@Tramboman true, true. I did get some really beautiful photos yesterday in spite of the cold and I will admit that personal growth is a beautiful thing as well. Even though I still hate being cold
@polskagirl01 oh good, lol. "The Beet Truck Got Her," is a horrible headline2 -
Sorry, skipping through. Up at 4am for a 200 mile drive for an interview, off tomorrow to see my Dad for another 150 miles and then back to pick my daughter up from the airport before doing almost the same again on Friday. Got to keep putting yourself out there if things are going to happen. No time for running right now.10

I am on the home stretch with my work deadline so I'm just trying to think of how happy I'll be Friday afternoon and forget being deliriously tired now. I once again skipped run group tonight in favor of talking the dog out for a run to get both of us our exercise for the day at one time. Lots of stop starts but we managed the 3 miles before it got dark.
I put in a grocery order this morning and picked that up after work, and it was so nice not to have to spend the time shopping and to finally have some food in the house. And I picked up some wine so that's helping too.

@Camaramandy648 Thanks on the race. very true! And I got $35 in gift card to local sport shop. Time to go look at shoes.
Your story yet again made me laugh. The going in the neighbors yard. Yeah don’t. Lol. Agree on the healthcare. So much so.
I run in the mornings, if I don’t I won’t get it done. Was 52 here to start as well. Did 7.38 miles. Was a good run! Don’t say that too often haha.
@quilteryoyo Thanks to you to for the race comments. So glad the cath went well. When is the surgery?
@polskagirl01 Oh no, stupid beet truck. Reminded me of Dwight Shrute from the Office! He had a beet farm. Glad you are ok.

Still no run. Did something funny to a hip flexor last night during HIIT. Wanted to just tape it up and keep going, but discovered I'd run out of KT tape and forgot to buy a new roll. So no running this morning. Can't tell how bad it is just yet. Will keep everybody posted.
@katharmonic Welcome to the 645 club! Did you get the version with or without music?
@polskagirl01 Getting hit by something is one of my biggest fears when running or cycling. Hasn't happened yet (fingers crossed). I've designed my cycling commute route so that there are bike lanes all the way, even if it takes a little longer.
@Camaramandy648 LOL at other people's yards. And please don't start lifting six times a week, especially if you're sore... that would just be a terrible idea.5 -

I had a nice short run in the rain in the woods this morning. Then I saw that one of our favorite local restaurants burnt down
@TheMrWobbly best wishes on the interview!
Happy running, everyone!5 -
Best of luck on the interview @TheMrWobbly! My son is also interviewing today. I really feel for the folks looking for work these days, it is brutal out there
@polskagirl01 that is sad about the restaurant burning down. Hate to see small businesses having hard times.
6.2 miles this morning. One of the best runs I have had in a long time. New Ghost 12s (they arrived in 1 day)!! Purposely took it easy, mostly because it was 76F starting out, but also because of the new shoes. Kept reminding myself to stay slow. HR averaged 121 bpm, so it didn't feel hard at all, even at an average pace of 9:30/mi. Legs and everything else feel great after the run; not any of the normal aches and pains. Must be the shoes, right?

Warm-up run before strength training this morning - it was super windy but warmer than expected at about 60 degrees. During strength training I got really dizzy and felt terrible, which I'm pretty sure is a sign I have not been drinking enough water or eating well. My trainer gave me some gatorade and it helped some and I just half a bagel too and that is settling things. Ugh, need to take better care of myself when I'm busy.
@noblsheep I got the 645 with music. Very excited about it!
@TheMrWobbly best of luck with your interview.

Good luck @TheMrWobbly!
Hope you’re hip flexor is doing better @noblsheep. Maybe running out of KT tape was a blessing in disguise.
Great run @Scott6255 – I wish my new Ghosts would get me that kind of pace! Lol!
@tramboman – Don’t you ever want to change it up and do 7.5k or maybe 6.8k?
@katharmonic – yes, take better care of that body! I know, easier said than done, when stressed out with work demands. Hugs!

Nice and cool this morning. I'm loving it!

I didn't finish my Space Race on purpose this morning. I'm hoping to finish off around the Space and Rocket Center here in Huntsville. Silly, I know, but since the race was to the International Space Station, I figured that was the nearest to a destination race end that I could get! LOL!5 -

Didn’t run yesterday, life got in the way. Delivered Skip back part way to school and her friend took her the rest of the way. We had a great visit. I traded Skip for her friend’s Mom who is one of my bestest friends so as we were driving the 3 hours home my tire pressure light came on. Didn’t worry about it since it happens sometimes when the temperature goes up and down, I figured I’d stop on the way to work and put air in the tires. Well went outside and she was flat. I put air in it with a bike pump, found the nail that was in it and went back in to call the girl I work with to see if she could drive me in. She goes in like an hour to 90 minutes before me so I didn’t have time to run since she was getting ready to leave for work. Then after work I took it to Firestone…after the filling up with the bike pump again enough to get me to the gas station ½ mile up the road to put air in it to get me there.
@Teresa502 the biggest thing I paid for this weekend for Skip was Boise noise canceling headphones. Her suitemate is partially deaf so doesn’t always realize how loud she is and the guy across the hall is a music production major ha ha so trying to do homework or zoom meeting with little ear buds wasn’t working. I had them on, love them! Followed a close second to food ha ha
@quilteryoyo my neighbor walks part way with her and then if I’m around I walk back with her. She’s just the sweetest, she brings a biscuit in case she sees us and I have Champ with me.
@kgirlhart the weather is the same here….winter in the morning, summer in the afternoon followed by fall in the evening.
@Avidkeo I’m sorry the calf is still talking to you.
@Rheddmobile I don’t know what those things are. I love flybys I’m always checking who is near me ha ha
@Camaramandy648 what do you use to track your runs, quite a few of us here are also on strava together. We just can’t get enough of each other. I agree on the healthcare system, I pay a ton in premiums and then get to pay more in high deductibles.
@WandaVaughn great job finishing the space run at the space and rocket center

