I have lots of reasons for wanting to lose weight... Some of them border on petty, most of those are tied to self-esteem reasons. But the one that I feel the most guilty about is wanting to wear "normal" sized clothing. I've been overweight since I was a kid I never knew what shopping at Abercrombie or Aeropostale was like as a teen or whatever the adult equivalent is now. I shop at one place, I cannot just go somewhere and buy clothes. I cannot get cute souvenir/nerdy/comic shirts. It is so superficial and we're "told" that isn't a good/healthy reason to want to lose weight!
Nothing to feel guilty about! It's a motivational reason and you're allowed to want to feel pretty - or even normal.
I think wearing clothes is a good reason because you have something really solid and physical to measure.5 -
Hi folks! I am back again after more than a year later with another 10 lbs on top of my original weight. I have 60 lbs to lose. Add me for support!!8

To prove my sisters wrong. They don’t believe I can lose the weight. I’ve always been the fat sister.17

I'm a mom...but I want to be a MILF!9

I lowkey think this sometimes. 🤣6 -
For me... Quarantine, a break up and the chance to take care of me as I deserve for the first time (physically, mentally and spiritually).
And I'm doing GREAT! 🙏🏻15 -
My most obnoxious coworker lost weight with Optavia (a MLM scheme, if you're not familiar). Now she is a "coach" and will NOT shut up about it. On and on all. day. long. Sometimes when I'm tempted to fall off the wagon I remind myself of this coworker and how I want to show her that I can lose weight for free (Optavia is hundreds of dollars per month) while eating regular food and not being beholden to a "coach."
Obviously this is not my only reason to lose weight nor is it even anywhere near my top reason, but it's my most petty reason for sure!24 -
Make superheroes look out of shape.5

My petty reason is because my husband said I won’t stick with it because I’m a quitter. He said he’s proud of me for trying AGAIN, but that I never stick with anything that requires effort. I want to be able to say “I told you so” AND look better than him in the process. 😜20

Do it for you. "I told you so" is just the icing on the cake...9 -

Oh, I’m totally doing it for me; that’s just my petty ADDITIONAL reason. And every time I think: “I’m tired today or I don’t want to count calories today”, I just remind myself that I REALLY want to say “I told you so” to him and that helps motivate me.😊

Because I'm 31 and I figure I only have a few good years left to dress "sexy" and I want to take advantage of that lol. (I'm aware that I can dress and be sexy at any size or age, but the cutest clothes tend come in straight sizes, unfortunately)9

If you have the body for it, you can dress as sexy as you please at any age. Plenty of celebrity women in their 40s would be insulted by a comment like that. 😜

I am so on board with that too4 -
My petty reason is to be the one walking down the side walk that the men want and the woman wish they were. I know I could do that now I just need a little more confidence. That is why I'm losing weight.
Oh yeah and I also want to be healthy for myself lol!!!!7 -
I want people to notice once we ever go back to the office that I lost weight!8

My jaw line! At first it was my collar bone, but now seeing my jaw line become more defined is a petty reason. It’s looking good so far, too bad it’s hidden under a mask these days. 😏11

I've been going strong for a month now on this journey and my main real reason is because of my situation as a kid, I never had the opportunity to be small or have the insight to know what to eat or how much, so I want to undo it all instead of constantly feeling defeated by it.
My petty reason is the health issues I've had all my life that, when I was a kid, I was ignored bc I was "too young" for those issues and now it's always because of my weight. I want to be able to go to the doctor and be taken seriously.
Also, I'd love the confidence boost to go out, do things, and wear whatever I want!11 -
Because my sister-in-law constantly talks about how she had six pack abs before she got pregnant and how all the guys were asking about her because she was so attractive.
I've never been that girl. I never was shredded.
Now I really want to see some abs before I get pregnant with my next baby. And I want to make my husband say "dang you're hot" again 😅9 -
A rivalry that has been going on for a while. The pettiness... is all exterior (vanity) who looks better.. younger, dresses nicer.. thinner. I got this. Along with the petty..improving my health, strength and stamina is more important.4 -
Petty Betty here... I have a 20-year high school reunion in ~2 1/2 years. I didn't go to the 10-year because I was too busy, but I think I'll go to the next one. I was the "fat kid" growing up, got made fun of a lot in my younger years. I don't hold a grudge- kids are mean, and I'd rather judge people by how they behave as adults when they should know better- but there's still something very satisfying about running into people I haven't seen in many years and watching their heads snap as they do a double take. I am in decent shape nowadays, but it would be amazing to reach my size goal and be able to wear a slinky little dress that hugs all my wonderfully athletic curves.
I'm a few years off, so I have time to take it slow and make it permanent.12 -
One of my petty reasons is a reason most dudes probably have....I like a girl lol.18
-
I just want to be happy with myself. I don't care what others around me do. I need certain things for myself. When I stop focusing on working out then I stop caring what I eat... then I start becoming unhappy.8

I'm single and I'd like to be in a relationship so I'm trying to become more attractive11

I would say it’s for my mental health....I can be like a bit of a pressure cooker..... and training is like my release.... it’s my time away from everyone and everything....10

This right here...2 -
I want to start historybounding, and the stuff I like are the seriously bodycon medieval dresses. Fitted, self-supporting (no bra to spoil the lines) from shoulder to low hip, and fitted sleeve to the wrist. I want to wear that dress and have men stop in their tracks to look a second time, but I also want to STAY in that dress once I've put in the time and energy to make it.16

My pettiest reason is that I might have to see an ex in a year. But petty reasons abound!
I would like to stop dressing defensively.
I would like to stop being the fat sister.
I would like to not go into the next phase of my life looking older than my years.
