! And get my things ready for tomorrow. Boy, is this strange. But I think I’ll be getting back in the groove.

Thank you- for the most part, look the same except 45lbs heavier now than in picture #1. At least I am no longer at my heaviest which was about 80lbs heavier than first picture. At my height, any extra really shows.1 -

Well, the beach adventure went pretty well. It was just wonderful to see the grandchildren IRL. They managed to keep one metre away, more or less, but they did talk away to us and had a great time swimming and riding my son's new paddleboard. We sat near the sea, so most of the crowd was behind us. The beach was busy and by the time we left the young people were taking over with their boom boxes and their bottles. We queued up for ice creams and they were just fabulous. I had chocolate chip in a tub, which I could sanitize.
Arrived home gasping for water and drank three large glasses. It wasn't too hot by the sea as there was a good breeze. I'm so glad I don't live in London any more. Summers were far too hot. No breeze tonight, so I will take my fan upstairs. Must remember to shut the Velux as we might have a storm.
I am a very, very fortunate woman.
Also DDIL told me about a friend of a friend who is delivering mezze meals to homes every other Saturday. No delivery charge. The menu looked amazing and it is really reasonably priced, so we've ordered two for Saturday at 6 pm. We have hardly spent any money recently, apart from food, so we paid for the ice creams and are splurging on the mezze.
I have so many photos and videos of this afternoon that I don't know which ones to post. Here's one of the whole family in the sea. The two older ones are very good swimmers and Bea can swim a bit, but wears floats.

Oh my heart!
Love Heather UK xxxxxxxx
Heather, thank you for sharing your amazing pictures. It looks like everyone had a wonderful time.
Being with family, how ever short/long the visit is is very important.
We are going up to see my parents for a quick visit on Saturday. I have only been to see them once since this virus hit and that was a very quick visit to see them plus raid their greenhouses so I could get my garden planted. Miss not being able to just go up and spend the weekends with them when I wanted. Not being able to go up to get away when I needed it has been hard. We didn't go up on Father's Day plus today is mom's 77th birthday. Son will not be able to go because he is working. I will make sure husband sanitizes WELL before we go up and stays away as much as possible. Can't risk them getting sick but miss them so much. They are an hour away.2 -

Kirby is negative11

Heather - that menu made my mouth water. Question for you: when you say that you (for example) need to do some rowing to earn calories, do you do it AFTER you have had something or before?
Allie - do you take anything to prevent the gout? Vince takes uloric

Katla:
Your descriptions sounds like there are fires somewhere causing air quality issues. We’ve been through smoke from distant fires a few times in the past several years. We sheltered inside the house and the air conditioner helped a bit. We were okay but a bit uncomfortable.
😂 We live a mile inland from the Irish Sea, and the hot sun was raising a sea mist. It soon burnt off. There was no problem with the air quality
😍 Aw!!! The kiddy pics!!!
Heather: Glad you had a good day. 💕💖💕

Jake's new lawnmower came today and he carefully put it together and charged the battery and when he switched it on, nothing happened. He can't talk to customer service until tomorrow because they were already closed when he called. He was so excited about being able to cut the grass today. I feel bad for him.2

Pip, so happy to hear that Kirby is negative and that you both are going to be retired very soon! I'd be excited too!
SuziQ, the dog poop in a bag on her doorstep! LOLOLOL
Heather, happy to hear the beach meet up went well, so nice to see those littles! That take out menu looks a lot like what you would make, hope you enjoy it!
Machka, happy to hear that hubby's surgery went well and that you found a way to get some steps in!
I'm sure there was more that I wanted to comment on, but I'm at work, so have limited capacity on the computer. Have been riding my bike to work and back the last few weeks, it is hard work! But I do love the calorie burn. I did get hubby to put some air in the tires, having them fully inflated does make a world of difference!
Have invited our son and DIL and grandkids over for dinner next Tues, not sure what I'll make, it definitely won't be as fancy as anything Heather makes, but it's not about the food anyway (at least that's what I keep telling myself!)
Nothing new here, so congrats to those celebrating, hugs for those needing them and welcome to the newbies! Please don't be insulted if we don't "friend" you, most of us do our social media thru this page, just jump in when the mood moves you!

