Hello lovely ladies. I’m 5’ 3” I began my fitness journey at 159 lbs. The @sfter pic is at 124 lbs. I have maintained a weight of 122-132 for the past year. If I can do it you can too!!! Believe
Amazing! Killing that bikini pose!10 -
I'm 5' and weigh 180. My term goal is 10 lbs in 2 months, which I think is do-able. My long-term goal is 50 lbs in one years. You all are so inspiring!13

I’m 5’3.5”. My starting weight was 286 in November of 2018. I’m now 160. My doctor has said a good goal for me is 155, which will be a BMI of 27. I’m happy with this, and feel like it will be livable long term.14

Short girls unite! I love this thread. I'm basically 5'3" and started this year at 155. Today I'm at 151 and am hoping to lose about 25 more pounds. All you ladies are truly inspiring -- I'm really in awe of what everyone has accomplished and am hoping to follow in your footsteps. Great job everyone and let's keep at it!6

I'm 5'2 or 5'3 depending what time it is or what gas station I am leaving.
My weight has gone up and down. I've gotten down to 130 by being active, be aware of my diet, and keep stress low.
Over the years I gained the weight back.
Currently, I am in pelvic floor physical therapy. I struggle with leakage sometimes when working out and it can totally mess with my mood if I am at the gym or on the trails.
Also, watching my water intake. And eating SLOW!
I love this message board and would love to connect with all the short ladies!15 -
All of you ladies look amazing. What a transformation. I’ve lost almost 12lbs but in pictures I barely look like I’ve lost anything. I went from 140 to 127 so far in this month of January. My stomach area is still 36inch across even though I’ve lost all of that weight. I’m hoping to get this belly tightened. I’m 5’2.7

@EnzaWalton that's the area I am still working on as well! It's like a curse with not much space to deal with! All of my fat seems to hang right there yet!3

I am 54 yrs old, 5'3" and started my weight loss journey in June. I was 214 lbs I track all of my food intake here on MFP and keep my calories to between 1100 to 1200 a day. I found out I have Chronic Kidney disease so began a Kidney friendly diet and I cut my sugar intake. At the same time, I began walking 30 minutes a day a few months later I added 1lb hand weights to my walking. I started using a rowing machine about a month ago, and it has really helped firm and tone my body. My goal, in the beginning, was to lose 80 lbs, I have 9 lbs to go!!36

I am 5’2” also. I find it takes my body time to adjust. I don’t normally see inch losses right off and then all of a sudden I can see a difference. What about your arm, thigh and hip measurements? 13lbs is a huge loss for someone our height! It came from somewhere. I bet your clothes fit better.

@MichelleMcKeeRN Right! I’m wondering what’s going on. It can’t all be water weight lol. I bought all new bras for my 140 weight and then they started to feel like it was getting tighter. My bras don’t feel tight any more. I’ll have to take out my old clothes and see how it fits. I’m still wearing clothes that fit me properly at 140. After taking new pics today I can see a slight difference in size. Nothing significant.2

I think you have done great... you are 13lbs lighter than you were so that is an achievement. Slow and steady.. I started in August of last year (2020) at 229lbs and am now 184.8lbs. I log all my food and work out with a personal trainer cause I had never exercised in my life and did not want to do something wrong. I suffer from diabetes and High BP so was worried. We can do this... I still have a long way to go but i know i can do it .....Keep going and you will soon see the goalpost in sight ....9 -
This was me when i started in August of last year and the one by the side was November of the same year

Hmmm. I only can hold a max of 5 extra pounds of water weight. I think it is pretty unlikely that it is 13 pounds of water weight. That is surprising you don’t see much of a difference because you should have lost a whole clothing size.2 -

