Hazy sunshine and lower 50s F today. Went out, cruised around, and enjoyed myself.
@Quilteryoyo I would offer that, absent a reason to wait, get it fixed now.
When you pop in here claiming your December 2020 mileage, what accomplishments will you have made?

Get a 5k PR
Average at least 138k per month, to meet my Run the Year pledge of 1,020 miles
Stretch goal: If I can average 169k per month, I can run 2020k in 2020

@quilteryoyo I have nothing helpful to offer apart from hugs1

@quilteryoyo I think I'd rather get it done sooner than later. Rip the band-aid so to speak.2
-
@quilteryoyo What does the doctor think might be different in 3 months? If it’s a certainty that it is going to have to be repaired, I don’t understand what the reasoning is behind another CT and “deciding” then. Is there some possibility that 3 months will lead to a different decision?

Yes, that is what I was thinking. If it will need surgery at some point, then why wait? Just take some time to get things in order, then "Rip the band-aid off"1 -
@quilteryoyo If it were me, I'd get it done asap to save myself the worry. Because I'm a worrier.
My daughter is having issues with a breast and the GP sent her to a breast center where they did a bi-lateral something or other. They sent the results now to a breast specialist and their "soonest appointment" is October 7th. I'm gonna worry until then, I know it.9 -

@kgirlhart and @mbaker566 it’s 4 years today that my mom passed away and it’s been 20 years since my dad, I go back and forth between feeling like it happened yesterday and feeling like it happened 100 years ago. Honestly everyone told me that it would get better with time, for me it has not it has gotten worse. The hardest thing is having them not see Skip grow up. Many hugs.
@Avidkeo how exciting your Mum is visiting!
@eleanorhawkins can you get permission to talk to someone in the hospital to see what is going on with your Dad. When my mom was in the hospital in Florida I had a daily chat with one of her nurses it made the world of difference. I love the idea of your Screaming Bridge, I scream in the shower.
@WandaVaughn we had a lot of rain, glad it went away for today
@quilteryoyo I’m sorry to hear you didn’t get good news….Dang this group could sure use some good news couldn’t it. I’m always the type that thinks let me get it over with then I’ll be on the other side of it, I don’t always do that, but that is what I think. I’m a fan of the mom test too, if I was your mom/sister/wife what would tell me and who would you recommend do it.

I didn't run today, but Fridays are usually rest days for me. Thanks for your kind words @Teresa502 , @hamsterwheel6 , @Avidkeo , and @skippygirlsmom.
@eleanorhawkins I don't have much to offer, but virtual hugs. I know it is hard and can imagine that being so far away and the extra Covid restrictions are making it even harder. I know you said your dad didn't have a cell phone. Mine did not either, but my sister was able to use her phone so we could face time with him. It really helped. Maybe your step mom could set something like that up. And I love the Screaming Bridge. I think we all need a good scream now and then.
@WandaVaughn I'm with you. I am not a fan of rain.
@Tramboman Woo hoo! You got team Pavement Pounders our 2000 mile bib today! Just 20 miles to go!
@quilteryoyo I'm so sorry that you didn't get good news on your aneurysm. If it were me I would probably get it fixed sooner rather than later, but I am also a worrier. And waiting 3 months would be very difficult for me. Either way, good luck and sending you some virtual hugs.

@quilteryoyo I'm so sorry on the news about your aneurysm. Hugs to you, friend. I echo others where I would probably want to "rip the bandaid off" and just get it over with.
I decided to keep running after the c25k clock ended today. I was running with my friend who is going through a divorce right now and we needed more time to run out the feelings. I feel great though and I'm happy we got to talk longer during our run.

@quilteryoyo Sorry about the news . But yes I too would rather get it done sooner than later. I would just worry the whole 3 months - what does the PA think will change?
@eleanorhawkins Hugs, girl.
I do not like rain either. Light rain or misty ok. But RAINING? No. Not to run in for me lol. Which it is today. RAINING that is. Thanks to Beta.
And as such treadmill walk/run for 6.5 miles.3 -
Thanks everyone. As for why wait 3 months....I didn't ask. I know it won't shrink. Perhaps it would be to see if it stabilizes again. It didn't really grow for 2 years. But, I am really leaning toward "ripping the band aid off" and getting it done sooner rather than later. One of the people I played tennis with this morning is a retired nurse and her husband a retired surgeon. She also said I should just go ahead and get it done and knows the surgical group I am seeing and has confidence in their abilities. That made me feel better about it too.
I played tennis this morning and then came home and did a treadmill workout - walked 1 mile and ran 3, easy pace.
Also 13/20 miles walked.