drkatiebug wrote: »Machka, so glad your husband's surgery went well and that you got in a bunch of steps. I got a couple of frequency buzzes (at least 400 steps in a short period of time) but didn't really go for a long walk. Leaving the hospital would have been problematic. i did take the stairs to and from the cafeteria and get me some lunch. My introverted close-mouthed hubby was also very talkative after surgery. He was volunteering all kinds of stuff to the chatty nurse that he would normally keep to himself, cracking jokes with her as just an example. None of that is his usual personality.
I made it one day - yes, one day - without breaking my food boundaries. Let's see if I can go for two!
This is a small private hospital so no cafeterias and things, although apparently in the overnight surgery building there is a cafe. They weren't keen on having me in the hospital at all but because I'm his carer they let me accompany him until he went into his surgery. He has poor short-term memory and also misunderstands things because of his cognitive difficulties. So in medical (and other) situations, I'm his memory. Then they wanted me to go and would ring me when he was about ready to go.
Because of all the rain, sitting in the hospital garden wasn't an option, and I don't like sitting in a car ... so I went shopping in the city! I had to pick up some prescriptions and things anyway.Machka Does a virtual bike race or or distance running event occur inside buildings on treadmills or outdoors?
I will have to find out! I was looking at the site but couldn't determine what they meant. Either way, I have good ways of tracking and logging it.Checks – Still using for some merchants because they want to charge me for paying online. Sorry – I am not going to pay someone to get my money quicker. When the cost of a stamp is higher than the online fees that will be a different story.M - great news! I don’t have any intention of flying. Now Jess plans to fly to Idaho to see Colby’s family in mid July. Personally, I wouldn’t do it.
Michele NC
I'm disappointed about the delay in flying as I was kind of hoping to fly to Canada at Christmas.
But then again my husband and I may not be able to go anywhere by then anyway.

Hi Ladies!
First, here's a bit of fun...test your memories! I just glanced at it but was able to figure out a few. I'll see if I can get DH to help with them.
Second, mask discussion:A week or so ago, our governor (WA State) announced everyone would have to start wearing face coverings in public effective Friday 6-26. I've jumped into a few conversations about it on Facebook, indicating that it was a good idea IF everyone followed the CDC protocol about how to wear, wash, dispose of, etc. It's pretty clear. Otherwise, if people were unable to wear them or couldn't afford them (we have a lot of people with lost jobs or cut hours in our community) maybe we need to cut them some slack. Or offer to give masks to others if we have spares.
I went to the optometrist on Tuesday, wore one of my cloth masks (one layer quite breathable). The office was warm and I immediately started gasping for air after a couple minutes and pulled it down. I'm sure everyone in the office heard me say, quite loudly, "I CAN'T BREATHE!" I thought I was going to faint and stumbled into the waiting room. What a horrible feeling. I nearly ran out the door. Managed to complete my appointment and get out of there, so relieved!
So today, the local emergency management office distributed the poster (below) with along with an article which stated if you have trouble breathing, a plastic face shield is OK (I've seen clerks at the stores wearing these lately) or a very light scarf, double thickness preferred. Nothing about cleaning them, washing hands before and after handling them, disinfecting, etc. For that information, the reader is guided to the State DEM website and there's a link to CDC recommendations. Note that we are not to wear surgical masks!
That's what's happening in Washington State. I'll be curious to see if it "slows the spread". We have an increase in cases in our county, and it's mostly people in their 20's and 30's - not hospitalized and able to weather it under doctor's care which is great news. Very few seniors - people over 60 are showing up in new cases, so we are doing something right. Mainly staying home I guess.
We had a few HOT days and as usual, our HVAC air conditioner quit working. The repairman is 2 weeks out - we figured out a way to set a box fan to blow cool air in from the garage (cool cement floor) which has kept the house quite bearable. That and me getting up at 2:30 or 3 and opening most of the windows in the house and getting fans going.
My DH has an appointment with his rheumatologist in a couple weeks. I called their office yesterday to see if he could have a "phone" appointment instead of driving 25 miles to Olympia, have left 2 messages and haven't heard back. The doc himself is in his late 70's, has had a stroke - wondering if his practice is still open! Nothing new for DH to report other than aches and pains and sore hips, he mostly needs his meds refilled. He only sees that doc once a year.
Pip - good luck on the house sale and upcoming retirement! Hope Kirby is OK but like you say, he does work in the health care field.
Machka - glad your DH is doing well after his surgery.
Vicki - (((HUGS))) I hate that you are still so understaffed. Hope you've been able to take a few days off.
Katla - glad to hear you got everything straightened out with your Covid test and colonoscopy.
Karen - how many hours are you working these days? Do you know anything about rheumatology? LOL. Actually DH's family doc can likely take over if his rheumy isn't in business anymore. Hard to find one nearby these days taking new patients.
I've been busy chasing deer away from the apples trees, cutting out branches and spraying webworms in those same apple trees and working in the garden so in the meantime, I'm waving at the rest of you! Welcome newbies!