I tried to do speed work today. I was supposed to run a pace run. I set my virtual pacer for 10:05 which is the goal HM pace I am shooting for. I ran 6 miles in 1:00:17 with an average pace of 10:01 so I think I did alright. That pace would have me finishing the HM in 2:11:13 which will be a PR for me. It was a good run. It was a little windy and it was warmish starting out, but got cooler and windier as I went. It was nice and clear and there were lots of stars out. There was only the tiniest sliver of moon. Now it is cloudy and the cold front is definitely coming in. I tried to run fast-ish and I think I did pretty good. I didn't run as fast as if I was racing a 5K or even a 10K, but I think I could hold that pace for a HM and possibly even go a little faster. Just a little over 3 weeks and I'll find out.
Today is my last day at my old job. My emotions have been all over the place this week. I'm sad to be leaving my job of 20 years, but also excited to start something new. I'll get a long weekend before starting the new job on Monday. I'm still trying to decide if I want to start getting up earlier to get my hour run plus yoga, or if I want to just get up at the same time I get up now and do the yoga at lunch or in the evening. My schedule will be changing from working 8:30-3:30 to 8-5 so even though it would work to just do the yoga later in the day, I'm afraid that with working later I might not get it done and I know that if I do it before work then it will be done. I just have to decide if I really want to get up at 4:15.
@katharmonic My sister was telling me that she's been ordering her groceries online and just going and picking them up. It sounds really nice, but the grocery store here doesn't do it and I'd have to drive 30 miles to go pick them up.
@TheMrWobbly Good luck with the interview!
2020 races:
11/7/20: Run for 57th AHC Half Marathon5 -
Just stopping in to say hi and throw hugs and so on where appropriate. Not in a very chatty mood atm and trying to keep myself busy while we wait for my father's operation. Made it a bit easier because we just bought a caravan and are in the process of ripping it apart to revamp it. To those who say Ikea tests marriages.... try renovating caravans! lol.
I'm running, partly because Hal tells me to and I'm pretty good at doing what Hal tells me to do. I'm still following the plan for the HM I would have been running on the 25th if it hadn't been cancelled. Dad's operation is on the 28th. For some strange reason, I seem to think as long as I run that HM anyway, even if alone and as a LSR rather than a race, everything will be ok. So of course I'll be doing it. The little worrier on my left shoulder keeps muttering about what the consequences will be if I do it and then everything isn't ok. So I tell her to shut up and go smash a bit of caravan.
I can't stop stuffing my face with food, either. I've been carb loading for this non-race for like a month now. Back in the days when I chain smoked I always said I didn't understand why people eat too much when they get stressed. I would just smoke yet another cigarette. Now I totally understand it. Where are the cookies?
Oh, by the way, I made a discovery! This second wave of you-know-what is getting nasty again here and I was tired of old people shouting at me for running without a mask, so I've started wearing it and pulling it down when there's nobody about. And my husband has discovered that my headphones mean I can talk on the phone while I run as long as I hold the phone in my hand. So he keeps phoning me to discuss something about the caravan. Talking on the phone through a mask while running is a GREAT way to make sure your pace is nice and easy!

wanted to run 3mi for my birthday yesterday, but a late scheduled meeting and my mom wanting to do lunch left no time for a run at all. Today is a bit odd since we are having our furnace inspected for a permit, but I blocked off time to make sure I got a run in today. 1.5mi with my pup! I'm a little shy of halfway for my miles at the halfway point in the month, so I am going to make sure I am getting my runs in the rest of the month. It should be slowing down here and not as busy, so hopefully last minute things stop cropping up.
10/1 - 3.1mi
10/2 - 2mi
10/5 - 3mi
10/7 - 3.25mi
10/12 - 3.5mi
10/15 - 1.5mi
16.35/35 for October6 -
@kristinajeang Happy Belated birthday! Lunch dates with moms are more important than runs, imo. But glad you got a run in today.3
-
@TheMrWobbly keep grinding. You'll thank yourself later.
@Mari33a you're getting there!
@noblsheep yeah, I am not ready to lift six days a week. lol. no. not yet.
@scott6255 and @Tramboman and @hamsterwheel6 - it was a nice run here too, 59F and cloudy. Tank, sleeves, hat, in case of rain. Really nice.
I've missed a lot of you because I've just received yet another phone call requesting help from a coworker.
I didn't get out as early as I planned this morning because I watched a scary movie with the kids last night and didn't get to bed til after 9, which is now "late" for me if I want to be up and out by 4am. So I had to decide if I was going to use the time I did have or just call it. Well. I decided to go out for thirty minutes and then do the other thirty tonight. Easy enough, plus now, I have less work to do tonight.
Happy running, keep going - @eleanorhawkins rotfl I struggle so bad with easy pace. I should try to talk on the phone will I run more often. By that I mean at least once.2
