Good Monday!
Oops, slept in by 2 hours. Good thing we normally get up 4 hours before we have to be at work. Was really unproductive yesterday. Cooked breakfast, cleaned up dishes, helped husband (Steve) with JCB, spent several hours with Steve's uncle . That time was nice. Heard lots of family stories and saw the car. We aren't taking the car but the time was great. Came home, made dinner, went to meet friends for ice cream. Steve went into the small grocery in town and picked up a couple of things with one of our friends. We then picked up my order from the big grocery. I did clean up the kitchen and a quick decluttering before bed. I never made the bed yesterday 😯
I reckon once written down it wasn't too unproductive.😉
Just got a text that my other niece is delivering her baby today! Prayers for safe delivery and health for momma and baby boy.❤❤❤
Need to get ready for work.
Joy- I find that daily in lots of activities
Fun- that requires some thinking.
Hugs!
Welcomes!
Congratulations!
Remember water!

Typing around Egg this morning, as the moment Corey leaves for work (about 5:20 a.m.) she comes and lays on my lap, as she knows I'll be at the computer for a while..
VERY pleased with the scale this morning, as I've now lost 10 pounds in 10 days, 21 pounds total since mid-March, and now stand at 198 - Woot! One-der-land... Will continue this pattern until it no longer works for me - Burn 1,000+-calories in exercise daily, keep calories in to 1400 or less, and stick to a reasonable IF eating pattern. First meal was about 1 p.m., dinner was at 6 p.m. yesterday.
Much like Rebecca, I eat what I choose--am not trying to restrict proteins, carbs or fats, nor am I struggling to balance my macros, etc. For instance, lunch was a tortilla with mozzarella cheese and three pepperoni melted on it in the microwave (I know it's weird, I've just been obsessed with them of late).
Love seeing that benighted scale move under 200... I'm such a big geeky girl. Well, a shrinking geeky girl. Makes me happy.
Minor family kerfuffle:My daughter asked (over text message) last night if I would come up and stay two weeks at the beginning of September while her husband is in the field. She's beginning a nursing class and will be out two evenings a week, working in the office two or three days a week, and working from home a few days a week.
I said "No." Evidently, the other set of grandparents also have said no as well, because they're usually the ones who bail them out of these short jams. They're two hours closer, and honestly, kind of suckers where these kids are concerned. More power to them. I don't babysit kids, I'm not good at it, they sense it, and it sheer misery for all concerned. OK, mostly for me, but that's just one of three major reasons--I don't want to be away from my husband, and am just getting my old Crohn's-type issues under control for the first time in a year and a half.
My daughter has been hinting at this on Facebook for more than two weeks now, "Can any family member come give me a hand for these two weeks?" has been posted more than once. I roundly ignored every post to that effect, and told Corey it was aimed at me. Sure enough, she finally asked semi-directly. When I said, "Your dad needs me here, and I need to be here," my very verbose daughter came back with "Okay," which means now she's PO'd. To her, I'm not working, so I'm the perfect babysitter.
Nearly five decades ago, when my oldest brother's wife got pregnant, my mother's response to the news was, "I don't babysit." Now I know why.
She'll come around in the end, but she's not good at being thwarted, and it may take a while.
*sigh*
Re - where I find joy...
Like Kylia, daily activities, being away from in front of a computer, working my body physically to exhaustion on a serial basis, something I've seldom done in my adult life. Feeling the seasons change, as the breathless heat gives way to the occasional cool morning that says Fall is coming. Your triumphs bring joy as well.
Laughing -
Saturday afternoon, driving with my husband, I don't even remember what we were discussing, but I remember laughter filling the car.
Whoops! Egg's long gone, and it's time I headed for the elliptical. After that, the garden and trees need water, and I'll probably get the trimming done this morning around the edges of the house, the new fence, and orchard. Corey helped me move about 20 flowering plants to the fence lines yesterday, trying to put those things that love shade in the shady spots, and the sun-lovers in the sunny spots. Will either mow today after the dew burns off or tomorrow.
Later, y'all,
Love, Lisa4 -
Barbara What I have been up to: Probably most notably, I worked my last shift at brick & mortar urgent care yesterday! It was a gratifying and productive shift; a good way to end my career there. I’m still technically a prn (as needed) employee, but would take a shift only if they offered a bonus I could not turn down. I am not sad, despite 30 years with the company…I suppose partly because the door is still open…but I don’t want to do it anymore. It’s a demanding job, both physically and mentally, and even more so now because Pandemic. Wearing mask/fogged-up eye covering all day is annoying & tedious. I noticed my younger colleagues seem energized by the challenge, while I feel depleted. Can only imagine how it is going to be come flu season.