Terri: We have had smokey air in past years and that was from fires in Canada and many US states. I hope the dust cloud from Africa doesn’t come here. It looked like it might hit the states near the gulf of Mexico & maybe midwest. We have friends and family that may be affected. I hope they will be safe.

The dust from Africa is on TV news right now. It reminded me of the poor air quality when there were fires in past years.🙈2

Pip- Wonderful news!! Glad to hear it came back negative will pray it stays that way.
Michele- Don’t know why the Navy won’t tell them. They stuck a sign on her door saying no one can enter Covid yet won’t move her roommate or test her. I have no clue I wish we knew for piece of mind especially mine I’m going nuts from it looking at old baby pics crying. Hubby being gone I’m crumbling,so hubby cutting his Buisness trip short leaving at 3am tomorrow to get home sooner.

Lol one pic got hand on my hip I tried a 1 day hair dye it wouldn’t come out (in my 20’s lasted for months!) later found out a simple dip in a hot tub it’s out. Me holding Daughter at 4days old I bled 11months after having her anemia city! Look at her grumpy face lol 😂 finger raised ready to make a point. She was an expressive little thing like JR. His recent pics lol he gets into his moods doesn’t he.

Reward: inventory seeds, plan fall cool season garden, order replenishments.
Kim saw a bit of the Pleasanton Highland Games on PBS this morning. Have you been? bagpipes and men in kilts
Machka Great news about your husband’s surgery. So glad the anesthesiologist was “on it”. One of our fire department volunteers travels the world fixing things, and was in New Zealand when it locked down. Sad to hear we might not have him here to keep our rigs going for this fire season
Viv yes one of the downsides to living in this beautiful place is that it is so remote from the services of the more densely populated areas, a price we’re willing to pay. In this pandemic, our sparse population is another source of gratitude, so far this year we have had only 7 cases and no deaths. Holding good thoughts for the vet appointments.
Luci safe travels.
Lisa what a fragrant anniversary gift. Can’t wait to see pics, wish we had “smell-o-vision” Wish there was a device, like that which keeps deep divers from getting the bends, to forestall the barometric pressure migraines. Inventors/investors are you listening? Your mother was not happy about pigs in the living room? Imagine that!
Pip EEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! 2 weeks’ notice. EEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! Oops update see not yet. So glad Kirby’s test was negative. Quarantining him at home would have put quite a damper on your open house.
Michele Asking Jess to teach you how to use chopsticks sounds like a fun bonding activity. I’d love to see a video . . .
Katla neither am I a huge boxwood fan. Would much rather see something ornamental, scented or useful. Alas espaliered dwarf fruit trees look like heck in the winter. Is it a very long hedge? “Things can go my way more often when I don't quit early. “ Truth that!
Barbie, Kay, Debbie weight creep due to lack of logging honesty and activity classes, have been an issue here too, but started improving 4 days ago when I approached an annual high mark. Like Tracey my clothes are uncomfortably snug. Headed back in the right direction with the logging and Zoom BB&B.
Welcome @agnesFerniot, @RockinMBC Melanie from Vegas. I have osteoporosis too, and take alendronate (generic Fosamax) weekly. Have you considered any weight training?
