@Tramboman I had 34F. Cold cold.
But the thing about the things in this life is that they are all temporary. Every. Single. Thing.
Plus. Only notice how cold it is if you stop moving.
In Irving, TX it will be 72 with some clouds (allegedly) so I will have the opportunity to see the sun. Praise Jesus.3 -
Hi all, got my 10km leg in for Ekiden Team 2 this morning. It wasn’t the fastest (sorry team!) but with elevation climb of 450ft and it being completely dark and a bit hazardous for over half of it, I’m happy just to have run it all with no stopping or falling! Thanks @martaindale for stepping up for another leg to bring us home and well done/good luck to all the other MFP runners.

I'm so glad I took an extra rest day yesterday. My calf felt much better all through the day. So I got out this morning for a slow recovery run. I ran 4.5 miles with a pace that was 2 minutes and 8 seconds slower than my race pace. I needed to go slow though so it was good. My calf felt really good, but I did have a bit of soreness in my left hamstring which surprised me because it hadn't bothered me before. I guess I was so focused on the calf that I didn't really notice it. I guess this was the hardest I have ever run a race because I have never been as sore after a race before.
I am planning to run my leg of the Ekiden challenge next week. Possibly on Sunday.
I want to make sure that I am fully recovered before I run a 10K and I don't think that will be tomorrow or Friday. Does anyone know if you have to do just the 10K, or will it still count it if you run further? Like if I ran 7 miles on Sunday, do I need to stop my Garmin at 6.2 and then log the rest of the run as a separate run? Does that even make sense?
Great job everyone who has already done their Ekiden legs!
@eleanorhawkins I hope your dad continues to improve and y'all get some answers soon.
Happy Veterans Day @quilteryoyo and any other vets out there!
Good to see you back @angmarie28!
2020 races:
11/7/20: Run for 57th AHC Half Marathon4 -
@kgirlhart Thank you! I'm glad your calf is feeling better! Hope the hamstring is okay. As for the Ekiden question, @ContraryMaryMary posted this yesterday , so I think your answer is it counts. You don't have to stop unless you want it to count as two segments.ContraryMaryMary wrote: »Ha. I discovered something interesting about the Ekiden - I signed up for two 5km slots, figuring I'd cover that easily in my run today. And I did, I ran 15km, however, as it was one run, it goes against just one of those 5km slots - perhaps I should have stopped and restarted my watch halfway. Oh well, fortunately I'm running again tomorrow!

Thanks @quilteryoyo and @ContraryMaryMary. I guess I missed that post.0

Speedwork tonight was short intervals: 60-90-30 seconds with 90 seconds between for 2 sets and then with 60 seconds recovery between for 2 more sets. This is one of my "favorite" workouts, or least hated at least, but I am really sore from working out and mace class yesterday so it was tough. I felt like I was moving so slowly.
Great job those of you who have finished your Ekiden race legs! I should have signed up for a 5k leg and I'd be done5 -
Ok, I ran my Ekiden leg today on the treadmill in stopwatch mode, but when I try to end the activity on Runkeeper I get this message: "Completing your activity now will save it but your results will not be eligible for Asics World Ekiden 2020"....so I just have it on pause. Any suggestions?

@angmarie28 - welcome back!
Still having hip/glute issues but getting out as often as I can in the cooler weather without making it too angry.

Hey Team 2 mates! I had an issue too @HonuNui and @shanaber. I used the Runkeeper app for my run and at first it was tracking my run in terms of time and distance, then at some point along the way it was just time updates I was getting - maybe it lost the GPS?
When I finished and went to add the activity to the Ekiden it said it wasn’t eligible and I wondered if that was because it hadn’t confirmed the distance (I’d had to enter that manually from my Garmin). So I went into settings for the app and the Garmin to give permissions and eventually it synched and now it has all my runs since mid October. Still took a while for it to let me track yesterday’s run against the Ekiden but it did eventually.3 -

@shanaber @Faebert : I'm only using the app, not trying to sync with Garmin or watch.....Guess I'll try again later this week with a GPS run instead of treadmill and see if it takes....
Upcoming and current races:
Asics World Ekiden Virtual Relay (5k leg) 11/11/20 : did it...but Runkeeper won't record it!

Regarding Ekiden, I ran at almost the same time as @Scott6255 yesterday. There was a delay in my run linking to the race (it showed as "you completed a virtual race" on my feed, but it didn't show up on our group race screen for about 30 minutes). Now it shows my leg as "completed" in the app, BUT a day later and it still isn't showing up on the results webpage. Seems like they have issues.
I hope everyone can get their activity to count! I would be so frustrated if I worked so hard and then the technology wouldn't recognize it.3 -
I worked late yesterday, and the weather was iffy, so I made myself go to the gym to run on the treadmill. Garmin only had me do a 20 minute “easy” run at 9:33-10:33 pace, with 5 minute warmup and cool down. I ended up with 2.6 miles because I walked the warm up and cool down.
Today and tomorrow I am home to participate in a virtual therapy conference. I’m hoping the virtual format will be as informative as in person conferences.5 -

Poured rain all night but magically stopped for my run at 5:00 a.m. Temp was about 10 degrees cooler than yesterday at 53F and 91% humidity.
Way to go to all the Ekiden runners!
@kgirlhart – The Ekiden challenge actually encourages you to run an extra minute so that the GPS will be sure to give you enough mileage credit.
Sorry your having some hip/glute issues @shanaber. Hope your 100% soon.
@HonuNui – I used Runkeeper also and it didn’t immediately match my run to the Ekiden challenge. I had to go to the page in Runkeeper where it shows all my teammates and beside my name I had to press a button – I don’t remember exactly what it was called – something like “link run”????

