Hey hey peeps! I have liked and hugged along the way. Congrats to those racers. Well done! Lots of great times!
The cold! We seem to be escaping the brunt of it surprisingly. But we have had nothing but rain and freezing rain, Temps in the 30's.
But I would be like most of you and not even try!
7.35 on the Tread - last mile was cool down.
    Tomorrow is spin day.
    Happy Week !

Another treadmill master! Good to see you @hamsterwheel6!

Hey Teresa! Been busy busy at work and only getting busier as this half of the year is for my job. I try and pop in when I can just like it is for you lately sounds like.
Treadmill has been saving my runs. The peloton classes really help keep it interesting lol.

Thanks @Teresa502 - that's what I'm hoping that the two worst months are done, but you just never know with March and April. I have an actual in-person HM scheduled for March 20 so that is scaring me a little bit.

Good job all who braved the weather and all who gutted it out on the treadmills.

I hit the treadmill at the gym before strength training today, having no desire to go outside even though things were not bad here yet. We had some snow around midday and then a break. We're supposed to get 5-8 inches or so overnight. Hopefully not much ice but there is a wintry mix in the forecast for tomorrow morning, conveniently around commute time.

Hi everyone ☺ I love to run! I usually do between 12 to 15 miles weekly. I prefer outside but if weather gets bad I do run on a treadmill begrudgingly though lol. My runs have suffered a little since I started strength training with a trainer. Im sure ill bounce back quickly just curious if anyone else in this group has ever had this issue?

Welcome! I don't strength train per se, however, I know after an intense yoga session with lots of quad work my legs are dead the next day, making running a real challenge. However, as you get stronger, your body will adapt I'm sure, and it'll be great for your running in the long term. I'd just pull back on leg work a few days before any major running events so you don't negatively impact your time!

A really slow morning in the snow and ice. Fortunately, the snow covered most of the ice so footing wasn't too bad. 12 degrees with a wind chill making it feel like zero made this my coldest run. Don't get too many days like this in central TN.

@katharmonic WOW! So pretty. Thanks for sharing. Wish we could all be there and actually run on that trail...if we could start at the top.

@HonuNui I participated in the bird count too. Nothing exciting here, unfortunately. Cool that you saw the heron.

Welcome @jillroy81 ! I can't help with your question as I don't do strength training. I probably should eventually add it to my regime, but not right now.

@rheddmobile You and your DH are beasts for getting out and running in that! Congrats on the ice beard?! I hope you can stay safe and warm!

Great job in getting out in those conditions @Eaglesfanintn ! I feel like a wimp for doing my walks on the treadmill, but I'm a warm wimp!

    February Total: 105.1k
    February Goal: 150k

We ended up with about 4 inches of stuff -- ice mixed with snow mixed with sleet mixed with ice. So, it was treadmill time.
@rheddmobile Congratulations on your first ice beard!!! I won't run in deep snow. It's always dangerous when you can't see where your foot is falling -- kind of like trail running without a light. As you noted, your legs got a workout, while your mind got frustrated. Not worth it in my book. But on snowshoes -- that's a different story!!

When you pop in here claiming your December 2021 mileage, what accomplishments will you have made?

PUT THE FUN BACK IN THE RUN!
Return to a good running weight of 175 lbs (second attempt)

@katharmonic - ohh I cold definitely envision running there and I'm not even anywhere cold! It looks so beautiful!!
@HonuNui - I don't see them often but we have the black crowned night heron here too down by our river. The first time I saw one I thought it was some kind of weird penguin!
@jillroy81 - Welcome! When I was training regularly with my trainer (paused for now because of Covid restrictions) I would usually try to schedule a rest day after an intensive leg day, although getting out for a walk or slow recovery run often helped with the day after soreness and tiredness. I would also recommend making sure your body has time to recover and repair from each activity. As @contrarymarymary said I would always ask to limit what we did the week prior to any race because I didn't want to be sore anywhere or my body tired and still recovering, on race day.
In general overtime though you will find the strength you gain from training will help make you a stronger runner overall. It helps with your form (strong core), with keeping your leg 'chain' (hips to ankles) strong and having a strong upper body helps power you forward too with strong arms, back and shoulders.

I am so impressed with all of you getting outside to run in the brutal temperatures! Be safe everyone!
@rheddmobile I hope your legs aren't too sore! I am sure that was some workout!
@Faebert - so glad the ankle is feeling better!
@Scott6255 - 6 miles on the treadmill is about my limit, not sure I have done even 6. I just get too bored with it. If you keep pushing that pace you might find it is for longer than just for a few seconds!

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE ADVICE!!!! I'm hoping to run another marathon but this time I want to be stronger to help prevent injuries!

Has anyone heard from @WandaVaughn lately. The last time I recall her posting was a few months ago right before she had a colonoscopy? I've been wondering about her.

Also, I'm sure @Camaramandy648 is still running like a mad woman, but she hasn't posted here lately. Hoping she is okay and maybe found a new job.

    Also missing @7lenny7 .

I haven’t heard from @WandaVaughn recently either. You out there? @Camaramandy648 is second on the Run the world leaderboard and posted a couple of runs today, so she’s keeping on, just not socializing as much. @7lenny7 posted on Strava yesterday that his plantar fasciitis is going to keep him from running for another five weeks and he has taken up spinning in the meantime and even the word spinning is too much!

Running through an inch or two of powder is like running on the beach. Felt more of a burn in my legs, despite my slow pace.

@rheddmobile Thanks for the updates. I hope @WandaVaughn is okay. I didn't know about @7lenny7 's plantar fasciitis. That stinks. I figured @Camaramandy648 was out there somewhere.

@kgirlhart Glad you have maintained power. Those are horrible conditions. Be careful running in the snow. Not being able to see what is underneath that you may step on can be dangerous.

Happy Dance for you @Avidkeo ! That's great news.