Allie Brava! You have done so well for Faith, a hospital bed AND professional care on the weekends. It will be good for your brother and SIL to have a neutral 3rd party’s “take” on Faith’s condition. Hope the gout pain eases soon.
Vicki in NE $495 for a biopsy and no relief of your hives? :noway: Hope you can hire more than just one replacement.
Karen in VA why is it that our dogs don’t scare the squirrels away? Going to Kroger for your spouse’s chocolate ice cream, now that is true love.
Debbie in Napa “triplets”? Let me know what you find that does help with the bicycle butt pain. Beautiful child-bride! that you’ve kept your hair long. Me 2. You and I are about the same size. I was 4’11”/95 lbs in college, but 125 when I married at 35 and range between 143-147 now that I’ve shrunk to 4’10. Happy birthday to your mom.
Julie “it's taking on its own life and I can most definitely step back.” Brava. Enjoy your well-deserved respite.
Beth Bravo to your husband for taking your landscaper aside.
Michele, Brava. Vince doesn’t realize how lucky he is to have a generous spouse. Mama taught me to tip well as she had worked as a waitress once and, like Beth’s husband, wouldn’t want to do as was done to her. Good luck back at the gym.
Rori so glad you were able to get back to the community pool, even without the laps.
Terri your husband has his own cement mixer ?!?
Amber I’d love to see a pic of that cherry pitter/garlic press
SuziQ yes we are tracked wherever we go with our cell phones, because we call and text. Like you I shrug and say let them be bored. BUT I do not use my cell phone to pay for anything, neither do I use any wireless device to pay. I do bank on line through my laptop, but only with the wireless radio turned off and connected via Ethernet. Just call me an old fogy. As for the poop, long ago I was not diligent about picking up in our apartment’s shared back yard. Another neighbor left me a “present” on the door mat that had been left on his. Not only did I get better at pickup, but actually built a little fence and gate separating “my” area from his.
Melanie in LV, what kind of pup is Ms Moneypenny? Sending comforting, healing vibes.
Heather loved hearing about your afternoon with the grands. Great pic too. Our ocean is way too cold for me to swim in, but some do, surf, windsurf, kayak and paddleboard. What is a mezze meal? Ah I see the list, which did you select?
Lanette what’s with the new profile pic? Fun book title quiz. Was able to get all but 3, 4 and 18 on my first stab, then a little more thought gave me 3.
Successful but exhausting trip yesterday. More tomorrow.

Thanks Barbara-
Yes triplets- They started coming here just before they turned 3 months old and were so tiny/preemie- 3lb3oz, 3lb5oz and 4lbs at birth. Identical boys and a girl. I had them until just a year and a half ago when the mom decided to stay home- 55 hours a week for 6 yrs. I miss them. I had them more of their awake hours than their parents did.
I was 21 when I got married the first time. Graduated from college one weekend and the following weekend, got married, moved from my parents house, and moved back to Mobile,AL where husband was stationed.
My hair is so naturally curly(the wedding picture I actually set in on rollers to get waves- back before I knew how to let it go natural/before I had products to put on it). Now I wish it would grow longer but it doesn't.
I say I am about 5' but haven't actually measured in years. I know I will shrink- both parents have osteoporosis and have shrunk, dad shrinking more than mom. I don't mind. I have always liked being short.
I will let you know if the biker shorts help. I added the extra gel seat. My cousin who used to manage a few bikes shops told me to try the shorts and tough it out- i will get used to it.

