11/4: 1.6 miles
11/6: 1.5 miles + back and shoulders workout
11/9: 1.6 miles
I had a proud moment today: I was in a car accident on Saturday. Everyone was ok and able to walk away but the car is probably totaled and I’m going to be really busy this week with insurance stuff. However I didn’t let that completely deter me from working out. I feel good after running and not overwhelmed with what I have ahead.
Goal is consistency!
12 -
@Kimbeers glad you are okay, sorry about your car.
@mbaker566 great job getting out, such a sweet puppy, no thank you on the snake.0 -
@Kimbeers very sorry about your car, but you sure have a good attitude!
@Tramboman yay for the new driver 😁1 -
Another rest day today. I had some cramping in my calves towards the end of my race Saturday. My right calf is still sore. I don't think it is really injured, it just feels sore like after a charly horse. There is no swelling or redness. I'm not sure when I should run again. I usually run on Tuesdays but can't decide if a another rest day is in order or if a recovery run would help. I signed up for a 10K leg for the Ekiden challenge, but I will probably not try to do that on Wednesday since we have a week ir so to get those runs in.5
-
Hey all. No running for the past week, as life happened an awful lot. Only two days until the ASICS Ekiden and MFP team 3 still has 4 slots open... or me and @katharmonic will pick up three segment each LOL. Use this link here with passcode 0103 to join.
I've signed up for the first two - only one space left!4 -
@Kimbeers So sorry about your accident, but glad everyone is okay. You have a great attitude and yeah for not letting it deter you from your running goals.
@kgirlhart I hope it is just sore and not injured. I would either take another rest day or try running easy to begin with and see how it feels. If it hurts worse, stop and rest.2 -
11/1 Ran 3.0 miles – Walked 1.0 mile - Treadmill
11/2 Ran 3.0 miles – Walked 1.0 mile – Treadmill
11/3 Rest day – 11,626 steps
11/4 Ran 3.0 miles – Walked 1.0 mile – Treadmill
11/5 Helped saw wood – 11,266 steps
11/6 Ran 3.0 miles – Walked 1.50 miles – Field and Driveway laps
11/7 Roan Mountain 10K – According to Garmin, I actually did 6.33 miles
11/8 Rest day – 11,555 steps
11/9 Ran 3.0 miles – Walked 1.5 miles – Field and Driveway laps
My mom and dad and I went driving around to see the beautiful leaves today. They are gone in the higher elevations, but are really pretty in the foot hills. So, I sat down last night and figured out a route that would take us along the area I thought would be the prettiest. Lots of little back roads that I have never been on before. It was fun and really beautiful. My pictures (in spoiler), even with adjustments, never do the leaves justice.
After I got home, I took Tippy into the neighbor's field for a walk and then came back and ran driveway laps. Gotta tell you, I was on the struggle bus today. I couldn't breath and my legs felt like lead. So, I did a lot of walking during the run too. I was slower than a snail in molasses, but managed to get 3 miles in. I guess I shouldn't have had pizza for lunch. It was a little warm today: 75°F, sunny, and breezy.
Me and mom & dad.8 -
Oh no... I'm in trouble.
There is a Taco Bell being built at the end of my street 🌮 😏7 -

Yay! @noblsheep I would have been there for you but glad we have some help! I think I signed up for a 10k leg, maybe it was leg 5, but I can't figure out how to see the legs now? I can see the names of the people on the team though.
@quilteryoyo beautiful pics! That blue sky is stunning with the colors. And you and your parents look so sweet.
@mbaker566 good job getting out there. Nice pics too - and I always love to see Speed Demon. I'm intrigued about the 12 days of yeti - that sounds kind of fun, but risky for the scheduling! Your other two links didn't work for me.
@kgirlhart hope your calf is okay!

I ended up super tight on time today so just did a warmup before strength training. I should have run this morning but it just didn't happen. Tomorrow's another busy day so hopefully I'll squeeze it in somewhere but it might be a similar outcome.3 -
Thanks @quilteryoyo and @katharmonic. I think I will probably give it another day of rest and just do some yoga in the morning.
Glad you got out there @mbaker566. Speed Demon looks so happy and that ooks like a pretty place to run.
Great photos of the scenery and of you and your parents @quilteryoyo.
Glad you are ok @kimbeers.3 -
That is odd @katharmonic
The one is Running with my Gnomies and the other one is the holiday wizard run.
I'm also trying to convince myself I don't need any more headbands but Junk has some nice ones3 -
Ran yesterday for the third day in a row. A fairly easy 4 miles, with good weather but a bit squelchy and slippery underfoot so I had to slow down a fair bit. Gorgeous sunrise again! Nothing to rival those stunning pics from @quilteryoyo but a nice shot of the dawn making a busy and ugly section of road look a lot more attractive yesterday morning.
I’m thoroughly confused by the Ekiden arrangement. I was convinced i had signed up for MFP Team 2, but I can’t find any emails confirming registration. And when I looked into registering again today, I noticed I need Runkeeper, which I don’t have! I will try and sort this out today. Saving my legs today in the hope that I am signed up and I can do my 10km tomorrow before work.
Happy running all - stay safe, and well and uninjured! X

Yes, once you look under Races on the app it shows your team and who is signed up for which section.