Hello everyone.
Barbara - I am surprised by your insurance agent's quote. Flood insurance is handled via FEMA/Government and is regulated. Flood insurance here is about $400/year and I am only 14 feet about sea level, but am not in a flood zone.
Karen - Congratulations! On to your next phase! You did a wonderful job planning and moving over to your new gig. Very happy for you!
Lisa - Wow, WTG on the weight loss!! It's interesting how people in general just assume one does not have a life because they do not work. I find many say to me, "well, you do not have children". My prompt response is, "that does not mean I do not have a life or my time isn't as valuable as yours". Yes, I can be a bit snarky at times.
Kylia - Congratulations on the soon to be new member of the family!!
Pip - What a great doggy area!
Happy Monday one and all!

Some pictures of my past few weeks.
This is a shot of the first orchid I was able to bloom indoors (yellow in center - the purple one is one I purchased at the end of May). I have finally found just the right place for them.
The rest of the pictures will be put in spoilers so not to clog up the page.
Here are pictures of the basil I started from the plant I purchased and a new basil plant started from the second one. I may never have to buy basil seeds or plants every again!!
The Sturgeon Full Moon
These are pictures of the outdoor orchid I call Big Daddy. It did not do well last season and I almost thought it was going to die off. Then, suddenly, new shoots appeared and now there are five flower stems sprouting along it. One of the flower stems is towards the back of the plant (no arrow).7 -
Morning ladies
Im up ans Alfie is fed and begging and barking for treats.. he loves those treats lol
My poor brother honestly.. they are still.without power and even on the generator the cord i am guessing went bad as now the well pump and AC aren't working..
Jean left for work around 6:15 saying she is all stressed out. Meanwhile Sean wakes up checks on Faith there she is on the floor her diaper soaking wet,her pajamas soaking wet.
Jean doesnt even go into talk with her anymore unless she has to.as Faith will start with 20 questions..
Sure Jean is stressed but she comes home Thursday afternoons packs a cooler and takes the dog and goes up to the Lake every weekend..awww and who has to deal with her mom ,me and Sherri.im glad to get paid for it and I love her to death..but honestly i think Jean is delusional
Well i have a 10 am phone call and will make my tea now..4 -
And, here was my fun (cleaned) up with the neighbor's leaking water heater.
The first picture is the entry to my pantry. Notice how it slops down from the stairs. The second shows my water heater under the stairs, the space between the water heater and the wall and the area where I had to clean up the majority of the water. If I was still 40 pounds heavier it would have been a challenge to get between the wall and water heater!

Stepped on the scale this morning and the first 10 pounds are gone. Yay me! It feels like a 100 lbs off my soul.
I went walking early this morning. We had lots of thunderstorms yesterday and today it is so muggy it takes your breath away. DH wants to go fishing but I'm not sure he can handle the heat and humidity.
I spent all weekend working on a blanket for my SIL and knitting socks. Also ordered fabric for some serious sewing.
I hope everyone has a great week.

Hi all.
I'd ordered a neck support from Amazon for DH and it arrived today. Quite a nice black one. I did the Epley Manoeuvre again with DH right now, but he only had a bit of dizziness on the same side as before. I will do the other side tomorrow if he's still a bit woozy. It's mainly at night, or if he's bending over. It could just be that he's not completely over the head bang.
Having salmon tonight with a wheat berry salad with lots of green beans etc. Normally I cook the salmon in the oven, but i think a pan is better in the heatwave. I think it may be a couple of degrees down from yesterday. London was around 100° yesterday, high 90s here.
Lost the excess on the excess weight, thank goodness. Now I want to lose some excess weight. My middle area is not to my taste.
Spending most of my time watching 'Easy German' videos on YouTube. With the fan roaring away.

If he's still dizzy from the head bang, it might be worth having an MRI.

Like going watersliding back in my 20s. Remember those big waterslides? That was fun!
I wonder how to go about recapturing some of that fun.

