What nobody tells you about losing weight

Nobody told me I'd get sore shoulders from wearing my camera backpack while hiking. Seriously, it's day two of my holiday and I don't know how my shoulders will get through the next 5 days5

Downside to losing weight, the crumbs fall on the floor instead of my belly so then I have to get the vacuum cleaner out.26

I know that feeling, if I take my backpack when I go hiking with my camera I end up taking too much gear. Camera and battery pack plus 100mm-400mm lens and a 150mm-600mm lens and extra batteries and filters oh and a 90mm macro lens and tripod.
Then my camel-bag with 2 liters of water.
I need to buy a donkey.2 -

I don't have enough willpower to lug all my equipment around, lol, and my BF doesn't like me to spend too much time taking pictures anyway. My pack yesterday was only 4kg! Stupid 'bony' shoulders!2 -

If I just take the camera and lens attached I hook it to a belt I got from Aliexpress. I grabbed a small belt clip to hold it which allows me to grab it when needed otherwise it hangs from my waste. Having a lot of problems with a 30 year old whiplash anything straining my neck hurts.

Time to trade your BF in then. My wife does not object when I go walk abouts for 3-4 hours with my camera. She's probably happy for the peace and quiet lol.6 -

We're hiking togetherHe doesn't like it when we stop too often, breaks the rhythm. Especially if I want to do macro photography, 20 or 30 shots of the same butterfly to make sure I have a decent picture

After all these years my husband better understands my love of sky pictures and will actually pull over if possible so I can get a decent shot without windows or windshields in the way. The other day there was a wall of rainbow, something I had never seen before, nor did I know such a phenomenon could happen and he sighed, then kept driving past our destination so I could get a better shot. For many years he would tell me to just put the camera down and look, make a memory of it instead (not in a rude way, he just didn’t understand why I would take so many pictures of the same clouds/sunset/etc. trying to get the right shot),

This is so me. XD My husband has gotten used to me stopping to take a million pictures. On the bright side, I have some amazing pictures that I will someday get printed on metal to hang.2 -

There will ALWAYS be someone telling you, "You don't need to lose any more", even if you're firmly in the overweight or even obese BMI range. Whatever. . . I'm using the mirror to decide when I've lost enough. Believe me I have no signs of body dismorphia, so when my muffin top is gone and I don't have to over from the "King Size" catalog anymore, I'll know I don't need to lose any more!17

@tuckerrj You always speak straight to the heart of the matter.
@springlering62 Your 'redecorating plan' is one my favorite descriptions. One day, I was walking around the high school track and I felt my skin begin to crawl around my waist. It was the weirdest sensation I've ever felt. It's only happened to me one time.
I didn't have that particular roll when I started but another roll made its way there as I was walking laps. A fruit roll-up from nowhere. I walked home with a new inflatable innertube around my waist. To this day I don't know how that happened.
Back then, it always felt like my body was betraying me, taunting me and messing with my head. You know what they say about a reformed smoker, drinker, gambler or anything else. You develop a real 'tude.
I've learned that not everyone has our best interests at heart. Some mean well and some don't. I know the difference. I no longer feel the need to explain, justify or edit myself. I usually give them the 'look' and they'll let it go.7 -
Yeah, I'll start thinking about "enough" when my waist is smaller than my hips and my bust.10

I've noticed that my cats don't have nearly as easy a time sleeping on me now that I'm sixty pounds lighter - and also my car is a lot larger.21

Does your backpack have a chest strap? If it doesn't, take a rope and tie it around the shoulder straps across your chest and cinch it tight. That should take some of the stress off your shoulders.6 -