I set up my garmin this morning to runkeeper but now thinking maybe I need to fuss with the app? I was planning to take doggo with me on the trail so I'd rather not have an extra thing to do lol (sorry team, trails & doggo means I'm slowing you all down 🤣)2 -
I hope everyone's runs get tracked ok for the Ekiden challenge. I haven't tried it yet but will be paying attention to what is and isn't working for people.

Another treadmill warmup before strength training this morning. I managed a few more minutes than earlier in the week, but not by much.
I really need it to be Friday ASAP. We are moving to online only at the university starting today because of a spike in cases and wanting to get students tested and home before thanksgiving. We almost made it to the end of the semester - only 4 classes short. I'm fine with the lecturing but giving exams is a challenge so that's going to be my big job for the next few weeks.6 -

Sunny, low 40s F with the wind from the north today. For some bizarre reason, it felt like an early spring run when I started out. After the finish, heard snow geese flying, so winter can't be far behind them.
When you pop in here claiming your December 2020 mileage, what accomplishments will you have made?

Sorry, I'm not sure about this one. I never tried to track through the app. I used my watch and synced my Garmin connect app. It worked fine for me but it did take a minute for the first race to actually register. The second leg synced pretty quickly. Sorry you're having issues. Seems like others are running into probs too.0 -
@teresa502 thanks for that tip-went to that page, and now the leg shows as completed......I didn't have to do anything. Clearly, Runkeeper has not worked out all the bugs on this challenge!3

I'm still only running 2 miles at a time since being back from having my son. I think I'm going to stay there till Spring. I hate the treadmill with a burning passion.
My sister, brother, and I are signing up for a triathlon next Fall, in honor of a loved one who recently passed. Tyler would have been 22 years old in a few weeks. He was so active and had such a lust for life. He had his demons though and he eventually decided he couldn't deal with it anymore. My heart is broken but I'm just praying he's finally at peace. We grew up together. He was like a brother to me. The triathlon we chose includes running, biking, and canoeing. Three things we did a lot together. I'm not looking to place but I want to finish in his name.
I find it extremely daunting if I'm away for awhile and the pages of unread posts pile up, so I usually just skip forward to the most recent.
It crossed my mind that I haven't seen any posts by @PastorVincent for awhile and did some searching.
I'm a little late, but my heart is aching to read the news. He was such a welcoming and supportive presence here. I hope they're both doing well up there. Perhaps they've even met.9 -
Thanks @Faebert and everyone else who had suggestions on the RunKeeper issue. I also made sure RunKeeper had had access to all of the information in the Health App (run, distance, time, etc.) but nope it doesn't come across. I am also surprised it doesn't acknowledge my manually entered run. Oh well. I am planning to run again tomorrow and I typically get 4 miles anyway so it should be fine. I will run RunKeeper on my phone and Strava on my watch if it will let me. Otherwise I will just use RunKeeper. I used to use it ages ago as my primary running app. I knew there was a reason I moved away from it... Oh and even the RaceRoster support has issues. I used the link on the website under FAQs to submit an issue request and it came back that I used to wrong address... forwarded it to the 'correct' address but still have heard nothing. I am guessing they are overwhelmed with all the issues.3

Hello all!
Been reading and catching up. @kgirlhart FANTASTIC race! Well done! That kind of pace/time is my goal one day.
Also glad your calf if ok.
To all the other racers - Kudos as well. You guys are all killing it.
Had some personal issues pop up again so not emotionally in a space to feel very chatty. Am liking and trying to read it all..
I did do 10.5 miles on the Tread yesterday. Don't know how; I just thought it might help my mood so like Forrest Gump, I just kept going. Also been raining heavy for 2 days almost non-stop.
Today was cycling.
Much love to all.

I ended up going a little farther than my leg (3.35) and waited until I got home to check runkeeper. It saw my garmin. Then I promptly deleted Garmin from runkeeper and runkeeper from my phone. LOL It doubled up my run on myfitnesspal because I guess I still had runkeeper connected!3

Thank you. It did. For that time I thought of nothing but my music and the peloton coach in my head. It was long but it felt really good to have done it.4 -
Still not allowing elective surgeries here. With Thanksgiving coming up, I talked to the surgeons nurse today and we came up with a plan. We are not even going to try for before Thanksgiving. I will get another CT scan the first week of December and go from there. If there is little to no growth, we will just wait until January. If it has grown...well, I'm sure we will discuss the rate of growth and whether it has become "emergent" or not. At least we will know something. I feel so much better having a plan and not having to wonder from week to week if I will be having it or not. I much prefer predictability.9
