We're both self-employed and times are hard for us with the whole current situation, hardly any work coming in meaning I have no spare money but too much spare time. I had been trying to figure out what my random act of kindness could be with that in mind. I just remembered back before I discovered I suck at knitting anything except blanket squares I bought a tonne of wool, which is sitting in a cupboard. So I'm going to make blankets and take them down to all the people who have started sleeping rough down by the river park where I run a lot.16

@eleanorhawkins that is amazing.0

I ran 6.25 miles this morning. It was a great run. It was so rainy yesterday (we actually got over 5 inches of rain and we might get some more today). This morning it wasn't raining when I got up but it was cloudy. And it was cool at 51°F feels like 48°F with 99% humidity. So I waffled a little about what to wear. One good thing about running in the heat is you just wear shorts and a tank top. But when it is cooler I never quite know what to wear. When I stepped out on the porch this morning it was cool, but not really cold, but it was pretty misty. So I wore shorts and a t-shirt but also sleeves and my gloves. I have self diagnosed myself with Raynouds Syndrome and if it is lower than 55° I usually need to wear gloves. I was dressed just about right. I did end up taking the sleeves and the gloves off after a couple of miles, but I was glad to have them starting out and since I had on shorts with pockets on the side I just slipped them in the pockets and it was perfect. It was pretty misty starting out and then it wasn't too misty but as I got closer to home it was misty again. Maybe it was just more misty on the East side of town.
The run felt really good and I was zipping along at a really good pace for me. I need to start doing some speed work so I decided to try to keep my pace under 10 minutes per mile. When I first started training for a HM I asked on here for advice about training plans. @PastorVincent's advice was to run 1 long run at conversational pace, 1 "fast" run , take 1 or 2 rest days and run the other runs easy. So that is what I've always tried to do. Today was my fast run. After the first couple of miles I thought I might be able to get a sub 1 hour 10K. I didn't quite make that goal. But Strava said it was my 3rd fasted 10K at 1:00.23. So I still felt pretty good about that. I have only gotten under 1 hour once. And my average pace was 9:43 so I did keep it under 10 min/miles which was my original goal.
I was thinking about the videos that @rheddmobile has been posting and how fun all the crowd support is at the big races. And I was coming down the road and there was a truck that had just pulled away from the front of a house and was getting ready to turn the corner. I couldn't figure out why he was going so slowly turning the corner since there wasn't any other traffic and as I got closer he yelled "good job!" out the window. I see this guy most mornings and I guess he was waiting for me to get closer so he could cheer me on. The weather wasn't that bad this morning, but I didn't see anyone else outside running or walking today. I did see a fox though. It ran across the road right in front of me. So that was kind of cool and it kind of made me feel like I was at a race.
I am still thinking about random acts of kindness. I sort of had one yesterday. I was at the grocery store and in the hair care aisle. There was a man that was kept looking up and down and obviously was overwhelmed by the number of products. I finally asked him what he was looking for. It was de-tangler for his daughter. So I helped him find it (it was actually kind of hard to find and I haven't bought that in years since my daughter is grown). I don't know if that really counts, but normally I would have just gotten what I was after and not even spoken to him and I think he was grateful for my help.
@quilteryoyo I think not doing something sometimes is an act of kindness. I thought about claiming a random act of kindess a couple of days ago when I was so tempted to comment of some facebook posts, but decided to keep my mouth shut instead because you just can't fix stupid.
@Faebert I think that daily mile sounds like a great idea.
@camaramandy648 I agree with @polskagirl01 That it might be nice to collect all the random acts together before giving them to Kristi. Especially if @rheddmobile can talk her husband into compiling them for us.
@TheMrWobbly Congrats on your 10K!
@eleanorhawkins Congrats on being the first one here to finish the Boston Marathon!
@Tramboman Congrats to us! Team Pavement Pounders earned our 1900 mile bib today. We are almost there!
@RunsOnEspresso That is a beautiful sunrise. Too bad there has to be so many fires to get it.