@mbaker566 The Yeti race looks fun, but I would be so nervous to get a long distance as a surprise after a long day of work!
@kimbeers Glad no one was injured!
@quilteryoyo Beautiful pictures!5 -

It's in the Runkeeper app under Races, and I can see all of you. I also noticed the event is in Japan time (GMT+9), starting in another 3.5 hours, and will end far before midnight on the 22nd for most of the people in this thread.
I'll pick up leg 4 (5km) now.4 -
@noblsheep got it. I'm finally with the program and in the app. I'm not sure when I'll do my leg, but it will be done well before our end time. I should do it today before the weather turns but it's not going to happen.
Good luck and happy running everyone on the MFP teams!4 -
@noblsheep - If I've done it properly I've signed up for the challenge. It said that 5km leg in challenge 3 was free so I took it.

05/11 2.67 miles
07/11 2.36 miles

I am signed up for a 5k leg of the Ekiden challenge, and will do it either tomorrow or Thursday. Maybe tomorrow, wearing something patriotic for Poland's Independence Day. I was originally signed up for a half marathon tomorrow that got canceled, so I wore the buff and ran the distance today instead. I've been feeling quite down the past few days, so actually getting off the couch, running and not yelling at anyone so far today, is quite an accomplishment But don't worry, I'll be back to my normal happy self soon. Lots of stress. It will pass.
Big generalization here, but a lot of cyclists come across as a bit snobbish. BUT today, when a cyclist saw me twice, running in two locations that are quite far from one another, I'm guessing he realized I must be some special kind of crazy, and he gave me a smile AND a wave.
November Goal - 100 Miles

@Faebert That is a really pretty sunrise. Funny how it can transform an ugly landscape into something beautiful.
@polskagirl01 Great job on the HM. Funny about the cyclist. I don't often see cyclists when I run, but when I do, they always seem to be friendly. Of course, I live in a Southern rural area where you are still expected to wave at everyone you pass while driving, walking, running, etc.5 -

Sunny, upper 50s F and a south wind today. Had absolutely no energy, so went slow.

Cross training with weights for me this morning. I may be able to do my 10k leg of the Ekiden in the morning. I normally only run 5 miles before work but I think I will have time to do 6.2 as long as no one schedules an early meeting for me. It will be Veteran's Day here in the states so I am going to wear my shirt from the Marine Corps Marathon as a tribute to all who have served our country in the military (thanks for the idea @polskagirl01).
@quilteryoyo – No worries on the name! I too am horrible with names!
@mbaker566 – Kudos to you for getting out of your comfort zone and approaching the running group. The accountability of others really does make a difference for me. I was going to sign up for that Yeti challenge yesterday but it was already sold out. Sounds interesting! I can’t wait to hear the distances you get each day. I also couldn’t open the other two links. My work devices didn’t like the addresses for some reason. Beautiful Fall pictures!
@Kimbeers – Glad no one was injured in the accident.
@kgirlhart – What would @MobyCarp say about your leg? Glad you gave it another day!
@quilteryoyo – You found some beautiful spots and that sky is beautiful @Faebert.
I also got the Runkeeper app just for the Ekiden challenge @polskagirl01.
Welcome @RicciDarlene!

I feel like I am doing a terrible job keeping up with the thread lately. I am reading and liking, just not a lot of replying! @katharmonic happy belated birthday! @mbaker566 Always delightful to see more pics of Speed Demon! @quilteryoyo beautiful trees! When I was a teen I went to summer camp near where you are, it’s such pretty countryside.3
-
@rheddmobile you and me both! I am so behind. How are you all doing?
I will try to check back again today before I leave work.
Still grinding. Still running. Still healthy. Still eating nonstop (rotflmao hunger is my only emotion).
Coach said I should do a turkey trot - find an in person one.
Looks Like I Am Going To Irving, TX on the 21st of this month.
I already signed up for it before I realized that is a six hour drive. So I will drive down Friday. Race Saturday. Then home.
See? I am fulfilling the requirements of this growth track, rotfl, what have I done.

So far today the calf is feeling better. I do think that the extra rest day was a good idea. @Teresa502 It's funny that you said that. I actually did consider that @MobyCarp would have said to give it one more day.
I am signed up for a 10K leg of the Ekiden challenge. I didn't realize I would be so sore after my half on the 7th, so I am not planning to run the 10K tomorrow. I may run an easy recovery run if the calf still feels good at the end of the day, but I don't want to push it. Has anyone done one of these runkeeper races before? I'm just wondering if it takes the 1st 10K you run during the time period, or if you can replace your run if you get a faster time during the challenge time period. And thanks for pointing out that the race is on Japan time @noblsheep. I probably will get it done before the last day, but it is good to know that the last day is earlier than I thought.5 -
@quilteryoyo even other runners don't always acknowledge me here!
@kgirlhart I just noticed that, now that the event has started, when I go to the event in Runkeeper, it gives me the option to "track race now" or "link recent activity". So I'm thinking we need to record it from there, or pick the run we want to count and link it. Runkeeper users, is that how it works?2