Barbara - The mezze is the whole thing. You just get a bit of everything. I imagine the pots are small, but I have no idea. We can always have left overs for lunch the next day. She is delivering two meals to our door at 6 pm.
I like cooking, but I would not have the energy to cook more than a few of those things. Nice to have the variety.
When we lived in London and went out for mezze we always ended up so stuffed we could hardly walk!
It's a friend of a friend of my DDIL who is just starting out and doing it every other Saturday.

Barbara Visits to vet - mums cat is in reasonable health a little underweight, vet gave him a wormer and flea treatment and said to spray her carpets. Our poor Logan is quite poorly, he has a mass on his spleen, he's booked in for an ultra sound for further investigation before deciding on treatment. Now we are wishing we had got him to the vet earlier. We've been thinking about it for a week, but waiting to see if he got better on his own. Many has been the time we have rushed a cat to the vet only to be told it's an infection/virus/nothing wrong etc. so now we wait a while, before making an appointment.
Had a lovely picnic with a few of my friends yesterday afternoon at Bishopthorpe Marina. We found a shady spot under some trees and had a great time catching up. As a few of you have already said, it's so much better to see friends in real life rather than on the screen. Certainly renewed my spirit! We must have looked a bit funny to anybody watching as at one point Cindy was showing me how to do some exercises for my back. I was struggling to straighten up (I've bought an online dancing course and done too much too soon and think I must have strained my back) As Joan said the girls showing you what to do and moving fast are half my age I need to go a bit slower. Cindy's exercises eased it a little, so I didn't care if anyone was watching
Well I'd better get a move on slowly (I'm still a bit sore if I stay sat down too long) need to go the pet shop to get some food for the animals.
Looks like it's going to be another scorcher today although I've just heard thunderstorms are predicted for this afternoon, we'll see.
Glad hubby's test turned out to be negative Pip you have enough on your plate without having to self isolate etc.

Hello everyone.
A quick note to check in. MFP has not been very nice on my cell. I removed and reloaded and Community is still not working. Glad it's working on the laptop - but can be a PITA (Pain in the A--) when one just wants to read and catch up so they can comment later. I can honestly say I am happy I decided to not upgrade MFP because if I was paying for this I would be extremely upset. And, since I am in IT I have no patience with the upgrade excuses they give us. Let's face it most of our apps are free and are trouble free.
Pip - So happy to hear Kirby's negative. If the opposite it would have delayed everything so I am very happy for you two!
Heather - The menu looks impressive. I am glad you were able to have beach time with the family.
Michelle - I send in my tax returns just to be painful to the IRS. And, since it has so many security breaches paper is probably the safest even though returns are scanned once received.
Amber - Thanks for sharing all of the pictures. You have made great progress - keep up the good work.
It seems covid-weight is a real issue around the world. I was watching one of the morning programs and they have a "Covid 15 Weight Loss Plan". 15 pounds seems to be the average weight gain. Like many here I have been slipping in my diet. I am finding it is mostly due to lack of measuring. So it is once again time for me to put the measuring cups, spoons, etc. in plain view as a constant reminder to measure!
The heat here has been crazy for the past two days. We reached 97 yesterday with 60 percent humidity. The heat index was 110 degrees. This morning is not any better. As soon as I went outside I was sweating. I have been upping the water intake in an effort not to get dehydrated.
Meeting my VP and some co-workers for a happy hour next Thursday. I will be going to a new place in Mizner Park. The happy hour menu looks wonderful. It will be nice to get dressed up and socialize a little.
Hugs to all and prayers for those in need.