Random act of kindness. Saw someone in my feed looking for work in Beijing while living in another city. Met her in a performing arts project a few years back, then she studied acting in Scotland for a while and has just come back to China. Broke young artist and all that. So I offered her my couch while she's in the city doing interviews starting next Monday.16

I love that! And you have inspired me too. We have a big homeless encampment down under the nonconnah creek bridge but due to changing driving habits I haven’t been in that direction recently. Several of the people come up and hang out behind the shops there, in the past we have asked them if they needed anything and gotten water bottles, blankets, etc. I’m betting with the shops near empty they are under a lot of pressure lately, will head over that way and see what I can see.7 -
@eleanorhawkins and @noblsheep Those are both great acts of kindness!0

@kgirlhart Yes, we're doing well. You're a great team mate who leads by example and I'm thankful to be on your team.1

Thanks! I think we make a great team!2 -
No run today, but I did spin - took 2 classes and then a strength one. Hamstring doesn't bother me on the bike. But the minute I start a run..so going to have to walk tomorrow to get the rest of my BM miles.
@rheddmobile THANKS! for all you are doing! the videos are great, and man heartbreak hill. How long is it? love the book idea, and thank your husband for us!
@kgirlhart that's great running! I also have only gotten under an hour in a 10K once or twice maybe - both in races.
Always my goal though! And I'm with you on the FB post. I do the same - itching to comment, but then think twice..why bother you really can't fix stupid lol.
@eleanorhawkins @noblsheep and the rest of you: Great acts of kindness!
I did help a lady out at the grocery store getting something of the top shelf - I could see she was struggling. What is weird is that I am just as short, but for some reason I managed to get the items for her. And then she asked if I could get one other thing for her which I did.

@hamsterwheel6 your reaching to help someone made me laugh, Skip is short too, up until she was a senior is was barely 5' tall but people would ask her to get things all the time. I guess because she was young. One time she walked the whole food store helping an elderly lady with her shopping, I think she just wanted company, kept telling Skip she reminded her of her granddaughter.3

Haha! Yes, I’m barley 5ft too. But I’m def not young.m🤪😂1 -
@Teresa502 Seems like social distancing is making it hard for me to come up with an act of kindness. I will probably make my neighbor some deviled eggs on Sunday - they really like them and do so much for my mom and dad, so not sure I can count that. I'm not going through any drive throughs, or I would pay for the person behind me....have done that 3 or 4 times in the past. I'm just not seeing as many people as I did before CoVID. I did do my shopping yesterday, but no opportunities presented themselves, except for NOT telling people off who were doing weird things, like letting their daughter turn cartwheels down the aisle. LOL It's just hard. And I'm usually one to find all sorts of things to do.
@WandaVaughn It is not bragging when you are letting someone else know what you did in order to inspire or to make them feel better - as is the case for Kristi and Tim - Pastor Vincent's family. And, yes, providing dinner for a family without power definitely counts!
@Camaramandy648 I'm from upper East Tennessee.
@rheddmobile Love your acts of kindness.4 -
@shanaber The sky is a weird color from the fires. Love the pictures of the hawk and Hobbes.
@hanlonsk The problem with early snows is that they are usually heavy and the leaves are still on the trees, so a lot more broken limbs. I think it is smart to avoid areas you know have some broken, but unfallen limbs. Just seems so early to see snow!

Just checking in. Spent the last 2 days in the couch with a cold. I probably won't make the full 26.2 but I'll still try.10
-
@quilteryoyo I am struggling with the random act too. I rarely leave the house these days. I saw Picky Bars is matching ambassador donations to the Red Cross for the fires. I was thinking of donating. I'm not even sure if that would count as a random act of kindness.3

@Faebert Love the "Daily Mile" idea. It's wonderful that you are helping with that.
Congratulations on being the first across the finish line @eleanorhawkins !
Great job @Tramboman !
Wow @RunsOnEspresso ! That is a spectacular sunrise!
@rheddmobile Glad you're knee is doing so good and you are getting back to normal! Love the Boston photo and flowers!
@skippygirlsmom I'm glad I'm not the only one! LOL

@hamsterwheel6 Heartbreak Hill is a half mile long, and according to those who have run it, not the longest or the steepest hill - it just happens to be at mile 20 after 3 hills that come before it, so it’s hitting you when your legs are tired and many people haven’t trained beyond 20 miles.
Today was a planned rest day for me since I had to grocery shop, but since recently I have been walking behind the store while my husband shopped instead of waiting, I took off to get a couple of miles in. Felt like running and managed to get 5k plus a little warm up and cool down walk, not bad for what used to be wasted time! 22.36 miles so far puts me right at the 39k marker at Cleveland circle!https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=q8C0tq0a5wE
I don’t know if this 360 degree video will play back properly on MFP but I thought it was really cool! If it doesn’t play right, search for
Boston Marathon 2017 360 - Cleveland Circle #1
In the YouTube app and you should find it.9 -
@eleanorhawkins Now that is an act of kindness!
@kgirlhart Yes. Helping the man out was an act of kindness! I'm sure he greatly appreciated it. Great run!
@RunsOnEspresso That definitely counts!