Bodyboarding/Boogieboarding at a beach in South Australia one Christmas not too long ago was fun! And exercise too, which adds to the fun.
My life has been so serious for the past 2.5 years, since my husband's accident, and fairly serious since I started working toward my Master's degree in 2015. I just feel like when I finish this course, I need to do something fun. But I've kind of lost track of what's fun. It probably doesn't help that I have a lot of difficulty relaxing because I'm always thinking about what I need to do.

Whew! I just reviewed the complete August thread, 36 pages, looking for anything I missed. With notepad open and pen clicked to write mode, I made a few notes. I will attempt this very post to use the spoiler feature.
I have a question? Since there is a no haha tab, do some of you have my strange sense of humor, tainted with sarcasm, and use tabs like inspiring or insightful to convey your feelings on a post that otherwise would get the smiling face, LOL, or haha response if such a tab was provided for your browsing pleasure and convenience?
SuzieQ First I love the Q with Susie as I hear the old Rolling Stones version of Suzie Q. Last time I played that song was at prom when my dates band was called to fill in for the Denver band that canceled. His bass player dropped out as his date requested, so I filled in on bass. I hate to dance (except being silly) so it was a win-win for me. Anyways (focus Faye focus), I wanted to comment I love your 50/50 gray hair. I think that combination has so much dimension. I was 50/50 by age 35. I had my first gray at 22. Also what Sturgis story? Are you referring to the one about the cafe in Mitchell, Or where the older than I, scant shorty shorts biker chick had the snake tattoos to cover her varicose veins? I have a Sturgis, SD story, or two, but I don't remember sharing it here fearing censorship.
Lanette Thanks for kind compliment!
Heather Your books sound interesting. I may read them in time, but hard for me to read about child abuse. I was never a victim, but know many that were. I find it hard to write about the tragic events in my life that I held inside for 50 years. I admire you for your courage and writing talents.
PIP Yogi in the fountain photo brings back memories of my neighbor's black lab mix that used to love to come over and dip in my little decorative pond. He is old now and can barely walk, but comes over and I hose him down in hot weather.
Faye Frankly some of your posts raise a concern about your denial of the natural female aging process and the way you sometimes dress is a very personal embarrassment. Just saying!
Ok now I attempt the spoiler maneuver with cut and overlay photography and I model my latest creation, a neck choker that doubles as a quick pull up mask.
I bought this top yesterday for $1.88 regular $24.95. Clothing store defying Governor's orders and staying open to sell out stock and close doors forever. The cape or Pancho top/minidress was regular $49.95 and a mere $6.99 paid by a COVID safe insert of my credit card, and it was mine! I won't use anything but my credit card now as I refuse to touch that viral sesspool keypad for debit. I am braless in the top photo and this top hides nipples nicely but breathes refreshingly.
Have a great day!

Hi Faye.
The family all called me SuziQ. Even though mom has been gone for almost five years I still hear her calling me that.
The Sturgis tattoo story - just cracked me up.
Thanks for the complement - I haven't posted a recent picture since I have gotten rid of all of the highlights. Maybe the next time I feel like putting on a little makeup.1 -

Well, you are a stunning babe without makeup and your hair really fits your natural beautiful facial features. Ok, the Mitchell story and the snake tattoos. I wish I had taken a photo.
I have always been a comedian and even did some standup at parties and small clubs in my 20-30's and growing up classmates called me Faye Q Funny. I have no idea what the Q was for. The principal addressed me as Della in Detention.

Pip - that looks like a nice park area for Yogi.
Heather - I would probably be enjoying the heat, we don't get it often enough for my liking.
Kylia - 4 hours before work! I am not a morning person so sort of just get at it! I don't like having time in the morning, I get up do what I need to do and leave the house. I don't eat breakfast so just grab a coffee on the way either at a take out or make at home to take depending on if I'm driving or not. My husband gets up an hour or more before he needs to leave.
Lisa - Does your daughter not have any friends that can help out a couple evenings? Are they a military family? Here the military wives all help one another out when they need to. I personally love watching my grandchildren, but understand those that don't. My Mom wasn't comfortable with my girls, truthfully she didn't know what to do with my Brother and I either. My Dad wanted to take them all the time but he knew Mom needed him to be around when he took them.
Karen - Congratulations on your last day!
Allie - I don't understand how this trust was set up that Jean isn't allowed to put Faith in a home. I think if it was her Father that set it up it was a mean thing to do. Some people are not caregivers, its not in their nature and to be forced into that situation would be awful. I personally couldn't do it, I am too uncomfortable in those situations. My husband when we were first married had to stay in the hospital after a surgery for a week longer than necessary as I was too uncomfortable changing dressings. Maybe Jean needs to have 24/7 care brought in now, then she can enjoy her mother as her mother and not have to be her caregiver.
SuziQ - My Grandmother called me SuziQ, since my name is Tracey and she actually had a granddaughter named Susan it made no sense. So when I see your name pop up, it reminds me of her.
Well I am at work so I should get at it.
Have a great day everyone.

