(((BETH & SON)))
DELLA ~ Love your rustic cabin. Such an undertaking.
Had my MRI on my head today. Hope something shows up that might lead to a solution as to why my right ear always feels blocked and it's not just my deteriorating hearing.

Margaret- A beautiful blanket and flowers. Sounds like you and Drew are needing each other and good for both of you.
Beth--How scary. I would be raising H--l and making sure someone gets to the bottom of that home and the mess. That is one of the things I have issues with the Covid stuff, is not letting patients have someone with them. At the hospital I work at we are now letting each patient have one visitor with them at a time. They have to be over 18 and wear the mask while here. They change visitors but only one at a time can be in the room with them.
Faye--Your cabin looks like a great place to get away from it all. But I would go crazy in the winter being snowed in and I would of moved too had I found that grave.
We had a police shooting in town night before last. Now we are not a big town with lots of this kind of thing. I understand this man was beating his family and when the police were called he went and hid in the house with all the lights out. Then he came running out the back door with a big knife and would not put it down. I understand they tased him several times and he kept coming. My biggest concern is I have a grandson on the police force here and know he was there. Of course I can not ask him about it, but I am just concerned for his safety.
Working 12 hour shifts today and tomorrow as one of my girls lost her day Sunday. He had been ill and given up, but still hard. My new person started on his own this week and doing great.

Beth I just read your story and this kind of thing just makes me crazy. For 2 years in my late 20's, I was a state social worker, an employment specialist for the disabled. It was amazing what they all could do whether the disability was physical, mental, or both. I found the biggest problem in keeping most employed was the living conditions they went to after work. Most group homes are bad because the staff isn't paid enough to attract quality caregivers. Most don't have the family home you provided your son. Over 40 years later and things have gone backward it seems and politics is always a factor. Now with all this COVID virus concern, I am saddened that family cannot be there for their loved ones. If family donned complete viral protective wear, I see no reason a patient advocate cannot be there. The sad thing is with all eyes on COVID, the controlling authorities could care less about other issues such as the unexcusable care your son received.

Carol It is amazing what they can see in the ear on an MRI now. Let me know what they find out! How is your balance? Hopefully, they can find a way to reduce or relieve your pressure.
Faye
Both ears blocked (hydraulic pressure "hydrops")
One total deaf the other 60% hearing (viral damage)
Tinnitus both 24/7 one balance nerve disintegrated

Vicki I fear for all our police with all the unfounded hate against them. They have to make decisions in an instant. We had a couple of problems near my neighborhood last night. One mentally ill guy was destroying the house he was given a lifetime lease by a wealthy relative. The police could do nothing but talk him down and then leave. The owners have to take civil action which will just cost them money. He put down the knife he was stabbing his door with and since he was not threatening anyone, they could do nothing. Everyone was worried he might charge the officers, forcing them into shooting him. The other was a domestic assault over a woman claiming her husband had COVID and refused to wear a mask. She decided to beat him out in the parking lot of their apt complex. I have no idea what the outcome was, but there were a lot of cop cars.2

A friend just called to warn me that now we have an outbreak of the West Nile virus. Luckily I don't walk in areas where they breed and now the county is spraying heavy. What next?

The mentally ill guy has a medical condition and it should be handled by trained medical professionals like it is in Oregon. The police only endanger themselves and the the guy. It traumatizes the already traumatized guy because the mental illness is traumatic enough. My son died from his mental illness and I witnessed how traumatic it can be when the police get involved. This is one of the changes I am pushing for as I heal from the death of our son. Yes if a mentally ill person has a weapon and the threaten someone they will be dead. This is not what happened to our son. The way the police handled him in an episode aggravated his condition. It is the same thing the African American community is asking for that police get training on how to calm a situation down rather than intensify the encounter.
I have been in education for over 20 years and dealt with several mentally ill children. We are not allowed to touch them except if there is no other alternative or yell at them. Distraction , a firm respectful approach, and routine work the best. It is best to be proactive not reactive. A restraint is only used if absolutely necessary. We are trained in safer techniques.4 -