@Tramboman thank you so much for saying that! I feel like for one reason or another, we are all always in the ring, boxing. But the only option is to show up, get hit, and keep coming at em. At least, that is how I have survived this long.
@polska_girl Yep! So a fun thing about autism is that there are usually comorbid diagnosis. So mine's go the works. Anxiety (wretched), ADHD, and Tourette's. She has legitimate panic attacks sometimes but then SOMEHOW MANAGES TO MAYBE HAVE BROKEN A TOE BECAUSE SHE THOUGHT SHE COULD SWING IN THE NET FOR STUFFED ANIMALS AFTER SHE REMOVED THE ANIMALS! I'm just about to take her to the doctor.
Love rain. Depends on how bad it is if I'll run it it. I have run in all the weathers, even lightning.
@skippygirlsmom yes. Grief has not gotten better for me either, but the opposite.
@quilteryoyo why wait? I will be on my knees, praying for you. Genuinely, I am telling you, I love you. Please be okay.
Third leg last night was 15.5 miles. Lawd it was a long night. I am tired. But it was actually a beautiful run. I did get cat-called, which has never happened, and I found it very rude. Probably dumb drunk college kids, but still. Didn't your mother raise you better than that??!?!?!
Tonight the kids go to their dad and I have 46 miles tomorrow. Sunday is 31ish.
I'm going to live. This is a great idea.
Right?8 -
@quilteryoyo : Not speaking as a doctor here-I'll leave that to your PCP and specialists, (tho I will add that it is a big operation with risks, I'm sure they told you all that.)
But I will also add my family experience: at age 54 my mom stood up, said I don't feel well, and fell down dead from her aneurysm. Almost exactly a year later, her first cousin stood up, said I don't feel well, and also fell down dead from her aneurysm. At age 50, I hurried off for my own CT.6 -
Thanks @Camaramandy648 . I love you all too. Good luck with the teenager. I hope her toe is okay. Good luck with all the running this weekend!
@HonuNui I know that I am actually lucky in that I know that it is there. So many don't, so don't have a chance to get it taken care of. I guess the only drawback is the fact that it is a BIG operation with a couple of months of recuperation. I just need to get my head around that before I say "yes." Did your CT scan show anything?1 -
Love you @quilteryoyo stay strong!1

Memphians are total wussy-pants about rain, therefore I guessed that no one would be on the Greenline at Shelby Farms, which is usually too crowded for me to feel safe about running there. And I was right, we passed two cyclists and one walker in nine miles. Their loss, it was beautiful, nice soft rain.]
What a beautiful place to run. I had the same experience in Durham (NC) yesterday and it really was not even raining...but just misting...a little.
2 -
@quilteryoyo gosh I hope things go well for you. I too was wondering, why the 3-month wait? And I hope all the running you have done leaves you in a better place as far as being prepared for surgery.
Good luck!

@quilteryoyo I'm so sorry to hear about your aneurysm and the need for surgery. Not knowing the details of the surgery and recovery, I can only say that I would weigh wanting to get it taken care of as soon as possible and when would be the best timing for recovery. I would ask what's the soonest you can get it done as scheduling can take so long you may end up waiting longer than you hoped even if you say do it now. You medical team seems comfortable with waiting so perhaps balancing getting it done ASAP with the best timing for you to spend recovering?
@kgirlhart and @mbaker566, thinking of you both as well. I lost my dad 15 years ago and my sister 6 years ago and I feel for you both in this tough time. I know I felt like I was barely functioning for such a long time.
@Eleanorhawkins hugs to you too.
And anyone else in need. Hoping for some peace and strength for everyone.

Such a beautiful few days we're having. Yesterday I did a short run before strength training. It was just getting light out as I started to run so the day is noticeably shorter than last week. I don't like doing that run on the roads near the gym in the dark, even with lights so I'll need to figure that out. Strength training was inside the gym for the first time this week and it was not too bad to wear masks, and of course wiping down all the equipment. We did bench press, leg press, box jumps and the weighted sled - so lots of things I haven't done for months. And I am really sore today because of that! It was good to get back to it though.
Today I needed to get tons of work done so I went in a little early and didn't get a run done. I brought running stuff with me but after work I had to get groceries and I was just not in the mood to change and go for a run too. I got home and took Stella out for a walk, dressed to run after. After about a mile of walking I decided we could just get the run done so I picked up the pace. She did a great job tonight, only a few dead stops this time. We both enjoyed the nice weather and the gorgeous sunset as we got home. A couple of pics from our run/walk:6 -
@quilteryoyo It sounds like you've got a good medical team. I'd go for getting it done sooner as well.
@Camaramandy648 and a few others from time to time... polska_girl is actually a different user. Last I checked, she wasn't active on MFP, but if she gets notifications she might be wondering what everyone is talking about But otherwise, I totally hear you on the parenting stuff. And it sounds like you're doing great, even though I'm sure it's tough.1