Thinking about my high school name of Faye Q Funny, reminds me of a friend's comment. I told her about how I had told a story at work and the others were laughing and begged me to stop as they were trying to eat lunch. I told her they said, "Faye you are a very funny gal." and reminded her that is what she once said. She said, "I never said you were a funny gal, I said you are a funny TYPE of girl and there is a BIG difference."

Heather I hope the neck support helps out. I found it to help but rarely wear it unless doing work that causes undue neck stain. The bending over sure sounds like hydrops if it is consistent daily. However, if the maneuver stops it, then I would say not hydrops. Why DH is having crystals continue to get in his semicircular canals is usual. Perhaps he has some lodged in a canal that will require the modified Epley. The Posterior canal is the easiest to dislodge the crystals with the traditional Epley, but the other canals can defy it requiring different maneuvers. You can see why the Anterior can be stubborn in the drawing below. They have to be dislodged from the Ampullae which with its high angle can be difficult because they must go upward as opposed to the other canals where they slope down from the Ampullae. The Lateral can be tricky because of its sharp bend. My new neck choker offers some support, but I think my racerback bra does me the most good as it keeps my back and neck aligned. I tend to slumber forward braless. I am not suggesting DH try a sports racerback bra, but .............

My stable made the newspaper. The tornado tore the roofs off several buildings. They had a beautiful covered riding ring. Hope it all comes back. It's a miracle no one was hurt; they had kids in the grooming area when that roof was coming apart. One horse has lacerations.
My parents are fussing about the tree damage here. My dad wants to go up on a ladder to cut some branches down. He is 86, with peripheral neuropathy, and has no business climbing. The ladder is old and has some repaired parts. The ground is muddy. What could happen? Talk about asking for trouble.
I burned my mouth eating a hot potato and now I can't cheat with cookies or anything crisp. I can finally break that bad habit Yay!

Debbie – oh, we would pick and eat lettuce, too. There is this one farmer around here who has THE BEST corn I think I’ve ever had. It’s so sweet. Honestly, I use it for dessert sometimes. When it comes in I actually buy quite a bit and then freeze it. Right after I bought it, Jessica would have 4 ears at a time. Now that it’s frozen, she’ll only have two. Well…more for me
Went in the pool, got dinner for me ready to microwave (I’ll make a pizza for Vince). Jess and I will have sushi. Vince won’t eat it. Went to Michael’s earlier and got the yarn for some of the towels. There was this 6’ inflatable sprinkler on sale for $18. So I got it for PJ. Vince was upset at me for buying it, he says they’ll never use it because they have to deflate it and that’ll take a long time. Well, I’m not going to worry about that. I wanted to get this ceramic lamp that we would paint and give that to Denise for her baby shower. Vince kept saying that it was too small. Well, someone else bought her one of a whale and she really liked it. Pete and Denise seem to like BIG things. I told Vince that we would take it up to DE with us in Sept. He said he didn’t think we were going. I told him “why not” “restaurants are open, the beaches are open” How do I know this? A friend of mine told me and she lives in Rehoboth Beach. My friend Eileen from grade school now in NC just went there for a week and she didn’t have to self-quarantine. Neither did my other friend, Rita, from NJ. I don’t know what’s up with him.
Monday here: was going to do a new DVD for weights, only it wouldn’t play in my laptop (boo) so I changed and did a Cathe Friedrich one instead. The Plan for tomorrow is to do a Power Group Boot DVD. This is another new one so we shall see how it goes.
Exercised, stopped at Lowes Hardware, it appears they no longer carry the Ground Clear that we used to get so we ordered it from WalMart and it’ll be delivered. Not that it’s real heavy, but heavy enough. Then made dinner to microwave. Am supposed to go to Food Lion today at 1:30 so I want to have as much as possible done. Vince needs milk so while I’m there I’ll get him his milk. And since I get $3 off, I’ll also buy stuffing mix. This is the only store where I can get it. Don’t want to go in the pool today. Have my makeup on and don’t want to get water in my hair. We’ll see if I have time when I get home.
Lisa – good job on the weight loss
Karen – I think you were wise to get out of the job when you did. You’re right, when flu season comes, watch out!
SuziQ – I remember when the kids were little the general feeling seemed to be “she can do it, she doesn’t work”, now Pete was saying “it’s so much easier for you to come up here, you’re retired”. I remember one time FIL said “now that I’m retired, I don’t know where I found the time to work” At the time I thought “yea, right”. Now I know what he meant!!! I like the way you have everything off the floor in your pantry. Well, if the bottles of water get wet, what’s the worst that happens? The labels come off? Big deal.
Faye – what a price for that top. Now that’s a price I can live with. I’ve noticed that at Michael’s it used to be where you typed in your phone number to get the store points. Not that I ever had enough. But now they put the number in at the register. I know one time a while ago I was in front of someone and they asked if the store would put the number in so that she didn’t have to touch the keypad. You KNOW this was a while ago if I was close enough to hear this.
Anne in DE – remind me again, what part of DE are you in? That’s so scary about the roof. Glad no one was injured.
Mahjongg tonight! One of the two things I get to look forward to.