Just got back from Food Lion. I had to sit thru video upon video upon video. I was there probably about 4 hours. I know that some of it was for the lawyers, things like workplace harassment, etc. I just blew thru the stuff that was covered in the Serv Safe course, some things were covered in the CPR course. But I also realize that they have to address the 17 and 18year olds who haven’t had CPR or the Serv Safe course. Came home and hurried up to get dinner ready. Went to WalMart and realized that I’d left my phone at home. Well, I want to make gazpacho so I’ll probably have to stop at the WalMart tomorrow to get the veges, I’ll also look for the bread flour. Hope they have it. I’ll check online to see if it’s in stock
Margaret – what a lovely thought, to have the quilt on top of the casket. I’d never have thought of something like that. Truly lovely. Yes, animals can sense our feelings and know exactly what to do to make us feel better
Katla – knowing Vince, we’ll be getting the Christmas decorations (at least for inside the house) out next month!
Faye – I don’t blame you one bit for moving. What a horrible experience! That shirt looks like it would be you to a “t”
Beth in Buffalo – WOW! I can totally understand how livid you must be about your son. And to top it off, not being able to be with him…that s***s There’s a special place in heaven for you
Carol GA – my left ear kept feeling blocked so I would clean it out thinking that it was ear wax buildup. Turns out it was a tumor. But it is slow growing and noncancerous, so that’s good. Hope you get a good answer and soon
Faye – I read where this year is the worst year for allergies. Why not? This year seems to have brought everything else.

Thanks ladies for the compliments on my salad. I made some refrigerator pickles and boy they're strong. A bit too much vinegar! I love the taste of beets though. I bought those. I think my taste buds love combinations. So biting a fork full of blue cheese, spinach, and a pickled beet. I just love it. Today I am going to use some homemade spaghetti sauce I made on my little pizzas. Then sauteed kielbasa sausage slices and sweet onions. Putting a spoonful of my olive brushcetta sauce because its just yummy. Maybe dice some spinach leaves too. Then mozzarella shredded cheese on top. Its just heaven on my firmed up street taco tortillas.💖
My last week's version:
I used diced tomatoes instead of spaghetti sauce though.
Well I have about 5 pen pals that need to be written to, but I have no gumption to write them just now. I do tend to let the letters I receive "marinate" on my desk a bit. I don't want to seem too desperate for communication. Never do I write the same day I get them. That's just ludicrous!😁to
NOST4A2 series on AMC channel is so darn exciting! Its scary, and so unsettling! Its on Sundays at 10 pm.... If you like scary stuff!
Card is up with the others from past birthdays. Looks nice.
The recent card is the top one, happy birthday written in sushi.💖

have you tried using seasoned rice vinegar and a splash of mirin in your pickles? I have been using that in my cucumbers(sometimes add a drizzle of sesame oil and furikake right before we eat). The rice vinegar is so much more mild. Regular white vinegar tends to be too strong for me, actually feels like a mild asthma attack after eating something with too much vinegar. I am surprised at how much my husband and mother in law like them this way- a little different than mom made but close(she only used white vinegar, once in a while red wine vinegar)
I will be making more tonight as the cucumbers are still producing nicely.
Love the idea of pen pals. I used to love writing real letters to friends and wait to hear back- long before emails were thought of
Debbie
I will try that next batch, thanks!

Beth You must be utterly depleted. ((Hugs)) Will your son have an aide at your house?
Margaret Everything at the gravesite is beautiful. The flowers/garden/quilt all so lovely. Your dog walk reminds me of the prairie I was raised on in Nebraska. I experienced a wave of nostalgia.

Katla - I really want to try making the starter from scratch. You know me, the person who likes to make things from scratch. Now if it doesn't work out the first time, I will definitely get the starter from BRMill. But first I think I want to try it on my own.

Oh my word.. we had a HOA meeting in the lobby,no social distancing and most of these people are in there 70s etc...
It was a Sh-t show....we each have to pay 800.00 to fix the elevator when they have over 100,000 in reserves ,they dont want use that in case the other elevator goes...oh and we will need a new roof in a few yrs and that will be 250,000...

My birthday is on Friday and I received a gift from a close friend. She meant well, but doesn't know how serious my food sensitivities are. She managed to hit all of them with a fancy food gift. I guess she thought it would be a "fun cheat." So I sent my son off with the items I cannot eat to share with his girlfriend, who has a sweet tooth, and he kindly offered to find substitutes in the spirit of the original gift. So, things worked out as well as they could have. It is lucky for those of us with food sensitivities can even find such good substitutes these days! 🍬4
