One hour of easier cardio today (my normal Sunday -- 60 to 65% or so of max HR). Maybe a bit lighter than normal but back feels fine after. Did an hour of splashing around in the pool after as well. Working on 200 pushups today as well. Just 25 at a time.

I was ill on Wednesday and Thursday, so was fairly sedentary. (I somehow managed 12,000 steps on Wednesday, without leaving the house and felling rubbish.)

I recovered on Friday, so I walked 6 miles and then had a bit of a climb.

Yesterday, all I did was a 7 mile walk.

Today, I did an hour of yoga. Then I went for an afternoon climb for 2 hours. I got loads of hard routes - it was really good fun.

I am off for a walk this evening to go end the evening.

Four days ago I got an elliptical trainer machine. I've worked out every day since, 20min, 31min, 33min, 40min. At low levels of resistance.

Y'all may find this singularly unimpressive, but I've been extremely sedentary during lockdown, gotten completely deconditioned, and started this workout plan at 299lbs. So it's a lot of hard sweaty work for me, and I'm proud that I'm sticking with working out every day. I have a medically complicated child and live in a covid hotspot, so most days I don't leave the house at all :/ This way at least I'm moving again!

Most of us have been big before. I was around 255 when I started. So any consistency is very impressive. The first workout takes a lot of courage too. To keep it up, even better. Great work!

Did 52 minutes today, moderately easy stuff again. Going to have to go out and clean up a bit outside after work. We got a nasty hail storm last night. Thought we came out unscathed but one of my concrete roof tiles is laying on the roof of the patio, so we got some storm damage. That sucks, going to have to find a roofing company to fix it.

    Yesterday
    1 hour yoga before breakfast.
Hangboarding in the evening, followed by finger curls, followed by weighted core gubbins. It was around 2 hours in total - my finger strength was pretty good.

    Today
I got a decent, 70 minute walk in over my lunch - ahem - "hour". It rained heavily for a bit, so the park was nearly empty.
I am off climbing this evening, I assume for 90 minutes. (One needs to pre-book, and that's the maximum slot length).

    Great work all. Really inspiring.

Hard, short interval day. Same workout that hurt my back (again) last week. We'll see if the chiropractor is mad at me again after tomorrow. :D Did 16 short intervals. 1 minute slow, 1 minute intermediate, one minute hard -- repeat 16 times -- then around an 8 minute C/D and some pushups after. Been doing the plank board nightly to try to strengthen the core to avoid back injuries.

Really nice Watt average @amorfati601070 Strong rider!

    Yesterday was:
1 mile run with my pup followed by squats (warm up and work sets, following Wendler's 5/3/1); 3x10 squats with 65 lbs and a band over my knees; dumbell rows 3x10 at 25 lbs; bulgarian split squats (I only did two sets of ten because I have a hip issue that was acting up); Yoga; inversions.

Today is bench day, so I'll follow my 5/3/1 program; and do 3x10 bench at 45, 3x10 at 45 incline bench, run 1 mile, pendlay rows, single arm pulls using bands, hip abduction using bands, and probably high step ups cuz every day is bum day.

Still doing the easy machine row 6 days, this week alternating a day around 4.5k with a day around 5.6k, mostly Z3/UT2 (so under 70% heart rate reserve), usually around 18-19spm, pace between 2:35 and 2:40, thinking technique and meters per stroke. Today, about 40 minutes messing with dumbbells, which is normal on the shorter-row days. At least it's something. 🤷‍♀️

I got challenged into a "25 push-ups for 25 days" thing via Facebook, which annoys me quite a lot in various ways, but I'm doing the push-ups anyway, best way I can (one shoulder doesn't appreciate as of now; we'll see if it gets better or worse as the days roll on 🙄 - it's only day 2).

Did 50 minutes of light cardio yesterday. All pretty easy stuff. I'm working hard on the days after my interval work to really watch intensity. I did a hard interval session Tuesday, so yesterday was light. Today will be moderately easy, then harder again tomorrow.

Still planking every night to build up my core some more. Back is feeling much better. Not 100%, but it's getting there. Not rowing still as I don't want to push the back and it's HOT still. We have not had a day under 100 yet in August. By far, the hottest August ever in Tucson. Not even close. Global warming is real.

Erm 'rest day' today so only 100 push ups with 10 minutes of jump rope.