Heather: Do you have the option of an outdoor BBQ grill for your salmon? That is the best place for us to cook salmon. I’m hungry just thinking about it and it isn’t even 8:30 am here. Sending good wishes for Jonny. I hope he is better day by day. :flowerforyou:
Machka: I know you used to ride bikes with your DH for fun. If he can’t balance on a two-wheeler, perhaps a trike would be a good choice. We had to make that transition several years ago due to DH’s MS. The trikes we have are made in Utah. The brand is terratryke. Balance is not a worry. Ours have two wheels up front and one behind. Motorized assist is an available option but we haven’t tried it. Neither of us has ever had a fall while riding our terratrykes. :noway:

Got up early because I usually have one daycare kid Monday mornings- they usually confirm that they will be bringing him(only comes 2 hrs on Monday mornings and that is it for the week)-no text from them last night but I got up early just in case each parent assumed the other text me. Text them again this morning to see if he was coming- still no response. I don't have the other girl today so just sitting here with my tea, Hoping everything is ok but a bit annoyed too.
Not sure what my plans will be today. Husband asked if I wanted to go shopping at the big Asian market with his mom- don't think so- not feeling like spending an afternoon with her. would rather stay home and do laundry or what ever.
Hope everyone has a great Monday.

Howdy from North Texas - I'm Donna and I'm technically 49.5...but hope you are all ok with that. My metabolism is definitely over the 49 hump....so maybe that counts? ;D Anyway - I'm 205 days into tracking on here. I've lost 15-17 lbs depending on the day. I've done all of the different TDEE, BMR calculators..and have come up with various caloric goals. Just went to one specifically for older than 50 folks. My new TDEE is 1500 to lose 2 lbs a week. I've had numbers much higher...and lower. Here is my question... If by chance you are 5'3 'ish ....what is your calorie goal? Do you "zig zag" your calories to keep your metabolism rocking along? I'm planning to try to go to the gym at our rec center soon and check out if the covid cleaning standards are good enough that I would feel comfortable and safe there. I have been doing at home zoom zumba classes throughout quarantine. I'm starting to walk a few mornings a week with a friend at 6:15. With my business, (pet sitter full time) I do have the occasional dog walk to do. Of course, with the current covid situation...my business is slower than usual...so adding in walks on my own.3

We used to grow corn when we were kids- the whole back field was full. When it was ready, dad would take the pickup down, we would pick it and fill the truck, bring it up and put the big pile in the middle of the garage floor with all the aunts/uncles/cousins/old church lady friends and all of us sitting around the pile shucking then take it into the kitchen to blanch cut and bag for the freezer. We didn't leave it on the cob because it took up too much space- the cobs were tossed in the field for the animals. We had an old corn planter- I still remember the rhythm of that planter- down, together up, take a step and do it again- 1/2 acre of it planted that way.
Now, the only corn dad grows is his Japanese Hulless popcorn- we grew that as a kid and then he stopped for some reason- planted it last year and had such a great time sharing with others that he planted it again.
This is dad next to his popcorn last year. I don't remember it ever getting that tall before.
