    What have I done! Gone off the rails, put on 20 pounds and whilst the job I am doing is physically hard work it is not running and the marathon is 9 weeks away. Okay, reset, target, plan.

    You got this.

    Been several days since I have run, but we have made progress on the greenhouse!
    We will hold off on the plastic until fall. Just putting up fencing, for now, to keep deer out. Should with a decent dollop of luck be able to start growing food in it this weekend. dfd8bd1p7ygx.png

    Neat, but how tall is the fence? I've seen deer jump some pretty high fences...

    Oh, they COULD jump this, they can jump 8 feet in vertical height, but they are not likely too. They would need to be spooked or there would need to be a food shortage. Most of the time 3 or 4-foot garden fences are enough to deter them. There is plenty of vegetation growing right now so they probably will not bother it.

    @ContraryMaryMary That cake is soooo cute! You do an excellent job. Bet it tastes as good as it looks.

    @PastorVincent The greenhouse is looking good. Hope you are able to grow a lot of good veggies in there.

    @TheMrWobbly It is so easy to put on weight when your activity level changes. You've got this!

    Great tribute to @MobyCarp , @skippygirlsmom . I didn't realize it had been a year already. He is missed.

    Sunny, 60 degrees F, but humid today. Made my wife laugh when I told her I was thinking about putting winter gear on this morning. Back felt good, thought I started off well, but was about 30 seconds behind the pace I thought I was running. After that, I started feeling every one of my 68 years and was glad to just finish. Song in my head today was "The Nutty Squirrels (Part 2)". Queen Anne's Lace is blooming.
    Like @PastorVincent, think this is going to end up being a lost year.

    I’ve been doing some of the Rock n Roll Virtual Races and spent some of the points I earned on these Launch 7’s. I ended up only paying $70, which I thought was a good deal.

    oh i want those

    @PastorVincent – What will you be growing? Isn’t it late in the season to be planting for your area?

    Yes, we are very behind for the year for planting outside, but the nice thing about a greenhouse is you can grow year-round if you build it right. We plan to get there, for now, we will just be extending the season several months.

    745.05/1000 miles for Run the Year Team Pavement Pounders

    Today's run was kind of tough. When I got up my weather app said it was 84° feels like 87°F. It wasn't terribly humid though at only 45-50%, but it was still hot and I was feeling really slow. I did manage to run 6 miles and had a pace of 10:59. I usually try to keep it under 11 so I made it, but barely . But honestly with the heat I wasn't paying too much attention to my pace. I listened to Zombie's Run and beat all the zombie chases, so there was a little bit of speed work. I guess all in all it was an ok run. I'm getting a little weary of the heat though. It was 108°F yesterday and I don't even know what the heat index was. And it should be about the same today so I guess 86° at sunrise is about the best we can hope for.

    @marisap2010 Nice shoes!

    @ContraryMaryMary Beautiful cake! Perfect for a little girl's birthday!

    @Scott6255 Hope you had a Happy Anniversary!

    @skippygirlsmom I miss @MobyCarp too and I think of him often. He had a lot of wisdom to share.

    230 Posts Behind! What the heck!

    I guess I have been busy….. took last week basically completely off, except finishing the Binge on Monday. Then signed up for the Stunner – Dawnbreaker = 93k. Then Thursday made an impromptu trip to my hometown (it’s only a couple hours away) to pick up a birthday gift from my daughter’s friend, then Friday I took off work and took the kids to the lake and their dad met us there so he could see them for a couple of hours, then watched scary movies Friday night, then Saturday my daughter had a virtual sleepover (basically a very, very long facetime call with her friends, late at night) and then Sunday we did church online and I did laundry and normal people nonrunning things – like catch up on laundry and gardening and just Netflix and Chill with my kids. It’s been a pretty great week.
    The Stunner started last night. Just 6K to start. It’s interesting how priorities and time available for running shift when the kids are with me and not their dad. When they were with their dad, I’d have hammered out ten miles after work but when they are with me it just doesn’t seem to be that important to be so competitive or work so hard. Just spending time with the kids and running a little bit is enough for me.

    I am going to aim for 93K though, because it’s just forty six-ish miles. Also, I only have four distances to complete and I have from yesterday until the 19th to complete it. Which means I’ll even be able to take time to rest!
    I also have to say – I’m pretty impressed with aravaipa’s race packets. I think what happened last time – and what is happening this time – is that they try to make your packet worth your race registration. I always end up with extras that I didn’t ask for. Which is totally fine with me!
    I have zero pain anywhere and have continued the PT and strength training/ lifting. I’m hoping I can do this without further injury.

    How’s everybody doing? What are you running? How’s the weather? What are you eating? @Avidkeo – any cake? I want cake….

    @Scott6255 Happy Anniversary!

    @TheMrWobbly you GOT THIS!

    marisap2010 I want those shoes! I did a couple of their races but didn’t want to spend the money on the medals…. I know, now I’m spending money on Aravaipa. It was a different time when I felt that way, lol. Good job on getting such a deal! How do they fit?

    @ContraryMaryMary I want that cake…. Holy crap it looks so good!

    @hamsterwheel6 I was just talking with my twin brother about that time I was coming up to the coast in Portland this year and how then we had to cancel. I’m glad you got to go! I can’t wait to be able to travel again!

    @katharmonic – great pics!

    Happy 35th anniversary @Scott6255 !

    Another awesome workout @katharmonic ! I don't know how you do it!

    @Teresa502 Sounds like a really nice morning for a run.

    @Camaramandy648 I'm okay. The areas are just sore to the touch. Activity doesn't hurt. So, I have no excuses. Thanks for asking. I'm glad that you are running pain free. I was really afraid your long runs a couple of weeks ago would make things worse for you.