50 minutes again of cardio. First half hour around 65% to 70% of max, then eased up a bit on the last 20 to roughly 60% max. Back's feeling good and I haven't been to the chiropractor in over a week. Go again tomorrow.

Will do the plank board again this evening for like 5 minutes or so -- that's about all I can take. I can hold the first one over a minute or so, but after that, not as long. I'd like to work up to 3 minutes or so at a time.

Hiked to Colchuck Lake in Leavenworth Washington. A little over 4 miles each way 2500 feet of elevation gain.

@gearhead426hemi - that is gorgeous. Makes me miss the NW (I lived there around two years in law school years ago, near Eugene, OR). I hated the Winters but in the late Spring, Summer and Fall, there's no place in the US as pretty! And that's a HUGE hike. Nice job!

I think you'd find the climate in and around Leavenworth Washington a lot different from Eugene Oregon. Winters are long, dark, and wet in the Willamette Valley. It can be a mental struggle. We are so fortunate for modern waterproof breathable fabrics and warm layers. If you can get out and enjoy the outdoors through the winter, it's a lot better. From commuting by bike to hiking to kayaking, it helps a lot. You just have a smaller window in the day to get it done because... dark. Most of our whitewater rivers are rain-dependent, so you HAVE to paddle in the winter and spring.

No way could I deal with your summers.

My previous (now retired) dentist was so excited to move here from the east coast. He read that there's no ragweed. His excitement was crushed when he realized we have every other allergen.

@mtaratoot - we are looking at that area eventually, maybe East more, where prices are (slightly) lower. Looking at a fractional ownership for the hotter Summer months, which aren't normally as bad in Tucson. Even this year, they are normally tolerable if not for having to eat outside with Covid-19. It's like 10 to 12 weeks of really hot weather where you don't spend much time outside for around 8 hours during the heat of the day. Mornings are tolerable as are evenings. We'd like to own up there as well. But I wouldn't trade Tucson for anywhere. It's fantastic for us.

I'm really, really enjoying the post-lockdown workouts because getting back into the gym means we can all enjoy newbie gains while using really light weights and low volumes. All I did today is in the picture attached...

...but the pump was awesome, I feel everything activating nicely, my strength is increasing and in only 3 weeks since returning to the gym, I'm already seeing some gains.

NB - weights are in KG, if not obvious.

This morning I tried Country Heat for the first time. I really liked it a lot. I burned almost 300 calories in 30 minutes per my Fit Bit. Who knew you could sweat so much by a little dancing. Tonight I'm going to do a strength training DVD.

Gearhead - that is stunning. I had a holiday to Washington and Oregon many years ago (my first trip to the USA) - I really liked it.

The hang boarding was good - my finger strength was decent. The upper body lifts were terrible. I have no idea why. My bench worksets were after midnight, which may have been sub-optimal.

    Anyway, I did:
5 sets of 10 ring dips
3 sets of 5 military press, 35 kgs
    3 sets of 5 bench, 50 kgs.

Today was leg day. I started off with benching to see if yesterday was a one-off. I got a set of 5 at 60kgs, which is closer to my max.

    I then did:
    5 pistols both legs, unweighted
3 says of 5, bent over rows, 60 kgs
    Squat, 3 sets of 5, 75 kgs
    Deadlift, 3 sets of 5, 100 kgs

I finished the day with a 7 mile walk. Today was better than yesterday for training.

    Climbing tomorrow! 😀

Rowing machine, 4 x (2K on, 2' off). Each of first three "off" segments was 5* row-out (about 15"), drink water/wipe sweat, about 45" row-in; last 2' "off" was row easy/continuous CD. Work pieces all easy SS, focus on technique and meters per stroke, maxed at just over 70% heart rate reserve (145bpm), averaged just under 65% (135bpm), 2:36.9 average split, 18spm. 860m rowed, total, in the "off" segments, for a grand total of 8,860m. It's slow, but not truly terrible SS for a LW60+, I think.

Yeah, I sweat lots even rowing that easy. It's a little warm in here, but mostly it's that I'm just very good at sweating. 😆

Hiked 4.5 miles today! We got a little lost and got an extra mile and a half in. Tbh it was hard in hot weather and since I’ve focused more on lifting, my cardio fitness has been way down. So glad to know I could get this done! Would definitely do again in cooler weather.