Amazing difference! Keep it up you can do it. I started in June at 214 and as of today I have lost 71 lbs and feel the best I have felt in my adult life. For me it isn't about losing weight, it is about being healthier.9 -
You can do it! I am 48 and 5'3 and started out around 167lbs in January of 2020. Currently, I am around 121lbs thanks to exercising and tracking my food.
Eating The key for me to lose weight in the beginning was a low carb, low fat, low cal. diet while eating mostly protein, fruits veggies and some dairy like cheese and cream (think Primal style eating). Snacks are things like mandarin oranges, cherry tomatoes, beef jerky and cashews. I tried to come in around 1100 calories a day since I had 'plenty' of body fat to burn as fuel. Now I still try to do low carb but more fat and some additional carbs at around 1350 calories a day. I am now running and training for a half marathon so I can have those cheat days or not feel bad about that chocolate chip cookie.
Exercise With Covid, I started taking my two daughters outside to walk since there was nothing else to do! Worked my way up to walking 12k steps a day until I could start jogging. I am now running 3-5miles most days. I also try to fit in exercises where I can. Squats or lunges while brushing my teeth and various other leg raises or modified pushups while getting ready for bed. Calf raises and booty crunches while working in the kitchen.
Tips The key is to TRACK EVERYTHING THAT GOES INTO YOUR MOUTH! Yep even that last bite of mac n cheese from your kid's plate or that random handful of chips. It's not that you can't have them. Just have less of them and track them. You'd be surprised how much a french fry here or there adds up!
Other tips:
Beverages - Don't forget to track your beverages. Many "diet" drinks still have calories and sodium. DRINK WATER!! That helps flush out that fat as you're losing it plus any salt that can make you feel fat or retain water.
Watch your portions! Don't grab a bag of chips. Put a measured amount in a bowl and that's all you get. My girls and I make mini Nestle Toll House chocolate chip cookies in the air fryer and we only make 9. Three cookies are one serving per package and that's all we have. Can't eat them if they're not around. If going out to eat, consider ordering a to-go box when your food comes out and put some of it in there. If it's not on your plate, you're less likely to eat more and less likely to go back to the to-go box to get more.
Look at your plate - Pick a smaller plate to put your food on to make it look like you have more food. Give yourself half portions to start. That way you can go back for seconds if you still want and you haven't eaten more than you normally would. I find that if there's not that much on my plate to begin with, I eat less overall.
Keep healthy low cal/carb snacks and treats easily accessible! I keep little treats for me so I don't feel deprived. Two Hershey's kisses are only around 50 calories. Eight pringles are about a handful and only 75 calories. It's easy to grab a manadarin orange or two for only 35 calories each. A half cup of grape tomatoes is only 15 calories! Put half cup size portions of red/green grapes washed in the fridge to grab. Half cup is around 50 calories.
Think about ways that you can substitute lower carb options..like a big lettuce leaf instead of a hamburger bun. Substitute spaghetti squash for regular spaghetti. Ditch the croutons and say no to the roll!
Here's proof that it works!! My chart for the last year

@EnzaWalton I agree with @conley1605 post. I lost the last of my weight by tracking. I started eating kid portions when I went through drive-thru and eating half restaurant portion food.
Now, I'm trying to learn what maintenance is for me and I've found that I still need to keep scaling back a bit. I still order the kid portion but now I have calories for a snack (protein bar, dried cranberries, peanut butter and apples, popcorn and sometimes unhealthy snacks). I went overboard for a while and I gained weight so I know that I can't go too crazy.
I still have a bit of stomach. I don't see that going away for a while - I'm going to start progressive strength training when the weather gets warmer in hopes that that will help my belly pouch.
I'm 32 and 5'. Here's progress pics of my 2 years and 8 month journey: imgur.com/a/g5I6KaG
Later in the fall, I'm hoping to post one-year later pics.4 -
Hi all! I'm 51 and 5 foot even. I'm at 139 right now, and hoping to get to 125 or even a little less. Menopause has made it harder!!8

I'm 5'1 and about 120lbs right now. Id love to get down to 110 which is what i was before kids. But i have a really hard time with the last 10lbs. I eat generally low carb and do tracy anderson a few times a week. I work 12 hour overnights and do zero exercise on those nights/days4

I'm i almost 5'4. My weight loss had been on and off for almost 2 years but I'm down 50lbs. I'm wearing the same shirts so you can really see the difference. I took this picture in in the summer. I've lost 5lbs or so lbs since

One of the greatest things about the "after" pictures is that everybody has the biggest smile on their faces!

Hi all! I’m 54, 5’2”, and I gained 15 lbs in 2020. I guess I didn’t realize that being in some stage of the lockdown most of last year affected me that much, but looking back, yes it did.
No need to fit into anything besides sweats, no dressing up and going anywhere, food and wine as entertainment and comfort...My son was supposed to get married in September, destination wedding in Greece. That was postponed, then canceled (the wedding, I mean, they’re still together).
Anyway, I’m back to tracking my intake. At least I kept up exercising to pretty much the same as before the pandemic. Pilates twice a week, resistance training at least once a week, and walking the dog at least once a day for 45 minutes.
Hoping to lose the 15 from last year by summer, and another 5-10 lbs after that if I can.8 -
5’1 heaviest was 245 currently I’m 144. Hoping to get around 130. Very excited about my 100 lb loss 🤩
